< John 12 >
1 Nítorí náà, nígbà tí àjọ ìrékọjá ku ọjọ́ mẹ́fà, Jesu wá sí Betani, níbi tí Lasaru wà, ẹni tí ó ti kú, tí Jesu jí dìde kúrò nínú òkú.
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had made to come back from the dead.
2 Wọ́n sì ṣe àsè alẹ́ fún un níbẹ̀. Marta sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n Lasaru jẹ́ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn tí ó jókòó níbi tábìlì rẹ̀.
So they made him a meal there, and he was waited on by Martha, and Lazarus was among those who were seated with him at table.
3 Nígbà náà ni Maria mú òróró ìkunra nadi, òsùwọ̀n lita kan, àìlábùlà, olówó iyebíye, ó sì ń fi kun Jesu ní ẹsẹ̀, ó sì ń fi irun orí rẹ̀ nu ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ nù. Ilé sì kún fún òórùn ìkunra náà.
Then Mary, taking a pound of perfumed oil of great value, put it on the feet of Jesus and made them dry with her hair: and the house became full of the smell of the perfume.
4 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, Judasi Iskariotu, ọmọ Simoni ẹni tí yóò fi í hàn, wí pé,
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot (who was to give him up), said,
5 “Èéṣe tí a kò ta òróró ìkunra yìí ní ọ̀ọ́dúnrún owó idẹ kí a sì fi fún àwọn tálákà?”
Why was not this perfume traded for three hundred pence, and the money given to the poor?
6 Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí èyí, kì í ṣe nítorí tí ó náání àwọn tálákà; ṣùgbọ́n nítorí tí ó jẹ́ olè, òun ni ó ni àpò, a sì máa jí ohun tí a fi sínú rẹ̀ láti fi ran ara rẹ lọ́wọ́.
(He said this, not because he had any love for the poor; but because he was a thief, and, having the money-bag, took for himself what was put into it.)
7 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí pé, “Ẹ fi í sílẹ̀, ó ṣe é sílẹ̀ de ọjọ́ ìsìnkú mi.
Then Jesus said, Let her be. Let her keep what she has for the day of my death.
8 Nígbà gbogbo ni ẹ̀yin sá à ní tálákà pẹ̀lú yín; ṣùgbọ́n èmi ni ẹ kò ní nígbà gbogbo.”
The poor you have ever with you, but me you have not for ever.
9 Nítorí náà, ìjọ ènìyàn nínú àwọn Júù ni ó mọ̀ pé ó wà níbẹ̀; wọ́n sì wá, kì í ṣe nítorí Jesu nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n kí wọn lè rí Lasaru pẹ̀lú, ẹni tí ó ti jí dìde kúrò nínú òkú.
Then a great number of the Jews had news that he was there: and they came, not only because of Jesus, but so that they might see Lazarus who had been dead and to whom he had given life.
10 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn olórí àlùfáà gbìmọ̀ kí wọn lè pa Lasaru pẹ̀lú,
Now there was talk among the chief priests of putting Lazarus to death;
11 nítorí pé nípasẹ̀ rẹ̀ ni ọ̀pọ̀ nínú àwọn Júù jáde lọ, wọ́n sì gbà Jesu gbọ́.
For because of him a great number of the Jews went away and had belief in Jesus.
12 Ní ọjọ́ kejì nígbà tí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn tí ó wá sí àjọ gbọ́ pé, Jesu ń bọ̀ wá sí Jerusalẹmu.
The day after, a great number of people who were there for the feast, when they had the news that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Wọ́n mú imọ̀ ọ̀pẹ, wọ́n sì jáde lọ pàdé rẹ̀, wọ́n sì ń kígbe pé, “Hosana!” “Olùbùkún ni ẹni tí ń bọ̀ wá ní orúkọ Olúwa!” “Olùbùkún ni ọba Israẹli!”
Took branches of palm-trees and went out to him, crying, A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!
14 Nígbà tí Jesu sì rí ọmọ kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ kan, ó gùn ún; gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ̀wé pé,
And Jesus saw a young ass and took his seat on it; as the Writings say,
15 “Má bẹ̀rù, ọmọbìnrin Sioni; wò ó, ọba rẹ ń bọ̀ wá, o jókòó lórí ọmọ kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́.”
Have no fear, daughter of Zion: see your King is coming, seated on a young ass.
16 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí kò tètè yé àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí a ṣe Jesu lógo, nígbà náà ni wọ́n rántí pé, a kọ̀wé nǹkan wọ̀nyí nípa rẹ̀ sí i.
(These things were not clear to his disciples at first: but when Jesus had been lifted up into his glory, then it came to their minds that these things in the Writings were about him and that they had been done to him.)
17 Nítorí náà, ìjọ ènìyàn tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ nígbà tí o pé Lasaru jáde nínú ibojì rẹ̀, tí ó sì jí i dìde kúrò nínú òkú, jẹ́rìí sí i.
