< John 6 >
1 Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí, Jesu kọjá sí apá kejì Òkun Galili, tí í ṣe Òkun Tiberia.
After these things Jesus went away beyond the sea of Galilee, [or] of Tiberias,
2 Ọ̀pọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn, nítorí tí wọ́n rí iṣẹ́ àmì rẹ̀ tí ó ń ṣe lára àwọn aláìsàn.
and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
3 Jesu sì gun orí òkè lọ, níbẹ̀ ni ó sì gbé jókòó pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀.
And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there sat with his disciples:
4 Àjọ ìrékọjá ọdún àwọn Júù sì súnmọ́ etílé.
but the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
5 Ǹjẹ́ bí Jesu ti gbé ojú rẹ̀ sókè, tí ó sì rí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, ó wí fún Filipi pé, “Níbo ni a ó ti ra àkàrà, kí àwọn wọ̀nyí lè jẹ?”
Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?
6 Ó sì sọ èyí láti dán an wò; nítorí tí òun fúnra rẹ̀ mọ ohun tí òun ó ṣe.
But this he said trying him, for he knew what he was going to do.
7 Filipi dá a lóhùn pé, “Àkàrà igba owó idẹ kò lè tó fún wọn, bí olúkúlùkù wọn kò tilẹ̀ ní í rí ju díẹ̀ bù jẹ.”
Philip answered him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not sufficient for them, that each may have some little [portion].
8 Ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, Anderu, arákùnrin Simoni Peteru wí fún un pé,
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says to him,
9 “Ọmọdékùnrin kan ń bẹ níhìn-ín yìí, tí ó ní ìṣù àkàrà barle márùn-ún àti ẹja wẹ́wẹ́ méjì, ṣùgbọ́n kín ni ìwọ̀nyí jẹ́ láàrín ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn wọ̀nyí?”
There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fishes; but this, what is it for so many?
10 Jesu sì wí pé, “Ẹ mú kí àwọn ènìyàn náà jókòó!” Koríko púpọ̀ sì wá níbẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọkùnrin náà jókòó; ìwọ̀n ẹgbẹ̀rún márùn-ún ènìyàn ní iye.
[And] Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place: the men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 Jesu sì mú ìṣù àkàrà náà. Nígbà tí ó sì ti dúpẹ́, ó pín wọn fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì pín wọn fún àwọn tí ó jókòó; bẹ́ẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ sì ni ẹja ní ìwọ̀n bí wọ́n ti ń fẹ́.
And Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed [them] to those that were set down; and in like manner of the small fishes as much as they would.
12 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì yó, ó wí fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ kó àjẹkù tí ó kù jọ, kí ohunkóhun má ṣe ṣòfò.”
And when they had been filled, he says to his disciples, Gather together the fragments which are over and above, that nothing may be lost.
13 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n kó wọn jọ wọ́n sì fi àjẹkù ìṣù àkàrà barle márùn-ún náà kún agbọ̀n méjìlá, èyí tí àwọn tí ó jẹun jẹ kù.
They gathered [them] therefore together, and filled twelve hand-baskets full of fragments of the five barley loaves, which were over and above to those that had eaten.
14 Nítorí náà nígbà tí àwọn ọkùnrin náà rí iṣẹ́ àmì tí Jesu ṣe, wọ́n wí pé, “Lóòótọ́ èyí ni wòlíì náà tí ń bọ̀ wá sí ayé.”
The men therefore, having seen the sign which Jesus had done, said, This is truly the prophet which is coming into the world.
15 Nígbà tí Jesu sì wòye pé wọ́n ń fẹ́ wá fi agbára mú òun láti lọ fi jẹ ọba, ó tún padà lọ sórí òkè, òun nìkan.
Jesus therefore knowing that they were going to come and seize him, that they might make [him] king, departed again to the mountain himself alone.
16 Nígbà tí alẹ́ sì lẹ́, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Òkun.
But when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 Wọ́n sì bọ́ sínú ọkọ̀ ojú omi, wọ́n sì rékọjá Òkun lọ sí Kapernaumu. Ilẹ̀ sì ti ṣú, Jesu kò sì tí ì dé ọ̀dọ̀ wọn.
and having gone on board ship, they went over the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not come to them,
18 Òkun sì ń ru nítorí ẹ̀fúùfù líle tí ń fẹ́.
and the sea was agitated by a strong wind blowing.
