< Joshua 10 >

1 Ní báyìí tí Adoni-Sedeki ọba Jerusalẹmu gbọ́ pé Joṣua ti gba Ai, tí ó sì ti pa wọ́n pátápátá; tí ó sì ṣe sí Ai àti ọba rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe sí Jeriko àti ọba rẹ̀, àti bí àwọn ènìyàn Gibeoni ti ṣe àdéhùn àlàáfíà pẹ̀lú Israẹli, tí wọ́n sì ń gbé nítòsí wọn.
And it comes to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem hears that Joshua has captured Ai, and devotes it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he has done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst—
2 Ìbẹ̀rù sì mú òun àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ torí pé Gibeoni jẹ́ ìlú tí ó ṣe pàtàkì, bí ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìlú ọba; ó tóbi ju Ai lọ, gbogbo ọkùnrin rẹ̀ ní ó jẹ́ jagunjagun.
that they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon [is] a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it [is] greater than Ai, and all its men [are] heroes.
3 Nítorí náà Adoni-Sedeki ọba Jerusalẹmu bẹ Hohamu ọba Hebroni, Piramu ọba Jarmatu, Jafia ọba Lakiṣi àti Debiri ọba Egloni. Wí pe,
And Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sends to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 “Ẹ gòkè wá, kí ẹ sì ràn mi lọ́wọ́ láti kọlu Gibeoni, nítorí tí ó ti wà ní ìrẹ́pọ̀ pẹ̀lú Joṣua àti àwọn ará Israẹli.”
“Come up to me, and help me, and we strike Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.”
5 Àwọn ọba Amori márààrún, ọba Jerusalẹmu, Hebroni, Jarmatu, Lakiṣi àti Egloni, kó ara wọn jọ, wọ́n sì gòkè, àwọn àti gbogbo ogun wọn, wọ́n sì dojúkọ Gibeoni, wọ́n sì kọlù ú.
And five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.
6 Àwọn ará Gibeoni sì ránṣẹ́ sí Joṣua ní ibùdó ní Gilgali pé, “Ẹ má ṣe fi ìránṣẹ́ yín sílẹ̀. Ẹ gòkè tọ̀ wà wá ní kánkán kí ẹ sì gbà wá là. Ẹ ràn wá lọ́wọ́, nítorí gbogbo àwọn ọba Amori tí ń gbé ní orílẹ̀-èdè òkè dojú ìjà kọ wá.”
And the men of Gibeon send to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not let your hand cease from your servants; come up to us [with] haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.”
7 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua gòkè lọ láti Gilgali pẹ̀lú gbogbo ogun rẹ̀, àti akọni nínú àwọn ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀.
And Joshua goes up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valor.
8 Olúwa sì sọ fún Joṣua pé, “Má ṣe bẹ̀rù wọn, Mo ti fi wọ́n lé ọ lọ́wọ́. Kò sí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú wọn ti yóò lè dojúkọ ọ́.”
And YHWH says to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have given them into your hand, there does not stand a man of them in your presence.”
9 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n ti wọ́de ogun ní gbogbo òru náà láti Gilgali, Joṣua sì yọ sí wọn lójijì.
And Joshua comes to them suddenly (all the night he has gone up from Gilgal),
10 Olúwa mú kí wọn dààmú níwájú àwọn Israẹli, wọ́n sì pa wọ́n ní ìpakúpa ní Gibeoni. Israẹli sì lépa wọn ní ọ̀nà tí ó lọ sí Beti-Horoni, ó sì pa wọ́n dé Aseka, àti Makkeda.
and YHWH crushes them before Israel, and strikes them [with] a great striking at Gibeon, and pursues them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and strikes them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.
11 Bí wọ́n sì tí ń sá ní iwájú Israẹli ní gẹ̀rẹ́gẹ̀rẹ́ ní ọ̀nà láti Beti-Horoni títí dé Aseka, Olúwa rọ yìnyín ńlá sí wọn láti ọ̀run wá, àwọn tí ó ti ipa yìnyín kú sì pọ̀ ju àwọn tí àwọn ará Israẹli fi idà pa lọ.
And it comes to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel—they [are] in the descent of Beth-Horon—and YHWH has cast great stones on them out of the heavens, to Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.
12 Ní ọjọ́ tí Olúwa fi àwọn ọmọ Amori lé Israẹli lọ́wọ́, Joṣua sọ fún Olúwa níwájú àwọn ará Israẹli, “Ìwọ oòrùn, dúró jẹ́ẹ́ ní orí Gibeoni, Ìwọ òṣùpá, dúró jẹ́ẹ́ lórí àfonífojì Aijaloni.”
Then Joshua speaks to YHWH in the day of YHWH’s giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he says before the eyes of Israel, “Sun—stand still in Gibeon; and moon—in the Valley of Ajalon”;
13 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni oòrùn náà sì dúró jẹ́ẹ́, òṣùpá náà sì dúró, títí tí ìlú náà fi gbẹ̀san lára àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ́ nínú ìwé Jaṣari. Oòrùn sì dúró ní agbede-méjì ọ̀run, kò sì wọ̀ ní ìwọ̀n odindi ọjọ́ kan.
and the sun stands still, and the moon has stood—until the nation takes vengeance [on] its enemies; is it not written on the Scroll of the Upright, “and the sun stands in the midst of the heavens, and has not hurried to go in—as a perfect day?”
