< Joshua 22 >

1 Joṣua sì pe àwọn ẹ̀yà Reubeni, ẹ̀yà Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase
At the same time Josue called the Rubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasses,
2 ó sì sọ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ̀yin ti ṣe gbogbo èyí tí Mose ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa pàṣẹ, ẹ sì ti ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí ohun gbogbo tí mo pàṣẹ.
And said to them: You have done all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you: you have also obeyed me in all things,
3 Ẹ kò fi àwọn arákùnrin yín sílẹ̀ láti ìgbà yí títí di òní, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ ti kíyèsára láti pa òfin Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín mọ́.
Neither have you left your brethren this long time, until this present day, keeping the commandment of the Lord your God.
4 Nísinsin yìí tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ti fún àwọn arákùnrin yín ní ìsinmi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣèlérí, ẹ padà sí ilẹ̀ yín níbi tí Mose ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa fi fún yin ní òdìkejì Jordani.
Therefore as the Lord your God hath given your brethren rest and peace, as he promised: return, and go to your dwellings, and to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan:
5 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ ṣọ́ra gidigidi láti pa àṣẹ àti òfin tí Mose ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa fi fún yin mọ́. Láti fẹ́ràn Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, láti rìn nínú gbogbo ọ̀nà rẹ̀, láti gbọ́rọ̀ sí àṣẹ rẹ̀, láti dìímú ṣinṣin àti láti sìn ín pẹ̀lú gbogbo ọkàn yín àti gbogbo àyà yín.”
Yet so that you observe attentively, and in work fulfill the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you: that you love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, and keep all his commandments, and cleave to him, and serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.
6 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua súre fún wọn, ó sì jẹ́ kí wọn máa lọ sí ilẹ̀ wọn.
And Josue blessed them, and sent them away, and they returned to their dwellings.
7 (Mose ti fi ilẹ̀ fún ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase ní Baṣani, Joṣua sì ti fún ìdajì ẹ̀yà yòókù ní ilẹ̀ ní ìwọ̀-oòrùn Jordani, pẹ̀lú àwọn arákùnrin wọn). Joṣua súre fún wọn ó sì jẹ́ kí wọn máa lọ sí ilẹ̀ wọn,
Now to half the tribe of Manasses, Moses had given a possession in Basan: and therefore to the half that remained, Josue gave a lot among the rest of their brethren beyond the Jordan to the west. And when he sent them away to their dwellings and had blessed them,
8 Ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ padà sí ilẹ̀ ẹ yín pẹ̀lú ọrọ̀ púpọ̀ yín, pẹ̀lú agbo ẹran ọ̀sìn, pẹ̀lú fàdákà, wúrà, idẹ àti irin, àti ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ aṣọ, kí ẹ sì pín ìkógun tí ẹ rí gbà láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ọ̀tá yín pẹ̀lú àwọn arákùnrin yín.”
He said to them: With much substance and riches, you return to your settlements, with silver and gold, brass and iron, and variety of raiment: divide the prey of your enemies with your brethren.
9 Báyìí ni àwọn ẹ̀yà Reubeni, ẹ̀yà Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase fi àwọn ará Israẹli sílẹ̀ ní Ṣilo ní Kenaani láti padà sí Gileadi, ilẹ̀ wọn, èyí tí wọ́n ti gbà gẹ́gẹ́ bí àṣẹ Olúwa láti ẹnu Mose wá.
So the children of Ruben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses returned, and parted from the children of Israel in Silo, which is in Chanaan, to go into Galaad the land of their possession, which they had obtained according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
10 Nígbà tí wọ́n wá dé Geliloti ní ẹ̀bá Jordani ní ilẹ̀ Kenaani, àwọn ẹ̀yà Reubeni, ẹ̀yà Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase mọ pẹpẹ ńlá tí ó tóbi kan ní ẹ̀bá Jordani.
And when they were come to the banks of the Jordan, in the land of Chanaan, they built an altar immensely great near the Jordan.
11 Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli gbọ́ pé àwọn ọmọ Reubeni, àti àwọn ọmọ Gadi àti ìlàjì ẹ̀yà Manase mọ pẹpẹ kan dojúkọ ilẹ̀ Kenaani ní Geliloti ní ẹ̀bá Jordani ní ìhà kejì àwọn ọmọ Israẹli,
And when the children of Israel had heard of it, and certain messengers had brought them an account that the children of Ruben, and of Cad, and the half tribe of Manasses had built an altar in the land of Chanaan, upon the banks of the Jordan, over against the children of Israel:
12 gbogbo àjọ Israẹli péjọ ní Ṣilo láti lọ bá wọn jagun.
They all assembled in Silo, to go up and fight against them.
13 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli rán Finehasi ọmọ Eleasari àlùfáà, sí ilẹ̀ Gileadi, sí Reubeni, sí Gadi àti sí ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase.
