< Nehemiah 9 >
1 Ní ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù kan náà, àwọn ọmọ Israẹli péjọpọ̀, wọ́n gbààwẹ̀, wọ́n wọ aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, wọ́n sì da eruku sórí ara wọn.
Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel assembled with fasting, and in sackcloths, and with ashes on their head.
2 Àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli sì ya ara wọn sọ́tọ̀ kúrò nínú gbogbo àwọn àjèjì. Wọ́n dúró ní ààyè e wọn, wọ́n sì ń jẹ́wọ́ àwọn ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ẹ wọn àti iṣẹ́ búburú àwọn baba wọn.
And the children of Israel separated themselves from every stranger, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
3 Wọ́n dúró sí ibi tí wọ́n wà, wọ́n sì fi ìdámẹ́rin ọjọ́ kà nínú ìwé òfin Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn, wọ́n sì tún fi ìdámẹ́rin mìíràn ní ìjẹ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àti ní sí sin Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn.
And they stood in their place, and read in the book of the law of the Lord their god: and they confessed [their sins] to the Lord, and worshipped the Lord their God.
4 Nígbà náà ni Jeṣua, àti Bani, Kadmieli, Ṣebaniah, Bunni, Ṣerebiah, Bani àti Kenaani gòkè dúró lórí àwọn àtẹ̀gùn àwọn ọmọ Lefi, wọ́n sì fi ohùn rara kígbe sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn.
[And] there stood upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jesus, and the sons of Cadmiel, Sechenia the son of Sarabia, sons of Choneni; and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God.
5 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ọmọ Lefi: Jeṣua, Kadmieli, Bani, Haṣbneiah, Ṣerebiah, Hodiah, Ṣebaniah àti Petahiah—wí pé, “Ẹ dìde ẹ fi ìyìn fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, tí ó wà láé àti láéláé.” “Ìbùkún ni fún orúkọ rẹ tí ó ní ògo, kí ó sì di gbígbéga ju gbogbo ìbùkún àti ìyìn lọ.
And the Levites, Jesus and Cadmiel, said, Rise up, bless the Lord our God forever and ever: and let them bless your glorious name, and exalt it with all blessing and praise.
6 Ìwọ nìkan ni Olúwa. Ìwọ ni ó dá ọ̀run, àní àwọn ọ̀run tí ó ga jù pẹ̀lú gbogbo ogun wọn, ayé àti ohun gbogbo tí ń bẹ nínú rẹ̀, òkun, àti ohun gbogbo tí ń bẹ nínú rẹ̀. Ìwọ sì pa gbogbo wọn mọ́ láàyè, ogun ọ̀run sì ń sìn ọ́.
And Esdras said, You are the only true Lord; you made the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, and all their array, the earth, and all things that are in it, the seas, and all things in them; and you quicken all things, and the hosts of heaven worship you.
7 “Ìwọ ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run, tí ó yan Abramu tí ó sì mú u jáde láti Uri ti Kaldea, tí ó sì sọ orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Abrahamu.
You are the Lord God, you did choose Abram, and brought him out of the land of the Chaldeans, and gave him the name of Abraam:
8 Ìwọ sì rí í pé ọkàn rẹ̀ jẹ́ olóòtítọ́ sí ọ, ìwọ sì dá májẹ̀mú pẹ̀lú u rẹ̀ láti fi ilẹ̀ àwọn ará a Kenaani, Hiti, Amori, Peresi, Jebusi àti Girgaṣi fún irú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀. Ìwọ ti pa ìpinnu rẹ̀ mọ́ nítorí tí ìwọ jẹ́ olódodo.
and you found his heart faithful before you, and did make a covenant with him to give to him and to his seed the land of the Chananites, and the Chettites, and Amorites, and Pherezites, and Jebusites, and Gergesites; and you have confirmed your words, for you [are] righteous.
9 “Ìwọ rí ìpọ́njú àwọn baba ńlá wa ní Ejibiti; ìwọ gbọ́ igbe ẹkún wọn ní Òkun Pupa.
And you saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and you heard their cry at the Red Sea.
10 Ìwọ rán iṣẹ́ àmì àti iṣẹ́ ìyanu sí Farao, sí gbogbo àwọn ìjòyè rẹ̀ àti sí gbogbo ènìyàn ilẹ̀ ẹ rẹ̀, nítorí ìwọ mọ ìwà ìgbéraga tí àwọn ará Ejibiti hù sí wọn. Ìwọ ra orúkọ fún ara à rẹ, èyí tí ó sì wà títí di òní yìí.
And you showed signs and wonders in Egypt, on Pharao and all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for you know that they behaved insolently against them: and you made yourself a name, as at this day.
