< John 20 >

1 Ní kùtùkùtù ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní ọ̀sẹ̀, nígbà tí ilẹ̀ kò tí ì mọ́, ni Maria Magdalene wá sí ibojì, ó sì rí i pé, a ti gbé òkúta kúrò lẹ́nu ibojì.
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, while it was yet dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and discovered that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
2 Nítorí náà, ó sáré, ó sì tọ Simoni Peteru àti ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mìíràn wá, ẹni tí Jesu fẹ́ràn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Wọ́n ti gbé Olúwa kúrò nínú ibojì, àwa kò sì mọ ibi tí wọ́n gbé tẹ́ ẹ sí.”
So she came running to Simon Peter and that other disciple whom Jesus loved, saying, "They have taken the Master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him!"
3 Nígbà náà ni Peteru àti ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mìíràn náà jáde, wọ́n sì wá sí ibojì.
So Peter and the other disciples set out at once to go to the tomb.
4 Àwọn méjèèjì sì jùmọ̀ sáré: èyí ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà sì sáré ya Peteru, ó sì kọ́kọ́ dé ibojì.
They both began to run; and the other disciple ran faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb.
5 Ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ láti wo inú rẹ̀, ó rí aṣọ ọ̀gbọ̀ náà ní ilẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n òun kò wọ inú rẹ̀.
Stooping down he glanced in and saw the linen wrapping lying on the ground; but he did not go in.
6 Nígbà náà ni Simoni Peteru tí ń bọ̀ lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ dé, ó sì wọ inú ibojì, ó sì rí aṣọ ọ̀gbọ̀ náà ní ilẹ̀.
Then Peter also came following him, and he went inside the tomb; and he gazed at the linen wrapping as they lay,
7 Àti pé, gèlè tí ó wà níbi orí rẹ̀ kò sì wà pẹ̀lú aṣọ ọ̀gbọ̀ náà, ṣùgbọ́n ó ká jọ ní ibìkan fúnra rẹ̀.
and the napkin which had been about his head not lying with the wrappings, but rolled up in it’s own place.
8 Nígbà náà ni ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mìíràn náà, ẹni tí ó kọ́ dé ibojì wọ inú rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú, ó sì rí i, ó sì gbàgbọ́.
Then the other disciple also who arrived first at the tomb went inside, and he perceived and believed.
9 (Nítorí tí wọn kò sá à tí mọ ìwé mímọ́ pé, Jesu ní láti jíǹde kúrò nínú òkú).
For not yet had they understood the Scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà sì tún padà lọ sí ilé wọn.
Then the disciples went back again to their home.
11 Ṣùgbọ́n Maria dúró létí ibojì lóde, ó ń sọkún: bí ó ti ń sọkún, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó bẹ̀rẹ̀, ó sì wo inú ibojì.
Meanwhile, outside, Mary stood sobbing near the tomb. Still sobbing she stooped and looked into the tomb,
12 Ó sì kíyèsi àwọn angẹli méjì aláṣọ funfun, wọ́n jókòó, ọ̀kan níhà orí àti ọ̀kan níhà ẹsẹ̀, níbi tí òkú Jesu gbé ti sùn sí.
and gazed at two angels in glistening white sitting, one at the head the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 Wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Obìnrin yìí, èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ń sọkún?” Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Nítorí tí wọ́n ti gbé Olúwa mi, èmi kò sì mọ ibi tí wọ́n gbé tẹ́ ẹ sí.”
They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She answered, "Because they have taken away my Master, and I do not know where they have laid him."
14 Nígbà tí ó sì ti wí èyí tan, ó yípadà, ó sì rí Jesu dúró, kò sì mọ̀ pé Jesu ni.
When she had said this she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but did not know that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her. "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?’ She, supposing that he was the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have borne him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away, myself."
16 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Maria!” Ó sì yípadà, ó wí fún un ní èdè Heberu pé, “Rabboni!” (èyí tí ó túmọ̀ sí “Olùkọ́”).
"Mary," said Jesus. She turned to him. "Rabboni!" she cried in Hebrew. That is to say, "Teacher."
17 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Má ṣe fi ọwọ́ kàn mí; nítorí tí èmi kò tí ì gòkè lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Baba mi. Ṣùgbọ́n lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn arákùnrin mi, sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Èmi ń gòkè lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Baba mi, àti Baba yín, àti sí ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run mi, àti Ọlọ́run yín.’”
