< Jonah 2 >
1 Nígbà náà ni Jona gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ láti inú ẹja náà wá,
Jonah prayed to the Lord his God, out of the belly of the fish,
2 Ó sì wí pé: “Nínú ìpọ́njú mi ni mo kígbe sí Olúwa, òun sì gbọ́ ohùn mi. Mo kígbe láti inú ipò òkú, mo pè fún ìrànwọ́, ìwọ sì gbọ́ ohùn mi. (Sheol )
and said: I cried out of my distress, to the Lord and he answered me; out of the midst of Sheol I cried aloud, and you heard my voice. (Sheol )
3 Nítorí tí ìwọ ti sọ mí sínú ibú, ní àárín Òkun, ìṣàn omi sì yí mi káàkiri; gbogbo bíbì omi àti rírú omi rékọjá lórí mi.
For you cast me into the deep, into heart of the seas, and the great flood rolled about me; all your breakers and your waves passed over me.
4 Nígbà náà ni mo wí pé, ‘A ta mí nù kúrò níwájú rẹ; ṣùgbọ́n síbẹ̀ èmi yóò tún máa wo ìhà tẹmpili mímọ́ rẹ.’
Then I said, I am driven out, away from your sight; How will I ever again look towards your holy temple?
5 Omi yí mi káàkiri, àní títí dé ọkàn; ibú yí mi káàkiri, a fi koríko odò wé mi lórí.
The waters surrounded me, the great deep engulfed me, the sea weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 Èmi sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí ìsàlẹ̀ àwọn òkè ńlá; ilẹ̀ ayé pẹ̀lú ìdènà rẹ̀ yí mi ká títí: ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ ti mú ẹ̀mí mi wá sókè láti inú ibú wá, Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi.
I went down to the roots of the mountains; the prison of the earth closed over me forever. Yet you brought up my life from destruction, O Lord my God.
7 “Nígbà tí ó rẹ ọkàn mi nínú mi, èmi rántí rẹ, Olúwa, àdúrà mi sì wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ, nínú tẹmpili mímọ́ rẹ.
As my life slipped away, I remembered the Lord; and my prayer reached you, in your holy temple.
8 “Àwọn tí ń fàmọ́ òrìṣà èké kọ àánú ara wọn sílẹ̀.
Those who worship worthless idols abandon their own mercy,
9 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi yóò fi orin ọpẹ́, rú ẹbọ sí ọ. Èmi yóò san ẹ̀jẹ́ tí mo ti jẹ́. ‘Ìgbàlà wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa.’”
but I will sacrifice to you with loud thanksgiving! I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is the Lord’s.
10 Olúwa sì pàṣẹ fún ẹja náà, ó sì pọ Jona sí orí ilẹ̀ gbígbẹ.
And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it threw up Jonah upon the dry land.