11 Ìwọ pín òkun níwájú wọn, nítorí kí wọn lè kọjá ní ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ sọ àwọn tí ń lépa wọn sínú ibú, bí òkúta sínú omi ńlá.
And you did cleave the sea before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land; and you did cast into the deep them that were about to pursue them, as a stone in the mighty water.
12 Ní ọ̀sán ìwọ darí i wọn pẹ̀lú ọ̀wọn àwọsánmọ̀ àti ní òru ni ìwọ darí i wọn pẹ̀lú ọ̀wọn iná láti fún wọn ní ìmọ́lẹ̀ ní ọ̀nà tí wọn yóò gbà.
And you guided them by day by a pillar of cloud, and by night by a pillar of fire, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.
13 “Ìwọ sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá sí orí òkè Sinai; ìwọ bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀ láti ọ̀run. Ìwọ fún wọn ní ìlànà àti àwọn òfin tí ó jẹ́ òdodo tí ó sì tọ́ àti ìlànà tí ó dára.
Also you came down upon mount Sina, and you spoke to them out of heaven, and gave them right judgments, and laws of truth, ordinances, and good commandments.
14 Ìwọ mú ọjọ́ ìsinmi rẹ mímọ́ di mí mọ̀ fún wọn, o sì fún wọn ní àwọn ìlànà, àwọn àṣẹ àti àwọn òfin láti ọwọ́ Mose ìránṣẹ́ rẹ.
And you did make known to them your holy sabbath; you did enjoin upon them commandments, and ordinances, and a law, by the hand of your servant Moses.
15 Ìwọ fún wọn ní oúnjẹ láti ọ̀run wá nígbà tí ebi ń pa wọ́n àti nígbà òǹgbẹ, o fún wọn ní omi láti inú àpáta; o sì sọ fún wọn pé, kí wọ́n lọ láti lọ gba ilẹ̀ náà tí ìwọ ti jẹ́ ẹ̀jẹ́ láti fi fún wọn nípa ìgbọ́wọ́sókè.
And you gave them bread from heaven for their food, and you brought them forth water from a rock for their thirst; and you bade them go in to inherit the land over which you stretched out your hand to give [it] them.
16 “Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn, baba ńlá wa, wọ́n ṣe ìgbéraga, wọ́n sì ṣe agídí, wọn kò sì tẹríba fún àwọn ìlànà rẹ.
But they and our fathers behaved proudly, and hardened their neck, and did not listen to your commandments,
17 Wọ́n kọ̀ láti fetísílẹ̀, wọ́n sì kùnà láti rántí iṣẹ́ ìyanu tí ìwọ ṣe ní àárín wọn. Wọ́n ṣe agídí, nínú ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ wọn, wọ́n yan olórí láti padà sí oko ẹrú wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ Ọlọ́run tí ó ń dáríjì, olóore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti aláàánú, ó lọ́ra láti bínú, ó sì pọ̀ ní ìfẹ́. Nítorí náà ìwọ kò sì kọ̀ wọ́n sílẹ̀,
and refused to listen, and remembered not your wonders which you wrought with them; and they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt: but you, O God, [are] merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy, and you did not forsake them.
18 nítòótọ́ nígbà tí wọ́n ṣe ẹgbọrọ màlúù dídá, tí wọ́n sì wí pé, ‘Èyí ni Ọlọ́run rẹ tí ó mú ọ gòkè láti Ejibiti wá; tàbí nígbà tí wọ́n sọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì tí ó burú jàì’.
And still farther they even made to themselves a molten calf, and said, These [are] the gods that brought us up out of Egypt: and they wrought great provocations.
19 “Nítorí àánú ńlá rẹ, ìwọ kò kọ̀ wọ́n sílẹ̀ ní aginjù. Ní ọ̀sán ọ̀wọn ìkùùkuu kò kúrò ní ọ̀dọ̀ wọn láti ṣe amọ̀nà an wọn, tàbí ọ̀wọ́n iná láti tàn sí wọn ní òru ní ọ̀nà tí wọn yóò rìn.
Yet you in your great compassions did not forsake them in the wilderness: you did not turn away from them the pillar of the cloud by day, to guide them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.
20 Ìwọ fi ẹ̀mí rere rẹ fún wọn láti kọ́ wọn. Ìwọ kò dá manna rẹ dúró ní ẹnu wọn, ó sì fún wọn ní omi fún òǹgbẹ.
And you gave your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water in their thirst.
21 Fún ogójì ọdún ni ìwọ fi bọ́ wọn ní aginjù; wọn kò ṣe aláìní ohunkóhun, aṣọ wọn kò gbó bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹsẹ̀ wọn kò wú.