"Do not cling to me," said Jesus, "for I am not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, "‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’"
18 Maria Magdalene wá, ó sì sọ fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, “Òun ti rí Olúwa!” Àti pé, ó sì ti fi nǹkan wọ̀nyí fún òun.
Away went Mary Magdalene to the disciples with the tidings, "I have seen the Master!" and that he said these things to her.
19 Ní ọjọ́ kan náà, lọ́jọ́ kìn-ín-ní ọ̀sẹ̀ nígbà tí alẹ́ lẹ́, tí a sì ti ìlẹ̀kùn ibi tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn gbé péjọ, nítorí ìbẹ̀rù àwọn Júù, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Jesu dé, ó dúró láàrín, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Àlàáfíà fún yín.”
On the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, although the doors of the room where the disciples gathered had been locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came, and there he stood among them, saying. "Peace to you!"
20 Nígbà tí ó sì ti wí bẹ́ẹ̀ tán, ó fi ọwọ́ àti ìhà rẹ̀ hàn wọ́n. Nígbà náà ni àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn yọ̀, nígbà tí wọ́n rí Olúwa.
As he said this he showed them his hands and his side. Then were the disciple glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Nítorí náà, Jesu sì tún wí fún wọn pé, “Àlàáfíà fún yín: gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba ti rán mi, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi sì rán yín.”
Then Jesus said to them again. "Peace to you. As my Father has sent me forth, I also now am sending you."
22 Nígbà tí ó sì ti wí èyí tan, ó mí sí wọn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ gba Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́!
When he had said this he breathed upon them and said.
23 Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ẹnikẹ́ni tí ẹ̀yin bá fi jì, a fi jì wọ́n; ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ẹnikẹ́ni tí ẹ̀yin bá dádúró, a dá wọn dúró.”
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you remit any one’s sins, they are remitted; if you retain them they are retained."
24 Ṣùgbọ́n Tomasi, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn méjìlá, tí a ń pè ní Didimu, kò wà pẹ̀lú wọn nígbà tí Jesu dé.
But Thomas, one of the Twelve, who was called "The Twin." was not with them when Jesus came.
25 Nítorí náà àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn ìyókù wí fún un pé, “Àwa ti rí Olúwa!” Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí fún un pé, “Bí kò ṣe pé mo bá rí àpá ìṣó ni ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kí èmi sì fi ìka mi sí àpá ìṣó náà, kí èmi sì fi ọwọ́ mi sí ìhà rẹ̀, èmi kì yóò gbàgbọ́!”
Accordingly the other disciples kept telling him, "We have seen the Lord." But he told them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and thrust my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe it."
26 Lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ mẹ́jọ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn sì tún wà nínú ilé, àti Tomasi pẹ̀lú wọn: nígbà tí a sì ti ti ìlẹ̀kùn, Jesu dé, ó sì dúró láàrín, ó wí pé, “Àlàáfíà fún yín.”
A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood there among and said. "Peace to you!"
27 Nígbà náà ni ó wí fún Tomasi pé, “Mú ìka rẹ wá níhìn-ín yìí, kí o sì wo ọwọ́ mi; sì mú ọwọ́ rẹ wá níhìn-ín, kí o sì fi sí ìhà mi: kí ìwọ má ṣe jẹ́ aláìgbàgbọ́ mọ́, ṣùgbọ́n jẹ́ onígbàgbọ́.”
Then to Thomas he said. "Place your finger here, and see my hands; and place your hand here, and thrust it into my side, and become not unbelieving, but believing."
28 Tomasi dáhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Olúwa mi àti Ọlọ́run mi!”
Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Nítorí tí ìwọ rí mi ni ìwọ ṣe gbàgbọ́, alábùkún fún ni àwọn tí kò rí mi, tí wọ́n sì gbàgbọ́!”
"Because you have seen me, Thomas, you have believed," Jesus told him. "Blessed are those who, without seeing, yet believed."
30 Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ iṣẹ́ àmì mìíràn ni Jesu ṣe níwájú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, tí a kò kọ sínú ìwé yìí.
There were then many other signs which Jesus performed in the presence of his disciples, which have not been written in this book;
31 Ṣùgbọ́n wọ̀nyí ni a kọ, kí ẹ̀yin lè gbàgbọ́ pé Jesu ní í ṣe Kristi náà, Ọmọ Ọlọ́run, àti pé nípa gbígbàgbọ́, kí ẹ̀yin lè ní ìyè ní orúkọ rẹ̀.
but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
