< Matthew 21 >
1 Bí wọ́n ti súnmọ́ Jerusalẹmu, tí wọ́n dé itòsí ìlú Betfage ní orí òkè Olifi, Jesu sì rán àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn méjì,
AND when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage to the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 Ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ lọ sí ìletò tó wà ni tòsí yín, ẹ̀yin yóò rí kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ kan ti wọ́n so pẹ̀lú ọmọ rẹ̀ lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ rẹ̀. Ẹ tú wọn, kí ẹ sì mú wọn wá fún mi.
saying to them, Go into the village, which is opposite you, and immediately you will find an ass tied, and a foal with her; loose and bring them to me.
3 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá sì béèrè ìdí tí ẹ fi ń ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, ẹ sá à wí pé, Olúwa fẹ́ lo wọn, òun yóò sì rán wọn lọ.”
And if any man say aught to you, ye shall tell them, That the Lord hath need of them, and immediately he will send them.
4 Èyí ṣẹlẹ̀ láti mú àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ wòlíì ṣẹ pé:
Now this was entirely done, that what was spoken by the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,
5 “Ẹ sọ fún ọmọbìnrin Sioni pé, ‘Wò ó, ọba rẹ ń bọ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ, ní ìrẹ̀lẹ̀, ó ń gun kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́, àti lórí ọmọ kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́.’”
“Tell the daughter of Sion, Lo! thy King cometh to thee, meek, and sitting on an ass, even on a foal the ass’s colt.”
6 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà sí lọ, wọ́n ṣe bí Jesu ti sọ fún wọn.
Then the disciples going, and doing as Jesus had commanded them,
7 Wọ́n sì mú kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ náà pẹ̀lú ọmọ rẹ̀, wọ́n tẹ́ aṣọ lé e, Jesu si jókòó lórí rẹ̀.
brought the ass and her foal, and they spread over them their garments, and seated him upon them.
8 Ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn sì tẹ́ aṣọ wọn sí ojú ọ̀nà níwájú rẹ̀, ẹlòmíràn ṣẹ́ ẹ̀ka igi wẹ́wẹ́ wọ́n sì tẹ́ wọn sí ojú ọ̀nà.
And a vast multitude spread their garments on the road, and others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them on the road:
9 Ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn ń lọ níwájú rẹ̀ àti lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ń kígbe pé, “Hosana fún ọmọ Dafidi!” “Olùbùkún ni fún ẹni tí ó ń bọ̀ ní orúkọ Olúwa!” “Hosana ní ibi gíga jùlọ!”
and the multitudes who went before, and who followed after, cried, saying, Hosanna, to the son of David; blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
10 Bí Jesu sì ti ń wọ Jerusalẹmu, gbogbo ìlú mì tìtì, àwọn ènìyàn bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í bi ara wọn pé, “Ta nìyìí?”
And when he was entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was in commotion, saying, Who is this?
11 Ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn sì dáhùn pé, “Èyí ni Jesu, wòlíì náà láti Nasareti ti Galili.”
Then the multitudes said, This is Jesus, the prophet, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.
12 Jesu sì wọ inú tẹmpili, Ó sì lé àwọn ti ń tà àti àwọn tí ń rà níbẹ̀ jáde. Ó yí tábìlì àwọn onípàṣípàrọ̀ owó dànù, àti tábìlì àwọn tí ó ń ta ẹyẹlé.
And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold doves
13 Ó wí fún wọn pé, “A sá à ti kọ ọ́ pé, ‘Ilé àdúrà ni a ó máa pe ilé mi,’ ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ti sọ ọ́ di ibùdó àwọn ọlọ́ṣà.”
and said unto them, It is written, “My house shall be called a house of prayer,” but ye have made it a den of robbers.
14 A sì mú àwọn afọ́jú àti àwọn arọ wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ ní tẹmpili, ó sì mú wọ́n láradá.
Then the blind and the lame came unto him, into the temple, and he cured them.
15 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn olùkọ́ òfin rí àwọn iṣẹ́ ìyanu ńlá wọ̀nyí, ti wọ́n sì tún ń gbọ́ tí àwọn ọmọdé ń kígbe nínú tẹmpili pé, “Hosana fún ọmọ Dafidi,” inú bí wọn.
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the marvellous acts which he did, and the children crying out in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were filled with indignation;
16 Wọ́n sì bí i pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ gbọ́ nǹkan tí àwọn ọmọdé wọ̀nyí ń sọ?” Jesu sí dáhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, àbí ẹ̀yin kò kà á pé, “‘Láti ẹnu àwọn ọmọdé àti àwọn ọmọ ọmú, ni a ó ti máa yìn mí’?”
and said to him, Hearest thou what these say? Jesus replied to them, Yes; but have ye never read, “That out of the mouths of infants and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?”
17 Ó sì fi wọ́n sílẹ̀, ó lọ sí Betani. Níbẹ̀ ni ó dúró ní òru náà.
