< John 19 >
1 Nítorí náà ni Pilatu mú Jesu, ó sì nà án.
Then Pilate took Jesus, and scourged Him.
2 Àwọn ọmọ-ogun sì hun adé ẹ̀gún, wọ́n sì fi dé e ní orí, wọ́n sì fi aṣọ ìgúnwà elése àlùkò wọ̀ ọ́.
And the soldiers having plaited a crown of thorns, placed it on His head, and put on Him a purple robe;
3 Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Kábíyèsí, ọba àwọn Júù!” Wọ́n sì fi ọwọ́ wọn gbá a ní ojú.
and came to Him and continued to say, Hail, King of the Jews! and they gave Him slaps.
4 Pilatu sì tún jáde, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Wò ó, mo mú u jáde tọ̀ yín wá, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó lè mọ̀ pé, èmi kò rí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ kan lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.”
Again Pilate went out, and speaks to them, Behold, I lead Him out to you, in order that you may know that I find no fault.
5 Nítorí náà Jesu jáde wá, ti òun ti adé ẹ̀gún àti aṣọ elése àlùkò. Pilatu sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ wò ọkùnrin náà!”
Then Jesus came out, bearing the thorny crown and purple robe. And he says to them, Behold, the man!
6 Nítorí náà nígbà tí àwọn olórí àlùfáà, àti àwọn oníṣẹ́ rí i, wọ́n kígbe wí pé, “Kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú, kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú.” Pilatu wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ mú un fún ara yín, kí ẹ sì kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú: nítorí èmi kò rí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.”
Then when the high priest and officers saw Him, they cried out, Crucify Him, crucify Him. Pilate says to them, You take Him, and crucify Him: for I find nothing criminal in Him.
7 Àwọn Júù dá a lóhùn wí pé, “Àwa ní òfin kan, àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin, wa ó yẹ fún un láti kú, nítorí ó gbà pé Ọmọ Ọlọ́run ni òun ń ṣe.”
And the Jews responded, We have a law, and according to law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.
8 Nítorí náà nígbà tí Pilatu gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí, ẹ̀rù túbọ̀ bà á.
Then when Pilate heard this word, he feared the more;
9 Ó sì tún wọ inú gbọ̀ngàn ìdájọ́ lọ, ó sì wí fún Jesu pé, “Níbo ni ìwọ ti wá?” Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu kò dá a lóhùn.
then he went again into the judgment hall, and speaks to Jesus, Whence art thou? And Jesus gave him no answer.
Pilate says to Him, Do you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and I have power to crucify you?
11 Jesu dá a lóhùn pé, “Ìwọ kì bá tí ní agbára kan lórí mi, bí kò ṣe pé a fi í fún ọ láti òkè wá, nítorí náà ẹni tí ó fi mí lé ọ lọ́wọ́ ni ó ní ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ pọ̀jù.”
Jesus responded, Thou hast no power against me, unless it was given to thee from above: on this account the one having betrayed me to thee has the greater sin.
12 Nítorí èyí, Pilatu ń wá ọ̀nà láti dá a sílẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn Júù kígbe, wí pé, “Bí ìwọ bá dá ọkùnrin yìí sílẹ̀, ìwọ kì í ṣe ọ̀rẹ́ Kesari: ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ṣe ara rẹ̀ ní ọba, ó sọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí Kesari.”
After this Pilate still sought to release Him: but the Jews continued to cry out, saying, If you release Him, you are not the friend of Caesar: every one making himself king speaks against Caesar.
13 Nítorí náà nígbà tí Pilatu gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí, ó mú Jesu jáde wá, ó sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ ìdájọ́ ní ibi tí a ń pè ní Òkúta-títẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n ní èdè Heberu, Gabata.
Then Pilate hearing these words, led out Jesus, and sat down on the tribunal, in the place called Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 Ó jẹ́ ìpalẹ̀mọ́ àjọ ìrékọjá, ó sì jẹ́ ìwọ̀n wákàtí ẹ̀kẹfà: Ó sì wí fún àwọn Júù pé, “Ẹ wo ọba yín!”
And it was the preparation of the passover: and was about the sixth hour. And he says to the Jews, Behold, your King!
15 Nítorí náà wọ́n kígbe wí pé, “Mú un kúrò, mú un kúrò. Kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú.” Pilatu wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi yóò ha kan ọba yín mọ́ àgbélébùú bí?” Àwọn olórí àlùfáà dáhùn wí pé, “Àwa kò ní ọba bí kò ṣe Kesari.”
