< Joshua 4 >

1 Nígbà tí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè náà kọjá nínú odò Jordani tan, Olúwa sọ fún Joṣua pé,
And it came to pass, when all the nation were clean passed over the Jordan, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 “Yan ọkùnrin méjìlá nínú àwọn ènìyàn, ẹnìkan nínú ẹ̀yà kọ̀ọ̀kan,
Take for you twelve men out of the people, a man out of every tribe,
3 kí o sì pàṣẹ fún wọn pé, ‘Ẹ gbé òkúta méjìlá láti àárín odò Jordani ní ibi tí àwọn àlùfáà dúró sí, kí ẹ sì rù wọn kọjá, kí ẹ sì gbé wọn sí ibi tí ẹ̀yin yóò sùn ní alẹ́ yìí.’”
and command ye them, saying, Take for you here out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua pe àwọn ọkùnrin méjìlá tí ó ti yàn nínú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, ẹnìkan nínú ẹ̀yà kọ̀ọ̀kan,
Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the sons of Israel, a man out of every tribe.
5 ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ kọjá lọ ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín sí àárín odò Jordani. Kí olúkúlùkù yín gbé òkúta kọ̀ọ̀kan lé èjìká a rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí iye ẹ̀yà àwọn ọmọ Israẹli,
And Joshua said to them, Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,
6 kí ó sì jẹ́ àmì láàrín yín. Ní ọjọ́ iwájú, nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ yín bá béèrè lọ́wọ́ yín pé, ‘Kí ni òkúta wọ̀nyí dúró fún?’
that this may be a sign among you, that, when your children ask in time to come, saying, What do ye mean by these stones?
7 Nígbà náà ni ẹ̀yin yóò dá wọn lóhùn pé, nítorí a gé omi odò Jordani kúrò ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa. Nígbà tí a rékọjá a Jordani, a gé omi Jordani kúrò. Àwọn òkúta wọ̀nyí yóò sì jẹ́ ìrántí fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láéláé.”
Then ye shall say to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.
8 Báyìí ni àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì ṣe bí Joṣua ti pàṣẹ fún wọn. Wọ́n gbé òkúta méjìlá láti àárín odò Jordani gẹ́gẹ́ bí iye ẹ̀yà àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, bí Olúwa ti sọ fún Joṣua; wọ́n sì rù wọ́n kọjá lọ sí ibùdó, ní ibi tí wọ́n ti gbé wọn kalẹ̀.
And the sons of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9 Joṣua sì to òkúta méjìlá náà sí àárín odò Jordani fún ìrántí ní ọ̀kánkán ibi tí àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ru àpótí ẹ̀rí dúró sí. Wọ́n sì wà níbẹ̀ di òní yìí.
And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood, and they are there to this day.
10 Àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ru àpótí náà dúró ní àárín Jordani títí gbogbo nǹkan tí Olúwa pàṣẹ fún Joṣua fi di ṣíṣe nípasẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mose ti pàṣẹ fún Joṣua. Àwọn ènìyàn náà sì yára kọjá,
For the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua. And the people hastened and passed over.
11 bí gbogbo wọn sì ti rékọjá tán, ni àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa àti àwọn àlùfáà wá sí òdìkejì. Bí àwọn ènìyàn sì ti ń wò wọ́n.
And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of Jehovah passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12 Àwọn ọkùnrin Reubeni, Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase náà sì rékọjá ní ìhámọ́ra ogun níwájú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mose ti pàṣẹ fún wọn.
And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the sons of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.
13 Àwọn bí ọ̀kẹ́ méjì tó ti múra fún ogun rékọjá lọ ní iwájú Olúwa sí pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ Jeriko láti jagun.
About forty thousand ready armed for war passed over before Jehovah to battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14 Ní ọjọ́ náà ni Olúwa gbé Joṣua ga ní ojú gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, wọ́n sì bẹ̀rù u rẹ̀ ní gbogbo ọjọ́ ayé e wọn, gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti bẹ̀rù Mose.
On that day Jehovah magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 Olúwa sì sọ fún Joṣua pé,
And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
16 “Pàṣẹ fún àwọn àlùfáà tí o ń ru àpótí ẹ̀rí, kí wọn kí ó jáde kúrò nínú odò Jordani.”
Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.
17 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua pàṣẹ fún àwọn àlùfáà pé, “Ẹ jáde kúrò nínú odò Jordani.”
Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of the Jordan.
18 Àwọn àlùfáà náà jáde láti inú odò pẹ̀lú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa ni orí wọn. Bí wọ́n ti fi ẹsẹ̀ ẹ wọn tẹ orí ilẹ̀ gbígbẹ ni omi Jordani náà padà sí ààyè e rẹ̀, o sì kún wọ bèbè bí i ti àtẹ̀yìnwá.
And it came to pass, when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came up out of the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up to the dry ground, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as formerly.
19 Ní ọjọ́ kẹwàá oṣù kìn-ín-ní àwọn ènìyàn náà lọ láti Jordani, wọ́n sì dúró ní Gilgali ní ìlà-oòrùn Jeriko.
And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho.
20 Joṣua sì to àwọn òkúta méjìlá tí wọ́n mú jáde ní Jordani jọ ní Gilgali.
And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21 Ó sì sọ fún àwọn ará Israẹli, “Ní ọjọ́ iwájú nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ yín bá béèrè ní ọwọ́ baba wọn pé, ‘Kín ni òkúta wọ̀nyí dúró fún?’
And he spoke to the sons of Israel, saying, When your sons shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean?
22 Nígbà náà ni ẹ ó jẹ́ kí àwọn ọmọ yín mọ̀ pé, ‘Israẹli rékọjá odò Jordani ní orí ilẹ̀ gbígbẹ.’
Then ye shall let your sons know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23 Nítorí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín mú Jordani gbẹ ní iwájú u yín títí ẹ̀yin fi kọjá. Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ti ṣe sí Jordani gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe sí Òkun Pupa, nígbà tí ó mú un gbẹ ní iwájú wa títí àwa fi kọjá.
For Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over,
24 Ó ṣe èyí kí gbogbo ayé lè mọ̀ pé ọwọ́ Olúwa ní agbára, àti kí ẹ̀yin kí ó lè máa bẹ̀rù Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ní ìgbà gbogbo.”
that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty, that ye may fear Jehovah your God forever.
