Luke 7
1 Nígbà tí ó sì parí gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ fun àwọn ènìyàn, ó wọ Kapernaumu lọ.
When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 Ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ balógun ọ̀rún kan, tí ó ṣọ̀wọ́n fún un, ṣàìsàn, ó sì ń kú lọ.
There a centurion's servant, who was highly regarded by his master, was sick and about to die.
3 Nígbà tí ó sì gbúròó Jesu, ó rán àwọn àgbàgbà Júù sí i, ó ń bẹ̀ ẹ́ pé kí ó wá mú ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ òun láradá.
The centurion heard about Jesus and sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ Jesu, wọ́n fi ìtara bẹ̀ ẹ́, pé, “Ó yẹ ní ẹni tí òun ìbá ṣe èyí fún.
When they came to Jesus, they earnestly pleaded with him, saying, “This man is worthy to have yoʋ do this for him,
5 Nítorí tí ó fẹ́ràn orílẹ̀-èdè wa, ó sì ti kọ́ Sinagọgu kan fún wa.”
for he loves our nation and built our synagogue for us.”
6 Jesu sì ń bá wọn lọ. Nígbà tí kò sì jìn sí etí ilé mọ́, balógun ọ̀rún náà rán àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ sí i, pé, “Olúwa, má ṣe yọ ara rẹ lẹ́nu, nítorí tí èmi kò yẹ tí ìwọ ìbá fi wọ abẹ́ òrùlé mi.
So Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yoʋrself, for I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof;
7 Nítorí náà èmi kò sì rò pé èmi náà yẹ láti tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ṣùgbọ́n sọ ní gbólóhùn kan, a ó sì mú ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ mi láradá.
therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to yoʋ. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 Nítorí èmi náà pẹ̀lú jẹ́ ẹni tí a fi sí abẹ́ àṣẹ, tí ó ní ọmọ-ogun lẹ́yìn mi, mo sì wí fún ọ̀kan pé, ‘Lọ,’ a sì lọ; àti fún òmíràn pé, ‘Wá,’ a sì wá; àti fún ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ mi pé, ‘Ṣe èyí,’ a sì ṣe é.”
For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 Nígbà tí Jesu gbọ́ nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ẹnu sì yà, ó sì yípadà sí ìjọ ènìyàn tí ń tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn, ó wí pé, “Mo wí fún yín pé èmi kò rí irú ìgbàgbọ́ ńlá bí èyí nínú àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at the centurion. And turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”
10 Nígbà tí àwọn oníṣẹ́ sì padà sí ilé, wọ́n bá ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ náà tí ń ṣàìsàn, ara rẹ̀ ti dá.
Then the men the centurion had sent returned to the house and found that the servant who had been sick was well.
11 Ní ọjọ́ kejì, ó lọ sí ìlú kan tí a ń pè ní Naini, àwọn púpọ̀ nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì ń bá a lọ àti ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn.
Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and many of his disciples went with him, along with a large crowd.
12 Bí ó sì ti súnmọ́ ẹnu ibodè ìlú náà, sì kíyèsi i, wọ́n ń gbé òkú ọkùnrin kan jáde, ọmọ kan ṣoṣo náà tí ìyá rẹ̀ bí, ó sì jẹ́ opó: ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn ìlú náà sì wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the one and only son of his mother (who was a widow). And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13 Nígbà tí Olúwa sì rí i, àánú rẹ̀ ṣe é, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Má sọkún mọ́.”
When the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14 Ó sì wá, ó sì fi ọwọ́ tọ́ pósí náà: àwọn tí ń rù ú dúró jẹ́. Ó sì wí pé, “Ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin, mo wí fún ọ, dìde!”
Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who were carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to yoʋ, arise!”
15 Ẹni tí ó kú náà sì dìde jókòó, ó bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí i fọhùn. Ó sì fà á lé ìyá rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́.
So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 Ẹ̀rù sì ba gbogbo wọn: wọ́n sì yin Ọlọ́run lógo, pé, “Wòlíì ńlá dìde nínú wa,” àti pé, “Ọlọ́run sì wá bẹ àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ wò!”
Then all the people were filled with awe and began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and, “God has visited his people.”
17 Òkìkí rẹ̀ sì kàn ní gbogbo Judea, àti gbogbo agbègbè tí ó yí i ká.
This news about Jesus then spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.
18 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn Johanu sì sọ gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí fún un.
John's disciples told him about all these things.
19 Nígbà tí Johanu sì pe àwọn méjì nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ó rán wọn sọ́dọ̀ Olúwa, wí pé, “Ìwọ ni ẹni tí ń bọ̀, tàbí kí a máa retí ẹlòmíràn?”
