< Luke 5 >

1 Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí ìjọ ènìyàn súnmọ́ ọn láti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run, tí ó sì dúró létí adágún Genesareti.
Once, when the people were pressing around Jesus as they listened to God’s message, he happened to be standing by the shore of the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats close to the shore.
2 Ó rí ọkọ̀ méjì ti o wá létí adágún: èyí tí àwọn apẹja ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ kúrò nínú wọn, nítorí tí wọ́n ń fọ àwọ̀n wọn.
The fishermen had gone away from them and were washing the nets.
3 Ó sì wọ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọkọ̀ náà, tí í ṣe ti Simoni, ó sì bẹ̀ ẹ́ kí ó tì í sí ẹ̀yìn díẹ̀ kúrò ní ilẹ̀. Ó sì jókòó, ó sì ń kọ́ ìjọ ènìyàn láti inú ọkọ̀ náà.
So, getting into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, Jesus asked him to push off a little way from the shore, and then sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 Bí ó sì ti dákẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ, ó wí fún Simoni pé, “Tì í sí ibú, kí o sì ju àwọ̀n yín sí ìsàlẹ̀ fún àkópọ̀.”
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Push off into deep water, and throw out your nets for a haul.”
5 Simoni sì dáhùn ó sì wí fún un pé, “Olùkọ́ni, gbogbo òru ni àwa fi ṣiṣẹ́, àwa kò sì mú nǹkan kan: ṣùgbọ́n nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ èmi ó ju àwọ̀n náà sí ìsàlẹ̀.”
“We have been hard at work all night, Sir,” answered Simon, “and have not caught anything, but, at your bidding, I will throw out the nets.”
6 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì ti ṣe èyí, wọ́n kó ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹja: àwọ̀n wọn sì ya.
They did so, and enclosed such a great shoal of fish that their nets began to break.
7 Wọ́n sì pe àwọn ẹgbẹ́ wọn, tí ó wà nínú ọkọ̀ kejì, kí wọn kí ó wá ràn wọ́n lọ́wọ́. Wọ́n sì wá, wọ́n kó ẹja ọkọ̀ méjèèjì sì kún, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í rì.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; and they came and filled both the boats so full of fish that they were almost sinking.
8 Nígbà tí Simoni Peteru sì rí i, ó wólẹ̀ lẹ́bàá eékún Jesu, ó wí pé, “Lọ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ mi Olúwa; nítorí ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ ni mí.”
When Simon Peter saw this, he threw himself down at Jesus’ knees, exclaiming, “Master, leave me, for I am a sinful man!”
9 Ẹnu sì yà wọ́n, àti gbogbo àwọn tí ń bẹ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, fún àkópọ̀ ẹja tí wọ́n kó,
For he and all who were with him were lost in amazement at the haul of fish which they had made;
10 bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Jakọbu àti Johanu àwọn ọmọ Sebede, tí ń ṣe alábákẹ́gbẹ́ Simoni. Jesu sì wí fún Simoni pé, “Má bẹ̀rù; láti ìsinsin yìí lọ ìwọ ó máa mú ènìyàn.”
and so, too, were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners. “Do not be afraid,” Jesus said to Simon, “from today you will catch people.”
11 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì ti mú ọkọ̀ wọn dé ilẹ̀, wọ́n fi gbogbo rẹ̀ sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn lọ.
And, when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything, and followed him.
12 Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí Jesu wọ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìlú náà, kíyèsi i, ọkùnrin kan tí ẹ̀tẹ̀ bò wa síbẹ̀: nígbà tí ó rí Jesu, ó wólẹ̀, ó sì ń bẹ̀ ẹ́, wí pé, “Olúwa, bí ìwọ bá fẹ́, ìwọ lè sọ mí di mímọ́.”
On one occasion Jesus was staying in a town, when he saw a man who was covered with leprosy. When the leper saw Jesus, he threw himself on his face and implored his help, “Master, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean.”
13 Jesu sì na ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ó fi kàn án, ó ní, “Mo fẹ́, ìwọ di mímọ́!” Lójúkan náà ẹ̀tẹ̀ sì fi í sílẹ̀ lọ.
Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying as he did so, “I am willing; become clean.” Instantly the leprosy left the man;
14 Ó sì kìlọ̀ fún u pé, “Kí ó má ṣe sọ fún ẹnìkan: ṣùgbọ́n kí ó lọ, kí ó sì fi ara rẹ̀ hàn fún àlùfáà, kí ó sì ta ọrẹ fún ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mose ti pàṣẹ gẹ́gẹ́ bi ẹ̀rí fun wọn.”
and then Jesus impressed on him that he was not to say a word to anyone, “but,” he added, “set out and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing, in the manner directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
15 Ṣùgbọ́n òkìkí rẹ̀ ń kàn kálẹ̀: tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn sì jùmọ̀ pàdé láti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀, àti láti gba ìwòsàn lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ kúrò lọ́wọ́ àìlera wọn.
However, the story about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came together to listen to him, and to be cured of their illnesses;
16 Ṣùgbọ́n lọ́pọ̀ ìgbà ni Jesu a máa yẹra kúrò si ibi ìdákẹ́rọ́rọ́, òun á sì máa dá wà láti gbàdúrà.
but Jesus used to withdraw to lonely places and pray.
17 Ní ọjọ́ kan, bí ó sì ti ń kọ́ni, àwọn Farisi àti àwọn amòfin jókòó pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, àwọn tí ó ti àwọn ìletò Galili gbogbo, àti Judea, àti Jerusalẹmu wá: agbára Olúwa sì ń bẹ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ láti mú wọn láradá.
On one of those days, when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and Doctors of the Law were sitting near by. (They had come from all the villages in Galilee and Judea, and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was on Jesus, so that he could work cures.)
18 Sá à sì kíyèsi i, àwọn ọkùnrin kan gbé ẹnìkan tí ó ní ààrùn ẹ̀gbà wà lórí àkéte: wọ́n ń wá ọ̀nà àti gbé e wọlé, àti láti tẹ́ ẹ síwájú Jesu.
And there some men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed. They tried to get him in and lay him before Jesus;
19 Nígbà tí wọn kò sì rí ọ̀nà tí wọn ìbá fi gbé e wọlé nítorí ìjọ ènìyàn, wọ́n gbé e gun òkè àjà ilé lọ, wọ́n sọ̀ ọ́ kalẹ̀ sí àárín èrò ti òun ti àkéte rẹ̀ níwájú Jesu.
but, finding no way of getting him in owing to the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him through the tiles, with his pallet, into the middle of the people and in front of Jesus.
20 Nígbà tí ó sì rí ìgbàgbọ́ wọn, ó wí pé, “Ọkùnrin yìí, a darí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ jì ọ́.”
When he saw their faith, Jesus said, “Friend, your sins have been forgiven you.”
21 Àwọn akọ̀wé àti àwọn Farisi bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í gbèrò wí pé, “Ta ni eléyìí tí ń sọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì? Ta ni ó lè dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ji ni bí kò ṣe Ọlọ́run nìkan ṣoṣo.”
The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees began debating about this. “Who is this man who speaks so blasphemously?” they asked. “Who can forgive sins except God?”
22 Jesu sì mọ èrò inú wọn, ó dáhùn ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Èéṣe tí ẹ fi ń ro nǹkan wọ̀nyí nínú ọkàn yín?
When Jesus became aware of the way in which they were debating, he turned to them and exclaimed, “What are you debating with yourselves?
23 Èwo ni ó yá jù: láti wí pé, ‘A dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ jì ọ́,’ tàbí láti wí pé, ‘Dìde kí ìwọ sì máa rìn’?
Which is the easier? – to say ‘Your sins have been forgiven you’? Or to say ‘Get up, and walk’?
24 Ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ̀yin lè mọ̀ pé Ọmọ Ènìyàn ní agbára ní ayé láti dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ji ni.” Ó wí fún ẹlẹ́gbà náà pé, “Mo wí fún ọ, dìde, sì gbé àkéte rẹ, kí o sì máa lọ sí ilé!”
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” – he spoke to the paralyzed man – “To you I say, Get up, and take up your pallet, and go to your home.”
25 Ó sì dìde lọ́gán níwájú wọn, ó gbé ohun tí ó dùbúlẹ̀ lé, ó sì lọ sí ilé rẹ̀, ó yin Ọlọ́run lógo.
Instantly the man stood up before their eyes, took up what he had been lying on, and went to his home, praising God.