19 Nígbà tí wọ́n wa ọkọ̀ ojú omi tó bí ìwọ̀n ibùsọ̀ mẹ́ẹ̀ẹ́dọ́gbọ̀n tàbí ọgbọ̀n, wọ́n rí Jesu ń rìn lórí Òkun, ó sì súnmọ́ ọkọ̀ ojú omi náà; ẹ̀rù sì bà wọ́n.
Having rowed then about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the ship; and they were frightened.
20 Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi ni; ẹ má bẹ̀rù.”
But he says to them, It is I: be not afraid.
21 Nítorí náà wọ́n fi ayọ̀ gbà á sínú ọkọ̀; lójúkan náà ọkọ̀ náà sì dé ilẹ̀ ibi tí wọ́n ń lọ.
They were willing therefore to receive him into the ship; and immediately the ship was at the land to which they went.
22 Ní ọjọ́ kejì nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn tí ó dúró ní òdìkejì Òkun rí i pé, kò sí ọkọ̀ ojú omi mìíràn níbẹ̀, bí kò ṣe ọ̀kan náà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ wọ̀, àti pé Jesu kò bá àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ wọ inú ọkọ̀ ojú omi náà, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ nìkan ni ó lọ.
On the morrow the crowd which stood on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other little ship there except that into which his disciples had got, and that Jesus had not gone with his disciples into the ship, but [that] his disciples had gone away alone;
23 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọkọ̀ ojú omi mìíràn ti Tiberia wá, létí ibi tí wọn gbé jẹ àkàrà, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí Olúwa ti dúpẹ́.
(but other little ships out of Tiberias came near to the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks; )
24 Nítorí náà nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn rí i pé Jesu tàbí ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ kò sí níbẹ̀, àwọn pẹ̀lú wọ ọkọ̀ ojú omi lọ sí Kapernaumu, wọ́n ń wá Jesu.
when therefore the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they got into the ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì rí i ní apá kejì Òkun, wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Rabbi, nígbà wo ni ìwọ wá síyìn-ín yìí?”
And having found him the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when art thou arrived here?
26 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn ó sì wí pé, “Lóòótọ́ lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín. Ẹ̀yin ń wá mi, kì í ṣe nítorí tí ẹ̀yin rí iṣẹ́ àmì, ṣùgbọ́n nítorí ẹ̀yin jẹ àjẹyó ìṣù àkàrà.
Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten of the loaves and been filled.
27 Ẹ má ṣe ṣiṣẹ́ fún oúnjẹ tí ń ṣègbé, ṣùgbọ́n fún oúnjẹ tí ó wà títí di ayé àìnípẹ̀kun, èyí tí Ọmọ Ènìyàn yóò fi fún yín. Nítorí pé òun ni, àní Ọlọ́run Baba ti fi èdìdì dì í.” (aiōnios )
Work not [for] the food which perishes, but [for] the food which abides unto life eternal, which the Son of man shall give to you; for him has the Father sealed, [even] God. (aiōnios )
28 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n wí fún wọn pé, “Kín ni àwa ó ha ṣe, kí a lè ṣe iṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run?”
They said therefore to him, What should we do that we may work the works of God?
29 Jesu dáhùn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Èyí ni iṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run pé, kí ẹ̀yin gba ẹni tí ó rán an gbọ́.”
Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he has sent.
30 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n wí fún wọn pé, “Iṣẹ́ àmì kín ní ìwọ ń ṣe, tí àwa lè rí, kí a sì gbà ọ́ gbọ́? Iṣẹ́ kín ní ìwọ ṣe?
They said therefore to him, What sign then doest thou that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Àwọn baba wa jẹ manna ní aginjù; gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, ‘Ó fi oúnjẹ láti ọ̀run wá fún wọn jẹ.’”
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
32 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́ lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, kì í ṣe Mose ni ó fi oúnjẹ fún yín láti ọ̀run wá, ṣùgbọ́n Baba mi ni ó fi oúnjẹ òtítọ́ náà fún yín láti ọ̀run wá.
Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, [It is] not Moses that has given you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
33 Nítorí pé oúnjẹ Ọlọ́run ni èyí tí ó ti ọ̀run sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá, tí ó sì fi ìyè fún aráyé.”
For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.
34 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, máa fún wa ní oúnjẹ yìí títí láé.”
They said therefore to him, Lord, ever give to us this bread.
