< Matthew 15 >
1 Nígbà náà ní àwọn Farisi àti àwọn olùkọ́ òfin tọ Jesu wá láti Jerusalẹmu,
Then there came to Jesus a party of Pharisees and Scribes from Jerusalem, who inquired,
2 wọn béèrè pé, “Èéṣe tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ fi ń rú òfin àtayébáyé àwọn alàgbà? Nítorí tí wọn kò wẹ ọwọ́ wọn kí wọ́n tó jẹun!”
"Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the Elders by not washing their hands before meals?"
3 Jesu sì dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Èéha ṣe tí ẹ̀yin fi rú òfin Ọlọ́run, nítorí àṣà yín?
"Why do you, too," He retorted, "transgress God's commands for the sake of your tradition?
4 Nítorí Ọlọ́run wí pé, ‘Bọ̀wọ̀ fún Baba òun ìyá rẹ,’ àti pé, ‘Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá sọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí baba tàbí ìyá rẹ̀, ní láti kú.’
For God said, 'Honour thy father and thy mother'; and 'Let him who reviles father or mother be certainly put to death';
5 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin wí pé, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá wí fún baba tàbí ìyá rẹ̀ pé, ‘Ẹ̀bùn fún Ọlọ́run ni ohunkóhun tí ìwọ ìbá fi jèrè lára mi,’
but you--this is what you say: 'If a man says to his father or mother, That is consecrated, whatever it is, which otherwise you should have received from me--
6 tí Òun kò sì bọ̀wọ̀ fún baba tàbí ìyá rẹ̀, ó bọ́; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹ̀yin sọ òfin Ọlọ́run di asán nípa àṣà yín.
he shall be absolved from honouring his father'; and so you have abrogated God's Word for the sake of your tradition.
7 Ẹ̀yin àgàbàgebè, ní òtítọ́ ni Wòlíì Isaiah sọtẹ́lẹ̀ nípa yín wí pé:
Hypocrites! well did Isaiah prophesy of you,
8 “‘Àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí ń fi ẹnu lásán bu ọlá fún mi, ṣùgbọ́n ọkàn wọn jìnnà réré sí mi.
"'This is a People who honour Me with their lips, while their heart is far away from Me;
9 Lásán ni ìsìn wọn; nítorí pé wọ́n ń fi òfin ènìyàn kọ́ ni ní ẹ̀kọ́.’”
but it is in vain they worship Me, while they lay down precepts which are mere human rules.'"
10 Jesu pe ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ, ó wí pé, “Ẹ tẹ́tí, ẹ sì jẹ́ kí nǹkan tí mo sọ yé yín.
Then, when He had called the people to Him, Jesus said, "Hear and understand.
11 Ènìyàn kò di aláìmọ́ nípa ohun tí ó wọ ẹnu ènìyàn, ṣùgbọ́n èyí tí ó ti ẹnu jáde wá ni ó sọ ní di aláìmọ́.”
It is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him; but it is what comes out of his mouth--that defiles a man."
12 Nígbà náà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ tọ̀ ọ́ wá, wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ mọ̀ pé inú bí àwọn Farisi lẹ́yìn tí wọ́n gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó sọ yìí?”
Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were greatly shocked when they heard those words?"
13 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Gbogbo igi tí Baba mi ti ń bẹ ni ọ̀run kò bá gbìn ni á ó fàtu tigbòǹgbò tigbòǹgbò,
"Every plant," He replied, "which my Heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up.
14 ẹ fi wọ́n sílẹ̀; afọ́jú tí ń fi ọ̀nà han afọ́jú ni wọ́n. Bí afọ́jú bá sì ń fi ọ̀nà han afọ́jú, àwọn méjèèjì ni yóò jìn sí kòtò.”
Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind; and if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into some pit."
15 Peteru wí, “Ṣe àlàyé òwe yìí fún wa.”
"Explain to us this figurative language," said Peter.
16 Jesu béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn pé, “Èéha ṣe tí ìwọ fi jẹ́ aláìmòye síbẹ̀”?
"Are even you," He answered, "still without intellingence?
17 “Ẹyin kò mọ̀ pé ohunkóhun tí ó gba ẹnu wọlé, yóò gba ti ọ̀nà oúnjẹ lọ, a yóò sì yà á jáde?
Do you not understand that whatever enters the mouth passes into the stomach and is afterwards ejected from the body?
18 Ṣùgbọ́n ohun tí a ń sọ jáde láti ẹnu, inú ọkàn ni ó ti ń wá, èyí sì ni ó ń sọ ènìyàn di aláìmọ́.
But the things that come out of the mouth proceed from the heart, and it is these that defile the man.
19 Ṣùgbọ́n láti ọkàn ni èrò búburú ti wá, bí ìpànìyàn, panṣágà, àgbèrè, olè jíjà, irọ́ àti ọ̀rọ̀ ìbàjẹ́.
For out of the heart proceed wicked thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury, impiety of speech.
20 Àwọn tí a dárúkọ wọ̀nyí ni ó ń sọ ènìyàn di aláìmọ́. Ṣùgbọ́n láti jẹun láì wẹ ọwọ́, kò lè sọ ènìyàn di aláìmọ́.”
These are the things which defile the man; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile."
21 Jesu sì ti ibẹ̀ kúrò lọ sí Tire àti Sidoni.
Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew into the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon.
