< John 13 >
1 Ǹjẹ́ kí àjọ ìrékọjá tó dé, nígbà tí Jesu mọ̀ pé, wákàtí rẹ̀ dé tan, tí òun ó ti ayé yìí kúrò lọ sọ́dọ̀ Baba, fífẹ́ tí ó fẹ́ àwọn tirẹ̀ tí ó wà ní ayé, ó fẹ́ wọn títí dé òpin.
It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end.
2 Bí wọ́n sì ti ń jẹ oúnjẹ alẹ́, tí èṣù ti fi í sí ọkàn Judasi Iskariotu ọmọ Simoni láti fi í hàn;
The evening meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.
3 tí Jesu sì ti mọ̀ pé Baba ti fi ohun gbogbo lé òun lọ́wọ́, àti pé lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run ni òun ti wá, òun sì ń lọ sọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run;
Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God.
4 Ó dìde ní ìdí oúnjẹ alẹ́, ó sì fi agbádá rẹ̀ lélẹ̀ ní apá kan; nígbà tí ó sì mú aṣọ ìnura, ó di ara rẹ̀ ní àmùrè.
So He got up from the supper, laid aside His outer garments, and wrapped a towel around His waist.
5 Lẹ́yìn náà, ó bu omi sínú àwokòtò kan, ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í máa wẹ ẹsẹ̀ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ó sì ń fi aṣọ ìnura tí ó fi di àmùrè nù wọ́n.
After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him.
6 Nígbà náà ni ó dé ọ̀dọ̀ Simoni Peteru, òun sì wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, ìwọ yóò ha wẹ ẹsẹ̀ mi?”
He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesu dá a lóhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Ohun tí èmi ń ṣe ni ìwọ kò mọ̀ nísinsin yìí; ṣùgbọ́n yóò yé ọ ní ìkẹyìn.”
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 Peteru wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ kì yóò wẹ̀ ẹsẹ̀ mi láé.” Jesu sì dalóhùn pé, “Bí èmi kò bá wẹ̀ ọ́, ìwọ kò ní ìpín ní ọ̀dọ̀ mi.” (aiōn )
“Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him. Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.” (aiōn )
9 Simoni Peteru wí fún ún pé, “Olúwa, kì í ṣe ẹsẹ̀ mi nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n àti ọwọ́ àti orí mi pẹ̀lú.”
“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not only my feet, but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Ẹni tí a wẹ̀ kò tún fẹ́ ju kí a ṣan ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ó mọ́ níbi gbogbo: ẹ̀yin sì mọ́, ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe gbogbo yín.”
Jesus told him, “Whoever has already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean. And you are clean, though not all of you.”
11 Nítorí tí ó mọ ẹni tí yóò fi òun hàn; nítorí náà ni ó ṣe wí pé, kì í ṣe gbogbo yín ni ó mọ́.
For He knew who would betray Him. That is why He said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12 Nítorí náà lẹ́yìn tí ó wẹ ẹsẹ̀ wọn tán, tí ó sì ti mú agbádá rẹ̀, tí ó tún jókòó, ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ̀yin mọ ohun tí mo ṣe sí yín bí?
When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His outer garments, He reclined with them again and asked, “Do you know what I have done for you?
13 Ẹ̀yin ń pè mí ní ‘Olùkọ́’ àti ‘Olúwa,’ ẹ̀yin wí rere; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo jẹ́.
You call Me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am.
14 Ǹjẹ́ bí èmi tí í ṣe Olúwa àti olùkọ́ yín bá wẹ ẹsẹ̀ yín, ó tọ́ kí ẹ̀yin pẹ̀lú sì máa wẹ ẹsẹ̀ ara yín.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.
15 Nítorí mo fi àpẹẹrẹ fún yín, kí ẹ̀yin lè máa ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo ti ṣe sí yín.
I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you.
16 Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ kò tóbi ju ọ̀gá rẹ̀ lọ, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹni tí a rán kò tóbi ju ẹni tí ó rán an lọ.
Truly, truly, I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
17 Bí ẹ̀yin bá mọ nǹkan wọ̀nyí, alábùkún fún ni yín, bí ẹ̀yin bá ń ṣe wọ́n!
If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
18 “Kì í ṣe ti gbogbo yín ni mo ń sọ, èmi mọ àwọn tí mo yàn, ṣùgbọ́n kí Ìwé Mímọ́ bá à lè ṣẹ, ‘Ẹni tí ń bá mi jẹun pọ̀ sì gbé gìgísẹ̀ rẹ̀ sí mi.’
I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who shares My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’
19 “Láti ìsinsin yìí lọ ni mo wí fún un yín kí ó tó dé, pé nígbà tí ó bá dé, kí ẹ̀yin lè gbàgbọ́ pé èmi ni.
I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it comes to pass, you will believe that I am He.
20 Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún un yín, ẹni tí ó bá gba ẹnikẹ́ni tí mo rán, ó gbà mí; ẹni tí ó bá sì gbà mí, ó gba ẹni tí ó rán mi.”
Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever receives the one I send receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me.”
21 Nígbà tí Jesu ti wí nǹkan wọ̀nyí tán, ọkàn rẹ̀ dàrú nínú rẹ̀, ó sì jẹ́rìí, ó sì wí pé, “Lóòótọ́ lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún un yín pé, ọ̀kan nínú yín yóò dà mí.”
After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit and testified, “Truly, truly, I tell you, one of you will betray Me.”
22 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ń wò ara wọn lójú, wọ́n ń ṣiyèméjì ti ẹni tí ó wí.
The disciples looked at one another, perplexed as to which of them He meant.
23 Ǹjẹ́ ẹnìkan rọ̀gbọ̀kú sí àyà Jesu, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ẹni tí Jesu fẹ́ràn.
One of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at His side.
24 Nítorí náà ni Simoni Peteru ṣàpẹẹrẹ sí i, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Wí fún wa ti ẹni tí o ń sọ.”
So Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus which one He was talking about.
25 Ẹni tí ó ń rọ̀gún ní àyà Jesu wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, ta ni í ṣe?”
Leaning back against Jesus, he asked, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Nítorí náà Jesu dáhùn pé, “Òun náà ni, ẹni tí mo bá fi àkàrà fún nígbà tí mo bá fi run àwo.” Nígbà tí ó sì fi run ún tan, ó fi fún Judasi Iskariotu ọmọ Simoni.
Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this morsel after I have dipped it.” Then He dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.
27 Ní kété tí Judasi gba àkàrà náà ni Satani wọ inú rẹ̀ lọ. Nítorí náà Jesu wí fún un pé, “Ohun tí ìwọ ń ṣe nì, yára ṣe é kánkán.”
And when Judas had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”
28 Kò sì sí ẹnìkan níbi tábìlì tí ó mọ ìdí tí ó ṣe sọ èyí fún un.
But no one at the table knew why Jesus had said this to him.
29 Nítorí àwọn mìíràn nínú wọn rò pé, nítorí Judasi ni ó ni àpò, ni Jesu fi wí fún un pé, ra nǹkan wọ̀n-ọn-nì tí a kò le ṣe aláìní fún àjọ náà; tàbí kí ó lè fi nǹkan fún àwọn tálákà.
Since Judas kept the money bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor.
30 Nígbà tí ó sì ti gbà òkèlè náà tan, ó jáde lójúkan náà àkókò náà si jẹ òru.
As soon as he had received the morsel, Judas went out into the night.
31 Nítorí náà nígbà tí ó jáde lọ tan, Jesu wí pé, “Nísinsin yìí ni a yin Ọmọ Ènìyàn lógo, a sì yin Ọlọ́run lógo nínú rẹ̀.
When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.
32 Bí a bá yin Ọlọ́run lógo nínú rẹ̀, Ọlọ́run yóò sì yìn ín lógo nínú òun tìkára rẹ̀, yóò sì yìn ín lógo nísinsin yìí.
If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in Himself—and will glorify Him at once.
33 “Ẹ̀yin ọmọ mi, nígbà díẹ̀ sí i ni èmi wà pẹ̀lú yín. Ẹ̀yin yóò wá mi, àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo ti wí fún àwọn Júù pé, níbi tí èmi gbé ń lọ, ẹ̀yin kì yóò le wà; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo sì wí fún yín nísinsin yìí.
Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
34 “Òfin tuntun kan ni mo fi fún yín, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó fẹ́ ọmọnìkejì yín; gẹ́gẹ́ bí èmi ti fẹ́ràn yín, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó sì fẹ́ràn ọmọnìkejì yín.
A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another.
35 Nípa èyí ni gbogbo ènìyàn yóò fi mọ̀ pé, ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mi ni ẹ̀yin ń ṣe, nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá ní ìfẹ́ sí ọmọ ẹnìkejì yín.”
By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
36 Simoni Peteru wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, níbo ni ìwọ ń lọ?” Jesu dá a lóhùn pé, “Níbi tí èmi ń lọ, ìwọ kì yóò lè tẹ̀lé mí nísinsin yìí; ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ yóò tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn ní ìkẹyìn.”
“Lord, where are You going?” Simon Peter asked. Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.”
37 Peteru wí fún un pé, “Olúwa èéṣe tí èmi kò fi le tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́hìn nísinsin yìí? Èmi ó fi ẹ̀mí mi lélẹ̀ nítorí rẹ.”
“Lord,” said Peter, “why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You.”
38 Jesu dalóhùn wí pé, “Ìwọ ó ha fi ẹ̀mí rẹ lélẹ̀ nítorí mi? Lóòótọ́ lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún ọ, àkùkọ kì yóò kọ, kí ìwọ kí ó tó ṣẹ́ mi nígbà mẹ́ta!
“Will you lay down your life for Me?” Jesus replied. “Truly, truly, I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.
