< Joshua 6 >

1 Wàyí o, a ti há Jeriko mọ́lé gágá nítorí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, ẹnikẹ́ni kò jáde, ẹnikẹ́ni kò sì wọlé.
Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.
2 Nígbà náà ni Olúwa wí fún Joṣua pé, “Wò ó, mo ti fi Jeriko lé ọ lọ́wọ́ pẹ̀lú ọba rẹ̀ àti àwọn jagunjagun rẹ̀.
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.
3 Ẹ wọ́de ogun yí ìlú náà ká lẹ́ẹ̀kan pẹ̀lú gbogbo àwọn jagunjagun. Ẹ ṣe èyí fún ọjọ́ mẹ́fà.
All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.
4 Jẹ́ kí àwọn àlùfáà méje gbé fèrè ìwo àgbò ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí. Ní ọjọ́ keje, ẹ wọ́de ogun yí ìlú náà ká ní ìgbà méje, pẹ̀lú àwọn àlùfáà tí ń fọn fèrè.
Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 Nígbà tí ẹ bá gbọ́ ohùn fèrè náà, kí àwọn ènìyàn hó yèè ní igbe ńlá, nígbà náà ni odi ìlú náà yóò sì wó lulẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn yóò sì lọ sí òkè, olúkúlùkù yóò sì wọ inú rẹ̀ lọ tààrà.”
It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”
6 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua ọmọ Nuni pe àwọn àlùfáà ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ gbé àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa náà kí àwọn àlùfáà méje tí ó ru fèrè ìwo wà ní iwájú u rẹ̀.”
Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh’s ark.”
7 Ó sì pàṣẹ fún àwọn ènìyàn náà pé, “Ẹ lọ, kí ẹ sì yí ìlú náà ká pẹ̀lú àwọn olùṣọ́ tí ó hámọ́ra kọjá ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa.”
They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”
8 Nígbà tí Joṣua ti bá àwọn ènìyàn sọ̀rọ̀ tán, àwọn àlùfáà méje tí wọ́n gbé fèrè méje ní iwájú Olúwa kọjá sí iwájú, wọ́n sì fọn fèrè wọn, àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa sì tẹ̀lé wọn.
It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of Yahweh’s covenant followed them.
9 Àwọn olùṣọ tí ó hámọ́ra sì lọ níwájú àwọn àlùfáà tí ń fọn fèrè, olùṣọ́ ẹ̀yìn sì tẹ̀lé àpótí ẹ̀rí náà. Ní gbogbo àsìkò yìí fèrè sì ń dún.
The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.
10 Ṣùgbọ́n Joṣua tí pàṣẹ fún àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ kígbe ogun, ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ gbé ohùn yín sókè, ẹ má ṣe sọ ọ̀rọ̀ kan títí ọjọ́ tí èmi yóò sọ fún un yín pé kí ẹ hó. Nígbà náà ni ẹ̀yin yóò sì hó!”
Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”
11 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó mú kí àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa yí ìlú náà ká, ó sì yí i ká lẹ́ẹ̀kan. Nígbà náà ni àwọn ènìyàn náà padà sí ibùdó, wọ́n sì gbé ibẹ̀ fún alẹ́ náà.
So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.
12 Joṣua sì dìde ní kùtùkùtù òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, àwọn àlùfáà sì gbé àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa.
Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up Yahweh’s ark.
13 Àwọn àlùfáà méje tí ó gbé ìpè ìwo àgbò méje ń lọ níwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa, wọ́n sì ń fọ́n àwọn ìpè: àwọn tí ó hámọ́ra ogun ń lọ níwájú u wọn; àwọn ọmọ tó wà lẹ́yìn sì ń tọ àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa lẹ́yìn, àwọn àlùfáà sì ń fọn ìpè bí wọ́n ti ń lọ.
The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.
14 Ní ọjọ́ kejì, wọ́n yí ìlú náà ká lẹ́ẹ̀kan wọ́n sì padà sí ibùdó. Wọ́n sì ṣe èyí fún ọjọ́ mẹ́fà.
The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
15 Ní ọjọ́ keje, wọ́n dìde ní kùtùkùtù òwúrọ̀ ní àfẹ̀mọ́júmọ́, wọ́n sì wọ́de ogun yí ìlú náà ká ní ìgbà méje, gẹ́gẹ́ bí i ti ìṣáájú, ní ọjọ́ keje nìkan ṣoṣo ni wọ́n wọ́de ogun yí ìlú náà ká nígbà méje.