And you did sustain them forty years in the wilderness; you did not allow anything to fail them: their garments did not wax old, and their feet were not bruised.
22 “Ìwọ fi àwọn ìjọba àti àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè fún wọn, ó sì fi gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà fún wọ́n. Wọ́n sì gba ilẹ̀ ọba Sihoni ará a Heṣboni àti ilẹ̀ Ogu ọba Baṣani.
Moreover, you gave them kingdoms, and did divide nations to them: and they inherited the land of Seon king of Esebon, and the land of Og king of Basan.
23 Ìwọ ti mú àwọn ọmọ wọn pọ̀ bí ìràwọ̀ ojú ọ̀run, ó sì mú wọn wá sí ilẹ̀ tí o ti sọ fún àwọn baba wọn pé kí wọn wọ̀, kí wọn sì jogún un rẹ̀.
And you did multiply their children as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land of which you spoke to their fathers;
24 Àwọn ọkùnrin wọn wọ inú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì gbà ilẹ̀ náà. Ìwọ sì tẹ orí àwọn ará a Kenaani, tí ń gbé inú ilẹ̀ náà ba níwájú wọn; ó fi àwọn ará a Kenaani lé wọn lọ́wọ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn ọba wọn àti àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà kí wọn ṣe wọn bí ó ti wù wọ́n.
And they inherited it: and you did destroy from before them the dwellers in the land of the Chananites, and you gave into their hands them and their kings, and the nations of the land, to do to them as it pleased them.
25 Wọ́n gba àwọn ìlú olódi àti ilẹ̀ ọlọ́ràá; wọ́n gba àwọn ilé tí ó kún fún onírúurú gbogbo nǹkan rere, àwọn kànga tí a ti gbẹ́, àwọn ọgbà àjàrà, àwọn ọgbà olifi àti àwọn igi eléso ní ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀. Wọ́n jẹ, wọ́n yó, wọ́n sì sanra dáradára; wọ́n sì yọ̀ nínú oore ńlá rẹ.
And they took lofty cities, and inherited houses full of all good things, wells dug, vineyards, and olive yards, and every fruit tree in abundance: so they ate, and were filled, and grew fat, and rioted in your great goodness.
26 “Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n ṣe àìgbọ́ràn, wọ́n sì ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí ọ; wọ́n gbàgbé òfin rẹ. Wọ́n pa àwọn wòlíì rẹ, tí o fi gbà wọn ni ìyànjú pé kí wọn yí padà sí ọ; wọ́n sì se ọ̀rọ̀-òdì tí ó burú jàì.
But they turned, and revolted from you, and cast your law behind their backs; and they killed your prophets, who testified against them to turn them back to you, and they wrought great provocations.
27 Nítorí náà, ìwọ fi wọ́n lé àwọn ọ̀tá wọn lọ́wọ́, àwọn tí ó ni wọ́n lára. Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí a ni wọ́n lára wọ́n kígbe sí ọ. Ìwọ gbọ́ wọn láti ọ̀run wá àti nínú ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ àánú rẹ, ìwọ fún wọn ní olùgbàlà, tí ó gbà wọ́n lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá wọn.
Then you gave them into the hand of them that afflicted them, and they did afflict them: and they cried to you in the time of their affliction, and you did hear them from your heaven, and in your great compassions gave them deliverers, and did save them from the hand of them that afflicted them.
28 “Ṣùgbọ́n bí wọ́n bá ti wà nínú ìsinmi, wọn a sì túnṣe búburú lójú rẹ. Nígbà náà ni ìwọ kọ̀ wọ́n sílẹ̀ ṣọ́wọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá kí wọ́n lè jẹ ọba lórí wọn. Nígbà tí wọ́n bá sì tún kígbe sí ọ, ìwọ a gbọ́ láti ọ̀run wá, àti nínú àánú rẹ ni ìwọ gbà láti ìgbà dé ìgbà.
But when they rested, they did evil again before you: so you left them in the hands of their enemies, and they ruled over them: and they cried again to you, and you heard [them] from heaven, and did deliver them in your great compassions.
29 “Ìwọ kìlọ̀ fún wọn láti padà sínú òfin rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n hu ìwà ìgbéraga, wọ́n sì ṣe àìgbọ́ràn si àṣẹ rẹ. Wọ́n ṣẹ̀ sí ìlànà rẹ, nípa èyí tí ènìyàn yóò yè tí wọ́n bá pa wọ́n mọ́. Nínú agídí ọkàn wọ́n kọ ẹ̀yìn sí ọ, wọ́n jẹ́ olórí kunkun wọn kò sì fẹ́ gbọ́.
