< Judges 10 >
1 Lẹ́yìn ikú Abimeleki, ọkùnrin kan láti ẹ̀yà Isakari tí orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Tola ọmọ Pua, ọmọ Dodo, dìde láti gba Israẹli sílẹ̀. Ní Ṣamiri tí ó wà ní òkè Efraimu ni ó gbé.
After Abimelech, a leader rose up in Israel, Tola, the son of Puah, the paternal uncle of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, who lived in Shamir on mount Ephraim.
2 Ó ṣe àkóso Israẹli ní ọdún mẹ́tàlélógún. Nígbà tí ó kú wọ́n sìn ín sí Ṣamiri.
And he judged Israel for twenty-three years, and he died and was buried at Shamir.
3 Jairi ti ẹ̀yà Gileadi ni ó dìde lẹ́yìn rẹ̀, ó ṣàkóso Israẹli ní ọdún méjìlélógún.
After him succeeded Jair, a Gileadite, who judged Israel for twenty-two years,
4 Àwọn ọgbọ̀n ọmọ tí ó n gun ọgbọ̀n kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́. Wọ́n ṣe àkóso ọgbọ̀n ìlú ní Gileadi, tí a pe orúkọ wọn ní Hafoti-Jairi títí di òní.
having thirty sons sitting upon thirty young donkeys, and who were leaders of thirty cities, which from his name were called Havvoth Jair, that is, the towns of Jair, even to the present day, in the land of Gilead.
5 Nígbà tí Jairi kú wọ́n sin ín sí Kamoni.
And Jair died, and he was buried in the place which is called Kamon.
6 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì túnṣe ohun tí ó burú lójú Olúwa. Wọ́n sin Baali àti Aṣtoreti àti àwọn òrìṣà Aramu, òrìṣà Sidoni, òrìṣà Moabu, òrìṣà àwọn ará Ammoni àti òrìṣà àwọn ará Filistini. Nítorí àwọn ará Israẹli kọ Olúwa sílẹ̀ tí wọn kò sì sìn ín mọ́,
But the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, joining new sins to old, and they served idols, the Baals and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria and Sidon, and of Moab and the sons of Ammon, and the Philistines. And they abandoned the Lord, and they did not worship him.
7 ó bínú sí wọn, ó fi wọ́n sílẹ̀ fún àwọn ará Filistini àti Ammoni láti jẹ ẹ́ ní ìyà.
And the Lord, becoming angry against them, delivered them into the hands of the Philistines and the sons of Ammon.
8 Ní ọdún náà, wọ́n tú wọn ká wọ́n sì pọ́n wọn lójú. Fún ọdún méjìdínlógún ni wọ́n fi ni gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí ó wà ní ìlà-oòrùn odò Jordani ní ilẹ̀ àwọn ará Amori lára (èyí nì ní Gileadi).
And they were afflicted and vehemently oppressed for eighteen years, all who were living beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorite, which is in Gilead,
9 Àwọn ará Ammoni sì la odò Jordani kọjá láti bá Juda, Benjamini àti àwọn ará ilé Efraimu jagun: Israẹli sì dojúkọ ìpọ́njú tó lágbára.
to such a great extent that the sons of Ammon, crossing over the Jordan, laid waste to Judah and Benjamin and Ephraim. And Israel was exceedingly afflicted.
10 Nígbà tí èyí ti ṣẹlẹ̀ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ké pe Olúwa wí pé, “Àwa ti ṣẹ̀ sí ọ, nítorí pé àwa ti kọ Ọlọ́run wa sílẹ̀, àwa sì ń sin Baali.”
And crying out to the Lord, they said: “We have sinned against you. For we have forsaken the Lord our God, and we have served the Baals.”
11 Olúwa sì dáhùn pé, “Ǹjẹ́ nígbà tí àwọn ará Ejibiti, Amori, Ammoni, Filistini,
And the Lord said to them: “Did not the Egyptians, and the Amorites, and the sons of Ammon, and the Philistines,
12 àwọn ará Sidoni, Amaleki pẹ̀lú Maoni ni yín lára, tí ẹ sì ké pè mí fún ìrànlọ́wọ́, ǹjẹ́ èmi kò gbà yín sílẹ̀ kúrò ní ọwọ́ wọn?
and also the Sidonians, and Amalek, and Canaan, oppress you, and so you cried out to me, and I rescued you from their hand?
13 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ ẹ̀yin kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀ láti sin àwọn ọlọ́run mìíràn, torí ìdí èyí, èmi kì yóò sì tún gbà yín mọ́.
And yet you have forsaken me, and you have worshipped foreign gods. For this reason, I will not continue to free you any more.
14 Ẹ lọ kí ẹ sì ké pe àwọn òrìṣà tí ẹ̀yin ti yàn fún ara yín. Jẹ́ kí wọn gbà yín sílẹ̀ ní àsìkò ìpọ́njú yín!”
Go, and call upon the gods whom you have chosen. Let them free you in the time of anguish.”
15 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì dá Olúwa lóhùn pé, “Àwa ti ṣẹ̀, ṣe ohun tí ó bá fẹ́ pẹ̀lú wa, ṣùgbọ́n, jọ̀wọ́ gbà wá sílẹ̀ náání àsìkò yìí.”
And the sons of Israel said to the Lord: “We have sinned. You may repay us in whatever way pleases you. Yet free us now.”
16 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n kó gbogbo ọlọ́run àjèjì tí ó wà láàrín wọn kúrò wọ́n sì sin Olúwa nìkan, ọkàn rẹ̀ kò sì le gbàgbé ìrora Israẹli mọ́.
And saying these things, they cast out all the idols of the foreign gods from their regions, and they served the Lord God. And he was touched by their miseries.
17 Nígbà tí àwọn ará Ammoni kógun jọ ní Gileadi láti bá Israẹli jà, àwọn ọmọ Israẹli gbárajọpọ̀, wọ́n sì tẹ̀dó ogun ní Mispa.
And then the sons of Ammon, shouting out together, pitched their tents in Gilead. And the sons of Israel gathered together against them, and they made camp at Mizpah.
18 Àwọn ìjòyè: aṣíwájú àwọn ará Gileadi wí fún ará wọn pé, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí yóò kọ́ ṣígun si àwọn ará Ammoni ni yóò jẹ́ orí fún gbogbo àwọn tí ń gbé ní Gileadi.”
And the leaders of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever among us will be the first to begin to contend against the sons of Ammon, he shall be the leader of the people of Gilead.”