On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.
16 Ní ìgbà keje, nígbà tí àwọn àlùfáà fọn fèrè, Joṣua pàṣẹ fún àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Ẹ hó! Nítorí pé Olúwa ti fún un yín ní ìlú náà.
At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!
17 Ìlú náà àti gbogbo ohun tí ó wà níbẹ̀ ni yóò jẹ́ ìyàsọ́tọ̀ fún Olúwa. Rahabu tí ó jẹ́ panṣágà nìkan àti gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà pẹ̀lú u rẹ̀ ni a ó dá sí; nítorí tí ó pa àwọn ayọ́lẹ̀wò tí á rán mọ́.
The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 Ẹ pa ara yín mọ́ kúrò nínú ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀ fún ìparun, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó má ba à ṣojú kòkòrò nípa mímú nínú àwọn ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀. Bí kò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ ẹ ó sọ ibùdó Israẹli di ìparun. Kí ẹ sì mú wàhálà wá sórí i rẹ̀.
But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.
19 Gbogbo fàdákà àti wúrà àti ohun èlò idẹ àti irin jẹ́ mímọ́ fún Olúwa, wọ́n yóò wá sínú ìṣúra Olúwa.”
But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”
20 Nígbà tí àwọn àlùfáà fọn ìpè, àwọn ènìyàn náà sì hó. Ó sì ṣe, bí àwọn ènìyàn ti gbọ́ ìró ìpè, tí àwọn ènìyàn sì hó ìhó ńlá, odi ìlú náà wó lulẹ̀ bẹẹrẹ; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni olúkúlùkù ya wọ inú ìlú náà lọ tààrà, wọ́n sì kó ìlú náà.
So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.
21 Wọ́n ya ìlú náà sọ́tọ̀ fún Olúwa àti fún ìparun, wọ́n sì fi idà run gbogbo ohun alààyè ní ìlú náà—ọkùnrin àti obìnrin, ọ́mọdé, àti àgbà, màlúù, àgùntàn àti kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́.
They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
22 Joṣua sì sọ fún àwọn ọkùnrin méjì tí wọ́n ti wá ṣe ayọ́lẹ̀wò ilẹ̀ náà pé, “Ẹ lọ sí ilé panṣágà nì, kí ẹ sì mu jáde àti gbogbo ohun tí í ṣe tirẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ tí búra fún un.”
Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”
23 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó lọ ṣe ayọ́lẹ̀wò wọlé lọ, wọ́n sì mú Rahabu jáde, baba rẹ̀, ìyá rẹ̀, àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀ àti ohun gbogbo tí ó ní. Wọ́n sì mú gbogbo ìdílé rẹ̀ jáde, wọ́n sì fi wọ́n sí ibìkan ní ìta ibùdó àwọn ará Israẹli.
The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
24 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n sun gbogbo ìlú náà àti gbogbo ohun tí ó wà nínú u rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n fi fàdákà, wúrà ohun èlò idẹ àti irin sínú ìṣúra ilé Olúwa.
They burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.
25 Ṣùgbọ́n Joṣua dá Rahabu panṣágà pẹ̀lú gbogbo ìdílé e rẹ̀ àti gbogbo ẹni tí í ṣe tirẹ̀ sí nítorí pé, ó pa àwọn ọkùnrin tí Joṣua rán gẹ́gẹ́ bí ayọ́lẹ̀wò sí Jeriko mọ́. Ó sì ń gbé láàrín ará Israẹli títí di òní yìí.
But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 Ní àkókò náà Joṣua sì búra pé, “Ègún ni fún ẹni náà níwájú Olúwa tí yóò dìde, tí yóò sì tún ìlú Jeriko kọ́: “Pẹ̀lú ikú àkọ́bí ọmọ rẹ̀ ni yóò fi pilẹ̀ rẹ̀; ikú àbíkẹ́yìn rẹ̀ ní yóò fi gbé ìlẹ̀kùn bodè rẹ̀ ró.”
Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”
27 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa wà pẹ̀lú Joṣua; òkìkí rẹ̀ sì kàn ká gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà.
So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
