< Matthew 12 >

1 Ní àkókò náà ni Jesu ń la àárín oko ọkà kan lọ ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi, ebi sì ń pa àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀. Wọ́n sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí i ya orí ọkà, wọ́n sì ń jẹ ẹ́.
At that time Jesus went on the sabbath through the grain-fields; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of grain, and to eat.
2 Nígbà tí àwọn Farisi rí èyí. Wọ́n wí fún pé, “Wò ó! Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ ń ṣe ohun tí kò bá òfin mu ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi.”
But the Pharisees, seeing it, said to him, Lo! thy disciples are doing that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath.
3 Jesu dáhùn pé, “Ẹ̀yin kò ha ka ohun tí Dafidi ṣe nígbà tí ebi ń pa á àti àwọn tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
But he said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he and those who were with him were hungry?
4 Ó wọ inú ilé Ọlọ́run, òun àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ jẹ àkàrà tí a yà sọ́tọ̀, èyí tí kò yẹ fún wọn láti jẹ, bí kò ṣe fún àwọn àlùfáà nìkan.
how he went into the house of God, and they ate the show-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but for the priests alone?
5 Tàbí ẹ̀yin kò ti kà á nínú òfin pé ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi, àwọn àlùfáà tí ó wà ní tẹmpili ń ba ọjọ́ ìsinmi jẹ́ tí wọ́n sì wà láìjẹ̀bi.
Or have ye not read in the Law, that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
6 Ṣùgbọ́n mo wí fún yín, ẹni tí ó pọ̀ ju tẹmpili lọ wà níhìn-ín.
But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here.
7 Bí ó bá jẹ́ pé ẹ mọ ìtumọ̀ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí, ‘Àánú ni èmi ń fẹ́ kì í ṣe ẹbọ,’ ẹ̀yin kì bá tí dá aláìlẹ́ṣẹ̀ lẹ́bi.
But if ye had known what this meaneth, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice,” ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 Nítorí pé Ọmọ Ènìyàn jẹ́ Olúwa ọjọ́ ìsinmi.”
For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.
9 Nígbà tí Jesu kúrò níbẹ̀ ó lọ sí Sinagọgu wọn,
And departing thence, he went into their synagogue.
10 ọkùnrin kan tí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kan rọ wà níbẹ̀. Wọ́n ń wá ọ̀nà láti fi ẹ̀sùn kan Jesu, wọ́n béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ó tọ́ láti mú ènìyàn láradá ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi?”
And, lo! there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him.
11 Ó dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Bí ó bá jẹ́ wí pé bí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú yín bá ní àgùntàn kan ṣoṣo, tí ó sì bọ́ sínú kòtò ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi, ǹjẹ́ kì yóò dìímú, kí ó sì fà á jáde.
And he said to them, Who of you that owneth one sheep, if it fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it, and lift it out?
12 Ǹjẹ́ mélòó mélòó ní ènìyàn ní iye lórí ju àgùntàn kan lọ! Nítorí náà ó yẹ láti ṣe rere ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi.”
Of how much more worth now is a man than a sheep! So then it is lawful to do well on the sabbath.
13 Nígbà náà, ó sì wí fún ọkùnrin náà pé, “Na ọwọ́ rẹ,” bí òun sì ti nà án, ọwọ́ rẹ̀ sì bọ̀ sí ipò rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọwọ́ èkejì.
Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored sound as the other.
14 Síbẹ̀ àwọn Farisi jáde lọ pe ìpàdé láti dìtẹ̀ mú un àti bí wọn yóò ṣe pa Jesu.
Then the Pharisees went out, and consulted together against him, how they might destroy him.
15 Nígbà tí Jesu sì mọ̀, ó yẹra kúrò níbẹ̀. Ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn sì ń tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn, ó sì mú gbogbo àwọn aláìsàn láradá.
But Jesus, knowing it, withdrew from thence; and many followed him; and he healed them all,
16 Ṣùgbọ́n ó kìlọ̀ fún wọn pé kí wọ́n kí ó má ṣe fi òun hàn.
and strictly charged them not to make him known;
17 Èyí jẹ́ ìmúṣẹ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ èyí tí wòlíì Isaiah sọ nípa rẹ̀ pé,
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
18 “Ẹ wo ìránṣẹ́ mi ẹni tí mo yàn. Àyànfẹ́ mi ni ẹni tí inú mi dùn sí gidigidi; èmi yóò fi ẹ̀mí mi fún un. Òun yóò sì ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn kèfèrí.
“Behold my servant, whom I chose; my beloved, with whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will declare judgment to the nations.
19 Òun kì yóò jà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì yóò kígbe; ẹnikẹ́ni kì yóò gbọ́ ohùn rẹ ní ìgboro.
He will not strive, nor cry aloud, nor will any one hear his voice in the streets.