And in the mean time they sent to them into the land of Galaad, Phinees the son of Eleazar the priest,
14 Pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ wọ́n rán àwọn ọkùnrin olóyè mẹ́wàá, ẹnìkan fún ẹ̀yà Israẹli kọ̀ọ̀kan, olórí ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan tiwọn jẹ́ olórí ìdílé láàrín àwọn ọmọ Israẹli.
And ten princes with him, one of every tribe.
15 Nígbà tí wọ́n lọ sí Gileadi—sí Reubeni, Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase—wọ́n sì sọ fún wọn pé,
Who came to the children of Ruben, and of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses, into the land of Galaad, and said to them:
16 “Gbogbo àjọ ènìyàn Olúwa wí pe, ‘A fẹ́ mọ ìdí tí ẹ fi sẹ̀ sí Ọlọ́run Israẹli nípa yíyí padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ tí ẹ sì kọ́ pẹpẹ ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ ní ìlòdì sí Olúwa?
Thus saith all the people of the Lord: What meaneth this transgression? Why have you forsaken the Lord the God of Israel, building a sacrilegious altar, and revolting from the worship of him?
17 Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Peori kò ha tó fún wa bí? Títí di òní yìí àwa kò tí ì wẹ ara wa mọ́ kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ náà, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn ti jà láàrín ènìyàn Olúwa!
Is it a small thing to you that you sinned with Beelphegor, and the stain of that crime remaineth in us to this day? and many of the people perished.
18 Ṣé ẹ tún wá ń padà kúrò lẹ́yìn Olúwa ni báyìí? “‘Tí ẹ̀yin bá ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí Olúwa ní òní, ní ọ̀la ní òun o bínú sí gbogbo ìpéjọpọ̀ Israẹli.
And you have forsaken the Lord today, and tomorrow his wrath will rage against all Israel.
19 Bí ilẹ̀ ìní yín bá di àìmọ́, ẹ wá sí orí ilẹ̀ ìní Olúwa, ní ibi tí àgọ́ Olúwa dúró sí, kí ẹ sì pín ilẹ̀ náà pẹ̀lú wa. Ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ má ṣe ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí Olúwa tàbí sí wa nípa mímọ pẹpẹ fún ara yín, lẹ́yìn pẹpẹ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa.
But if you think the land of your possession to be unclean, pass over to the land wherein is the tabernacle of the Lord, and dwell among us: only depart not from the Lord, and from our society, by building an altar beside the altar of the Lord our God.
20 Nígbà tí Akani ọmọ Sera ṣe àìṣòótọ́ nípa ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀, ǹjẹ́ ìbínú kò wá sí orí gbogbo àjọ ènìyàn Israẹli nítorí rẹ̀ bí? Òun nìkan kọ́ ni ó kú fún ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ẹ rẹ̀.’”
Did not Achan the son of Zare transgress the commandment of the Lord, and his wrath lay upon all the people of Israel? And he was but one man, and would to God he alone had perished in his wickedness.
21 Nígbà náà ni Reubeni, Gadi àti ẹ̀yà Manase sọ nínú ìdáhùn wọn fún àwọn olórí Israẹli pé.
And the children of Ruben, and of Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses answered the princes of the embassage of Israel:
22 Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọlọ́run! Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọlọ́run, Òun mọ̀, jẹ́ kí Israẹli pẹ̀lú kí ó mọ̀! Bí èyí bá wà ní ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ tàbí àìgbọ́ràn sí Olúwa, ẹ má ṣe gbà wa ní òní yìí.
The Lord the most mighty God, the Lord the most mighty God, he knoweth, and Israel also shall understand: If with the design of transgression we have set up this altar, let him not save us, but punish us immediately:
23 Bí àwa bá ti mọ pẹpẹ wa láti yí padà kúrò ní ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa àti láti rú ẹbọ sísun àti ẹbọ oúnjẹ jíjẹ, tàbí ẹbọ àlàáfíà ní orí rẹ, kí Olúwa fún ara rẹ̀ gba ẹ̀san.
And if we did it with that mind, that we might lay upon it holocausts, and sacrifice, and victims of peace offerings, let him require and judge:
24 “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́! Àwa ṣe èyí ní ìbẹ̀rù pé ní ọjọ́ tí àwọn ọmọ yín yóò wí fún wa pé, ‘Kí ni ẹ̀yin ní ṣe pẹ̀lú Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli?
And not rather with this thought and design, that we should say: Tomorrow your children will say to our children: What have you to do with the Lord the God of Israel?
25 Olúwa ti fi Jordani ṣe ààlà láàrín àwa àti ẹ̀yin—àwọn ọmọ Reubeni àti àwọn ọmọ Gadi! Ẹ kò ni ní ìpín nínú Olúwa.’ Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọmọ yín lè mú kí àwọn ọmọ wa dẹ́kun láti máa bẹ̀rù Olúwa.
