< Nahum 2 >

1 Àwọn apanirun ti dìde sí ọ, ìwọ Ninefe. Pa ilé ìṣọ́ mọ́, ṣọ́ ọ̀nà náà, di àmùrè, ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ kí ó le múra gírí.
The destroyer is come up against thee to enclose [thee] with works of siege: look out on the way, make thy loins strong, strengthen [thyself] greatly with power.
2 Olúwa yóò mú ọláńlá Jakọbu padà sípò gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọláńlá Israẹli bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé àwọn apanirun ti pa ibẹ̀ run, tí wọ́n sì ba ẹ̀ka àjàrà wọn jẹ́.
For the Lord bringeth back again the excellency of Jacob, as also the excellency of Israel; for the plunderers have plundered them, and have wasted branches of their vines.
3 Asà àwọn ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀ sì di pupa; àwọn ológun wọn sì wọ aṣọ òdòdó. Idẹ tí ó wà lórí kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun ń kọ mọ̀nàmọ́ná ní ọjọ́ tí a bá pèsè wọn sílẹ̀ tán; igi firi ni a ó sì mì tìtì.
The shields of his mighty men are made red, the valiant men are [clothed] in scarlet: with the fire of the steel the chariots [glitter] on the day when he prepareth himself [for battle], and the spears are shaken.
4 Àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun yóò ya bo àwọn pópónà, wọn yóò sì máa sáré síwá àti sẹ́yìn ní àárín ìgboro. Wọn sì dàbí ètùfù iná; tí ó sì kọ bí i mọ̀nàmọ́ná.
In the streets the chariots rush madly along, they rattle through the public places: their appearance is like torches, they run along like the lightnings.
5 Ninefe yóò ṣe àṣàrò àwọn ọlọ́lá rẹ̀; síbẹ̀ wọ́n ń kọsẹ̀ ní ojú ọ̀nà wọn; wọn sáré lọ sí ibi odi rẹ̀, a ó sì pèsè ààbò rẹ̀.
He will summon his valiant men, they shall stumble in their walk: they hasten to her walls, and the covering for defence is prepared.
6 A ó ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn àwọn odò wọ̀n-ọn-nì sílẹ̀, a ó sì mú ààfin náà di wíwó palẹ̀.
The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.
7 A pa á láṣẹ pé ìlú náà, èyí tí a ti fi ìdí rẹ̀ múlẹ̀ ni a ó sì kó ní ìgbèkùn lọ. A ó sì mú un gòkè wá àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin rẹ̀ yóò kérora bí ti ẹyẹ àdàbà, wọn a sì máa lu àyà wọn.
And the queen is carried away into exile stripped of her attire, and her maids moan as with the voice of doves, striking their hand upon their breast.
8 Ninefe dàbí adágún omi, tí omi rẹ̀ sì ń gbẹ́ ẹ lọ. “Dúró! Dúró!” ni wọ́n ó máa kígbe, ṣùgbọ́n ẹnìkankan kì yóò wo ẹ̀yìn.
And Nineveh was like a pool of water from the days that she existed: yet now they flee. “Stand, stand,” [shall they cry, ] but none shall look back.
9 “Ẹ kó ìkógun fàdákà! Ẹ kó ìkógun wúrà! Ìṣúra wọn ti kò lópin náà, àti ọrọ̀ kúrò nínú gbogbo ohun èlò ti a fẹ́!”
Plunder silver, plunder gold; for without end are the treasures, there is an abundance of all precious vessels.
10 Òun ti ṣòfò, ó si di asán, ó sì di ahoro: ọkàn pami, eékún ń lu ara wọn, ìrora púpọ̀ sì wà nínú gbogbo ẹgbẹ́ àti ojú gbogbo wọ́n sì rẹ̀wẹ̀sì.
She is void, and emptied out, and wasted; and the heart melteth, and the knees totter, and trembling is in all loins, and the faces of them all are covered with blackness.
11 Níbo ni ihò àwọn kìnnìún wà àti ibi ìjẹun àwọn ọmọ kìnnìún, níbi tí kìnnìún, àní abo kìnnìún tí ń rìn, àti ọmọ kìnnìún, láìsí ohun ìbẹ̀rù.
Where is [now] the dwelling of the lions, and what was the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion, the lioness, and the lion's whelp walked, and none made them afraid?
12 Kìnnìún tipa ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ fún àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, ó sì fún un ẹran ọdẹ ní ọrùn pa fún àwọn abo kìnnìún rẹ̀, ó sì fi ohun pípa kún ibùgbé rẹ̀ àti ihò rẹ̀ fún ohun ọdẹ.
The lion tore in pieces [prey] enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled with prey his holes, and his dens with what he had torn.
13 “Kíyèsi i èmi dojúkọ ọ́,” ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí. “Èmi yóò sì fi kẹ̀kẹ́ rẹ̀ wọ̀n-ọn-nì jóná nínú èéfín, idà yóò sì jẹ ọmọ kìnnìún rẹ̀ wọ̀n-ọn-nì run. Èmi yóò sì ké ohun ọdẹ rẹ kúrò lórí ilẹ̀ ayé. Ohùn àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ni a kì yóò sì tún gbọ́ mọ́.”
Behold, I will be against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn into smoke thy chariots, and thy young lions shall the sword devour: and I will cut off from the earth thy preying, and no more shall be heard the voice of thy messengers.
