< Judges 14 >
1 Nígbà kan Samsoni gòkè lọ sí Timna níbẹ̀ ni ó ti rí ọmọbìnrin Filistini kan.
And Samson went down to Timnathah, and saw a woman in Timnathah of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 Nígbà tí ó darí dé, ó sọ fún àwọn òbí rẹ̀ pé, “Mo rí obìnrin Filistini kan ní Timna: báyìí ẹ fẹ́ ẹ fún mi bí aya mi.”
And he went up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnathah of the daughters of the Philistines; and now take her to me for wife.
3 Baba àti ìyá rẹ̀ dáhùn pé, “Ṣé kò sí obìnrin tí ó dára tí ó sì tẹ́ ọ lọ́rùn ní àárín àwọn ìbátan rẹ, tàbí láàrín gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn wa? Ṣé ó di dandan fún ọ láti lọ sí àárín àwọn Filistini aláìkọlà kí o tó fẹ́ ìyàwó?” Ṣùgbọ́n Samsoni wí fún baba rẹ̀ pé, “Fẹ́ ẹ fún mi torí pé inú mi yọ́ sí i púpọ̀púpọ̀.”
Then said unto him his father and his mother, Is there not among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, a woman, that thou art going to take a wife from the Philistines, the uncircumcised? And Samson said unto his father, This one take for me; for she pleaseth me well.
4 (Àwọn òbí rẹ̀ kò mọ̀ pé ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa ni nǹkan yìí ti wá, ẹni tí ń wá ọ̀nà àti bá Filistini jà; nítorí àwọn ni ń ṣe àkóso Israẹli ní àkókò náà.)
But his father and his mother knew not that it was from the Lord, that he sought but an occasion against the Philistines; and at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
5 Samsoni sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Timna òun àti baba àti ìyá rẹ̀. Bí wọ́n ṣe ń súnmọ́ àwọn ọgbà àjàrà tí ó wà ní Timna, láìròtẹ́lẹ̀, ọ̀dọ́ kìnnìún kan jáde síta tí ń ké ramúramù bọ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
And Samson thus went down, with his father and his mother, to Timnathah; and when they were come as far as the vineyards of Timnathah, behold, a young lion came roaring toward him.
6 Ẹ̀mí Olúwa sì bà lé e pẹ̀lú agbára tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ó fi fa kìnnìún náà ya pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ rẹ̀ lásán bí ẹní ya ọmọ ewúrẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n òun kò sọ ohun tí ó ṣe fún baba tàbí ìyá rẹ̀.
And the Spirit of the Lord came suddenly over him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand; but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
7 Ó sì lọ bá obìnrin náà sọ̀rọ̀, inú Samsoni sì yọ́ sí i.
And he went down, and spoke unto the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
8 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà díẹ̀, nígbà tí ó padà lọ láti gbé e níyàwó, ó yà lọ láti wo òkú kìnnìún náà. Inú rẹ̀ ni ó ti bá ọ̀pọ̀ ìṣù oyin àti oyin,
And when he returned after a time to take her, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees in the carcass of the lion and honey likewise.
9 ó fi ọwọ́ ha jáde, ó sì ń jẹ ẹ́ bí ó ti ń lọ. Nígbà tí ó dé ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn òbí rẹ̀, ó fún wọn ní díẹ̀, àwọn náà sì jẹ, ṣùgbọ́n kò sọ fún wọn pé ara òkú kìnnìún ni òun ti rí oyin náà.
And he took it out in his hands, and went on, eating as he was going, and came to his father and mother, and he gave unto them, and they did eat; but he told them not that out of the carcass of the lion he had taken the honey.
10 Baba rẹ̀ sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ láti kí obìnrin náà. Samsoni sì ṣe àsè gẹ́gẹ́ bí àṣà ọkọ ìyàwó ní àkókò náà.
And his father went down unto the woman; and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
11 Nígbà tí ó fi ara hàn, tí àwọn ènìyàn náà rí i wọ́n fún un ní ọgbọ̀n àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ rẹ̀ láti wá bá a kẹ́gbẹ́.
And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions, and they remained with him.
12 Samsoni sọ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí n pa àlọ́ kan fún un yín, bí ẹ̀yin bá lè fún mi ní ìtumọ̀ rẹ̀ láàrín ọjọ́ méje àsè yìí, tàbí ṣe àwárí àlọ́ náà èmi yóò fún un yín ní ọgbọ̀n aṣọ tí a fi òwú ọ̀gbọ̀ hun, àti ọgbọ̀n ìpààrọ̀ aṣọ ìyàwó.
