< John 18 >

1 Nígbà tí Jesu sì ti sọ nǹkan wọ̀nyí tán, ó jáde pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ lọ sókè odò Kidironi, níbi tí àgbàlá kan wà, nínú èyí tí ó wọ̀, Òun àti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀.
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples across the brook Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples.
2 Judasi, ẹni tí ó fihàn, sì mọ ibẹ̀ pẹ̀lú, nítorí nígbà púpọ̀ ni Jesu máa ń lọ síbẹ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀.
And Judas also, his betrayer, knew the place; because Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.
3 Nígbà náà ni Judasi, lẹ́yìn tí ó ti gba ẹgbẹ́ ọmọ-ogun, àti àwọn oníṣẹ́ láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn Farisi wá síbẹ̀ ti àwọn ti fìtílà àti ògùṣọ̀, àti ohun ìjà.
Judas then, having received the band of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with torches and lanterns and weapons.
4 Nítorí náà bí Jesu ti mọ ohun gbogbo tí ń bọ̀ wá bá òun, ó jáde lọ, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ta ni ẹyin ń wá?”
But Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith to them, Whom do ye seek?
5 Wọ́n sì dá a lóhùn wí pé, “Jesu ti Nasareti.” Jesu sì wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi nìyí.” (Àti Judasi ọ̀dàlẹ̀, dúró pẹ̀lú wọn).
They answered him, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus saith to them, I am he. Now Judas also, his betrayer, was standing with them.
6 Nítorí náà bí ó ti wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi nìyí,” wọ́n bì sẹ́yìn, wọ́n sì ṣubú lulẹ̀.
As soon then as he said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Nítorí náà ó tún bi wọ́n léèrè, wí pé, “Ta ni ẹ ń wá?” Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Jesu ti Nasareti.”
Again therefore he asked them, Whom do ye seek? And they said, Jesus the Nazarene.
8 Jesu dáhùn pé, “Mo ti wí fún yín pé, èmi nìyí. Ǹjẹ́ bí èmi ni ẹ bá ń wá, ẹ jẹ́ kí àwọn wọ̀nyí máa lọ.”
Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he. If therefore ye are seeking me, let these men go.
9 Kí ọ̀rọ̀ nì kí ó lè ṣẹ, èyí tó wí pé, “Àwọn tí ìwọ fi fún mi, èmi kò sọ ọ̀kan nù nínú wọn.”
That the saying might be fulfilled which he spoke, “Of those whom thou hast given me, I have lost none.”
10 Nígbà náà ni Simoni Peteru ẹni tí ó ní idà, fà á yọ, ó sì ṣá ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ olórí àlùfáà, ó sì ké etí ọ̀tún rẹ̀ sọnù. Orúkọ ìránṣẹ́ náà a máa jẹ́ Makọọsi.
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and smote the servant of the high-priest, and cut off his right ear. And the servant's name was Malchus.
11 Nítorí náà Jesu wí fún Peteru pé, “Tẹ idà rẹ bọ inú àkọ̀ rẹ, ago tí baba ti fi fún mi, èmi ó ṣe aláìmu ún bí?”
Jesus therefore said to Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath. The cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
12 Nígbà náà ni ẹgbẹ́ ọmọ-ogun àti olórí ẹ̀ṣọ́, àti àwọn oníṣẹ́ àwọn Júù mú Jesu, wọ́n sì dè é.
So the band and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took Jesus and bound him,
13 Wọ́n kọ́kọ́ fà á lọ sọ́dọ̀ Annasi; nítorí òun ni àna Kaiafa, ẹni tí í ṣe olórí àlùfáà ní ọdún náà.
and carried him to Annas first; for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high-priest that year.