35 Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi ni oúnjẹ ìyè, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá tọ̀ mí wá, ebi kì yóò pa á; ẹni tí ó bá sì gbà mí gbọ́, òǹgbẹ kì yóò gbẹ ẹ́ mọ́ láé.
[And] Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time.
36 Ṣùgbọ́n mo wí fún yín pé, Ẹ̀yin ti rí mi, ẹ kò sì gbàgbọ́.
But I have said to you, that ye have also seen me and do not believe.
37 Gbogbo èyí tí Baba fi fún mi, yóò tọ̀ mí wá; ẹni tí ó bá sì tọ̀ mí wá, èmi kì yóò tà á nù, bí ó tí wù kó rí.
All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.
38 Nítorí èmi sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ọ̀run wá, kì í ṣe láti máa ṣe ìfẹ́ ti èmi fúnra mi, bí kò ṣe ìfẹ́ ti ẹni tí ó rán mi.
For I am come down from heaven, not that I should do my will, but the will of him that has sent me.
39 Èyí sì ni ìfẹ́ Baba tí ó rán mi pé ohun gbogbo tí o fi fún mi, kí èmi má ṣe sọ ọ̀kan nù nínú wọn, ṣùgbọ́n kí èmi lè jí wọn dìde níkẹyìn ọjọ́.
And this is the will of him that has sent me, that of all that he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up in the last day.
40 Èyí sì ni ìfẹ́ ẹni tí ó rán mi, pé ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá wo ọmọ, tí ó bá sì gbà á gbọ́, kí ó lè ní ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun, Èmi ó sì jí i dìde níkẹyìn ọjọ́.” (aiōnios )
For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios )
41 Nígbà náà ni àwọn Júù ń kùn sí i, nítorí tí ó wí pé, “Èmi ni oúnjẹ tí ó ti ọ̀run sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá.”
The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which has come down out of heaven.
42 Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Jesu ha kọ́ èyí, ọmọ Josẹfu, baba àti ìyá ẹni tí àwa mọ̀? Báwo ni ó ṣe wí pé, ‘Èmi ti ọ̀run sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá’?”
And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then does he say, I am come down out of heaven?
43 Nítorí náà Jesu dáhùn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe kùn láàrín yín!
Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 Kò sí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó lè wá sọ́dọ̀ mi, bí kò ṣe pé Baba tí ó rán mi fà á, Èmi ó sì jí i dìde níkẹyìn ọjọ́.
No one can come to me except the Father who has sent me draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day.
45 A sá à ti kọ ọ́ nínú ìwé àwọn wòlíì pé, ‘A ó sì kọ́ gbogbo wọn láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá,’ nítorí náà ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ti gbọ́, tí a sì ti ọ̀dọ̀ Baba kọ́, òun ni ó ń tọ̀ mí wá.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every one that has heard from the Father [himself], and has learned [of him], comes to me;
46 Kì í ṣe pé ẹnìkan ti rí Baba bí kò ṣe ẹni tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá, òun ni ó ti rí Baba.
not that any one has seen the Father, except he who is of God, he has seen the Father.
47 Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ẹni tí ó bá gbà mí gbọ́, ó ní ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun. (aiōnios )
Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes [on me] has life eternal. (aiōnios )
49 Àwọn baba yín jẹ manna ní aginjù, wọ́n sì kú.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died.
50 Èyí ni oúnjẹ tí ó ti ọ̀run sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá, kí ènìyàn lè máa jẹ nínú rẹ̀ kí ó má sì kú.
This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
51 Èmi ni oúnjẹ ìyè náà tí ó ti ọ̀run sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá, bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá jẹ nínú oúnjẹ yìí, yóò yè títí láéláé, oúnjẹ náà tí èmi ó sì fi fún ni fún ìyè aráyé ni ara mi.” (aiōn )
I am the living bread which has come down out of heaven: if any one shall have eaten of this bread he shall live for ever; but the bread withal which I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (aiōn )
52 Nítorí náà ni àwọn Júù ṣe ń bá ara wọn jiyàn, pé, “Ọkùnrin yìí yóò ti ṣe lè fi ara rẹ̀ fún wa láti jẹ?”
The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?
53 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, bí kò ṣe pé ẹ̀yin bá jẹ ara Ọmọ Ènìyàn, kí ẹ sì mu ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀, ẹ̀yin kò ní ìyè nínú yin.
Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Unless ye shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of man, and drunk his blood, ye have no life in yourselves.
