< Mark 1 >

1 Ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ ìyìnrere nípa Jesu Kristi, Ọmọ Ọlọ́run.
Beginning of the glad-message of Jesus Christ.
2 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ nínú ìwé wòlíì Isaiah pé, “Èmi yóò ran oníṣẹ́ mi síwájú rẹ, Ẹni tí yóò tún ọ̀nà rẹ ṣe.”
According as it is written in Isaiah the prophet—Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way, —
3 “Ohùn ẹni tí ń kígbe ní ijù, ‘Ẹ tún ọ̀nà Olúwa ṣe, ẹ ṣe ojú ọ̀nà rẹ̀ kí ó tọ́.’”
A voice of one crying aloud—In the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, straight, be making his paths.
4 Johanu dé, ẹni tí ó ń tẹnibọmi ní aginjù, tí ó sì ń wàásù ìtẹ̀bọmi ìrònúpìwàdà fún ìdáríjì ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
John the Immerser came, in the wilderness, proclaiming an immersion of repentance for remission of sins;
5 Gbogbo àwọn tí ń gbé ní agbègbè Judea, àti gbogbo ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu jáde tọ̀ ọ́ lọ, a sì ti ọwọ́ rẹ̀ tẹ gbogbo wọn bọ omi ni odò Jordani, wọ́n ń jẹ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wọn.
and there were going out unto him all the Judaea country and all they of Jerusalem, and were being immersed by him in the Jordan river, openly confessing their sins;
6 Johanu sì wọ aṣọ irun ìbákasẹ. Ó sì di àmùrè awọ mọ́ ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀. Eṣú àti oyin ìgàn sì ni oúnjẹ rẹ̀.
and John was clothed with camel’s-hair and a leathern girdle about his loins, and was eating locusts and wild honey;
7 Ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í wàásù wí pé, “Ẹnìkan tí ó tóbi jù mí lọ ń bọ̀ lẹ́yìn mi, okùn bàtà ẹsẹ̀ ẹni tí èmi kò tó ẹni tí ń tú.
and he proclaimed, saying—He that is mightier than I cometh after [me], of whom I am not worthy to stoop and unloose the strap of his sandals:
8 Èmi ń fi omi ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi yín, ṣùgbọ́n Òun yóò fi Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi yín.”
I, have immersed you, with water, —He, will immerse you, with the Holy Spirit.
9 Ó sì ṣe ní ọjọ́ kan Jesu ti Nasareti ti Galili jáde wá, a sì ti ọwọ́ Johanu ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi fún ní odò Jordani.
And it came to pass, in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed into the Jordan by John;
10 Lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀ tí Jesu ń ti inú omi jáde wá, ó rí ọ̀run tí ó ṣí sílẹ̀, Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ bí àdàbà sọ̀kalẹ̀ lé e lórí.
And, straightway, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rending asunder, and, the Spirit, as a dove, descending unto him;
11 Ohùn kan sì ti ọ̀run wá wí pé, “Ìwọ ni àyànfẹ́ Ọmọ mi, ẹni tí inú mi dùn sí gidigidi.”
and a voice [came] out of the heavens—Thou, art my Son, the Beloved, —In thee, I delight.
12 Lẹ́sẹ̀kan náà, Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ sì darí Jesu sí ijù,
And, straightway, the Spirit urgeth him forth into the wilderness;
13 Ó sì wà ní ogójì ọjọ́ ní aginjù. A sì ti ọwọ́ Satani dán an wò, ó sì wà pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹranko ìgbẹ́. Àwọn angẹli sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún un.
and he was in the wilderness, forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts, —and, the messengers, were ministering unto him.
14 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ọba Herodu ti fi Johanu sínú ẹ̀wọ̀n tan, Jesu lọ sí Galili, ó ń wàásù ìyìnrere ti ìjọba Ọlọ́run.
And after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the glad-message of God,
15 Ó sì kéde wí pé, “Àkókò náà dé wàyí, ìjọba Ọlọ́run kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀. Ẹ yípadà kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yín, kí ẹ sì gba ìyìnrere yìí gbọ́.”
[and saying]—The season is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God hath drawn near, —Repent ye, and have faith in the glad-message.
16 Ní ọjọ́ kan, bí Jesu ti ń rìn létí Òkun Galili, Ó rí Simoni àti Anderu arákùnrin rẹ̀, wọ́n ń fi àwọ̀n wọn pẹja torí pé apẹja ni wọ́n.