And turning his back upon them, he went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
18 Ní òwúrọ̀ bí ó ṣe ń padà sí ìlú, ebi ń pa á.
Now in the morning, when returning into the city, he was hungry:
19 Ó sì ṣàkíyèsí igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ kan lẹ́bàá ojú ọ̀nà, ó sì lọ wò ó bóyá àwọn èso wà lórí rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n kò sí ẹyọ kan, ewé nìkan ni ó wà lórí rẹ̀. Nígbà náà ni ó sì wí fún igi náà pé, “Kí èso má tún so lórí rẹ mọ́ láti òní lọ àti títí láé.” Lójúkan náà igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ náà sì gbẹ. (aiōn )
and seeing a fig-tree at the road side, he went up to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only: and saith unto it, Let no fruit spring from thee henceforth for ever: and immediately the fig-tree withered entirely away. (aiōn )
20 Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ rí èyí, ẹnu yà wọn, wọ́n béèrè pé, “Báwo ni igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ náà ṣe gbẹ kíákíá?”
And when his disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How suddenly is the fig-tree withered away!
21 Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, bí ẹ̀yin bá lè ní ìgbàgbọ́ láìṣiyèméjì, nígbà náà ẹ̀yin yóò lè ṣe irú ohun tí a ṣe sí igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́, ẹ̀yin yóò lè sọ fún òkè yìí pé, ‘Yí ipò padà sínú Òkun,’ yóò sì rí bẹ́ẹ̀.
But Jesus addressing them, said, Verily I tell you, if ye have faith, and entertain no doubt, not only shall ye do what is done to the fig-tree, but if ye should even say to this mountain, Be lifted up, and be cast into the sea, it be done.
22 Bí ẹ̀yin bá gbàgbọ́, ẹ̀yin lè rí ohunkóhun tí ẹ bá béèrè nínú àdúrà gbà.”
And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 Jesu wọ tẹmpili, nígbà tí ó ń kọ́ni, àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn àgbàgbà Júù tọ̀ ọ́ wá. Wọ́n béèrè pé “nípa àṣẹ wo ni o fi ń ṣe àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí? Ta ni ó sì fún ọ ni àṣẹ yìí?”
And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him, as he was teaching, demanding, By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this authority?
24 Jesu sì dáhùn ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi yóò si bí yin léèrè ohun kan, bí ẹ̀yin bá lé sọ fún mi, nígbà náà èmi yóò sọ fún yín, àṣẹ tí Èmi fi ń ṣe àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí.
Then Jesus answering, said to them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye answer me, then will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 Níbo ni ìtẹ̀bọmi Johanu ti wa? Láti ọ̀run wá ni, tàbí láti ọ̀dọ̀ ènìyàn.” Wọ́n sì bá ara wọn gbèrò pé, “Bí àwa bá wí pé láti ọ̀run wá ni, òun yóò wí fún wa pé, ‘Èéha ti ṣe tí ẹ̀yin kò fi gbà á gbọ́?’
The baptism of John whence was it? from heaven, or from men? Hereupon they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we reply, From heaven, he will say to us, Why then did ye not believe him?
26 Ní ìdàkejì, bí àwa bá sì sọ pé, ‘Láti ọ̀dọ̀ ènìyàn, àwa bẹ̀rù ìjọ ènìyàn, nítorí gbogbo wọ́n ka Johanu sí wòlíì.’”
But if we say, From men, we are afraid of the populace, for they all hold John as a prophet.
27 Nítorí náà wọ́n sì dá Jesu lóhùn pé, “Àwa kò mọ̀.” Nígbà náà ni ó wí pé, “Nítorí èyí, èmi kò ní sọ àṣẹ tí èmi fi ń ṣe nǹkan wọ̀nyí fún yín.
So they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. Then said he also to them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
28 “Kí ni ẹ rò nípa eléyìí? Ọkùnrin kan ti ó ní àwọn ọmọkùnrin méjì. Ó sọ fún èyí ẹ̀gbọ́n pé, ‘Ọmọ, lọ ṣiṣẹ́ nínú ọgbà àjàrà lónìí.’
But what think ye? A man had two sons; and coming to the first he said, Son, go work to-day in my vineyard.
29 “Ó sì dá baba rẹ̀ lóhùn pé, ‘Èmi kò ní í lọ,’ ṣùgbọ́n níkẹyìn ó yí ọkàn padà, ó sì lọ.
But he answering said, I will not: yet repenting afterwards, he went.
30 “Nígbà náà ni baba yìí tún sọ fún èyí àbúrò pé, ‘Lọ ṣiṣẹ́ ní oko.’ Ọmọ náà sì sọ pé, ‘Èmi yóò lọ, baba,’ ṣùgbọ́n kò lọ rárá.
And coming to the other, he spake after the same manner, and he replying, said, I go, sir; yet went not.
31 “Nínú àwọn méjèèjì yìí, èwo ni ó ṣe ìfẹ́ baba wọn?” Gbogbo wọn sì fohùn ṣọ̀kan pé, “Èyí ẹ̀gbọ́n ni.” Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn panṣágà yóò wọ ìjọba ọ̀run síwájú yín.
