< Judges 19 >

1 Ní ọjọ́ wọ̀n-ọn-nì Israẹli kò ní ọba. Ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ Lefi tí ń gbé ibi tí ó sá pamọ́ nínú àwọn agbègbè òkè Efraimu, mú àlè kan láti Bẹtilẹhẹmu ní Juda.
And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the farther side of the hill-country of Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Beth-lehem-judah.
2 Ṣùgbọ́n àlè rẹ̀ náà sì ṣe panṣágà sí i, òun fi sílẹ̀, ó sì padà lọ sí ilé baba rẹ̀ ní Bẹtilẹhẹmu ti Juda, ó sì wà ní ibẹ̀ ní ìwọ̀n oṣù mẹ́rin,
And his concubine played the harlot against him, and went away from him unto her father’s house to Beth-lehem-judah, and was there the space of four months.
3 ọkọ rẹ̀ lọ sí ibẹ̀ láti rọ̀ ọ́ pé kí ó padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ òun. Nígbà tí ó ń lọ ó mú ìránṣẹ́ àti kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ méjì lọ́wọ́, obìnrin náà mú un wọ inú ilé baba rẹ̀ lọ, nígbà tí baba obìnrin náà rí i ó fi tayọ̀tayọ̀ gbà á.
And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly unto her, to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father’s house; and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
4 Àna rẹ̀, baba ọmọbìnrin náà rọ̀ ọ́, ó sì borí rẹ̀ láti dá a dúró fún ìgbà díẹ̀, òun sì dúró fún ọjọ́ mẹ́ta, ó ń jẹ, ó ń mu, ó sì ń sùn níbẹ̀.
And his father-in-law, the damsel’s father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they did eat and drink, and lodged there.
5 Ní ọjọ́ kẹrin, wọ́n dìde ní òwúrọ̀ kùtùkùtù òun sì múra láti padà lọ, ṣùgbọ́n baba ọmọbìnrin náà wí fún àna rẹ̀ pé, “Fi ohun jíjẹ díẹ̀ gbé inú ró nígbà náà kí ìwọ máa lọ.”
And it came to pass on the fourth day, that they arose early in the morning, and he rose up to depart: and the damsel’s father said unto his son-in-law, Strengthen thy heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward ye shall go your way.
6 Àwọn méjèèjì sì jùmọ̀ jókòó láti jọ jẹun àti láti jọ mu. Lẹ́yìn èyí ni baba ọmọbìnrin wí pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ dúró ní alẹ́ yìí kí o sì gbádùn ara rẹ.”
So they sat down, and did eat and drink, both of them together: and the damsel’s father said unto the man, Be pleased, I pray thee, to tarry all night, and let thy heart be merry.
7 Nígbà tí ọkùnrin náà dìde láti máa lọ, baba ìyàwó rẹ̀ rọ̀ ọ́, torí náà ó sùn níbẹ̀ ní alẹ́ ọjọ́ náà.
And the man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law urged him, and he lodged there again.
8 Ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ karùn-ún nígbà tí ó dìde láti lọ, baba ọmọbìnrin wí pé, “Fi oúnjẹ gbé ara ró. Dúró de ọ̀sán!” Àwọn méjèèjì sì jùmọ̀ jọ jẹun.
And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the damsel’s father said, Strengthen thy heart, I pray thee, and tarry ye until the day declineth; and they did eat, both of them.
9 Nígbà tí ọkùnrin náà, pẹ̀lú àlè àti ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀, dìde láti máa lọ, àna rẹ̀, baba ọmọbìnrin náà ní, “Wò ó ilẹ̀ ti ń ṣú lọ, dúró níbí, ọjọ́ ti lọ. Dúró kí o sì gbádùn ara rẹ. Ìwọ lè jí ní àárọ̀ kùtùkùtù ọ̀la kí ìwọ sì máa lọ ilé.”
And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father-in-law, the damsel’s father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thy heart may be merry; and to-morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.
10 Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí pé òun kò fẹ́ dúró mọ́ níbẹ̀ ní òru náà ọkùnrin náà kúrò ó sì gba ọ̀nà Jebusi: ọ̀nà Jerusalẹmu pẹ̀lú àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ rẹ̀ méjèèjì tí ó fi dì í ní gàárì àti àlè rẹ̀.