14 Kò sí ọjọ́ tí o dàbí rẹ̀ ṣáájú tàbí ní ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ọjọ́ tí Olúwa gbọ́ ohùn ènìyàn. Dájúdájú Olúwa jà fún Israẹli!
And there has not been like that day before it or after it, for YHWH’s listening to the voice of a man; for YHWH is fighting for Israel.
15 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua àti gbogbo Israẹli padà sí ibùdó ní Gilgali.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
16 Ní báyìí àwọn ọba Amori márùn-ún ti sálọ, wọ́n sì fi ara pamọ́ nínú ihò àpáta kan ní Makkeda,
And these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,
17 nígbà tí wọ́n sọ fún Joṣua pé, a ti rí àwọn ọba márààrún, ti ó fi ara pamọ́ nínú ihò àpáta ní Makkeda,
and it is declared to Joshua, saying, “The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.”
18 ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ yí òkúta ńlá dí ẹnu ihò àpáta náà, kí ẹ sì yan àwọn ọkùnrin sí ibẹ̀ láti ṣọ́ ọ.
And Joshua says, “Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and appoint men over it to watch them;
19 Ṣùgbọ́n, ẹ má ṣe dúró! Ẹ lépa àwọn ọ̀tá yín, ẹ kọlù wọ́n láti ẹ̀yìn, kí ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí wọn kí ó dé ìlú wọn, nítorí tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín tí fi wọ́n lé yín lọ́wọ́.”
and you, do not stand, pursue after your enemies, and you have struck them from the rear; do not permit them to go into their cities, for your God YHWH has given them into your hand.”
20 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní Joṣua àti àwọn ọmọ Israẹli pa wọ́n ní ìpakúpa wọ́n sì pa gbogbo ọmọ-ogun àwọn ọba márààrún run, àyàfi àwọn díẹ̀ tí wọ́n tiraka láti dé ìlú olódi wọn.
And it comes to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to strike them [with] a very great striking until they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go into the fortified cities,
21 Gbogbo àwọn ọmọ-ogun sì padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ Joṣua ní ibùdó ogun ní Makkeda ní àlàáfíà, kò sí àwọn tí ó dábàá láti tún kọlu Israẹli.
that all the people return to the camp, to Joshua, [at] Makkedah, in peace; none moved his tongue sharply against the sons of Israel.
22 Joṣua sì wí pe, “Ẹ ṣí ẹnu ihò náà, kí ẹ sì mú àwọn ọba márààrún jáde wá fún mi.”
And Joshua says, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out to me these five kings from the cave”;
23 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì mú àwọn ọba márààrún náà kúrò nínú ihò àpáta, àwọn ọba Jerusalẹmu, Hebroni, Jarmatu, Lakiṣi àti Egloni.
and they do so, and bring out to him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.
24 Nígbà tí wọ́n mú àwọn ọba náà tọ Joṣua wá, ó pe gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli, ó sì sọ fún àwọn olórí ọmọ-ogun tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ súnmọ́ bí, kí ẹ sì fi ẹsẹ̀ yín lé ọrùn àwọn ọba wọ̀nyí.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n wá sí iwájú, wọ́n sì gbé ẹsẹ̀ lé ọrùn wọn.
And it comes to pass, when they bring out these kings to Joshua, that Joshua calls to every man of Israel, and says to the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, “Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings”; and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.
25 Joṣua sì sọ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù, ẹ má sì ṣe fòyà. Ẹ ṣe gírí, kí ẹ sì mú àyà le. Báyìí ni Olúwa yóò ṣe sí gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá yín, tí ẹ̀yin yóò bá jà.”
And Joshua says to them, “Do not fear, nor be frightened; be strong and courageous; for thus does YHWH do to all your enemies with whom you are fighting”;
26 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua kọlù wọ́n, ó sì pa àwọn ọba márààrún náà, ó sì so wọ́n rọ̀ ní orí igi ọ̀tọ̀ọ̀tọ̀ márùn-ún, wọ́n sì fi wọ́n sí orí igi títí di ìrọ̀lẹ́.
and Joshua strikes them afterward, and puts them to death, and hangs them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 Nígbà tí oòrùn wọ̀, Joṣua pàṣẹ, wọ́n sì sọ̀ wọ́n kalẹ̀ kúrò ní orí igi, wọ́n sì gbé wọn jù sí inú ihò àpáta ní ibi tí wọ́n sá pamọ́ sí. Wọ́n sì fi òkúta ńlá dí ẹnu ihò náà, tí ó sì wà níbẹ̀ di òní yìí.
And it comes to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua has commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them into the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave until this very day.
28 Ní ọjọ́ náà Joṣua gba Makkeda. Ó sì fi ojú idà kọlu ìlú náà àti ọba rẹ̀, ó sì run gbogbo wọn pátápátá, kò fi ẹnìkan sílẹ̀. Ó sì ṣe sí ọba Makkeda gẹ́gẹ́ bí o ti ṣe sí ọba Jeriko.
