< Joshua 2 >
1 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua ọmọ Nuni rán àwọn ayọ́lẹ̀wò méjì jáde ní àṣírí láti Ṣittimu. Ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ lọ wo ilẹ̀ náà, pàápàá Jeriko.” Wọ́n sì lọ, wọ́n wọ ilé panṣágà kan, tí à ń pè ní Rahabu wọ́n sì dúró síbẹ̀.
Then Ioshua the sonne of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spie secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and also Iericho: and they went, and came into an harlots house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
2 A sì sọ fún ọba Jeriko, “Wò ó! Àwọn ará Israẹli kan wá ibí ní alẹ́ yìí láti wá yọ́ ilẹ̀ yí wò.”
Then report was made to the King of Iericho, saying, Beholde, there came men hither to night, of the children of Israel, to spie out the countrey.
3 Ọba Jeriko sì ránṣẹ́ sí Rahabu pé, “Mú àwọn ọkùnrin nì tí ó tọ̀ ọ́ wá, tí ó wọ inú ilé rẹ jáde wá, nítorí wọ́n wá láti yọ́ gbogbo ilẹ̀ yìí wò ni.”
And the King of Iericho sent vnto Rahab, saying, Bring foorth the men that are come to thee, and which are entred into thine house: for they be come to search out all the land.
4 Ṣùgbọ́n obìnrin náà ti mú àwọn ọkùnrin méjì náà o sì fi wọ́n pamọ́. Ó sì wí pé, “Lóòtítọ́ ní àwọn ọkùnrin náà wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ mi, ṣùgbọ́n èmi kò mọ ibi tí wọ́n ti wá.
(But ye woman had taken the two men, and hid them) Therefore saide she thus, There came men vnto me, but I wist not whence they were.
5 Nígbà tí ilẹ̀ ṣú, nígbà tí ó tó àkókò láti ti ìlẹ̀kùn ẹnu ibodè, àwọn ọkùnrin náà sì jáde lọ. Èmi kò sì mọ ọ̀nà tí wọ́n gbà lọ. Ẹ lépa wọn kíákíá. Ẹ̀yin yóò bá wọn.”
And when they shut the gate in the darke, the men went out, whither the men went I wote not: follow ye after them quickly, for ye shall ouertake them.
6 (Ṣùgbọ́n ó ti mú wọn gòkè àjà ó sì fi wọ́n pamọ́ sí abẹ́ pòròpòrò ọkà tó tò jọ sí orí àjà.)
(But she had brought them vp to the roofe of the house, and hidde them with the stalkes of flaxe, which she had spread abroad vpon the roofe)
7 Àwọn ọkùnrin náà jáde lọ láti lépa àwọn ayọ́lẹ̀wò náà ní ọ̀nà tí ó lọ sí ìwọdò Jordani, bí àwọn tí ń lépa wọn sì ti jáde, wọ́n ti ìlẹ̀kùn ẹnu ibodè.
And certaine men pursued after them, the way to Iorden, vnto the foordes, and as soone as they which pursued after them, were gone out, they shut the gate.
8 Kí àwọn ayọ́lẹ̀wò náà tó sùn ní alẹ́, ó gòkè tọ̀ wọ́n lọ lókè àjà.
And before they were a sleepe, she came vp vnto them vpon the roofe,
9 Ó sì sọ fún wọn, “Èmi mọ̀ pé Olúwa ti fún un yín ní ilẹ̀ yìí àti pé ẹ̀rù u yín ti sọ wá di ojo dé ibi pé ìdí gbogbo àwọn tí ó n gbé ilẹ̀ yìí ti di omi nítorí i yín.
And saide vnto the men, I knowe that the Lord hath giuen you the land, and that the feare of you is fallen vpon vs, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 Àwa ti gbọ́ bí Olúwa ti mú omi Òkun Pupa gbẹ níwájú u yín nígbà tí ẹ̀yin jáde kúrò ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti, àti ohun tí ẹ̀yin ṣe sí Sihoni àti Ogu, àwọn ọba méjèèjì ti Amori ti ìlà-oòrùn Jordani, tí ẹ̀yin parun pátápátá.
For we haue heard, howe the Lord dried vp the water of the redde Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt, and what you did vnto the two Kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Iorden, vnto Sihon and to Og, whom ye vtterly destroyed:
11 Bí a ti gbọ́ nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ọkàn wa pami kò sì sí okun kankan fún wa mọ́ nítorí i yín, nítorí pé Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ni Ọlọ́run ní òkè ọ̀run àti ní ayé.
And when wee heard it, our heartes did faint, and there remained no more courage in any because of you: for the Lord your God, he is the God in heauen aboue, and in earth beneath.
