< Matthew 11 >
1 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí Jesu sì ti parí ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó ń sọ fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ méjìlá, ó ti ibẹ̀ rékọjá láti máa kọ́ni àti láti máa wàásù ní àwọn ìlú Galili gbogbo.
And it happened that when Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.
2 Nígbà tí Johanu gbọ́ ohun tí Kristi ṣe nínú ẹ̀wọ̀n, ó rán àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀
Now when John heard in prison the works of the Christ, he sent his disciples
3 láti béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Ṣe ìwọ ni ẹni tó ń bọ̀ wá tàbí kí a máa retí ẹlòmíràn?”
and said to him, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"
4 Jesu dáhùn ó wí pé, “Ẹ padà lọ, ẹ sì sọ fún Johanu ohun tí ẹ̀yin gbọ́, àti èyí tí ẹ̀yin rí.
And Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
5 Àwọn afọ́jú ń ríran, àwọn amúnkùn ún rìn, a ń wẹ àwọn adẹ́tẹ̀ mọ́ kúrò nínú ẹ̀tẹ̀ wọn, àwọn adití ń gbọ́rọ̀, a ń jí àwọn òkú dìde, a sì ń wàásù ìyìnrere fún àwọn òtòṣì.
the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
6 Alábùkún fún ni ẹni tí kò rí ohun ìkọ̀sẹ̀ nípa mi.”
And blessed is he who is not offended by me."
7 Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn Johanu ti lọ tán, Jesu bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í sọ fún ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn nípa ti Johanu: “Kí ni ẹ̀yin jáde lọ wò ní aginjù? Ewéko tí afẹ́fẹ́ ń mi?
And as these went their way, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
8 Bí kò bá ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, kí ni ẹ̀yin lọ òde lọ í wò? Ọkùnrin tí a wọ̀ ni aṣọ dáradára? Rárá àwọn ti ó wọ aṣọ dáradára wà ní ààfin ọba.
But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Look, those who wear soft things are in kings' houses.
9 Àní kí ní ẹ jáde láti lọ wò? Wòlíì? Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, mo wí fún yín, ó sì ju wòlíì lọ.”
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
10 Èyí ni ẹni tí a ti kọ̀wé rẹ̀ pé: “‘Èmi yóò rán ìránṣẹ́ mi síwájú rẹ, ẹni tí yóò tún ọ̀nà rẹ ṣe níwájú rẹ.’
This is the one of whom it is written, 'Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'
11 Lóòótọ́ ni mó wí fún yín, nínú àwọn tí a bí nínú obìnrin, kò sí ẹni tí ó tí í dìde tí ó ga ju Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi lọ, síbẹ̀ ẹni tí ó kéré jù ní ìjọba ọ̀run ni ó pọ̀jù ú lọ.
Truly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 Láti ìgbà ọjọ́ Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi títí di àkókò yìí ni ìjọba ọ̀run ti di à fi agbára wọ̀, àwọn alágbára ló ń fi ipá gbà á.
And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent are taking it by force.
13 Nítorí náà gbogbo òfin àti wòlíì ni ó sọtẹ́lẹ̀ kí Johanu kí ó tó dé.
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 Bí ẹ̀yin yóò bá gbà á, èyí ni Elijah tó ń bọ̀ wá.
And if you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.
15 Ẹni tí ó bá ní etí, kí ó gbọ́.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
16 “Kí ni èmi ìbá fi ìran yìí wé? Ó dàbí àwọn ọmọ kékeré tí ń jókòó ní ọjà tí wọ́n sì ń ké pe àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ wọn:
"But to what should I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions
17 “‘Àwa ń fun fèrè fún yín, ẹ̀yin kò jó; àwa kọrin ọ̀fọ̀ ẹ̀yin kò káàánú.’
and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance. We wailed in mourning, and you did not mourn.'
18 Nítorí Johanu wá kò bá a yín jẹ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò mu, ẹ̀yin sì wí pé, ‘Ó ní ẹ̀mí èṣù.’
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'
19 Ọmọ Ènìyàn wá bá a yín jẹun, ó sì bá yin mu, wọ́n wí pé, ‘Ọ̀jẹun àti ọ̀mùtí; ọ̀rẹ́ àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀.’ Ṣùgbọ́n a dá ọgbọ́n láre nípa ìṣe rẹ̀.”
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is justified by her children."
20 Nígbà náà ni Jesu bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í bá ìlú tí ó ti ṣe ọ̀pọ̀ iṣẹ́ ìyanu rẹ̀ wí, nítorí wọn kò ronúpìwàdà.
Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.
21 Ó wí pé, “Ègbé ni fún ìwọ Korasini, ègbé ni fún ìwọ Betisaida! Ìbá ṣe pé a ti ṣe àwọn iṣẹ́ ìyanu tí a ṣe nínú yín ní a ṣe ni Tire àti Sidoni, àwọn ènìyàn wọn ìbá ti ronúpìwàdà ti pẹ́ nínú aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ àti eérú.
"Woe to you, Chorazin. Woe to you, Bethsaida. For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 Ṣùgbọ́n mo wí fún yín, yóò sàn fún Tire àti Sidoni ní ọjọ́ ìdájọ́ jù fún yín.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
23 Àti ìwọ Kapernaumu, a ó ha gbé ọ ga sókè ọ̀run? Rárá, a ó rẹ̀ ọ́ sílẹ̀ sí ipò òkú. Nítorí, ìbá ṣe pé a ti ṣe iṣẹ́ ìyanu tí a ṣe nínú rẹ ní Sodomu, òun ìbá wà títí di òní. (Hadēs )
And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will be brought down to hell. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs )
24 Lóòótọ́ yóò sàn fún ilẹ̀ Sodomu ní ọjọ́ ìdájọ́ jù fún ìwọ lọ.”
But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, on the day of judgment, than for you."
25 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí pé, “Mo yìn ọ Baba, Olúwa ọ̀run àti ayé, nítorí ìwọ ti fi òtítọ́ yìí pamọ́ fún àwọn tó jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n àti amòye, Ìwọ sì ti fi wọ́n hàn fún àwọn ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́.
At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.
26 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, Baba, nítorí ó wù ọ́ láti ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.
Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.
All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.
28 “Ẹ wá sọ́dọ̀ mi gbogbo ẹ̀yin tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ tí a sì di ẹrù wíwúwo lé lórí, èmi yóò sì fún yín ní ìsinmi.
"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Ẹ gbé àjàgà mi wọ̀. Ẹ kọ́ ẹ̀kọ́ lọ́dọ̀ mi nítorí onínútútù àti onírẹ̀lẹ̀ ọkàn ni èmi, ẹ̀yin yóò sì ri ìsinmi fún ọkàn yín.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
30 Nítorí àjàgà mi rọrùn ẹrù mi sì fúyẹ́.”
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