And Joshua has captured Makkedah on that day, and he strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and he has devoted its king, them and every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; and he does to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.
29 Nígbà náà ní Joṣua àti gbogbo Israẹli tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ kọjá láti Makkeda lọ sí Libina wọ́n sì kọlù ú.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah [to] Libnah, and fights with Libnah;
30 Olúwa sì fi ìlú náà àti ọba rẹ̀ lé Israẹli lọ́wọ́. Ìlú náà àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn ibẹ̀ ni Joṣua fi idà pa. Kò fi ẹnìkan sílẹ̀ ní ibẹ̀: Ó sì ṣe sí ọba rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe sí ọba Jeriko.
and YHWH also gives it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and [Joshua] strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it—he does not leave a remnant in it; and he does to its king as he did to the king of Jericho.
31 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua àti gbogbo ará Israẹli, tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ kọjá láti Libina lọ sí Lakiṣi; ó sì dó tì í, ó sì kọlù ú.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encamps against it, and fights against it.
32 Olúwa sì fi Lakiṣi lé Israẹli lọ́wọ́, Joṣua sì gbà á ní ọjọ́ kejì. Ìlú náà àti gbogbo ènìyàn ibẹ̀ ní ó fi idà pa gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe sí Libina.
And YHWH gives Lachish into the hand of Israel, and [Joshua] captures it on the second day, and strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it, according to all that he did to Libnah.
33 Ní àkókò yìí, Horamu ọba Geseri gòkè láti ran Lakiṣi lọ́wọ́, ṣùgbọ́n Joṣua ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀ àti àwọn ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀ títí ti kò fi ku ẹnìkan sílẹ̀.
Then Horam king of Gezer has come up to help Lachish, and Joshua strikes him and his people, until he has not left a remnant to him.
34 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua àti gbogbo Israẹli tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ kọjá láti Lakiṣi lọ sí Egloni; wọ́n sì dó tì í, wọ́n sì kọlù ú.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Lachish to Eglon, and they encamp against it, and fight against it,
35 Wọ́n gbà á ní ọjọ́ náà, wọ́n sì fi ojú idà kọlù ú, wọ́n sì run gbogbo ènìyàn ibẹ̀ pátápátá, gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti ṣe sí Lakiṣi.
and capture it on that day, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it he has devoted on that day, according to all that he did to Lachish.
36 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua àti gbogbo Israẹli ṣí láti Egloni lọ sí Hebroni, wọ́n sì kọlù ú.
And Joshua goes up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron, and they fight against it,
37 Wọ́n gba ìlú náà, wọ́n sì ti idà bọ̀ ọ́, pẹ̀lú ọba rẹ̀, gbogbo ìletò wọn àti gbogbo ènìyàn ibẹ̀. Wọn kò dá ẹnìkan sí. Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ti Egloni, wọ́n run un pátápátá àti gbogbo ènìyàn inú rẹ̀.
and capture it, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant—according to all that he did to Eglon—and devotes it, and every person who [is] in it.
38 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua àti gbogbo Israẹli tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ yí padà, wọ́n sì kọlu Debiri.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fights against it,
39 Wọ́n gba ìlú náà, ọba rẹ̀ àti gbogbo ìlú wọn, wọ́n sì fi idà pa wọ́n. Gbogbo ènìyàn inú rẹ̀ ni wọ́n parun pátápátá. Wọn kò sì dá ẹnìkankan sí. Wọ́n ṣe sí Debiri àti ọba rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọn ti ṣe sí Libina àti ọba rẹ̀ àti sí Hebroni.
and captures it, and its king, and all its cities, and they strike them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.
40 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua ṣẹ́gun gbogbo agbègbè náà, ìlú òkè, gúúsù, ìlú ẹsẹ̀ òkè ti ìhà ìwọ̀-oòrùn àti gẹ̀rẹ́gẹ̀rẹ́ òkè pẹ̀lú gbogbo ọba, wọn kò dá ẹnìkankan sí. Ó pa gbogbo ohun alààyè run pátápátá, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ti pàṣẹ.
And Joshua strikes all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings—he has not left a remnant, and he has devoted all that breathe, as YHWH, God of Israel, commanded.
41 Joṣua sì ṣẹ́gun wọn láti Kadeṣi-Barnea sí Gasa àti láti gbogbo agbègbè Goṣeni lọ sí Gibeoni.
And Joshua strikes them from Kadesh-Barnea, even to Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even to Gibeon;
42 Gbogbo àwọn ọba wọ̀nyí àti ilẹ̀ wọn ní Joṣua ṣẹ́gun ní ìwọ́de ogun ẹ̀ẹ̀kan, nítorí tí Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, jà fún Israẹli.
and Joshua has captured all these kings and their land [at] one time, for YHWH, God of Israel, is fighting for Israel.
43 Nígbà náà ni Joṣua padà sí ibùdó ní Gilgali pẹ̀lú gbogbo Israẹli.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