14 Kaiafa sá à ni ẹni tí ó ti bá àwọn Júù gbìmọ̀ pé, ó ṣàǹfààní kí ènìyàn kan kú fún àwọn ènìyàn.
And it was Caiaphas who counseled the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Simoni Peteru sì ń tọ Jesu lẹ́yìn, àti ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mìíràn kan: ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà jẹ́ ẹni mí mọ̀ fún olórí àlùfáà, ó sì bá Jesu wọ ààfin olórí àlùfáà lọ.
And Simon Peter and the other disciple followed Jesus. That disciple was an acquaintance of the high-priest, and went with Jesus into the court of the palace of the high-priest.
16 Ṣùgbọ́n Peteru dúró ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà lóde. Nígbà náà ni ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mìíràn náà tí í ṣe ẹni mí mọ̀ fún olórí àlùfáà jáde, ó sì bá olùṣọ́nà náà sọ̀rọ̀, ó sì mú Peteru wọlé.
But Peter was standing outside at the door. The other disciple therefore, who was an acquaintance of the high-priest, went out and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 Nígbà náà ni ọmọbìnrin náà tí ń ṣọ́ ẹnu-ọ̀nà wí fún Peteru pé, “Ìwọ pẹ̀lú ha ń ṣe ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn ọkùnrin yìí bí?” Ó wí pé, “Èmi kọ́.”
Then the maid-servant that kept the door saith to Peter, Art thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 Àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ àti àwọn aláṣẹ sì dúró níbẹ̀, àwọn ẹni tí ó ti dáná nítorí ti òtútù mú, wọ́n sì ń yáná, Peteru sì dúró pẹ̀lú wọn, ó ń yáná.
And the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold, and were warming themselves; and Peter was standing with them and warming himself.
19 Nígbà náà ni olórí àlùfáà bi Jesu léèrè ní ti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, àti ní ti ẹ̀kọ́ rẹ̀.
The high-priest then asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching.
20 Jesu dá a lóhùn pé, “Èmi ti sọ̀rọ̀ ní gbangba fún aráyé; nígbà gbogbo ni èmi ń kọ́ni nínú Sinagọgu, àti ní tẹmpili níbi tí gbogbo àwọn Júù ń péjọ sí, èmi kò sì sọ ohun kan ní ìkọ̀kọ̀.
Jesus answered him, I have spoken plainly to the world; I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews assemble, and in secret I spoke nothing.
21 Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ń bi mí léèrè? Béèrè lọ́wọ́ àwọn tí ó ti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi, ohun tí mo wí fún wọn: wò ó, àwọn wọ̀nyí mọ ohun tí èmi wí.”
Why askest thou me? Ask those who have heard, what I have spoken to them; behold, these know what I have said.
22 Bí ó sì ti wí èyí tan, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn aláṣẹ tí ó dúró tì í fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ lu Jesu, pé, “Alábojútó àlùfáà ni ìwọ ń dá lóhùn bẹ́ẹ̀?”
And when he had said this, one of the officers who was standing by struck Jesus on the face, saying, Is it thus that thou answerest the high-priest?
23 Jesu dá a lóhùn pé, “Bí mo bá sọ̀rọ̀ búburú, jẹ́rìí sí búburú náà, ṣùgbọ́n bí rere bá ni, èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ń lù mí?”
Jesus answered him, If I spoke what is evil, testify to the evil; but if well, why dost thou strike me?
24 Nítorí Annasi rán an lọ ní dídè sọ́dọ̀ Kaiafa olórí àlùfáà.
Annas therefore sent him bound to Caiaphas the high-priest.
25 Ṣùgbọ́n Simoni Peteru dúró, ó sì ń yáná. Nígbà náà ni wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ pẹ̀lú ha jẹ́ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀?” Ó sì sẹ́, wí pé, “Èmi kọ́.”
And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, Art thou also one of his disciples? He denied and said, I am not.
26 Ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ olórí àlùfáà, tí ó jẹ́ ìbátan ẹni tí Peteru gé etí rẹ̀ sọnù, wí pé, “Èmi ko ha rí ọ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ ní àgbàlá?”