12 Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, ẹ jọ̀wọ́ ẹ búra fún mi ní ti Olúwa pé ẹ̀yin yóò ṣe àánú fún ìdílé mi, nítorí pé mo ti ṣe yín ní oore. Ẹ̀yin yóò fún mi ní àmì tó dájú:
Now therefore, I pray you, sweare vnto me by the Lord; that as I haue shewed you mercie, ye will also shewe mercie vnto my fathers house, and giue me a true token,

And that yee will saue aliue my father and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they haue: and that yee will deliuer our soules from death.
14 “Ẹ̀mí wa fún ẹ̀mí in yín!” àwọn ọkùnrin náà mú dá a lójú. “Tí ìwọ kò bá sọ ohun tí àwa ń ṣe, àwa yóò sì fi òtítọ́ àti àánú bá ọ lò nígbà tí Olúwa bá fún wa ní ilẹ̀ náà.”
And the men answered her, Our life for you to die, if ye vtter not this our businesse: and when the Lord hath giuen vs the lande, we will deale mercifully and truely with thee.
15 Nígbà náà ní ó fi okùn sọ̀ wọ́n kalẹ̀ ní ojú u fèrèsé, nítorí ilé tí ó ń gbé wà ní ara odi ìlú.
Then she let them downe by a corde thorowe the windowe: for her house was vpon the towne wall, and she dwelt vpon the wall.
16 Ó sì ti sọ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ lọ sí orí òkè, kí ẹ sì fi ara pamọ́ níbẹ̀ fún ọjọ́ mẹ́ta kí àwọn tí ń lépa yín má ba à rí i yín títí tí wọn yóò fi darí. Lẹ́yìn náà kí ẹ máa bá ọ̀nà yín lọ.”
And she said vnto them, Goe you into the mountaine, least the pursuers meete with you, and hide your selues there three dayes, vntill the pursuers be returned: then afterwarde may yee goe your way.
17 Àwọn arákùnrin náà sì sọ fún un pé, “Kí ọrùn un wa ba à lè mọ́ kúrò nínú ìbúra tí ìwọ mú wa bú yìí.
And the men said vnto her, We will be blamelesse of this thine othe, which thou hast made vs sweare.
18 Nígbà tí àwa bá wọ ilé è rẹ, ìwọ yóò so okùn aláwọ̀ aró yìí sí ojú fèrèsé èyí tí ìwọ fi sọ̀ wá kalẹ̀, kí ìwọ kí ó mú baba rẹ, ìyá rẹ, àwọn arákùnrin in rẹ àti gbogbo ìdílé è rẹ kí wọ́n wá sí inú ilé è rẹ.
Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this cord of red threde in the window, whereby thou lettest vs downe, and thou shalt bring thy father and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy fathers houshold home to thee.
19 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá jáde sí ìta láti inú ilé è rẹ sí inú ìgboro ìlú, ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ yóò sì wà ní orí ara rẹ̀; ẹ̀bi rẹ̀ yóò sì wà lórí i rẹ̀. Fún ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá wà nínú ilé pẹ̀lú rẹ, ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ yóò wà ní orí i wa bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá fi ọwọ́ kàn án.
And whosoeuer then doeth goe out at the doores of thine house into the streete, his blood shalbe vpon his head, and we will be giltlesse: but whosoeuer shall be with thee in the house, his blood shalbe on our head, if any hande touch him:
20 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ìwọ bá sọ ohun tí àwa ń ṣe, àwa yóò bọ́ nínú ìbúra tí ìwọ mú wa bú.”
And if thou vtter this our matter, we will be quite of thine othe, which thou hast made vs sweare.
21 Ó dáhùn pé, “Ó dára bẹ́ẹ̀. Ẹ jẹ́ kí ó rí gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀yin tí sọ.” Ó sì rán wọn lọ wọ́n sì lọ. Ó sì so okùn òdòdó náà sí ojú fèrèsé.
And she answered, According vnto your wordes, so be it: then she sent them away, and they departed, and she bound the red cord in ye window.
22 Nígbà tí wọ́n kúrò, wọ́n sì lọ sí orí òkè wọ́n sì dúró ní ibẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ mẹ́ta, títí àwọn alépa fi wá wọn ní gbogbo ọ̀nà wọ́n sì padà láìrí wọn.
And they departed, and came into the mountaine, and there abode three dayes, vntil the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but founde them not.
23 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ọkùnrin méjì náà padà. Wọ́n sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti orí òkè, wọ odò, wọ́n sì wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ Joṣua ọmọ Nuni wọ́n sì sọ fún un gbogbo ohun tí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀ sí wọn.
So the two men returned, and descended from the mountaine, and passed ouer, and came to Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and tolde him all things that came vnto them.
24 Wọ́n sì sọ fún Joṣua, “Nítòótọ́ ni Olúwa tí fi gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà lé wa lọ́wọ́; gbogbo olùgbé ilẹ̀ náà ni ìbẹ̀rùbojo ti mú nítorí i wa.”
Also they saide vnto Ioshua, Surely the Lord hath deliuered into our handes all the lande: for euen all the inhabitants of the countrey faint because of vs.