54 Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá jẹ ara mi, tí ó bá sì mu ẹ̀jẹ̀ mi, ó ní ìyè tí kò nípẹ̀kun. Èmi o sì jí i dìde níkẹyìn ọjọ́. (aiōnios )
He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up at the last day: (aiōnios )
55 Nítorí ara mi ni ohun jíjẹ nítòótọ́, àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ mi ni ohun mímu nítòótọ́.
for my flesh is truly food and my blood is truly drink.
56 Ẹni tí ó bá jẹ ara mi, tí ó bá sì mu ẹ̀jẹ̀ mi, ó ń gbé inú mi, èmi sì ń gbé inú rẹ̀.
He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I in him.
57 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba alààyè ti rán mi, tí èmi sì yè nípa Baba gẹ́gẹ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹni tí ó jẹ mí, òun pẹ̀lú yóò yè nípa mi.
As the living Father has sent me and I live on account of the Father, he also who eats me shall live also on account of me.
58 Èyí sì ni oúnjẹ náà tí ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ọ̀run wá, kì í ṣe bí àwọn baba yín ti jẹ manna, tí wọ́n sì kú, ẹni tí ó bá jẹ́ oúnjẹ yìí yóò yè láéláé.” (aiōn )
This is the bread which has come down out of heaven. Not as the fathers ate and died: he that eats this bread shall live for ever. (aiōn )
59 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni ó sọ nínú Sinagọgu, bí ó ti ń kọ́ni ní Kapernaumu.
These things he said in [the] synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.
60 Nítorí náà nígbà tí ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ gbọ́ èyí, wọ́n wí pé, “Ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó le ni èyí; ta ní lè gbọ́ ọ?”
Many therefore of his disciples having heard [it] said, This word is hard; who can hear it?
61 Nígbà tí Jesu sì mọ̀ nínú ara rẹ̀ pé àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ń kùn sí ọ̀rọ̀ náà, ó wí fún wọn pé, “Èyí jẹ́ ìkọ̀sẹ̀ fún yín bí?
But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmur concerning this, said to them, Does this offend you?
62 Ǹjẹ́, bí ẹ̀yin bá sì rí i tí Ọmọ Ènìyàn ń gòkè lọ sí ibi tí ó gbé ti wà rí ń kọ́?
If then ye see the Son of man ascending up where he was before?
63 Ẹ̀mí ní ń sọ ni di ààyè; ara kò ní èrè kan; ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí tí mo sọ fún yín, ẹ̀mí ni, ìyè sì ni pẹ̀lú.
It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.
64 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn kan wà nínú yín tí kò gbàgbọ́.” Nítorí Jesu mọ̀ láti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ wá ẹni tí wọ́n jẹ́ tí kò gbàgbọ́, àti ẹni tí yóò fi òun hàn.
But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would deliver him up.
65 Ó sì wí pé, “Nítorí náà ni mo ṣe wí fún yín pé, kò sí ẹni tí ó lè tọ̀ mí wá, bí kò ṣe pé a fi fún un láti ọ̀dọ̀ Baba mi wá.”
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no one can come to me unless it be given to him from the Father.
66 Nítorí èyí ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ padà sẹ́yìn, wọn kò sì bá a rìn mọ́.
From that [time] many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.
67 Nítorí náà Jesu wí fún àwọn méjìlá pé, “Ẹ̀yin pẹ̀lú ń fẹ́ lọ bí?”
Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Nígbà náà ni Simoni Peteru dá a lóhùn pé, “Olúwa, ọ̀dọ̀ ta ni àwa ó lọ? Ìwọ ni ó ni ọ̀rọ̀ ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun. (aiōnios )
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast words of life eternal; (aiōnios )
69 Àwa sì ti gbàgbọ́, a sì mọ̀ pé ìwọ ni Kristi náà, Ọmọ Ọlọ́run alààyè.”
and we have believed and known that thou art the holy one of God.
70 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Ẹ̀yin méjìlá kọ́ ni mo yàn, ọ̀kan nínú yín kò ha sì ya èṣù?”
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you the twelve? and of you one is a devil.
71 (Ó ń sọ ti Judasi Iskariotu ọmọ Simoni ọ̀kan nínú àwọn méjìlá, nítorí pé òun ni ẹni tí yóò fi í hàn.)
Now he spoke of Judas [the son] of Simon, Iscariote, for he [it was who] should deliver him up, being one of the twelve.