Which of the two did the will of his father? They say to him, The first. Jesus saith to them, Verily I say unto you, That tax-gatherers and harlots shall go before you into the kingdom of God.
32 Nítorí Johanu tọ́ yin wá láti fi ọ̀nà òdodo hàn yín, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kò gbà á gbọ́, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn panṣágà ronúpìwàdà, bí ó tilẹ̀ ṣe pé ẹ rí àwọn ohun tí ń ṣẹlẹ̀ wọ̀nyí, ẹ kọ̀ láti ronúpìwàdà, ẹ kò gbà á gbọ́.”
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the tax-gatherers and harlots believed on him. But ye, when ye saw it, repented not afterwards, that ye should believe on him.
33 “Ẹ gbọ́ òwe mìíràn, Baálé ilé kan tí ó gbin ọgbà àjàrà, ó ṣe ọgbà yìí ká, ó wá ibi ìfúntí sínú rẹ̀, ó kọ́ ilé ìṣọ́. Ó sì fi oko náà ṣe àgbàtọ́jú fún àwọn àgbẹ̀ kan, ó sì lọ sí ìrìnàjò.
Hear another parable: There was a certain man, the master of a family, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged in it a wine-press, and built a tower, and hired it out to husbandmen, and went into a distant country.
34 Nígbà ti àkókò ìkórè súnmọ́, ó rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ sí àwọn àgbẹ̀ náà láti gba èyí ti ó jẹ tirẹ̀ wá.
But when the season for fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits.
35 “Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn alágbàtọ́jú sì mú àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọn lu ẹni kìn-ín-ní, wọn pa èkejì, wọ́n si sọ ẹ̀kẹta ní òkúta.
And the husbandmen took his servants, one they beat, and another they killed, and a third they stoned.
36 Ó sì tún rán àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ mìíràn àwọn tí ó ju ti ìṣáájú lọ. Wọ́n sì túnṣe bí ti àkọ́kọ́ sí àwọn wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú.
Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they treated them in the same manner.
37 Níkẹyìn, baálé ilé yìí rán ọmọ rẹ̀ pàápàá sí wọn. Ó wí pé, ‘Wọn yóò bu ọlá fún ọmọ mi.’
Then at last he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 “Ṣùgbọ́n bí àwọn alágbàtọ́jú wọ̀nyí ti rí ọmọ náà lókèèrè, wọ́n wí fún ara wọn pé, ‘Èyí ni àrólé náà. Ẹ wá, ẹ jẹ́ kí a pa á, kí a sì jogún rẹ̀.’
But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come let us kill him, and let us seize on the inheritance.
39 Wọ́n sì wọ́ ọ jáde kúrò nínú ọgbà àjàrà náà, wọ́n sì pa á.
And they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40 “Ǹjẹ́ nígbà tí olúwa ọgbà àjàrà bá dé, kí ni yóò ṣe sí àwọn olùṣọ́gbà wọ̀n-ọn-nì?”
When therefore the master of the vineyard cometh, what will he do with these husbandmen?
41 Wọ́n wí pé, “Òun yóò pa àwọn ènìyàn búburú náà run, yóò sì fi ọgbà àjàrà rẹ̀ fún àwọn alágbàtọ́jú mìíràn tí yóò fún un ní èso tirẹ̀ lásìkò ìkórè.”
They say unto him, He will dreadfully destroy those wicked wretches, and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesu wí fún wọ́n pé, “Àbí ẹ̀yin kò kà á nínú Ìwé Mímọ́ pé: “‘Òkúta tí àwọn ọ̀mọ̀lé kọ̀sílẹ̀, ni ó di pàtàkì igun ilé; iṣẹ́ Olúwa ni èyí, ó sì jẹ́ ìyanu ní ojú wa’?
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye not read in the Scriptures, “The stone, which the builders rejected; the same is become the head of the corner; this is done by the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.”
43 “Nítorí náà èmi wí fún yín, a ó gba ìjọba Ọlọ́run lọ́wọ́ yín, a ó sì fi fún àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí yóò máa mú èso rẹ̀ wá.
Therefore I tell you, That the kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and given to a nation, producing the fruits thereof.
44 Ẹni tí ó bá ṣubú lu òkúta yìí yóò di fífọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí òun bá ṣubú lù yóò lọ̀ ọ́ lúúlúú.”
And whosoever shall fall on this stone, shall be broken in pieces, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
45 Nígbà tí àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn Farisi gbọ́ òwe Jesu, wọ́n mọ̀ wí pé ó ń sọ̀rọ̀ nípa àwọn.
And when the chief priests and Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking concerning them.
46 Wọn wá ọ̀nà láti mú un, ṣùgbọ́n wọn bẹ̀rù ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn tí wọ́n gba Jesu gẹ́gẹ́ bí wòlíì.
And they sought to apprehend him; but were afraid of the people, for they held him as a prophet.