Then they cried out, Take Him away, take Him away, crucify Him. Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your King? And the chief priests responded, We have no king but Caesar.
16 Nítorí náà ni Pilatu fà á lé wọn lọ́wọ́ láti kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú. Àwọn ológun gba Jesu lọ́wọ́ Pilatu.
Therefore he then delivered Him to them that He should be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.
17 Nítorí náà, wọ́n mú Jesu, ó sì jáde lọ, ó ru àgbélébùú fúnra rẹ̀ sí ibi tí à ń pè ní ibi agbárí, ní èdè Heberu tí à ń pè ní Gọlgọta.
And He was bearing His cross. And He went out into a place called Calvary, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.
18 Níbi tí wọ́n gbé kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú, àti àwọn méjì mìíràn pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, níhà ìhín àti níhà kejì, Jesu sì wà láàrín.
They crucified Him there, and two others with Him, on this side and on that side, and Jesus in the midst.
19 Pilatu sì kọ ìwé kan pẹ̀lú, ó sì fi lé e lórí àgbélébùú náà. Ohun tí a sì kọ ni, Jesu ti Nasareti Ọba àwọn Júù.
And Pilate also wrote His title, and placed it upon the cross. And it was written, JESUS THE NAZARENE THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20 Nítorí náà, ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn Júù ni ó ka ìwé àkọlé yìí, nítorí ibi tí a gbé kan Jesu mọ́ àgbélébùú súnmọ́ etí ìlú, a sì kọ ọ́ ní èdè Heberu àti Latin, àti ti Giriki.
Then many of the Jews read this title: because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city: And it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Roman.
21 Nítorí náà àwọn olórí àlùfáà àwọn Júù wí fún Pilatu pé, “Má ṣe kọ, ‘Ọba àwọn Júù,’ ṣùgbọ́n pé ọkùnrin yìí wí pé, èmi ni ọba àwọn Júù.”
Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Write not, King of the Jews; but that He said, I am the King of the Jews.
22 Pilatu dáhùn pé, ohun tí mo ti kọ, mo ti kọ ọ́.
Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
23 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ọmọ-ogun, nígbà tí wọ́n kan Jesu mọ́ àgbélébùú tán, wọ́n mú aṣọ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì pín wọn sí ipa mẹ́rin, apá kan fún ọmọ-ogun kọ̀ọ̀kan, àti ẹ̀wù àwọ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀wù àwọ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ náà kò ní ojúràn-án, wọ́n hun ún láti òkè títí jálẹ̀.
Then the soldiers, when they crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made them four parts, a part for each soldier; and the vesture. And the vesture was seamless, woven from the top throughout.
24 Nítorí náà wọ́n wí fún ara wọn pé, “Ẹ má jẹ́ kí a fà á ya, ṣùgbọ́n kí a ṣẹ́ gègé nítorí rẹ̀.” Ti ẹni tí yóò jẹ́: kí ìwé mímọ́ kí ó le ṣẹ, tí ó wí pé, “Wọ́n pín aṣọ mi láàrín ara wọn, wọ́n sì ṣẹ́ gègé fún aṣọ ìlekè mi.” Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni àwọn ọmọ-ogun ṣe.
Then they said to one another, Let us not tear it, but let us gamble for it, whose it shall be. In order that the Scripture may be fulfilled, saying, They divided my garments among themselves, and upon my vesture they cast the lot. Then indeed the soldiers did these things.
25 Ìyá Jesu àti arábìnrin ìyá rẹ̀ Maria aya Kilopa, àti Maria Magdalene sì dúró níbi àgbélébùú,
And by the cross of Jesus stood His mother, and the sister of His mother, Mary the mother of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 nígbà tí Jesu rí ìyá rẹ̀ àti ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà dúró, ẹni tí Jesu fẹ́ràn, ó wí fún ìyá rẹ̀ pé, “Obìnrin, wo ọmọ rẹ!”
Then Jesus seeing His mother, and the disciple whom He loved, standing by, said to His mother; Woman, behold, thy son.
27 Lẹ́yìn náà ni ó sì wí fún ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà pé, “Wo ìyá rẹ!” Láti wákàtí náà lọ ni ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà sì ti mú un lọ sí ilé ara rẹ̀.
Then He says to the disciple, Behold, thy mother. And from that hour that disciple received her into his own home.
28 Lẹ́yìn èyí, bí Jesu ti mọ̀ pé, a ti parí ohun gbogbo tán, kí ìwé mímọ́ bà á lè ṣẹ, ó wí pé, “Òrùngbẹ ń gbẹ mí.”
After this, Jesus seeing that all things are already perfected, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, says, I thirst.