But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus (the same is Jerusalem): and there were with him a couple of asses saddled; his concubine also was with him.
11 Nígbà tí wọ́n súnmọ́ Jebusi tí ilẹ̀ ti fẹ́ ṣú tan, ìránṣẹ́ náà sọ fún ọ̀gá rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ wá, ẹ jẹ́ kí a dúró ní ìlú yìí tí í ṣe ti àwọn ará Jebusi kí a sì sùn níbẹ̀.”
When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
12 Ọ̀gá rẹ̀ dá a lóhùn pé, “Rárá o, àwa kì yóò wọ ìlú àwọn àjèjì, àwọn tí olùgbé ibẹ̀ kì í ṣe ọmọ Israẹli, a yóò dé Gibeah.”
And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside into the city of a foreigner, that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.
13 Ó fi kún un pé, ẹ wá ẹ jẹ́ kí a gbìyànjú kí a dé Gibeah tàbí Rama kí a sùn ní ọ̀kan nínú wọn.
And he said unto his servant, Come and let us draw near to one of these places; and we will lodge in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
14 Wọ́n sì tẹ̀síwájú nínú ìrìnàjò wọn, oòrùn wọ̀ bí wọ́n ti súnmọ́ Gibeah tí ṣe ti àwọn Benjamini.
So they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them near to Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
15 Wọ́n yípadà wọ́n lọ sí inú ìlú Gibeah láti wọ̀ síbẹ̀ ní òru náà, wọ́n lọ wọ́n sì jókòó níbi gbọ̀ngàn ìlú náà, ṣùgbọ́n kò sí ẹni tí ó gbà wọ́n sínú ilé rẹ̀ láti wọ̀ sí.
And they turned aside thither, to go in to lodge in Gibeah: and he went in, and sat him down in the street of the city; for there was no man that took them into his house to lodge.
16 Ní alẹ́ ọjọ́ náà ọkùnrin arúgbó kan láti àwọn òkè Efraimu, ṣùgbọ́n tí ń gbé ní Gibeah (ibẹ̀ ni àwọn ẹ̀yà Benjamini ń gbé) ń ti ibi iṣẹ́ rẹ̀ bọ̀ láti inú oko.
And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even: now the man was of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he sojourned in Gibeah; but the men of the place were Benjamites.
17 Nígbà tí ó wòkè ó rí arìnrìn-àjò náà ní gbọ̀ngàn ìlú náà, ọkùnrin arúgbó yìí bi í léèrè pé, “Níbo ni ò ń lọ? Níbo ni o ti ń bọ̀?”
And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city; and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
18 Ọmọ Lefi náà dá a lóhùn pé, “Bẹtilẹhẹmu ti Juda ni àwa ti ń bọ̀, àwa sì ń lọ sí agbègbè tí ó sá pamọ́ ní àwọn òkè Efraimu níbi ti mo ń gbé. Mo ti lọ sí Bẹtilẹhẹmu ti Juda, èmi sì ń lọ sí ilé Olúwa nísinsin yìí. Kò sí ẹni tí ó gbà mí sí ilé rẹ̀.
And he said unto him, We are passing from Beth-lehem-judah unto the farther side of the hill-country of Ephraim; from thence am I, and I went to Beth-lehem-judah: and I am [now] going to the house of Jehovah; and there is no man that taketh me into his house.
19 Àwa ní koríko àti oúnjẹ tó tó fún àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ wa àti oúnjẹ àti wáìnì fún àwa ìránṣẹ́ rẹ—èmi, ìránṣẹ́bìnrin rẹ àti ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó wà pẹ̀lú wa. A ò ṣe aláìní ohun kankan.”
Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man that is with thy servants: there is no want of anything.
20 Ọkùnrin arúgbó náà sì wí pé. “Àlàáfíà fún ọ, bí ó ti wù kí ó rí, èmi yóò pèsè gbogbo ohun tí o nílò, kìkì pé kí ìwọ má ṣe sun ní ìgboro.”
And the old man said, Peace be unto thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.
21 Òun sì mú wa sí ilé rẹ̀, ó ń bọ́ àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ rẹ̀. Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n ti wẹ ẹsẹ̀ wọn, àwọn àlejò náà jẹ, wọ́n mu.