26 Ẹnu sì ya gbogbo wọn, wọ́n sì yin Ọlọ́run lógo, ẹ̀rù sì bà wọ́n, wọ́n ń wí pé, “Àwa rí ohun ìyanu lónìí.”
The people, one and all, were lost in amazement, and praised God; and in great awe they said, “We have seen marvelous things today!”
27 Lẹ́hìn èyí, Jesu jáde lọ, ó sì rí agbowó òde kan tí à ń pè ní Lefi, ó jókòó sí ibi tí ó ti ń gba owó òde, Jesu sì wí fún un pé, “Tẹ̀lé mi,”
After this, Jesus went out; and he noticed a tax-gatherer, named Levi, sitting in the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me.”
28 Lefi sì fi ohun gbogbo sílẹ̀ ó sì ń tẹ̀lé e.
Levi left everything and got up and followed him.
29 Lefi sì ṣe àsè ńlá kan fún Jesu ní ilé rẹ̀, ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn mìíràn sì ń jẹun pẹ̀lú wọn.
And Levi gave a great banquet at his house, in honor of Jesus; and a large number of tax collectors and others were having dinner with them.
30 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn Farisi, àwọn olùkọ́ òfin tí ó jẹ́ ara wọn fi ẹ̀sùn kan àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn pe, “Èéṣe tí ẹ̀yin fi ń jẹun tí ẹ sì ń mú pẹ̀lú àwọn agbowó òde àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀.”
The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law belonging to their party complained of this to the disciples of Jesus.
31 Jesu dáhùn ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹni tí ara rẹ̀ le kò nílò oníṣègùn, bí kò ṣe ẹni tí ara rẹ̀ kò dá.
In answer Jesus said, “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are ill.
32 Èmí kò wá láti pe àwọn olódodo bí kò ṣe àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ìrònúpìwàdà.”
I have not come to call the religious, but the outcast, to repent.”
33 Wọ́n wí fún pé, “Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn Johanu a máa gbààwẹ̀, wọn a sì máa gbàdúrà, bẹ́ẹ̀ pẹ̀lú sì ni àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn àwọn Farisi ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ a máa jẹ, wọn a sì máa mu pẹ̀lú.”
“John’s disciples,” they said to Jesus, “Often fast and say prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, while yours are eating and drinking!”
34 Jesu sì dáhùn ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ó ṣe é ṣe kí àwọn àlejò ọkọ ìyàwó máa gbààwẹ̀ nígbà tí ọkọ ìyàwó wà pẹ̀lú wọn bí?
But Jesus answered them, “Can you make the groom’s friends fast while the groom is with them?
35 Ṣùgbọ́n àkókò ń bọ̀ nígbà tí a ó gba ọkọ ìyàwó kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn, ní àwọn ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí ni wọn yóò gbààwẹ̀.”
But the days will come – a time when the groom will be taken away from them; and they will fast then, when those days come.”
36 Ó sì pa òwe yìí fún wọn wí pé, “Kò sí ẹni tó lè ya aṣọ tuntun kí ó sì rán mọ́, èyí tó ti gbó. Tí ó ba ṣe èyí, yóò ba aṣọ tuntun jẹ́, èyí tí ó tuntun náà kì yóò sì dọ́gba pẹ̀lú èyí tí ó ti gbó.
Then, as an illustration, Jesus said to them, “No one ever tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old one; for, if they do, they will not only tear the new garment, but the piece from the new one will not match the old.
37 Àti wí pé, kò sí ẹni tí ó lè dá ọtí wáìnì tuntun sínú ògbólógbòó ìgò-awọ, tí ó bá ṣe èyí, wáìnì tuntun yóò fa awọ náà ya, wáìnì náà yóò dànù, awọ náà a sì bàjẹ́.
And no one puts new wine into old wine-skins; for, if they do, the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine itself will run out, and the skins be lost.
38 Nítorí náà, ó tọ́ kí á da wáìnì tuntun sínú awọ tuntun.
But new wine must be put into fresh skins.
39 Kò sì ẹni tí yóò fẹ́ láti mu wáìnì tuntun lẹ́yìn tí ó bá ti mu ògbólógbòó tán, nítorí yóò wí pé, ‘Èyí tí ó jẹ́ ògbólógbòó dára jù.’”
No one after drinking old wine wishes for new. ‘No,’ they say, ‘the old is excellent.’”