And Samson said unto them, I will now propound unto you a riddle; if ye can in anywise tell it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then will I give you thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments;
13 Ṣùgbọ́n tí ẹ̀yin kò bá le sọ ìtumọ̀ rẹ̀ fún mi, ẹ̀yin yóò fún mi ní ọgbọ̀n aṣọ tí a fi òwú ọ̀gbọ̀ hun àti ọgbọ̀n ìpààrọ̀ aṣọ ìgbéyàwó.” Wọ́n dáhùn pé, “Sọ àlọ́ rẹ fún wa jẹ́ kí a gbọ́.”
But if ye will not be able to tell it to me, then shall ye give me thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments. And they said unto him, Propound thy riddle, that we may hear it.
14 Ó dáhùn pé, “Láti inú ọ̀jẹun ni ohun jíjẹ ti jáde wá; láti inú alágbára ni ohun dídùn ti jáde wá.” Ṣùgbọ́n fún odidi ọjọ́ mẹ́ta ni wọn kò fi rí ìtumọ̀ sí àlọ́ náà.
And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not solve the riddle in three days.
15 Ní ọjọ́ kẹrin, wọ́n wí fún ìyàwó Samsoni, pé, “Tan ọkọ rẹ kí ó lè ṣe àlàyé àlọ́ náà fún wa, bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́ àwa yóò sun ìwọ àti ìdílé baba rẹ̀ ní iná. Tàbí ṣe o pè wá sí ibi àsè yìí láti sọ wá di òtòṣì tàbí kó wa lẹ́rú ni?”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Persuade thy husband, that he may solve unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye invited us to impoverish us? is it not so?
16 Nígbà náà ni ìyàwó Samsoni ṣubú lé e láyà, ó sì sọkún ní iwájú rẹ̀ pé, “O kórìíra mi! O kò sì ní ìfẹ́ mi nítòótọ́, o pàlọ́ fún àwọn ènìyàn mi, ìwọ kò sì sọ ìtumọ̀ rẹ̀ fún mi.” “Èmi kò tí ì ṣe àlàyé rẹ̀ fún baba àti ìyá mi, báwo ni èmi ó ṣe sọ ìtumọ̀ rẹ̀ fún ọ.”
And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou doest but hate me, and lovest me not: that riddle hast thou propounded unto the children of my people, and me hast thou not told [the solution]. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it to my father and to my mother, and thee shall I tell it?
17 Fún gbogbo ọjọ́ méje tí wọ́n fi ṣe àsè náà ni ó fi sọkún, nítorí náà ní ọjọ́ keje ó sọ ìtumọ̀ àlọ́ fún un nítorí pé ó yọ ọ́ lẹ́nu ní ojoojúmọ́. Òun náà sì sọ ìtumọ̀ àlọ́ náà fún àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀.
And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted; and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she had worried him: and she told [the solution of] the riddle to the children of her people.
18 Kí ó tó di àṣálẹ́ ọjọ́ keje àwọn ọkùnrin ìlú náà sọ fún un pé, “Kí ni ó dùn ju oyin lọ? Kí ni ó sì lágbára ju kìnnìún lọ?” Samsoni dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Bí kì í bá ṣe pé ẹ fi ọ̀dọ́ abo màlúù mi kọ ilẹ̀, ẹ̀yin kò bá tí mọ ìtumọ̀ sí àlọ́ mi.”
Then said unto him the men of the city on the seventh day before the sun was yet gone down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not ploughed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
19 Lẹ́yìn èyí, ẹ̀mí Olúwa bà lé e pẹ̀lú agbára. Ó lọ sí Aṣkeloni, ó pa ọgbọ̀n nínú àwọn ọkùnrin wọn, ó gba àwọn ohun ìní wọn, ó sì fi àwọn aṣọ wọn fún àwọn tí ó sọ ìtumọ̀ àlọ́ náà. Ó sì padà sí ilé baba rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ìbínú ríru.
And the Spirit of the Lord came suddenly over him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew of them thirty men, and he took their apparel, and gave the changes of garments unto the expounders of the riddle; but his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.
20 Wọ́n sì fi ìyàwó Samsoni fún ẹlẹgbẹ́ rẹ̀, tí ó jẹ́ ọ̀rẹ́ tímọ́tímọ́ rẹ̀ nígbà ìgbéyàwó rẹ̀.
And Samson's wife was given to his companion who had been given him as his associate.