29 Ohun èlò kan tí ó kún fún ọtí kíkan wà níbẹ̀, wọ́n tẹ kànìnkànìn tí ó kún fún ọtí kíkan bọ inú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì fi lé orí igi hísópù, wọ́n sì nà án sí i lẹ́nu.
Then a vessel was sitting by full of vinegar: and filling a sponge with vinegar and placing it on the hyssop, they brought it to His mouth.
30 Nígbà tí Jesu sì ti gba ọtí kíkan náà, ó wí pé, “Ó parí!” Ó sì tẹ orí rẹ̀ ba, ó jọ̀wọ́ ẹ̀mí rẹ̀.
Then when Jesus received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
31 Nítorí ó jẹ́ ọjọ́ ìpalẹ̀mọ́, kí òkú wọn má ba à wà lórí àgbélébùú ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi (nítorí ọjọ́ ńlá ni ọjọ́ ìsinmi náà), nítorí náà, àwọn Júù bẹ Pilatu pé kí a ṣẹ́ egungun itan wọn, kí a sì gbé wọn kúrò.
Then the Jews, in order that the bodies may not remain on the cross during the Sabbath, since it was the Preparation (for the day of that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate, that they might break their legs, and take them down.
32 Nítorí náà, àwọn ọmọ-ogun wá, wọ́n sì ṣẹ́ egungun itan ti èkínní, àti ti èkejì, tí a kàn mọ́ àgbélébùú pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
Then the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first one, and of the other one being crucified along with Him.
33 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí wọ́n dé ọ̀dọ̀ Jesu, tí wọ́n sì rí i pé ó ti kú, wọn kò ṣẹ́ egungun itan rẹ̀,
But having come to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs:
34 ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ogun náà fi ọ̀kọ̀ gún un lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́, lójúkan náà, ẹ̀jẹ̀ àti omi sì tú jáde.
but one of the soldiers pierced His side through with the spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 Ẹni tí ó rí sì jẹ́rìí, òtítọ́ sì ni ẹ̀rí rẹ̀, ó sì mọ̀ pé òtítọ́ ni òun sọ, kí ẹ̀yin ba à lè gbàgbọ́.
And He having seen hath testified, and his testimony is true: and he knows that he speaks the truth, that you also may believe.
36 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ṣe, kí ìwé mímọ́ ba à lè ṣẹ, tí ó wí pé, “A kì yóò fọ́ egungun rẹ̀.”
For these things took place, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken.
37 Ìwé mímọ́ mìíràn pẹ̀lú sì wí pé, “Wọn ó máa wo ẹni tí a gún lọ́kọ̀.”
Again another Scripture says, They shall look on Him, whom they have pierced.
38 Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí ní Josẹfu ará Arimatea, ẹni tí ó jẹ́ ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn Jesu, ní ìkọ̀kọ̀, nítorí ìbẹ̀rù àwọn Júù, o bẹ Pilatu kí òun lè gbé òkú Jesu kúrò, Pilatu sì fún un ní àṣẹ. Nígbà náà ni ó wá, ó sì gbé òkú Jesu lọ.
After these things, Joseph from Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden on account of the fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted. Then he came and took the body of Jesus.
39 Nikodemu pẹ̀lú sì wá, ẹni tí ó tọ Jesu wá lóru lákọ̀ọ́kọ́, ó sì mú àdàpọ̀ òjìá àti aloe wá, ó tó ìwọ̀n ọgọ́rùn-ún lita.
And Nicodemus also, the one having come at first to Jesus by night, came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
40 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n gbé òkú Jesu, wọ́n sì fi aṣọ ọ̀gbọ̀ dì í pẹ̀lú tùràrí, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìṣe àwọn Júù ti rí ní ìsìnkú wọn.
Then they received the body of Jesus, and wrapped it in linens with aromatics, as is the custom to the Jews to embalm.
41 Àgbàlá kan sì wà níbi tí a gbé kàn án mọ́ àgbélébùú; ibojì tuntun kan sì wà nínú àgbàlá náà, nínú èyí tí a kò tí ì tẹ́ ẹnìkan sí rí.
And there was in the place where He was crucified, a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, in which no one was ever yet placed.
42 Ǹjẹ́ níbẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì tẹ́ Jesu sí, nítorí ìpalẹ̀mọ́ àwọn Júù; àti nítorí ibojì náà wà nítòsí.
Then on account of the Preparation of the Jews (because the sepulcher was near), they placed Jesus there.
