< Lamentations 3 >
1 Èmi ni ọkùnrin tí ó rí ìpọ́njú pẹ̀lú ọ̀pá ìbínú rẹ.
I AM the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 Ó ti lé mi jáde ó sì mú mi rìn nínú òkùnkùn ju ti ìmọ́lẹ̀.
He hath led me and caused me to walk in darkness and not in light.
3 Nítòótọ́, ó ti yí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ padà sí mi síwájú àti síwájú sí i ní gbogbo ọjọ́.
Surely against me he turneth his hand again and again all the day.
4 Ó jẹ́ kí àwọ̀ mi àti ẹran-ara mi gbó ó sì tún ṣẹ́ egungun mi.
My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 Ó ti fi mí sí ìgbèkùn, ó sì ti yí mi ká pẹ̀lú ìkorò àti làálàá.
He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 Ó mú mi gbé nínú òkùnkùn, bí ti àwọn tó ti kú fún ìgbà pípẹ́.
He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.
7 Ó ti tì mí mọ́ ilé, nítorí náà n kò le è sálọ; ó ti fi ẹ̀wọ̀n mú mi mọ́lẹ̀.
He hath fenced me about, that I cannot go forth; he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Pàápàá nígbà tí mo ké fún ìrànlọ́wọ́, ó kọ àdúrà mi.
Yea, when I cry and call for help, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 Ó fi ògiri òkúta dí ọ̀nà mi; ó sì mú ọ̀nà mi wọ́.
He hath fenced up my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 Bí i beari tí ó dùbúlẹ̀, bí i kìnnìún tí ó sá pamọ́.
He is unto me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places.
11 Ó wọ́ mi kúrò ní ọ̀nà, ó tẹ̀ mí mọ́lẹ̀ ó fi mi sílẹ̀ láìsí ìrànlọ́wọ́.
He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
12 Ó fa ọfà rẹ̀ yọ ó sì fi mí ṣe ohun ìtafàsí.
He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Ó fa ọkàn mí ya pẹ̀lú ọfà nínú àkọ̀ rẹ̀.
He hath caused the shafts of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 Mo di ẹni yẹ̀yẹ́ láàrín àwọn ènìyàn mi; wọn yẹ̀yẹ́ mi pẹ̀lú orin ní gbogbo ọjọ́.
I am become a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 Ó ti kún mi pẹ̀lú ewé kíkorò àti ìdààmú bí omi.
He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath sated me with wormwood.
16 Ó ti fi òkúta kán eyín mi; ó ti tẹ̀ mí mọ́lẹ̀ nínú eruku.
He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 Mo ti jìnnà sí àlàáfíà; mo ti gbàgbé ohun tí àṣeyege ń ṣe.
And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace; I forgat prosperity.
18 Nítorí náà mo wí pé, “Ògo mi ti lọ àti ìrètí mi nínú Olúwa.”
And I said, My strength is perished, and mine expectation from the LORD.
19 Mo ṣe ìrántí ìpọ́njú àti ìdààmú mi, ìkorò àti ìbànújẹ́.
Remember mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 Mo ṣèrántí wọn, ọkàn mi sì gbọgbẹ́ nínú mi.
My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is bowed down within me.
21 Síbẹ̀, èyí ni mo ní ní ọkàn àti nítorí náà ní mo nírètí.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 Nítorí ìfẹ́ Olúwa tí ó lágbára ni àwa kò fi ṣègbé, nítorí ti àánú rẹ kì í kùnà.
[It is of] the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 Wọ́n jẹ́ ọ̀tún ní àárọ̀; títóbi ni òdodo rẹ̀.
They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
24 Mo wí fún ara mi, ìpín mi ni Olúwa; nítorí náà èmi yóò dúró dè ọ́.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 Dídára ni Olúwa fún àwọn tí ó ní ìrètí nínú rẹ̀, sí àwọn tí ó ń wá a.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 Ó dára kí a ní sùúrù fún ìgbàlà Olúwa.
It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
27 Ó dára fún ènìyàn láti gbé àjàgà nígbà tí ó wà ní èwe.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 Jẹ́ kí ó jókòó ní ìdákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́, nítorí Olúwa ti fi fún un.
Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he hath laid it upon him.
29 Jẹ́ kí ó bo ojú rẹ̀ sínú eruku— ìrètí sì lè wà.
Let him put his mouth in the dust; if so be there may he hope.
30 Jẹ́ kí ó fi ẹ̀rẹ̀kẹ́ fún àwọn tí yóò gbá a, sì jẹ́ kí ó wà ní ìdójútì.
Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach.
31 Ènìyàn kò di ìtanù lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa títí láé.
For the Lord will not cast off for ever.
32 Lóòtítọ́ ó mú ìbànújẹ́ wá, yóò fi àánú hàn, nítorí títóbi ni ìfẹ́ rẹ̀.
For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 Nítorí kò mọ̀ ọ́n mọ̀ mú ìpọ́njú wá tàbí ìrora wá fún ọmọ ènìyàn.
