1 Ìwé ìran Jesu Kristi, ẹni tí í ṣe ọmọ Dafidi, ọmọ Abrahamu:
The Genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abrahamu ni baba Isaaki; Isaaki ni baba Jakọbu; Jakọbu ni baba Juda àti àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀,
Abraham was the father of Isaac; Isaac of Jacob; Jacob of Judah and his brothers.
3 Juda ni baba Peresi àti Sera, Tamari sì ni ìyá rẹ̀, Peresi ni baba Hesroni: Hesroni ni baba Ramu;
Judah was the father (by Tamar) of Perez and Zerah; Perez of Hezron; Hezron of Ram;
4 Ramu ni baba Amminadabu; Amminadabu ni baba Nahiṣoni; Nahiṣoni ni baba Salmoni;
Ram of Amminadab; Amminadab of Nahshon; Nahshon of Salmon;
5 Salmoni ni baba Boasi, Rahabu sí ni ìyá rẹ̀; Boasi ni baba Obedi, Rutu sí ni ìyá rẹ̀; Obedi sì ni baba Jese;
Salmon (by Rahab) of Boaz; Boaz (by Ruth) of Obed; Obed of Jesse;
6 Jese ni baba Dafidi ọba. Dafidi ni baba Solomoni, ẹni tí ìyá rẹ̀ jẹ́ aya Uriah tẹ́lẹ̀ rí.
Jesse of David--the King. David (by Uriah's widow) was the father of Solomon;
7 Solomoni ni baba Rehoboamu, Rehoboamu ni baba Abijah, Abijah ni baba Asa,
Solomon of Rehoboam; Rehoboam of Abijah; Abijah of Asa;
8 Asa ni baba Jehoṣafati; Jehoṣafati ni baba Jehoramu; Jehoramu ni baba Ussiah;
Asa of Jehoshaphat; Jehoshaphat of Jehoram; Jehoram of Uzziah;
9 Ussiah ni baba Jotamu; Jotamu ni baba Ahaṣi; Ahaṣi ni baba Hesekiah;
Uzziah of Jotham; Jotham of Ahaz; Ahaz of Hezekiah;

After the Removal to Babylon Jeconiah had a son Shealtiel; Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel;
13 Serubbabeli ni baba Abihudi; Abihudi ni baba Eliakimu; Eliakimu ni baba Asori;
Zerubbabel of Abiud; Abiud of Eliakim; Eliakim of Azor;
14 Asori ni baba Sadoku; Sadoku ni baba Akimu; Akimu ni baba Elihudi;
Azor of Zadok; Zadok of Achim; Achim of Eliud;
15 Elihudi ni baba Eleasari; Eleasari ni baba Mattani; Mattani ni baba Jakọbu;
Eliud of Eleazar; Eleazar of Matthan; Matthan of Jacob;
16 Jakọbu ni baba Josẹfu, ẹni tí ń ṣe ọkọ Maria, ìyá Jesu, ẹni tí í ṣe Kristi.
and Jacob of Joseph the husband of Mary, who was the mother of JESUS who is called CHRIST.
17 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni gbogbo wọ́n jẹ́ ìran mẹ́rìnlá láti orí Abrahamu dé orí Dafidi, ìran mẹ́rìnlá á láti orí Dafidi títí dé ìkólọ sí Babeli, àti ìran mẹ́rìnlá láti ìkólọ títí dé orí Kristi.
There are therefore, in all, fourteen generations from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to the Removal to Babylon; and fourteen from the Removal to Babylon to the Christ.
18 Bí a ṣe bí Jesu Kristi nìyí, ní àkókò ti àdéhùn ìgbéyàwó ti parí láàrín Maria ìyá rẹ̀ àti Josẹfu, ṣùgbọ́n kí wọn tó pàdé, a rí i ó lóyún láti ọwọ́ Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́.
The circumstances of the birth of Jesus Christ were these. After his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they were united in marriage, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 Nítorí Josẹfu ọkọ rẹ̀ tí í ṣe olóòtítọ́ ènìyàn kò fẹ́ dójútì í ní gbangba, ó ní èrò láti kọ̀ ọ́ sílẹ̀ ní ìkọ̀kọ̀.
But Joseph her husband, being a kind-hearted man and unwilling publicly to disgrace her, had determined to release her privately from the betrothal.
20 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ó ro èrò yìí tán, angẹli Olúwa yọ sí i ní ojú àlá, ó wí pé, “Josẹfu, ọmọ Dafidi, má fòyà láti fi Maria ṣe aya rẹ, nítorí oyún tí ó wà nínú rẹ̀ láti ọwọ́ Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ ni.
But while he was contemplating this step, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to bring home your wife Mary, for she is with child through the Holy Spirit.
21 Òun yóò sì bí ọmọkùnrin, ìwọ yóò sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Jesu, nítorí òun ni yóò gba àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ là kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wọn.”
She will give birth to a Son, and you are to call His name JESUS for He it is who will save His People from their sins."
22 Gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí sì ṣẹ láti mú ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ṣẹ èyí tí a sọ láti ẹnu wòlíì rẹ̀ wá pé:
All this took place in fulfilment of what the Lord had spoken through the Prophet,
23 “Wúńdíá kan yóò lóyún, yóò sì bí ọmọkùnrin kan, yóò sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Emmanueli,” (èyí tí ó túmọ̀ sí “Ọlọ́run wà pẹ̀lú wa”).
"Mark! The maiden will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call His name Immanuel" --a word which signifies 'God with us'.
24 Nígbà tí Josẹfu jí lójú oorun rẹ̀, òun ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí angẹli Olúwa ti pàṣẹ fún un. Ó mú Maria wá sílé rẹ̀ ní aya.
When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded, and brought home his wife,
25 Ṣùgbọ́n òun kò mọ̀ ọ́n títí tí ó fi bí ọmọkùnrin, òun sì sọ orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Jesu.
but did not live with her until she had given birth to a son. The child's name he called JESUS.
