< Proverbs 10 >

1 Àwọn òwe Solomoni. Ọlọ́gbọ́n ọmọ ń mú inú baba rẹ̀ dùn, ṣùgbọ́n aṣiwèrè ọmọ ń ba inú ìyá rẹ̀ jẹ́.
The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.
2 Ìṣúra tí a kójọ nípa ìwà búburú kò ní èrè, ṣùgbọ́n òdodo a máa gbani lọ́wọ́ ikú.
Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but righteousness brings deliverance from death.
3 Olúwa kì í jẹ́ kí ebi máa pa olódodo, ṣùgbọ́n ó ba ète àwọn ènìyàn búburú jẹ́.
The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but He denies the craving of the wicked.
4 Ọwọ́ tí ó lẹ máa ń sọ ènìyàn di tálákà, ṣùgbọ́n ọwọ́ tí ó múra ṣíṣẹ́ a máa sọ ni di ọlọ́rọ̀.
Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.
5 Ẹni tí ó kó irúgbìn jọ ní àsìkò òjò jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n ọmọ, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó sùn ní àsìkò ìkórè jẹ́ adójútini ọmọ.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
6 Ìbùkún ní ó máa ń kún orí olódodo, ṣùgbọ́n ìwà ipá máa ń kún ẹnu ènìyàn búburú.
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
7 Ìrántí olódodo yóò jẹ́ ìbùkún, ṣùgbọ́n orúkọ ènìyàn búburú yóò jẹrà.
The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.
8 Ẹni tí ó gbọ́n nínú ọkàn rẹ̀ máa ń gba àṣẹ, ṣùgbọ́n ètè wérewère yóò parun.
A wise heart will receive commandments, but foolish lips will come to ruin.
9 Ẹni tí ó ń rìn déédé, ń rìn láìléwu, ṣùgbọ́n àṣírí ẹni tí ń rin ọ̀nà pálapàla yóò tú.
He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
10 Ẹni tí ń ṣẹ́jú pàkòpàkò fún ibi ń fa àìbalẹ̀ ọkàn, aláìgbọ́n tí ń ṣàròyé kiri yóò parun.
He who winks the eye causes grief, and foolish lips will come to ruin.
11 Ẹnu olódodo jẹ́ orísun ìyè, ṣùgbọ́n ìwà ipá ni ó gba gbogbo ẹnu ènìyàn búburú.
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
12 Ìríra a máa dá ìjà sílẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ìfẹ́ a máa bo gbogbo àṣìṣe mọ́lẹ̀.
Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions.
13 Ọgbọ́n ni a ń bá lẹ́nu àwọn olóye, ṣùgbọ́n kùmọ̀ wà fún ẹ̀yìn àwọn aláìlóye.
Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.
14 Ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn kó ìmọ̀ jọ, ṣùgbọ́n ẹnu aláìgbọ́n a máa ṣokùnfà ìparun.
The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of the fool invites destruction.
15 Ọrọ̀ àwọn olódodo ni ìlú olódi wọn, ṣùgbọ́n òsì ni ìparun aláìní.
The wealth of the rich man is his fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.
16 Èrè olódodo ń mú ìyè wá fún wọn, ṣùgbọ́n èrè ènìyàn búburú ń mú ìjìyà wá fún wọn.
The labor of the righteous leads to life, but the gain of the wicked brings punishment.
17 Ẹni tí ó gbọ́ ìbáwí fi ọ̀nà sí ìyè hàn, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó kọ ìbáwí mú àwọn mìíràn ṣìnà.
Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who ignores reproof goes astray.
18 Ẹni tí ó pa ìkórìíra rẹ̀ mọ́ jẹ́ òpùrọ́ ẹni tí ó sì ń ba ni jẹ́ jẹ́ aláìgbọ́n.
The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.
19 Nínú ọ̀rọ̀ púpọ̀ a kò le fẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ kù ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó pa ẹnu rẹ̀ mọ́ jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n.
When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.
20 Ètè olódodo jẹ́ ààyò fàdákà, ṣùgbọ́n ọkàn ènìyàn búburú kò níye lórí.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked has little worth.
21 Ètè olódodo ń bọ́ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n aláìgbọ́n ń kú nítorí àìlóye.
The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of judgment.
22 Ìbùkún Olúwa ń mú ọrọ̀ wá, kì í sì í fi ìdààmú sí i.
The blessing of the LORD enriches, and He adds no sorrow to it.
23 Aláìgbọ́n a máa ní inú dídùn sí ìwà búburú, ṣùgbọ́n olóye ènìyàn a máa ní inú dídùn sí ọgbọ́n.
The fool delights in shameful conduct, but a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 Ohun tí ènìyàn búburú bẹ̀rù yóò dé bá a; olódodo yóò rí ohun tí ó fẹ́ gbà.
What the wicked man dreads will overtake him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 Nígbà tí ìjì bá ti jà kọjá, ènìyàn búburú a kọjá lọ, ṣùgbọ́n olódodo yóò dúró ṣinṣin láéláé.
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the righteous are secure forever.
26 Bí ọtí kíkan sí eyín, àti èéfín sí ojú, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọ̀lẹ sí ẹni tí ó rán an níṣẹ́.
Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the slacker to those who send him.
27 Ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa ń mú ọjọ́ ayé gígùn wá, ṣùgbọ́n a gé ọjọ́ ayé ènìyàn búburú kúrú.
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be cut short.
28 Ìrètí olódodo ni ayọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ìrètí ènìyàn búburú jásí òfo.
The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectations of the wicked will perish.
29 Ọ̀nà Olúwa jẹ́ ààbò fún olódodo, ṣùgbọ́n ìparun ni ó jẹ́ fún àwọn tí ń ṣe ibi.
The way of the LORD is a refuge to the upright, but destruction awaits those who do evil.
30 A kì yóò fa olódodo tu láéláé, ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn búburú kì yóò dúró pẹ́ lórí ilẹ̀.
The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not inhabit the land.
31 Ẹnu olódodo ń mú ọgbọ́n jáde wá, ṣùgbọ́n ètè àyípadà ni a ó gé kúrò.
The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out.
32 Ètè olódodo mọ ohun ìtẹ́wọ́gbà, ṣùgbọ́n ètè ènìyàn búburú kò mọ̀ ju èké lọ.
The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
