< John 10 >

1 “Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ẹni tí kò bá gba ẹnu-ọ̀nà wọ inú agbo àgùntàn, ṣùgbọ́n tí ó bá gba ibòmíràn gun òkè, òun náà ni olè àti ọlọ́ṣà.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't come in through the gate of the sheepfold but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber.
2 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó bá ti ẹnu-ọ̀nà wọlé, Òun ni olùṣọ́ àwọn àgùntàn.
The one who comes in through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 Òun ni aṣọ́nà yóò ṣílẹ̀kùn fún; àwọn àgùntàn gbọ́ ohùn rẹ̀, ó sì pe àwọn àgùntàn tirẹ̀ lórúkọ, ó sì ṣe amọ̀nà wọn jáde.
The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep respond to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
4 Nígbà tí ó bá sì ti mú àwọn àgùntàn tirẹ̀ jáde, yóò síwájú wọn, àwọn àgùntàn yóò sì máa tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn, nítorí tí wọ́n mọ ohùn rẹ̀.
After bringing them out, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.
5 Wọn kò jẹ́ tọ àlejò lẹ́yìn, ṣùgbọ́n wọn a sá kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, nítorí tí wọn kò mọ ohùn àlejò.”
They won't follow strangers. In fact they run away from a stranger because they don't recognize the voice of strangers.”
6 Òwe yìí ni Jesu pa fún wọn, ṣùgbọ́n òye ohun tí nǹkan wọ̀nyí tí ó ń sọ fún wọn kò yé wọn.
When Jesus gave this illustration those who were listening to him didn't understand what he meant.
7 Nítorí náà Jesu tún wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, Èmi ni ìlẹ̀kùn àwọn àgùntàn.
So Jesus explained again, “I tell you the truth: I am the gate of the sheepfold.
8 Olè àti ọlọ́ṣà ni gbogbo àwọn tí ó ti wà ṣáájú mi, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn àgùntàn kò gbọ́ tiwọn.
All those who came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't listen to them.
9 Èmi ni ìlẹ̀kùn, bí ẹnìkan bá bá ọ̀dọ̀ mi wọlé, òun ni a ó gbàlà, yóò wọlé, yóò sì jáde, yóò sì rí koríko.
I am the gate. Anyone who comes in through me will be healed. They will be able to come and go, and find the food they need.
10 Olè kì í wá bí kò ṣe láti jalè, láti pa, àti láti parun; èmi wá kí wọn lè ní ìyè, àní kí wọn lè ní i lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀.
The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I've come to bring you life, life full to overflowing.
11 “Èmi ni olùṣọ́-àgùntàn rere, olùṣọ́-àgùntàn rere fi ọkàn rẹ̀ lélẹ̀ nítorí àwọn àgùntàn.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 Ṣùgbọ́n alágbàṣe, tí kì í ṣe olùṣọ́-àgùntàn, ẹni tí àwọn àgùntàn kì í ṣe tirẹ̀, ó rí ìkookò ń bọ̀, ó sì fi àgùntàn sílẹ̀, ó sì fọ́n wọn ká kiri.
The man paid to look after the sheep is not the shepherd and he runs away when he sees the wolf coming. He abandons the sheep because they're not his, and the wolf attacks and scatters the flock
13 Òun sálọ nítorí tí ó jẹ́ alágbàṣe, kò sì náání àwọn àgùntàn.
for the man is only working for pay and doesn't care about the sheep.
14 “Èmi ni olùṣọ́-àgùntàn rere, mo sì mọ àwọn tèmi, àwọn tèmi sì mọ̀ mí.
I am the good shepherd. I know who are mine, and they know me,
15 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba ti mọ̀ mí, tí èmi sì mọ Baba, mo sì fi ọkàn mi lélẹ̀ nítorí àwọn àgùntàn.
just as the Father knows me and I know him. I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 Èmi sì ní àwọn àgùntàn mìíràn, tí kì í ṣe agbo yìí: àwọn ni èmi yóò mú wá pẹ̀lú, wọn yóò sì gbọ́ ohùn mi; wọn ó sì jẹ́ agbo kan, olùṣọ́-àgùntàn kan.
I have other sheep that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them too. They will listen to my voice and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
17 Nítorí náà ni Baba mi ṣe fẹ́ràn mi, nítorí tí mo fi ẹ̀mí mi lélẹ̀, kí èmi lè tún gbà á.
This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so I may take it up again.
18 Ẹnìkan kò gbà á lọ́wọ́ mi, ṣùgbọ́n mo fi í lélẹ̀, mo sì lágbára láti tún gbà á. Àṣẹ yìí ni mo ti gbà wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ Baba mi.”
No one takes it from me; I choose to lay it down. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is the command my Father gave me.”
19 Nítorí náà ìyapa tún wà láàrín àwọn Júù nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí.
The Jews were again divided in their opinion about Jesus over these words.
20 Ọ̀pọ̀ nínú wọn sì wí pé, “Ó ní ẹ̀mí èṣù, orí rẹ̀ sì dàrú; èéṣe tí ẹ̀yin fi ń gbọ́rọ̀ rẹ̀?”
Many of them said, “He's demon-possessed! He's mad! Why are you listening to him?”
21 Àwọn mìíràn wí pé, “Ìwọ̀nyí kì í ṣe ọ̀rọ̀ ẹni tí ó ní ẹ̀mí èṣù. Ẹ̀mí èṣù lè la ojú àwọn afọ́jú bí?”
Others said, “These aren't the words of someone who's demon-possessed. Besides, a demon can't open eyes that are blind.”