22 Obìnrin kan láti Kenaani, tí ó ń gbé ibẹ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀. Ó ń bẹ̀bẹ̀, ó sì kígbe pé, “Olúwa, ọmọ Dafidi, ṣàánú fún mi; ọmọbìnrin mi ní ẹ̀mí èṣù ti ń dá a lóró gidigidi.”
Here a Canaanitish woman of the district came out and persistently cried out, "Sir, Son of David, pity me; my daughter is cruelly harassed by a demon."
23 Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu kò fún un ní ìdáhùn, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì gbà á níyànjú pé, “Lé obìnrin náà lọ, nítorí ó ń kígbe tọ̀ wá lẹ́yìn.”
But He answered her not a word. Then the disciples interposed, and begged Him, saying, "Send her away because she keeps crying behind us."
24 Ó dáhùn pé, “Àgùntàn ilẹ̀ Israẹli tí ó nù nìkan ni a rán mi sí.”
"I have only been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel," He replied.
25 Obìnrin náà wá, ó wólẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀, ó bẹ̀bẹ̀ sí i pé, “Olúwa ṣàánú fún mi.”
Then she came and threw herself at His feet and entreated Him. "O Sir, help me," she said.
26 Ó sì dáhùn wí pé, “Kò tọ́ kí a gbé oúnjẹ àwọn ọmọ fún àwọn ajá.”
"It is not right," He said, "to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
27 Obìnrin náà sì wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ àwọn ajá a máa jẹ èrúnrún tí ó ti orí tábìlì olówó wọn bọ́ sílẹ̀.”
"Be it so, Sir," she said, "for even the dogs eat the scraps which fall from their masters' tables."
28 Jesu sì sọ fún obìnrin náà pé, “Ìgbàgbọ́ ńlá ni tìrẹ! A sì ti dáhùn ìbéèrè rẹ.” A sì mú ọmọbìnrin rẹ̀ láradá ní wákàtí kan náà.
"O woman," replied Jesus, "great is your faith: be it done to you as you desire." And from that moment her daughter was restored to health.
29 Jesu ti ibẹ̀ lọ sí Òkun Galili. Ó gun orí òkè, o sì jókòó níbẹ̀.
Again, moving thence, Jesus went along by the Lake of Galilee; and ascending the hill, He sat down there.
30 Ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá, àti àwọn arọ, afọ́jú, amúnkùn ún, odi àti ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn aláìsàn mìíràn. Wọ́n gbé wọn kalẹ̀ lẹ́sẹ̀ Jesu. Òun sì mú gbogbo wọn láradá.
Soon great crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were crippled in feet or hands, blind or dumb, and many besides, and they hastened to lay them at His feet. And He cured them,
31 Ẹnu ya ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn nígbà tí wọ́n rí àwọn odi tó ń sọ̀rọ̀, amúnkùn ún tó di alára pípé, arọ tí ó ń rìn àti àwọn afọ́jú tí ó ríran. Wọ́n sì ń fi ìyìn fún Ọlọ́run Israẹli.
so that the people were amazed to see the dumb speaking, the maimed with their hands perfect, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they gave the glory to the God of Israel.
32 Jesu pe àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sọ́dọ̀, ó wí pé, “Àánú àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí ṣe mí; nítorí wọ́n ti wà níhìn-ín pẹ̀lú mi fún ọjọ́ mẹ́ta gbáko báyìí. Wọn kò sì tún ní oúnjẹ mọ́. Èmi kò fẹ́ kí wọn padà lébi, nítorí òyì lè kọ́ wọn lójú ọ̀nà.”
But Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, "My heart yearns over this mass of people, for it is now the third day that they have been with me and they have nothing to eat. I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they should faint on the road."
33 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Níbo ni àwa yóò ti rí oúnjẹ ní ijù níhìn-ín yìí láti fi bọ́ ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn yìí?”
"Where can we," asked the disciples, "get bread enough in this remote place to satisfy so vast a multitude?"
34 Jesu sì béèrè pé, “Ìṣù àkàrà mélòó ni ẹ̀yin ní?” Wọ́n sì dáhùn pé, “Àwa ní ìṣù àkàrà méje pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹja wẹ́wẹ́ díẹ̀.”
"How many loaves have you?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they said, "and a few small fish."
35 Jesu sì sọ fún gbogbo ènìyàn kí wọn jókòó lórí ilẹ̀.
So He bade all the people sit down on the ground,
36 Òun sì mú ìṣù àkàrà méje náà àti ẹja náà. Ó sì fi ọpẹ́ fún Ọlọ́run, ó bù wọ́n sì wẹ́wẹ́, ó sì fi wọ́n fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀. Wọ́n sì pín in fún àwọn ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn náà.
and He took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks He broke them up and then distributed them to the disciples, and they to the people.
37 Gbogbo wọn jẹ, wọ́n sì yó. Lẹ́yìn náà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn sì ṣa èyí tókù, ẹ̀kún agbọ̀n méje ni èyí tó ṣẹ́kù jẹ́.
And they all ate and were satisfied. The broken portions that remained over they took up--seven full hampers.
38 Gbogbo wọn sì jẹ́ ẹgbàajì ọkùnrin láì kan àwọn obìnrin àti ọmọdé.
Those who ate were 4,000 adult men, without reckoning women and children.
39 Lẹ́yìn náà, Jesu rán àwọn ènìyàn náà lọ sí ilé wọn, ó sì bọ́ sínú ọkọ̀, ó rékọjá lọ sí ẹkùn Magadani.
He then dismissed the people, went on board the boat, and came into the district of Magadan.