One of the servants of the high-priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 Peteru tún sẹ́: lójúkan náà àkùkọ sì kọ.
Then Peter denied again; and immediately a cock crew.
28 Nígbà náà, wọ́n fa Jesu láti ọ̀dọ̀ Kaiafa lọ sí ibi gbọ̀ngàn ìdájọ́, ó sì jẹ́ kùtùkùtù òwúrọ̀; àwọn tìkára wọn kò wọ inú gbọ̀ngàn ìdájọ́, kí wọn má ṣe di aláìmọ́, ṣùgbọ́n kí wọn lè jẹ àsè ìrékọjá.
Then they lead Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace; and it was early. And they did not themselves go into the palace, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
29 Nítorí náà Pilatu jáde tọ̀ wọ́n lọ, ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ̀sùn kín ní ẹ̀yin mú wá fun ọkùnrin yìí?”
Pilate therefore went out to them, and saith, What accusation do ye bring against this man?
30 Wọ́n sì dáhùn wí fún un pé, “Ìbá má ṣe pé ọkùnrin yìí ń hùwà ibi, a kì bá tí fà á lé ọ lọ́wọ́.”
They answered and said to him, If he had not been doing evil, we would not have delivered him up to thee.
31 Nítorí náà Pilatu wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ mú un tìkára yín, kí ẹ sì ṣe ìdájọ́ rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin yín.” Nítorí náà ni àwọn Júù wí fún un pé, “Kò tọ́ fún wa láti pa ẹnikẹ́ni.”
Pilate therefore said to them, Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any one to death.
32 Kí ọ̀rọ̀ Jesu ba à lè ṣẹ, èyí tí ó sọ tí ó ń ṣàpẹẹrẹ irú ikú tí òun yóò kú.
That the words of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what kind of death he was to die.
33 Nítorí náà, Pilatu tún wọ inú gbọ̀ngàn ìdájọ́ lọ, ó sì pe Jesu, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ha ni a pè ni ọba àwọn Júù bí?”
Pilate therefore went into the palace again, and called Jesus, and said to him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34 Jesu dáhùn pé, “Èrò ti ara rẹ ni èyí, tàbí àwọn ẹlòmíràn sọ ọ́ fún ọ nítorí mi?”
Jesus answered, Dost thou say this of thyself, or did others tell thee concerning me?
35 Pilatu dáhùn wí pé, “Èmi ha jẹ́ Júù bí? Àwọn ọmọ orílẹ̀-èdè rẹ, àti àwọn olórí àlùfáà ni ó fà ọ́ lé èmi lọ́wọ́, kín ní ìwọ ṣe?”
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thy own nation and the chief priests delivered thee up to me. What hast thou done?
36 Jesu dáhùn wí pé, “Ìjọba mi kì í ṣe ti ayé yìí. Ìbá ṣe pé ìjọba mi jẹ́ ti ayé yìí, àwọn ìránṣẹ́ mi ìbá jà, kí a má ba à fi mí lé àwọn Júù lọ́wọ́, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí ìjọba mi kì í ṣe láti ìhín lọ.”
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I should not be delivered up to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest what is true; for I am a king. For this end have I been born, and for this cause have I come into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth listeneth to my voice.
Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them, I find nothing criminal in him.
39 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ní àṣà kan pé, kí èmi dá ọ̀kan sílẹ̀ fún yín nígbà àjọ ìrékọjá, nítorí náà ẹ ó ha fẹ́ kí èmi dá ọba àwọn Júù sílẹ̀ fún yín bí?”
But ye have a custom that I should release to you one at the passover: do ye desire, therefore, that I release to you the king of the Jews?
40 Nítorí náà gbogbo wọn tún kígbe pé, “Kì í ṣe ọkùnrin yìí, bí kò ṣe Baraba!” Ọlọ́ṣà sì ni Baraba.
Then they cried out again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