20 Koríko odò títẹ̀ kan ni òun kì yóò fọ́, àti òwú-fìtílà tí ń jó tan an lọ lòun kì yóò fẹ́ pa. Títí yóò fi mú ìdájọ́ dé ìṣẹ́gun.
A bruised reed he will not break, and smoking flax he will not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 Ní orúkọ rẹ̀ ni gbogbo kèfèrí yóò fi ìrètí wọn sí.”
And in his name will nations hope.”
22 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n mú ọkùnrin kan tó ni ẹ̀mí èṣù tọ̀ ọ́ wá, tí ó afọ́jú, tí ó tún ya odi. Jesu sì mú un láradá kí ó le sọ̀rọ̀, ó sì ríran.
Then was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw.
23 Ẹnu sì ya gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn. Wọ́n wí pé, “Èyí ha lè jẹ́ Ọmọ Dafidi bí?”
And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Is this the son of David?
24 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí àwọn Farisi gbọ́ èyí, wọ́n wí pé, “Nípa Beelsebulu nìkan, tí í ṣe ọba ẹ̀mí èṣù ni ọkùnrin yìí fi lé àwọn ẹ̀mí èṣù jáde.”
But the Pharisees, hearing it, said, This man doth not cast out the demons, except through Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.
25 Jesu tí ó mọ èrò wọn, ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ìjọbakíjọba tí ó bá yapa sí ara rẹ̀ yóò parun, ìlúkílùú tàbí ilékílé tí ó bá yapa sí ara rẹ̀ kì yóò dúró.
And he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and no city or house divided against itself will stand.
26 Bí èṣù bá sì ń lé èṣù jáde, a jẹ́ wí pé, ó ń yapa sí ara rẹ̀. Ìjọba rẹ yóò ha ṣe le dúró?
And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?
27 Àti pé, bi èmi bá ń lé àwọn ẹ̀mí èṣù jáde nípa Beelsebulu, nípa ta ni àwọn ènìyàn yín fi ń lé wọn jáde? Nítorí náà ni wọn yóò ṣe má ṣe ìdájọ́ yín.
And if I cast out the demons through Beelzebul, through whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore shall they be judges of you.
28 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ó bá jẹ́ pé nípa Ẹ̀mí Ọlọ́run ni èmi fi ń lé àwọn ẹ̀mí èṣù jáde, a jẹ́ pé ìjọba Ọlọ́run ti dé bá yín.
But if I cast out the demons through the Spirit of God, then hath the kingdom of God already come to you.
29 “Tàbí, báwo ni ẹnikẹ́ni ṣe lè wọ ilé alágbára lọ kí ó sì kó ẹrù rẹ̀, bí kò ṣe pé ó kọ́kọ́ di alágbára náà? Nígbà náà ni ó tó lè kó ẹrù rẹ̀ lọ.
Or how can one enter into a strong man's house, and seize upon his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then plunder his house?
30 “Ẹni tí kò bá wà pẹ̀lú mi, òun lòdì sí mi, ẹni tí kò bá mi kójọpọ̀ ń fọ́nká.
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Nítorí èyí, mo wí fún yín, gbogbo ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àti ọ̀rọ̀-òdì ni a yóò dárí rẹ̀ jí ènìyàn, ṣùgbọ́n ìsọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ kò ní ìdáríjì.
Therefore I say to you, All manner of sin and evil-speaking will be forgiven to men; but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
32 Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá sọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí Ọmọ Ènìyàn, a ó dáríjì í, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó bá sọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́, a kì yóò dáríjì í, ìbá à ṣe ní ayé yìí tàbí ní ayé tí ń bọ̀. (aiōn g165)
And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this world, or in the world to come. (aiōn g165)
33 “E sọ igi di rere, èso rẹ̀ a sì di rere tàbí kí ẹ sọ igi di búburú, èso rẹ a sì di búburú, nítorí nípa èso igi ni a ó fi mọ̀ igi.
Either say that the tree is good, and its fruit good; or say that the tree is bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers!
34 Ẹ̀yin ọmọ paramọ́lẹ̀, báwo ni ẹ̀yin tí ẹ jẹ búburú ṣe lè sọ̀rọ̀ rere? Ọkàn ènìyàn ni ó ń darí irú ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó lè jáde lẹ́nu rẹ̀.
How can ye, evil as ye are, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 Ẹni rere láti inú yàrá ìṣúra rere ọkàn rẹ̀ ní mú ohun rere jáde wá, àti ẹni búburú láti inú ìṣúra búburú ni; mu ohun búburú jáde wá.
The good man, from his good treasure, bringeth out good things; and the evil man, from his evil treasure, bringeth out evil things.