And you did testify against them, to bring them back to your law: but they listened not, but sinned against your commandments and your judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them; and they turned their back, and hardened their neck, and heard not.
30 Fún ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọdún ni ìwọ fi ní sùúrù pẹ̀lú wọn. Nípa ẹ̀mí rẹ ni ìwọ kìlọ̀ fún wọn nípasẹ̀ àwọn wòlíì. Síbẹ̀ wọn kò fi etí sílẹ̀, nítorí náà ni ìwọ ṣe fi wọ́n lé àwọn aládùúgbò wọn lọ́wọ́.
Yet you did bear long with them many years, and did testify to them by your Spirit by the hand of your prophets: but they listened not; so you gave them into the hand of the nations of the land.
31 Ṣùgbọ́n nínú ọ̀pọ̀ àánú rẹ, ìwọ kò mú òpin bá wọn tàbí kọ̀ wọ́n sílẹ̀, nítorí ìwọ ni Ọlọ́run olóore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti aláàánú.
But you in your many mercies did not appoint them to destruction, and did not forsake them; for you are strong, and merciful, and pitiful.
32 “Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà, Ọlọ́run wa, Ọlọ́run tí ó tóbi, tí ó lágbára, tí ó sì ní ẹ̀rù, ẹni tí ó pa májẹ̀mú ìfẹ́ mọ́, má ṣe jẹ́ gbogbo ìnira yìí dàbí ohun kékeré ní ojú rẹ—ìnira tí ó ti wá sórí wa, sórí àwọn ọba wa àti àwọn olórí wa, sórí àwọn àlùfáà wa àti àwọn wòlíì, sórí àwọn baba wa àti sórí gbogbo ènìyàn rẹ̀, láti àwọn ọjọ́ àwọn ọba Asiria wá títí di òní.
And now, O our God, the powerful, the great, the mighty, and the terrible, keeping your covenant and your mercy, let not all the trouble seem little in your sight which has come upon us, and our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our prophets, and our fathers, and upon all your people, from the days of the kings of Assur even to this day.
33 Ìwọ jẹ́ olódodo nínú ohun gbogbo tí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀ sí wa; ìwọ sì ti ṣe òtítọ́, nígbà tí a bá ṣe búburú.
But you [are] righteous in all the things that come upon us; for you have wrought faithfully, but we have greatly sinned.
34 Àwọn ọba wa, àwọn olórí wa, àwọn àlùfáà wa, àti àwọn baba wa kò tẹ̀lé òfin rẹ; wọn kò fetísílẹ̀ sí àṣẹ rẹ tàbí àwọn ìkìlọ̀ tí ìwọ fún wọn.
And our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our fathers, have not performed your law, and have not given heed to your commandments, and [have not kept] your testimonies which you did testify to them.
35 Àní nígbà tí wọ́n wà nínú ìjọba wọn, tí wọ́n ń gbádùn oore ńlá tí ìwọ fi fún wọn, ní ilẹ̀ tí ó tóbi tí ó sì lọ́ràá, wọn kò sìn ọ́ tàbí padà kúrò nínú àwọn ọ̀nà búburú wọn.
And they did not serve you in your kingdom, and in your great goodness which you gave to them, and in the large and fat land which you did furnish before them, and they turned not from their evil devices.
36 “Ṣùgbọ́n wò ó, àwa jẹ́ ẹrú lónìí, àwa jẹ́ ẹrú ní ilẹ̀ tí ìwọ fún àwọn baba ńlá wa, nítorí kí wọn bá máa jẹ èso rẹ̀ àti ìre mìíràn tí ó mú jáde.
Behold, we are servants this day, and [as for] the land which you gave to our fathers to eat the fruit of it and the good things of it, behold, we are servants upon it:
37 Nítorí àwọn ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa, ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ìkórè rẹ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ọba tí ó fi ṣe olórí wa. Wọ́n ń ṣe àkóso lórí wa àti lórí ẹran wa bí ó ti wù wọ́n, àwa sì wà nínú ìpọ́njú ńlá.
and its produce [is] abundant for the kings whom you did appoint over us because of our sins; and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, as it pleases them, and we are in great affliction.
38 “Nítorí gbogbo èyí, a ń ṣe àdéhùn tí ó fẹsẹ̀múlẹ̀, a sì kọ ọ́ sínú ìwé, àwọn olórí ọmọ Lefi àwọn àlùfáà sì fi èdìdì dì í.”
And in regard to all these circumstances we make a covenant, and write [it], and our princes, our Levites, [and] our priests, set their seal to [it].