So he brought him into his house, and gave the asses fodder; and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.
22 Ǹjẹ́ bí wọ́n ti ń ṣe àríyá, kíyèsi i, àwọn ọkùnrin ìlú náà, àwọn ọmọ Beliali kan, yí ilé náà ká, wọ́n sì ń lu ìlẹ̀kùn; wọ́n sì sọ fún baálé ilé náà ọkùnrin arúgbó náà pé, “Mú ọkùnrin tí ó wọ̀ sínú ilé rẹ wá, kí àwa lè mọ̀ ọ́n.”
As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain base fellows, beset the house round about, beating at the door; and they spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thy house, that we may know him.
23 Ọkùnrin, baálé ilé náà sì jáde tọ̀ wọ́n lọ, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́ ẹ̀yin arákùnrin mi, èmi bẹ̀ yín, ẹ má ṣe hùwà búburú; nítorí tí ọkùnrin yìí ti wọ ilé mi, ẹ má ṣe hùwà òmùgọ̀ yìí.
And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into my house, do not this folly.
24 Kíyèsi i, ọmọbìnrin mi ni èyí, wúńdíá, àti àlè rẹ̀; àwọn ni èmi ó mú jáde wá nísinsin yìí, kí ẹ̀yin tẹ̀ wọ́n lógo, kí ẹ̀yin ṣe sí wọn bí ó ti tọ́ lójú yín: ṣùgbọ́n ọkùnrin yìí ni kí ẹ̀yin má ṣe hùwà òmùgọ̀ yìí sí.”
Behold, here is my daughter a virgin, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not any such folly.
25 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọkùnrin náà kò fetí sí tirẹ̀. Nítorí náà ọkùnrin náà mú àlè rẹ̀ ó sì tari rẹ̀ jáde sí wọn, wọ́n sì bá a fi ipá lòpọ̀, wọ́n sì fi gbogbo òru náà bá a lòpọ̀, nígbà tí ó di àfẹ̀mọ́júmọ́ wọ́n jọ̀wọ́ rẹ̀ lọ́.
But the men would not hearken to him: so the man laid hold on his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
26 Nígbà tí ojúmọ́ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí là obìnrin náà padà lọ sí ilé tí ọ̀gá rẹ̀ wà, ó ṣubú lulẹ̀ lọ́nà, ó sì wà níbẹ̀ títí ó fi di òwúrọ̀.
Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her lord was, till it was light.
27 Nígbà tí ọ̀gá rẹ̀ jí tí ó sì dìde ní òwúrọ̀ tí ó sì ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn ilé náà, tí ó sì bọ́ sí òde láti tẹ̀síwájú nínú ìrìnàjò rẹ̀, kíyèsi i àlè rẹ̀ wà ní ṣíṣubú ní iwájú ilé, tí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ sì di òpó ẹnu-ọ̀nà ibẹ̀ mú,
And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way; and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands upon the threshold.
28 òun sì wí fún obìnrin náà pé, “Dìde jẹ́ kí a máa bá ọ̀nà wa lọ.” Ṣùgbọ́n òun kò dá a lóhùn. Nígbà náà ni ọkùnrin náà gbé e lé orí kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ rẹ̀, ó sì kọjá lọ sí ilé e rẹ̀.
And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going; but none answered: then he took her up upon the ass; and the man rose up, and gat him unto his place.
29 Nígbà tí ó dé ilé, ó mú ọ̀bẹ ó sì gé àlè rẹ̀ ní oríkeríke sí ọ̀nà méjìlá, ó sì fi wọ́n ránṣẹ́ sí gbogbo agbègbè Israẹli.
And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the borders of Israel.
30 Gbogbo ẹni tí ó rí i sì wí pé, “A kò ti rí i, bẹ́ẹ̀ a kò tí ì ṣe irú nǹkan yìí rí, kì í ṣe láti ọjọ́ tí Israẹli ti jáde tí Ejibiti wá títí di òní olónìí. Ẹ rò ó wò, ẹ gbìmọ̀ràn, kí ẹ sọ fún wa ohun tí a yóò ṣe!”
And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider it, take counsel, and speak.