22 Àkókò náà sì jẹ́ àjọ̀dún ìyàsímímọ́ ní Jerusalẹmu, ni ìgbà òtútù.
It was winter, and the time of the Festival of Dedication in Jerusalem.
23 Jesu sì ń rìn ní tẹmpili, ní ìloro Solomoni.
Jesus was walking in the Temple through Solomon's porch. The Jews surrounded him, asking,
24 Nítorí náà àwọn Júù wá dúró yí i ká, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ó ti mú wa ṣe iyèméjì pẹ́ tó? Bí ìwọ bá ni Kristi náà, wí fún wa gbangba.”
“How long are you going to keep us hanging in suspense? If you are the Messiah then tell us plainly!”
25 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Èmi ti wí fún yín, ẹ̀yin kò sì gbàgbọ́; iṣẹ́ tí èmi ń ṣe lórúkọ Baba mi, àwọn ni ó ń jẹ́rìí mi.
Jesus replied, “I already told you but you refuse to believe it. The miracles I do in my Father's name prove who I am.
26 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kò gbàgbọ́, nítorí ẹ̀yin kò sí nínú àwọn àgùntàn mi, gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo tí wí fún yín.
You don't believe me because you are not my sheep.
27 Àwọn àgùntàn mi ń gbọ́ ohùn mi, èmi sì mọ̀ wọ́n, wọn a sì máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn.
My sheep recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 Èmi sì fún wọn ní ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun; wọn kì yóò sì ṣègbé láéláé, kò sí ẹni tí ó lè já wọn gbà kúrò lọ́wọ́ mi. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
I give them eternal life; they shall never be lost, and no one can snatch them from me. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
29 Baba mi, ẹni tí ó fi wọ́n fún mi pọ̀ ju gbogbo wọn lọ; kò sì ṣí ẹni tí ó lè já wọn gbà kúrò lọ́wọ́ Baba mi.
My Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone else; no one can snatch them from him.
30 Ọ̀kan ni èmi àti Baba mi.”
I and the Father are one.”
31 Àwọn Júù sì tún mú òkúta, láti sọ lù ú.
Once again the Jews picked up stones to stone him.
32 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ iṣẹ́ rere ni mo fihàn yín láti ọ̀dọ̀ Baba mi wá, nítorí èwo nínú iṣẹ́ wọ̀nyí ni ẹ̀yin ṣe sọ mí ní òkúta?”
Jesus said to them, “You've seen many good deeds that I've done from the Father. Which one are you stoning me for?”
33 Àwọn Júù sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Àwa kò sọ ọ́ lókùúta nítorí iṣẹ́ rere, ṣùgbọ́n nítorí ọ̀rọ̀-òdì, àti nítorí ìwọ tí í ṣe ènìyàn ń fi ara rẹ pe Ọlọ́run.”
The Jews replied, “We're not stoning you for a good deed, but for blasphemy because you are just a man but you're claiming to be God.”
34 Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “A kò ha tí kọ ọ́ nínú òfin yín pé, ‘Mo ti wí pé, Ọlọ́run ni ẹ̀yin jẹ́’?
Jesus answered them, “Isn't it written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods’?
35 Bí ó bá pè wọ́n ní ‘ọlọ́run,’ àwọn ẹni tí a fi ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run fún, a kò sì lè ba ìwé mímọ́ jẹ́.
He called those people ‘gods,’ the people to whom the word of God came—and Scripture can't be altered.
36 Kín ni ẹyin ha ń wí ní ti ẹni tí Baba yà sọ́tọ̀, tí ó sì rán sí ayé kín lo de ti ẹ fi ẹ̀sùn kàn mi pé mò ń sọ̀rọ̀-òdì nítorí pé mo sọ pé, ‘Èmi ni Ọmọ Ọlọ́run.’
So why are you saying the one whom the Father set apart and sent into the world is blaspheming because I said ‘I am the Son of God’?
37 Bí èmi kò bá ṣe iṣẹ́ Baba mi, ẹ má ṣe gbà mí gbọ́.
If I'm not doing what my Father does, then don't believe me.
38 Ṣùgbọ́n bí èmi bá ṣe wọ́n, bí ẹ̀yin kò tilẹ̀ gbà mí gbọ́, ẹ gbà iṣẹ́ náà gbọ́, kí ẹ̀yin ba à lè mọ̀, kí ó sì lè yé yín pé, Baba wà nínú mi, èmi sì wà nínú rẹ̀.”
But if that is what I'm doing, even though you don't believe me, you should believe because of the evidence of what I've done. That way you can know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.”
39 Wọ́n sì tún ń wá ọ̀nà láti mú un: ó sì bọ́ lọ́wọ́ wọn.
Once again they tried to arrest him, but he escaped from them.
40 Ó sì tún kọjá lọ sí apá kejì Jordani sí ibi tí Johanu ti kọ́kọ́ ń bamitiisi; níbẹ̀ ni ó sì jókòó.
He went back across the Jordan River to the place where John had begun baptizing, and he stayed there.
41 Àwọn ènìyàn púpọ̀ sì wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Johanu kò ṣe iṣẹ́ àmì kan, Ṣùgbọ́n òtítọ́ ni ohun gbogbo tí Johanu sọ nípa ti ọkùnrin yìí.”
Many people came to him, and they said, “John didn't perform miracles, but everything he said about this man has come true.”
42 Àwọn ènìyàn púpọ̀ níbẹ̀ sì gbà á gbọ́.
Many who were there put their trust in Jesus.