So John called two of his disciples and sent them to ask Jesus, “Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?”
20 Nígbà tí àwọn ọkùnrin náà sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n wí pé, “Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi rán wa sọ́dọ̀ rẹ, pé, ‘Ìwọ ni ẹni tí ń bọ̀, tàbí kí a máa retí ẹlòmíràn?’”
When the men came to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to yoʋ to ask, ‘Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?’”
21 Ní wákàtí náà, ó sì ṣe ìmúláradá ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ènìyàn nínú àìsàn, àti ààrùn, àti ẹ̀mí búburú; ó sì fi ìríran fún ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ àwọn afọ́jú.
Now in that very hour Jesus had healed many people of diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.
22 Jesu sì dáhùn ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ padà lọ, ẹ ròyìn nǹkan tí ẹ̀yin rí, tí ẹ̀yin sì gbọ́ fún Johanu: àwọn afọ́jú ń ríran, àwọn amúnkùn ún rìn, a sọ àwọn adẹ́tẹ̀ di mímọ́, àwọn adití ń gbọ́rọ̀, a ń jí àwọn òkú dìde, àti fún àwọn òtòṣì ni à ń wàásù ìyìnrere.
So Jesus replied to John's disciples, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23 Alábùkún fún sì ni ẹnikẹ́ni tí kò kọsẹ̀ lára mi.”
And blessed is anyone who does not take offense at me.”
24 Nígbà tí àwọn oníṣẹ́ Johanu padà lọ, ó bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í sọ fún ìjọ ènìyàn ní ti Johanu pé, “Kí ni ẹ̀yin jáde lọ sí ijù lọ wò? Ewéko tí afẹ́fẹ́ ń mì?
When John's messengers had gone away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 Ṣùgbọ́n kín ni ẹ̀yin jáde lọ wò? Ọkùnrin tí a wọ̀ ní aṣọ fẹ́lẹ́fẹ́lẹ́? Wò ó, àwọn tí á wọ̀ ní aṣọ ògo, tí wọ́n sì ń jayé, ń bẹ ní ààfin ọba!
What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and who live in luxury are in royal palaces.
26 Ṣùgbọ́n kí ni ẹ̀yin jáde lọ wò? Wòlíì? Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ó sì ju wòlíì lọ!
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27 Èyí yìí ni ẹni tí a ti kọ̀wé nítorí rẹ̀ pé: “‘Wò ó, èmi yóò rán oníṣẹ́ mi síwájú rẹ; ẹni tí yóò tún ọ̀nà rẹ ṣe níwájú rẹ.’
This is the one of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of yoʋ, who will prepare yoʋr way before yoʋ.’
28 Mo wí fún yín nínú àwọn tí a bí nínú obìnrin, kò sí wòlíì tí ó pọ̀ ju Johanu Onítẹ̀bọmi lọ, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó kéré jùlọ ní ìjọba Ọlọ́run, ó pọ̀jù ú lọ.”
For I tell you, among those born of women there is no prophet greater than John the Baptist, but whoever is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29 (Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí ó gbọ́ àti àwọn agbowó òde, wọ́n dá Ọlọ́run láre, nítorí tí a fi ìtẹ̀bọmi Johanu tẹ̀ wọn bọ mi.
(When all the people heard this, including the tax collectors, they affirmed that God's way was right, because they had been baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn Farisi àti àwọn amòfin kọ ète Ọlọ́run fún ara wọn, a kò bamitiisi wọn lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.)
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31 Jesu sì wí pé, “Kí ni èmi ìbá fi àwọn ènìyàn ìran yìí wé? Kí ni wọ́n sì jọ?
Jesus went on to say, “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?
32 Wọ́n dàbí àwọn ọmọ kékeré tí ó jókòó ní ibi ọjà, tí wọ́n sì ń kọ sí ara wọn, tí wọ́n sì ń wí pé, “‘Àwa fọn fèrè fún yín, ẹ̀yin kò jó, àwa sì ṣọ̀fọ̀ fún yín, ẹ̀yin kò sọkún!’
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not weep.’
33 Nítorí Johanu Onítẹ̀bọmi wá, kò jẹ àkàrà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sì mu ọtí wáìnì, ẹ̀yin sì wí pé, ‘Ó ní ẹ̀mí èṣù?’
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34 Ọmọ ènìyàn dé, ó ń jẹ, ó sì ń mu, ẹ̀yin sì wí pé, ‘Wò ó, ọ̀jẹun, àti ọ̀mùtí, ọ̀rẹ́ àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀!’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35 Ṣùgbọ́n ọgbọ́n ni a dá láre nípasẹ̀ ọmọ rẹ.”
Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”
36 Farisi kan sì rọ̀ ọ́ kí ó wá bá òun jẹun, ó sì wọ ilé Farisi náà lọ ó sì jókòó láti jẹun.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, so he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table.
37 Sì kíyèsi i, obìnrin kan wà ní ìlú náà, ẹni tí i ṣe ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀, nígbà tí ó mọ̀ pé Jesu jókòó, ó ń jẹun ní ilé Farisi, ó mú ṣágo kékeré alabasita òróró ìkunra wá,
And behold, when a woman in that city who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 Ó sì dúró tì í lẹ́bàá ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ lẹ́yìn, ó ń sọkún, ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí i fi omijé wẹ̀ ẹ́ ní ẹsẹ̀, ó sì ń fi irun orí rẹ nù ún nù, ó sì ń fi ẹnu kò ó ní ẹsẹ̀, ó sì ń fi òróró kùn wọ́n.
As she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Nígbà tí Farisi tí ó pè é sì rí i, ó wí nínú ara rẹ̀ pé, “Ọkùnrin yìí ìbá ṣe wòlíì, ìbá mọ ẹni àti irú ẹni tí obìnrin yìí jẹ́ tí ń fi ọwọ́ kàn an, nítorí ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ ni.”
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesu sì dáhùn, ó wí fún un pé, “Simoni, Mo ní ohun kan sọ fún ọ.” Ó sì dáhùn pé, “Olùkọ́ máa wí.”
Jesus said to him in response, “Simon, I have something to say to yoʋ.” So he said, “Say it, Teacher.”
41 “Ayánilówó kan wà tí ó ní ajigbèsè méjì: ọ̀kan jẹ ẹ́ ní ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀ta owó idẹ, èkejì sì jẹ ẹ́ ní àádọ́ta.
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. The one owed him five hundred denarii, and the other owed him fifty.
42 Nígbà tí wọn kò sì ní ohun tí wọn ó san, ó dáríjì àwọn méjèèjì. Wí nínú àwọn méjèèjì, ta ni yóò fẹ́ ẹ jù?”
When they did not have the means to repay, he forgave the debts of them both. So tell me, which of them will love him more?”
43 Simoni dáhùn wí pé, “Mo ṣe bí ẹni tí ó dáríjì jù ni.” Jesu wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ti dájọ́ náà dáradára.”
Simon answered, “I suppose that it would be the one for whom he forgave the larger debt.” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have judged correctly.”
44 Ó sì yípadà sí obìnrin náà, ó wí fún Simoni pé, “Wo obìnrin yìí? Èmi wọ ilé rẹ, ìwọ kò fi omi wẹ ẹsẹ̀ fún mi: ṣùgbọ́n, omijé rẹ̀ ni ó fi ń rọ̀jò sí mi lẹ́sẹ̀ irun orí ni ó fi ń nù wọ́n nù.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do yoʋ see this woman? When I came into yoʋr house, yoʋ did not give me water for my feet, but this woman has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 Ìwọ kò fi ìfẹnukonu fún mi: ṣùgbọ́n òun, nígbà tí mo ti wọ ilé, kò dẹ́kun ẹnu fífi kò mí lẹ́sẹ̀.
Yoʋ did not give me a kiss, but from the time I came in, this woman has not stopped kissing my feet.
46 Ìwọ kò fi òróró pa mí lórí, ṣùgbọ́n òun ti fi òróró pa mí lẹ́sẹ̀.
Yoʋ did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Ǹjẹ́ mo wí fún ọ, A dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀ tí ó pọ̀ jì í: nítorí tí ó ní ìfẹ́ púpọ̀: ẹni tí a sì dárí díẹ̀ jì, òun náà ni ó ní ìfẹ́ díẹ̀.”
Therefore I tell yoʋ, her many sins are forgiven; that is why she has shown great love. But he to whom little is forgiven shows little love.”
48 Ó sì wí fún un pé, “A dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ jì ọ́!”
Then Jesus said to her, “Yoʋr sins are forgiven.”
49 Àwọn tí ó bá a jókòó jẹun sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í rò nínú ara wọn pé, “Ta ni èyí tí ń dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ji ni pẹ̀lú?”
Those who were reclining at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man that even forgives sins?”
50 Ó sì dáhùn wí fún obìnrin náà pé, “Ìgbàgbọ́ rẹ gbà ọ́ là, máa lọ ní àlàáfíà.”
And Jesus said to the woman, “Yoʋr faith has saved yoʋ; go in peace.”