Now the people who were with him when his voice came to Lazarus in the place of the dead, and gave him life again, had been talking about it.
18 Nítorí èyí ni ìjọ ènìyàn sì ṣe lọ pàdé rẹ̀, nítorí tí wọ́n gbọ́ pé ó ti ṣe iṣẹ́ àmì yìí.
And that was the reason the people went out to him, because it had come to their ears that he had done this sign.
19 Nítorí náà àwọn Farisi wí fún ara wọn pé, “Ẹ kíyèsi bí ẹ kò ti lè borí ní ohunkóhun? Ẹ wo bí gbogbo ayé ti ń wọ́ tọ̀ ọ́!”
Then the Pharisees said one to another, You see, you are unable to do anything: the world has gone after him.
20 Àwọn Giriki kan sì wà nínú àwọn tí ó gòkè wá láti sìn nígbà àjọ,
Now there were some Greeks among the people who had come up to give worship at the feast:
21 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ó tọ Filipi wá, ẹni tí í ṣe ará Betisaida tí Galili, wọ́n sì ń béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀, pé, “Alàgbà, àwa ń fẹ́ rí Jesu!”
They came to Philip, who was of Beth-saida in Galilee, and made a request, saying, Sir, we have a desire to see Jesus.
22 Filipi wá, ó sì sọ fún Anderu; Anderu àti Filipi wá, wọ́n sì sọ fún Jesu.
Philip went and gave word of it to Andrew; and Andrew went with Philip to Jesus.
23 Jesu sì dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Wákàtí náà dé, tí a ó ṣe Ọmọ Ènìyàn lógo.
And Jesus said to them in answer, The hour of the glory of the Son of man has come.
24 Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, bí kò ṣe pé alikama bá bọ́ sí ilẹ̀, tí ó bá sì kú, ó wà ní òun nìkan; ṣùgbọ́n bí ó bá kú, yóò sì so ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ èso.
Truly I say to you, If a seed of grain does not go into the earth and come to an end, it is still a seed and no more; but through its death it gives much fruit.
25 Ẹni tí ó bá fẹ́ ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ yóò sọ ọ́ nù; ẹni tí ó bá sì kórìíra ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ láyé yìí ni yóò sì pa á mọ́ títí ó fi di ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun. (aiōnios )
He who is in love with life will have it taken from him; and he who has no care for his life in this world will keep it for ever and ever. (aiōnios )
26 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá ń sìn mí, kí ó máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn, àti pe níbi tí èmi bá wà, níbẹ̀ ni ìránṣẹ́ mi yóò wà pẹ̀lú, bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá ń sìn mí, òun ni Baba yóò bu ọlá fún.
If any man is my servant, let him come after me; and where I am, there will my servant be. If any man becomes my servant, my Father will give him honour.
Now is my soul troubled; and what am I to say? Father, keep me from this hour. No: for this purpose have I come to this hour.
28 Baba, ṣe orúkọ rẹ lógo!” Nígbà náà ni ohùn kan ti ọ̀run wá, wí pé, “Èmi ti ṣe é lógo!”
Father, give glory to your name. Then there came a voice out of heaven, saying, I have given it glory, and I will give it glory again.
29 Nítorí náà ìjọ ènìyàn tí ó dúró níbẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì gbọ́ ọ, wí pé, “Àrá ń sán.” Àwọn ẹlòmíràn wí pé, “Angẹli kan ni ó ń bá a sọ̀rọ̀.”
Hearing the sound, a number of people who were there said that it was thunder: others said, An angel was talking to him.
30 Jesu sì dáhùn wí pé, “Kì í ṣe nítorí mi ni ohùn yìí ṣe wá, bí kò ṣe nítorí yín.
Jesus said in answer, This voice came not for me but for you.
31 Ní ìsinsin yìí ni ìdájọ́ ayé yìí dé: nísinsin yìí ni a ó lé aládé ayé yìí jáde.
Now is this world to be judged: now will the ruler of this world be sent out.
32 Àti èmi, bí a bá gbé mi sókè kúrò ní ayé, èmi ó fa gbogbo ènìyàn sọ́dọ̀ ara mi!”
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will make all men come to me.
33 Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí èyí, ó ń ṣe àpẹẹrẹ irú ikú tí òun yóò kú.
(This he said, pointing to the sort of death he would have.)
34 Nítorí náà àwọn ìjọ ènìyàn dá a lóhùn pé, “Àwa gbọ́ nínú òfin pé, Kristi wà títí láéláé, ìwọ ha ṣe wí pé, ‘A ó gbé Ọmọ Ènìyàn sókè’? Ta ni ó ń jẹ́ ‘Ọmọ Ènìyàn yìí’?” (aiōn )
Then the people in answer said to him, The law says that the Christ will have life without end: how say you then that it is necessary for the Son of man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? (aiōn )
35 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Nígbà díẹ̀ sí i ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ wà láàrín yín, ẹ máa rìn nígbà tí ẹ̀yin ní ìmọ́lẹ̀, kí òkùnkùn má ṣe bá yín, ẹni tí ó bá sì ń rìn ní òkùnkùn kò mọ ibi òun ń lọ.