And, passing by near the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea, —for they were fishers;
17 Jesu sì ké sí wọn wí pé, “Ẹ máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn. Èmi yóò sì sọ yín di apẹja ènìyàn.”
and Jesus said unto them—Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men;
18 Ní kánkán wọ́n fi àwọ̀n wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì tọ̀ Ọ́ lẹ́yìn.
and, straightway, leaving the nets, they followed him.
19 Bí Ó sì ti rìn síwájú díẹ̀, ní etí Òkun, Ó rí Jakọbu ọmọ Sebede àti Johanu arákùnrin rẹ̀ nínú ọkọ̀, wọ́n ń tún àwọ̀n wọn ṣe.
And, going forward a little, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, and them who were in the boat putting in order the nets;
20 Ó sì ké sí àwọn náà lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀, wọ́n fi Sebede baba wọn sílẹ̀ nínú ọkọ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn alágbàṣe, wọ́n sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.
and, straightway, he called them, —and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat, with the hired men, they came away after him.
21 Lẹ́yìn náà, Jesu àti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ wọ ìlú Kapernaumu, nígbà tí ó di òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ ìsinmi, ó lọ sínú Sinagọgu, ó sì ń kọ́ni.
And they journey into Capernaum. And, straightway, on the Sabbath, entering into the synagogue, he began teaching;
22 Ẹnu sì ya ìjọ ènìyàn nítorí ìkọ́ni rẹ̀, nítorí pé ó ń kọ́ni bí ẹni tí ó ní àṣẹ, kì í ṣe bí àwọn olùkọ́ òfin ṣe ń kọ́ àwọn ènìyàn.
and they were being struck with astonishment at his teaching, —for he was teaching them as one having authority, and, not as the Scribes.
23 Ní àsìkò náà gan an ni ọkùnrin kan tí ó wà nínú Sinagọgu wọn, tí ó ní ẹ̀mí àìmọ́, bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í kígbe wí pé,
And, straightway, there was in their synagogue, a man in an impure spirit, —and he cried out aloud,
24 “Kí ni ìwọ ń wá lọ́dọ̀ wa, Jesu ti Nasareti? Ṣé ìwọ wá láti pa wá run ni? Èmí mọ ẹni tí ìwọ í ṣe; Ìwọ ní ẹni Mímọ́ Ọlọ́run!”
saying—What have we in common with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee, who thou art, The Holy One of God.
25 Jesu si bá a wí, ó wí pé, “Pa ẹnu rẹ mọ́, kí ó sì jáde kúrò lára rẹ̀.”
And Jesus rebuked him, [saying]—Be silenced, and come forth out of him!
26 Ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ náà sì gbé e ṣánlẹ̀ lógèdèǹgbé, ó ké ní ohùn rara, ó sì jáde kúrò lára ọkùnrin náà.
And the impure spirit, tearing him, and calling out with a loud voice, came forth out of him;
27 Ẹnu sì ya àwọn ènìyàn, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí wọ́n fi ń sọ láàrín ara wọn ohun tí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀. Wọ́n béèrè pẹ̀lú ìgbóná ara, pé, “Kí ni èyí? Irú ẹ̀kọ́ tuntun wo ni èyí? Ó ń fi agbára pàṣẹ fún àwọn ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ pàápàá wọ́n sì gbọ́ tirẹ̀.”
and they were amazed, one and all, so that they began to discuss among themselves, saying—What is this? New teaching! With authority, to the impure spirits also, he giveth orders, and they obey him!
28 Ìròyìn nípa rẹ̀ tàn ká gbogbo agbègbè Galili.
And forth went the report of him, straightway, on every hand, into the surrounding country of Galilee.
29 Nígbà tí wọn sì jáde kúrò nínú Sinagọgu, wọ́n lọ pẹ̀lú Jakọbu àti Johanu sí ilé Simoni àti Anderu.
And, straightway, out of the synagogue, going forth, he went unto the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 Ìyá ìyàwó Simoni tí ó dùbúlẹ̀ àìsàn ibà, wọ́n sì sọ fún Jesu nípa rẹ̀.
Now, the mother-in-law of Simon, was lying in a fever, and, straightway, they speak to him concerning her;
31 Ó sì tọ̀ ọ́ lọ, ó fà á lọ́wọ́, ó sì gbé e dìde; lójúkan náà ibà náà fi sílẹ̀, ó sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún wọn.
and, coming near, he raised her up, grasping her hand, —and the fever left her, and she began ministering unto them.
