< Obadiah 1 >
1 Ìran ti Obadiah. Èyí ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí nípa Edomu. Àwa ti gbọ́ ohùn kan láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa wá, a sì ti rán ikọ̀ kan sí gbogbo kèfèrí láti sọ pé, “Ẹ dìde, ẹ jẹ́ kí a dìde ogun sí i.”
The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Lord GOD says about Edom. We have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let’s rise up against her in battle.
2 “Kíyèsi i, Èmi yóò sọ ọ́ di kékeré láàrín àwọn kèfèrí; ìwọ yóò sì di gígàn lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀.
Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.
3 Ìgbéraga àyà rẹ ti tàn ọ́ jẹ, ìwọ tí ń gbé inú pálapàla àpáta, tí o sì kọ́ ibùgbé rẹ sí ibi gíga, ìwọ wí nínú ọkàn rẹ pé, ‘Ta ni yóò mú mi sọ̀kalẹ̀?’
The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’
4 Bí ìwọ tilẹ̀ gbé ara rẹ ga bí ẹyẹ idì, bí ìwọ tilẹ̀ tẹ́ ìtẹ́ rẹ sí àárín àwọn ìràwọ̀, láti ibẹ̀ ni èmi yóò ti sọ̀ ọ kalẹ̀,” ni Olúwa wí.
Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.
5 “Bí àwọn olè tọ̀ ọ́ wá, bí àwọn ọlọ́ṣà ní òru, Háà! Irú ìparun wo ló dúró dè ọ́, wọn kò ha jalè tó bí wọ́n ti fẹ́? Bí àwọn tí ń ká èso àjàrà tọ̀ ọ́ wá, wọn kò ha ni fi èso àjàrà díẹ̀ sílẹ̀?
“If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—would not they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, would not they leave some gleaning grapes?
6 Báwo ni a ṣe ṣe àwárí nǹkan Esau, tí a sì wá ohun ìní ìkọ̀kọ̀ rẹ̀ jáde.
How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!
7 Gbogbo àwọn ẹni ìmùlẹ̀ rẹ ti mú ọ dé ìpẹ̀kun ilẹ̀ rẹ, àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ ti tàn ọ́ jẹ, wọ́n sì ti borí rẹ; àwọn tó jẹ oúnjẹ rẹ dẹ pàkúté dè ọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ kò ní ní òye rẹ̀.”
All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him.”
8 Olúwa wí pé, “Ní ọjọ́ náà, Èmi kì yóò ha pa àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n Edomu run, àti àwọn amòye run kúrò ní òkè Esau?
“Will not I in that day”, says the LORD, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?
9 A ó ṣe ẹ̀rù ba àwọn jagunjagun rẹ, ìwọ Temani, gbogbo àwọn tó wà ní orí òkè Esau ní a ó gé kúrò nínú ìpànìyàn náà.
Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.
10 Nítorí ìwà ipá sí Jakọbu arákùnrin rẹ, ìtìjú yóò bò ọ, a ó sì pa ọ run títí láé.
For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.
11 Ní ọjọ́ tí ìwọ dúró ní apá kan, ní ọjọ́ tí àlejò kó ogún rẹ lọ, tí àwọn àjèjì sì wọ ibodè rẹ, tí wọ́n sì sẹ́ kèké lórí Jerusalẹmu, ìwọ náà wà bí ọ̀kan nínú wọn.
In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.
12 Ìwọ kì bá tí fi ojú kéré arákùnrin rẹ, ní àkókò ìbànújẹ́ rẹ̀ ìwọ kì bá tí yọ̀ lórí àwọn ọmọ Juda, ní ọjọ́ ìparun wọn ìwọ kì bá tí gbéraga púpọ̀ ní ọjọ́ wàhálà wọn.
But do not look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and do not rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Do not speak proudly in the day of distress.
13 Ìwọ kì bá tí wọ inú ibodè àwọn ènìyàn mi lọ, ní ọjọ́ àjálù wọn. Ìwọ kì bá tí fojú kó wọn mọ́lẹ̀ nínú ìdààmú wọn, ní ọjọ́ àjálù wọn. Ìwọ kì bá tí jí ẹrù wọn kó, ní ọjọ́ ìpọ́njú wọn.
Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Do not look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.
14 Ìwọ kì bá tí dúró ní ìkóríta ọ̀nà láti ké àwọn tirẹ̀ tó ti sálà kúrò. Ìwọ kì bá tí fa àwọn tó ṣẹ́kù nínú wọn lélẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ wàhálà wọn.
Do not stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Do not deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.
15 “Nítorí ọjọ́ Olúwa súnmọ́ etílé lórí gbogbo àwọn kèfèrí. Bí ìwọ ti ṣe, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni a ó ṣe sí ìwọ náà; ẹ̀san rẹ yóò sì yípadà sí orí ara rẹ.
For the day of the LORD is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.
16 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìwọ̀ ṣe mu lórí òkè mímọ́ mi, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni gbogbo kèfèrí yóò máa mu títí; wọn yóò mu ún ní àmutẹ́rùn wọn yóò sì wà bí ẹni pé wọn kò mu ún rí.
For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.
17 Ṣùgbọ́n ìgbàlà yóò wà lórí òkè Sioni, wọn yóò sì jẹ́ mímọ́, àti ilé Jakọbu yóò sì ní ìní wọn.
But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their possessions.
18 Ilé Jakọbu yóò sì jẹ́ iná àti ilé Josẹfu ọwọ́ iná ilé Esau yóò jẹ àgékù koríko wọn yóò fi iná sí i, wọn yóò jo run. Kì yóò sí ẹni tí yóò kù ní ilé Esau.” Nítorí Olúwa ti sọ̀rọ̀.
The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
19 Àwọn ará gúúsù yóò ni òkè Esau, àwọn ará ẹsẹ̀ òkè yóò ni ilẹ̀ àwọn ará Filistini ní ìní. Wọn yóò sì ni oko Efraimu àti Samaria; Benjamini yóò ní Gileadi ní ìní.
Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.
20 Àwọn ìgbèkùn Israẹli tí ó wà ní Kenaani yóò ni ilẹ̀ títí dé Sarefati; àwọn ìgbèkùn láti Jerusalẹmu tí ó wà ní Sefaredi yóò ni àwọn ìlú gúúsù ní ìní.
The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.
21 Àwọn tó ń gba ni là yóò sì gòkè Sioni wá láti jẹ ọba lé orí àwọn òkè Esau. Ìjọba náà yóò sì jẹ́ ti Olúwa.
Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD’s.