36 Ṣùgbọ́n, mo sọ èyí fún yín, ẹ̀yin yóò jíyìn gbogbo ìsọkúsọ yín ní ọjọ́ ìdájọ́.
And I say to you, that for every idle word that men shall speak, they will give account in the day of judgment.
37 Nítorí nípa ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu yín ni a fi dá yin láre, nípa ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu yín sì ni a ó fi dá yin lẹ́bi.”
For by thy words thou wilt be justified, and by thy words thou wilt be condemned.
38 Nígbà náà ni, díẹ̀ nínú àwọn Farisi àti àwọn olùkọ́ òfin wí fún pé “Olùkọ́, àwa fẹ́ rí iṣẹ́ àmì kan lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀”.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we wish to see a sign from thee.
39 Ó sì dá wọn lóhùn wí pé, “Ìran búburú àti ìran panṣágà ń béèrè àmì; ṣùgbọ́n kò sí àmì tí a ó fi fún un, bí kò ṣe àmì Jona wòlíì.
But he answered and said to them, A wicked and adulterous generation is seeking for a sign; and no sign will be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
40 Bí Jona ti gbé inú ẹja ńlá fún ọ̀sán mẹ́ta àti òru mẹ́ta, bẹ́ẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ ni ẹ̀mí Ọmọ Ènìyàn yóò gbé ní inú ilẹ̀ fún ọ̀sán mẹ́ta àti òru mẹ́ta.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 Àwọn ará Ninefe yóò dìde pẹ̀lú ìran yìí ní ọjọ́ ìdájọ́. Wọn yóò sì dá a lẹ́bi. Nítorí pé wọ́n ronúpìwàdà nípa ìwàásù Jona. Ṣùgbọ́n báyìí ẹni tí ó pọ̀jù Jona wà níhìn-ín yìí.
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, lo! something more than Jonah is here.
42 Ọbabìnrin gúúsù yóò sì dìde ní ọjọ́ ìdájọ́ sí ìran yìí yóò sì dá a lẹ́bi; nítorí tí ó wá láti ilẹ̀ ìkangun ayé láti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ọgbọ́n láti ẹnu Solomoni. Ṣùgbọ́n báyìí ẹni tí ó pọ̀jù Solomoni ń bẹ níhìn-ín yìí.
The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and lo! something more than Solomon is here.
43 “Nígbà tí ẹ̀mí búburú kan bá jáde lára ènìyàn, a máa rìn ní ibi gbígbẹ́, a máa wá ibi ìsinmi, kò sì ní rí i.
But when the unclean spirit is gone out from a man, it goeth through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.
44 Nígbà náà ni ẹ̀mí náà yóò wí pé, ‘Èmi yóò padà sí ara ọkùnrin tí èmí ti wá.’ Bí ó bá sì padà, tí ó sì bá ọkàn ọkùnrin náà ni òfìfo, a gbà á mọ́, a sì ṣe é ní ọ̀ṣọ́.
Then it saith, I will return to my house whence I came out. And on coming, it findeth it empty, and swept, and put in order.
45 Nígbà náà ni yóò lọ, yóò sì mú ẹ̀mí méje mìíràn pẹ̀lú ara rẹ̀, tí ó burú ju òun fúnra rẹ̀ lọ. Gbogbo wọn yóò sì wá sí inú rẹ̀, wọn yóò máa gbé ibẹ̀. Ìgbẹ̀yìn ọkùnrin náà a sì burú ju ìṣáájú rẹ̀ lọ. Bẹ́ẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ ni yóò rí fún ìran búburú yìí pẹ̀lú.”
Then it goeth and taketh with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter in, and dwell there; and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. So will it be also with this wicked generation.
46 Nígbà tí ó ń sọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí fún àwọn ènìyàn, wò ó, ìyá rẹ̀ àti àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀ dúró lóde, wọ́n fẹ́ bá a sọ̀rọ̀.
While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, lo! his mother and his brothers were standing without, seeking to speak with him.
47 Nígbà náà ni ẹnìkan wí fún un pé, “Ìyá rẹ àti àwọn arákùnrin rẹ ń dúró dè ọ́ lóde wọ́n ń fẹ́ bá ọ sọ̀rọ̀.”
And one said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brothers are standing without, seeking to speak with thee.
48 Ó sì fún ni èsì pé, “Ta ni ìyá mi? Ta ni àwọn arákùnrin mi?”
But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?
49 Ó nawọ́ sí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ó wí pé, “Wò ó, ìyá mi àti àwọn arákùnrin mi ni wọ̀nyí.”
And stretching forth his hand toward his disciples, be said, Behold, my mother and my brothers!
50 Nítorí náà, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ṣe ìfẹ́ Baba mi tí ń bẹ ní ọ̀run, ni arákùnrin mi àti arábìnrin mi àti ìyá mi.”
For whoever doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