For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
34 Láti tẹ mọ́lẹ̀ lábẹ́ ẹsẹ̀ gbogbo àwọn ẹlẹ́wọ̀n ní ilẹ̀ náà.
To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
35 Láti ṣẹ́ ọmọ ènìyàn fún ẹ̀tọ́ rẹ̀ níwájú Ọ̀gá-ògo jùlọ,
To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
36 láti yí ìdájọ́ ènìyàn padà, ǹjẹ́ Olúwa kò rí ohun bẹ́ẹ̀.
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
37 Ta ni yóò sọ̀rọ̀ tí yóò rí bẹ́ẹ̀ tí Olúwa kò bá fi àṣẹ sí i.
Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
38 Ǹjẹ́ kì í ṣe láti ẹnu Ọ̀gá-ògo jùlọ ni rere àti búburú tí ń wá?
Out of the mouth of the Most High cometh there not evil and good?
39 Kí ló dé tí ẹ̀dá alààyè ṣe ń kùn nígbà tí ó bá ń jìyà ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Ẹ jẹ́ kí a yẹ ọ̀nà wa, kí a sì dán an wò, kí a sì tọ Olúwa lọ.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
41 Ẹ jẹ́ kí a gbé ọkàn àti ọwọ́ wa sókè sí Ọlọ́run ní ọ̀run, kí a wí pé,
Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 “Àwa ti ṣẹ̀ a sì ti ṣọ̀tẹ̀ ìwọ kò sì fi ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa jì wá.
We have transgressed and have rebelled; thou hast not pardoned.
43 “Ìwọ fi ìbínú bo ara rẹ ìwọ sì ń lépa wa; ìwọ ń parun láìsí àánú.
Thou hast covered with anger and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 Ìwọ ti fi àwọsánmọ̀ bo ara rẹ pé kí àdúrà wa má ba à dé ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ.
Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that [our] prayer should not pass through.
45 Ó ti sọ wá di èérí àti ààtàn láàrín orílẹ̀-èdè gbogbo.
Thou hast made us [as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
46 “Gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá wa ti la ẹnu wọn gbòòrò sí wa.
all our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
47 Àwa ti jìyà àti ìparun, nínú ìbẹ̀rù àti ewu.”
Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and destruction.
48 Omijé ń sàn ní ojú mi bí odò nítorí a pa àwọn ènìyàn mi run.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Ojú mi kò dá fún omijé, láì sinmi,
Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
50 títí ìgbà tí Olúwa yóò síjú wolẹ̀ láti òkè ọ̀run tí yóò sì rí i.
Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Ohun tí mo rí mú ìbẹ̀rù wá ọkàn mi nítorí gbogbo àwọn obìnrin ìlú mi.
Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Àwọn tí ó jẹ́ ọ̀tá mi láìnídìí dẹ mí bí ẹyẹ.
They have chased me sore like a bird, that are mine enemies without cause.
53 Wọ́n gbìyànjú láti mú òpin dé bá ayé mi nínú ihò wọ́n sì ju òkúta lù mí.
They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone upon me.
54 Orí mi kún fún omi, mo sì rò pé ìgbẹ̀yìn dé.
Waters flowed over mine head; I said, I am cut off.
55 Mo pe orúkọ rẹ, Olúwa, láti ọ̀gbun ìsàlẹ̀ ihò.
I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the lowest dungeon.
56 Ìwọ gbọ́ ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi, “Má ṣe di etí rẹ sí igbe ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi fún ìtura.”
Thou heardest my voice; hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 O wá tòsí nígbà tí mo ké pè ọ́, o sì wí pé, “Má ṣe bẹ̀rù.”
Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
58 Olúwa, ìwọ gba ẹjọ́ mi rò, o ra ẹ̀mí mi padà.
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
59 O ti rí i, Olúwa, búburú tí a ṣe sí mi. Gba ẹjọ́ mi ró!
O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong; judge thou my cause.
60 Ìwọ ti rí ọ̀gbun ẹ̀san wọn, gbogbo ìmọ̀ wọn sí mi.
Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their devices against me.
61 Olúwa ìwọ ti gbọ́ ẹ̀gàn wọn àti ìmọ̀ búburú wọn sí mi,
Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their devices against me;
62 ohun tí àwọn ọ̀tá mi ń sọ sí mi ní gbogbo ọjọ́.
The lips of those that rose up against me, and their imagination against me all the day.
63 Wò wọ́n! Ní jíjòkòó tàbí ní dídìde, wọ́n ń ṣẹlẹ́yà mi nínú orin wọn.
Behold thou their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their song.
64 Olúwa san wọ́n lẹ́san ohun tí ó tọ́ sí wọn fún ohun tí ọwọ́ wọn ti ṣe.
Thou wilt render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
65 Fi ìbòjú bò wọ́n ní ọkàn, kí o sì fi wọ́n ré.
Thou wilt give them hardness of heart, thy curse unto them.
66 Ni wọ́n lára kí o sì pa wọ́n run pẹ̀lú ìbínú, lábẹ́ ọ̀run Olúwa.
Thou wilt pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of the LORD.