Jesus said to them, For a little time longer the light will be among you; while you have the light go on walking in it, so that the dark may not overtake you: one walking in the dark has no knowledge of where he is going.
36 Nígbà tí ẹ̀yin ní ìmọ́lẹ̀, ẹ gba ìmọ́lẹ̀ gbọ́, kí ẹ lè jẹ́ ọmọ ìmọ́lẹ̀!” Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Jesu sọ, ó sì jáde lọ, ó fi ara pamọ́ fún wọn.
In so far as you have the light, put your faith in the light so that you may become sons of light. With these words Jesus went away and for a time was not seen again by them.
37 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ó ti ṣe ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ iṣẹ́ àmì tó báyìí lójú wọn, wọn kò gbà á gbọ́.
But though he had done such a number of signs before them, they still had no belief in him:
38 Kí ọ̀rọ̀ wòlíì Isaiah lè ṣẹ, èyí tí ó sọ pé, “Olúwa, ta ni ó gba ìwàásù wa gbọ́ Àti ta ni a sì fi apá Olúwa hàn fún?”
So that the words of the prophet Isaiah might come true, when he said, Lord, who has any belief in our preaching? and the arm of the Lord, to whom has it been unveiled?
39 Nítorí èyí ni wọn kò fi lè gbàgbọ́, nítorí Isaiah sì tún sọ pé,
For this reason they were unable to have belief, because Isaiah said again,
40 “Ó ti fọ́ wọn lójú, Ó sì ti sé àyà wọn le; kí wọn má ba à fi ojú wọn rí, kí wọn má ba à fi ọkàn wọn mọ̀, kí wọn má ba à yípadà, kí èmi má ba à mú wọn láradá.”
He has made their eyes blind, and their hearts hard; for fear that they might see with their eyes and get knowledge with their hearts, and be changed, and I might make them well.
41 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Isaiah wí, nítorí ó ti rí ògo rẹ̀, ó sì sọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀.
(Isaiah said these words because he saw his glory. His words were about him.)
42 Síbẹ̀ ọ̀pọ̀ nínú àwọn olórí gbà á gbọ́ pẹ̀lú; ṣùgbọ́n nítorí àwọn Farisi wọn kò jẹ́wọ́ rẹ̀, kí a má ba à yọ wọ́n kúrò nínú Sinagọgu,
However, a number even of the rulers had belief in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not say so openly for fear that they might be shut out from the Synagogue:
43 nítorí wọ́n fẹ́ ìyìn ènìyàn ju ìyìn ti Ọlọ́run lọ.
For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God.
44 Jesu sì kígbe ó sì wí pé, “Ẹni tí ó bá gbà mí gbọ́, èmi kọ́ ni ó gbàgbọ́ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó rán mi.
Then Jesus said with a loud voice, He who has faith in me, has faith not in me, but in him who sent me.
45 Ẹni tí ó bá sì rí mi, ó rí ẹni tí ó rán mi.
And he who sees me, sees him who sent me.
46 Èmi ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ tí ó wá sí ayé, kí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbà mí gbọ́ má ṣe wà nínú òkùnkùn.
I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who has faith in me will go on living in the dark.
47 “Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi, tí kò sì pa wọ́n mọ́, èmi kì yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ rẹ̀ nítorí tí èmi kò wá láti ṣe ìdájọ́ ayé, bí kò ṣe láti gba ayé là.
And if any man gives ear to my words and does not keep them, I am not his judge: I did not come to be judge of the world but to give salvation to the world.
48 Ẹni tí ó bá kọ̀ mí, tí kò sì gba ọ̀rọ̀ mi, ó ní ẹnìkan tí ń ṣe ìdájọ́ rẹ̀; ọ̀rọ̀ tí mo ti sọ, òun náà ni yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ rẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ ìkẹyìn.
He who puts me on one side and does not take my words to heart, is not without a judge: the word which I have said will be his judge on the last day.
49 Nítorí èmi kò dá ọ̀rọ̀ sọ fún ara mi, ṣùgbọ́n Baba tí ó rán mi, ni ó ti fún mi ní àṣẹ, ohun tí èmi ó sọ, àti èyí tí èmi ó wí.
For I have not said it on my authority, but the Father who sent me gave me orders what to say and how to say it.
50 Èmi sì mọ̀ pé ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun ni òfin rẹ̀, nítorí náà, àwọn ohun tí mo bá wí, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba ti sọ fún mi, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo wí!” (aiōnios )
And I have knowledge that his order is eternal life: so that the things which I say, I say them even as the Father says them to me. (aiōnios )