The Lord hath put the river Jordan for a border between us and you, O ye children of Ruben, and ye children of Gad: and therefore you have no part in the Lord. And by this occasion you children shall turn away our children from the fear of the Lord. We therefore thought, it best,
26 “Nítorí èyí ni àwa ṣe wí pé, ‘Ẹ jẹ́ kí àwa múra láti mọ pẹpẹ kan, ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe fún ẹbọ sísun, tàbí fún àwọn ìrúbọ.’
And said: Let us build us an altar, not for holocausts, nor to offer victims,
27 Ní ọ̀nà mìíràn, yóò jẹ́ ẹ̀rí kan láàrín àwa àti ẹ̀yin àti àwọn ìran tí ń bọ̀, pé àwa yóò jọ́sìn fún Olúwa ní ibi mímọ́ rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ẹbọ sísun wa, ẹbọ àti ọrẹ àlàáfíà. Nígbà náà ni ẹ̀yìn ọ̀la, àwọn ọmọ yín kò ní lè sọ fún tiwa pé, ‘Ẹ kò ní ìpín nínú ti Olúwa.’
But for a testimony between us and you, and our posterity and yours, that we may serve the Lord, and that we may have a right to offer both holocausts, and victims and sacrifices of peace offerings: and that your children tomorrow may not say to our children: You have no part in the Lord.
28 “Àwa sì wí pé, ‘Tí wọ́n bá tilẹ̀ sọ èyí fún wa, tàbí sí àwọn ọmọ wa, a ó dáhùn pé, “Ẹ wo àpẹẹrẹ pẹpẹ Olúwa, èyí tí àwọn baba wa mọ, kì í ṣe fún ẹbọ sísun àti ẹbọ ṣùgbọ́n fún ẹ̀rí láàrín àwa àti ẹ̀yin.”’
And if they will say so, they shall answer them: Behold the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for holocausts, nor for sacrifice, but for a testimony between us and you.
29 “Kí Ọlọ́run má jẹ́ kí àwa kí ó ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí Olúwa, kí àwa sì yípadà kúrò ní ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ ní òní nípa mímọ pẹpẹ ẹbọ sísun, ọrẹ oúnjẹ jíjẹ àti ẹbọ lẹ́yìn pẹpẹ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa tí ó dúró níwájú àgọ́ rẹ̀.”
God keep us from any such wickedness that we should revolt from the Lord, and leave off following his steps, by building an altar to offer holocausts, and sacrifices, and victims, beside the altar of the Lord our God, which is erected before his tabernacle.
30 Nígbà tí Finehasi àlùfáà àti àwọn olórí ìjọ ènìyàn, àwọn olórí ìdílé Israẹli gbọ́ ohun tí Reubeni, Gadi àti Manase ti sọ, ó dùn mọ́ wọn.
And when Phinees the priest, and the princes of the embassage, who were with him, had heard this, they were satisfied: and they admitted most willingly the words of the children of Ruben, and Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses.
31 Finehasi ọmọ Eleasari, àlùfáà wí fún Reubeni, Gadi àti Manase pé, “Ní òní ni àwa mọ̀ pé Olúwa wà pẹ̀lú wa, nítorí tí ẹ̀yin kò hùwà àìṣòótọ́ sí Olúwa ní orí ọ̀rọ̀ yí nísinsin yìí, ẹ̀yin ti yọ àwọn ará Israẹli kúrò ní ọwọ́ Olúwa”.
And Phinees the priest the son of Eleazar said to them: Now we know that the Lord is with us, because you are not guilty of this revolt, and you have delivered the children of Israel from the hand of the Lord.
32 Nígbà náà ni Finehasi ọmọ Eleasari àlùfáà àti àwọn olórí padà sí Kenaani láti ibi ìpàdé wọn pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹ̀yà Reubeni àti ẹ̀yà Gadi ní Gileadi, wọ́n sì mú ìròyìn tọ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli lọ.
And he returned with the princes from the children of Ruben and Gad, out of the land of Galaad, into the land of Chanaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
33 Inú wọn sì dùn láti gbọ́ ìròyìn náà, wọ́n sì yin Ọlọ́run. Wọn kò sì sọ̀rọ̀ mọ́ nípa lílọ bá wọn jagun láti run ilẹ̀ tí àwọn ẹ̀yà Reubeni àti ẹ̀yà Gadi ń gbé.
And the saying pleased all that heard it. And the children of Israel praised God, and they no longer said that they would go up against them, and fight, and destroy the land of their possession.
34 Ẹ̀yà Reubeni àti ẹ̀yà Gadi sì fún pẹpẹ náà ní orúkọ yìí, “Ẹ̀rí láàrín wa pé Olúwa ni Ọlọ́run.”
And the children of Ruben, and the children of Cad called the altar which they had built, Our testimony, that the Lord is God.