32 Nígbà tí ó di àṣálẹ́, tí oòrùn wọ̀, wọ́n gbé gbogbo àwọn aláìsàn àti àwọn tó ni ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ tọ̀ ọ́ wá.
And, evening arriving, when the sun went in, they were bearing unto him all who were sick, and them who were demonized;
33 Gbogbo ìlú si péjọ ni ẹnu-ọ̀nà.
and all the city was gathered unto the door;
34 Jesu sì wo ọ̀pọ̀ tí wọ́n ní onírúurú ààrùn sàn. Bákan náà ni ó lé ọ̀pọ̀ ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ jáde. Ṣùgbọ́n kò sì jẹ́ kí àwọn ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ náà kí ó sọ̀rọ̀, nítorí tí wọ́n mọ ẹni tí òun í ṣe.
and he cured many that were sick with divers diseases, and, many demons, he cast out, and suffered not the demons to be talking, —because they knew him [to be Christ].
35 Ní kùtùkùtù òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, kí ilẹ̀ tó mọ́, Jesu nìkan jáde lọ sí aginjù kan, láti lọ gbàdúrà.
And, very early by night arising, he went out [and departed] into a desert place, and, there, was praying;
36 Simoni àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ yòókù lọ láti wá a.
and Simon, and they who were with him, went in quest of him,
37 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì rí I, wọ́n sọ fún wí pé, “Gbogbo ènìyàn ń wá ọ!”
and found him, and say unto him—All, are seeking thee;
38 Jesu sì dáhùn wí pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a lọ sí àwọn ìlú mìíràn, kí ń lè wàásù níbẹ̀ pẹ̀lú. Nítorí èyí ni èmi sá à ṣe wá.”
and he saith unto them—Let us be going elsewhere, into the neighbouring country-towns, in order that, there also, I may be making proclamation, —for, to this end, came I forth;
39 Nítorí náà, ó ń kiri gbogbo agbègbè Galili, ó ń wàásù nínú Sinagọgu. Ó sì ń lé àwọn ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ jáde.
and he came, making proclamation, into their synagogues, throughout the whole of Galilee, —and, was casting the demons out.
40 Ọkùnrin adẹ́tẹ̀ kan tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀. Ó sì bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún ìmúláradá. Ó wí pé, “Bí ìwọ bá fẹ́, ìwọ lè mú mi láradá.”
And there cometh unto him, a leper, beseeching him and [kneeling], —saying unto him—If thou be willing, thou canst cleanse me;
41 Jesu kún fún àánú, ó na ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ó fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ bà a, ó wí pé, “Èmí fẹ́. Di mímọ́.”
and, moved with compassion, he stretched forth the hand, and touched him, and saith unto him—I am willing, Be cleansed!
42 Lójúkan náà ẹ̀tẹ̀ náà fi sílẹ̀ lọ, ọkùnrin náà sì rí ìwòsàn.
and, straightway, the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed;
43 Jesu sì kìlọ̀ fún un gidigidi
and, strictly charging him, straightway, he urged him forth;
44 Ó wí pé, “Lọ fi ara rẹ̀ hàn àlùfáà Júù fún àyẹ̀wò. Ṣùgbọ́n má ṣe dúró sọ ohunkóhun fún ẹnikẹ́ni ní ọ̀nà. Mú ẹ̀bùn lọ́wọ́, èyí tí Mose pàṣẹ fún adẹ́tẹ̀ tí a mú láradá. Èyí tí í ṣe ẹ̀rí pé, ó ti rí ìwòsàn.”
and saith unto him—Mind! unto no one, say aught, —but withdraw, thyself, show unto the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what things Moses enjoined, for a witness unto them.
45 Ṣùgbọ́n ó jáde lọ, ó bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í pòkìkí, ó ń tan ìròyìn kálẹ̀. Nítorí èyí, Jesu kò sì le wọ ìlú ní gbangba mọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ó wà lẹ́yìn odi ìlú ní aginjù. Síbẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn tọ̀ ọ́ wá láti ibi gbogbo.
But, he, going forth, began to be proclaiming many things, and blazing abroad the story, so that, no longer, was it possible for him, openly, into a city, to enter, —but, outside, in desert places, [was he], and they were coming unto him from every quarter.
