< Joel 1 >
1 Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí ó tọ Joẹli ọmọ Petueli wá.
The word of Jehovah that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel.
2 Ẹ gbọ́ èyí ẹ̀yin àgbàgbà; ẹ fi etí sílẹ̀ gbogbo ẹ̀yin ènìyàn ará ilẹ̀ náà. Ǹjẹ́ irú èyí ha wà ní ọjọ́ yín, tàbí ní ọjọ́ àwọn baba yín?
Hear this, you elders, And listen, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
3 Ẹ sọ ọ́ fún àwọn ọmọ yín, ki àwọn ọmọ yín sọ fún àwọn ọmọ wọn, ki àwọn ọmọ wọn sọ fún àwọn ìran mìíràn.
Tell your children about it, and have your children tell their children, and their children, another generation.
4 Èyí tí eṣú tí agénijẹ jẹ kù ní ọ̀wọ́ eṣú ńlá ńlá ti jẹ, èyí tí ọ̀wọ́ eṣú ńlá ńlá jẹ kù ní eṣú kéékèèké jẹ, èyí tí eṣú kéékèèké jẹ kù ni eṣú apanirun mìíràn jẹ.
What the swarming locust has left, the great locust has eaten. What the great locust has left, the grasshopper has eaten. What the grasshopper has left, the caterpillar has eaten.
5 Ẹ jí gbogbo ẹ̀yin ọ̀mùtí kí ẹ sì sọkún ẹ hu gbogbo ẹ̀yin ọ̀mu-wáìnì; ẹ hu nítorí wáìnì tuntun nítorí a gbà á kúrò lẹ́nu yín.
Wake up, you drunkards, and weep. Wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
6 Nítorí orílẹ̀-èdè kan ti ṣígun sí ilẹ̀ mìíràn ó ní agbára púpọ̀, kò sì ní òǹkà; ó ní eyín kìnnìún ó sì ní èrìgì abo kìnnìún.
For a nation has come up on my land, strong, and without number. His teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the fangs of a lioness.
7 Ó ti pa àjàrà mi run, ó sì ti ya ẹ̀ka igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ mi kúrò, ó ti bò èèpo rẹ̀ jálẹ̀, ó sì sọ ọ́ nù; àwọn ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ ni a sì sọ di funfun.
He has laid my vine waste, and stripped my fig tree. He has stripped its bark, and thrown it away. Its branches are made white.
8 Ẹ pohùnréré ẹkún bí wúńdíá tí a fi aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ dí ni àmùrè, nítorí ọkọ ìgbà èwe rẹ̀.
Mourn like a virgin dressed in sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9 A ké ọrẹ jíjẹ́ àti ọrẹ mímu kúrò ní ilé Olúwa. Àwọn àlùfáà ń ṣọ̀fọ̀, àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa.
The meal offering and the drink offering are cut off from Jehovah's house. The priests, Jehovah's ministers, mourn.
10 Oko di ìgboro, ilẹ̀ ń ṣọ̀fọ̀, nítorí a fi ọkà ṣòfò: ọtí wáìnì tuntun gbẹ, òróró ń bùṣe.
The field is laid waste. The land mourns, for the grain is destroyed, The new wine has dried up, and the oil languishes.
11 Kí ojú kí ó tì yín, ẹ̀yin àgbẹ̀; ẹ pohùnréré ẹkún ẹ̀yin olùtọ́jú àjàrà, nítorí alikama àti nítorí ọkà barle; nítorí ìkórè oko ṣègbé.
Be confounded, you farmers. Wail, you vineyard keepers; for the wheat and for the barley; for the harvest of the field has perished.
12 Àjàrà gbẹ, igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ sì rọ̀ dànù; igi pomegiranate, igi ọ̀pẹ pẹ̀lú, àti igi apiili, gbogbo igi igbó ni o rọ. Nítorí náà ayọ̀ ọmọ ènìyàn gbẹ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn.
The vine has dried up, and the fig tree withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all of the trees of the field are withered; for joy has withered away from the sons of men.
13 Ẹ di ara yín ni àmùrè, sí pohùnréré ẹkún ẹ̀yin àlùfáà: ẹ pohùnréré ẹkún, ẹ̀yin ìránṣẹ́ pẹpẹ: ẹ wá, fi gbogbo òru dùbúlẹ̀ nínú aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, ẹ̀yin ìránṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run mi, nítorí tí a dá ọrẹ-jíjẹ àti ọrẹ mímu dúró ní ilé Ọlọ́run yín.
Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests. Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God, for the meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from your God's house.
14 Ẹ yà àwẹ̀ kan sí mímọ́, ẹ pe àjọ kan tí o ní ìrònú, ẹ pe àwọn àgbàgbà, àti gbogbo àwọn ará ilẹ̀ náà jọ sí ilé Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, kí ẹ sí ké pe Olúwa.
Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Jehovah, your God, and cry to Jehovah.
15 A! Fún ọjọ́ náà, nítorí ọjọ́ Olúwa kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀, yóò de bí ìparun láti ọwọ́ Olódùmarè.
Alas for the day. For the day of Jehovah is at hand, and it will come as destruction from Shaddai.
16 A kò ha ké oúnjẹ kúrò níwájú ojú wá yìí, ayọ̀ àti inú dídùn kúrò nínú ilé Ọlọ́run wá?
Isn't the food cut off before our eyes; joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 Irúgbìn bàjẹ́ nínú ebè wọn, a sọ àká di ahoro, a wó àká palẹ̀; nítorí tí a mú ọkà rọ.
The seeds shrivel under their shovels. The storehouses are laid desolate. The granaries are broken down, for the grain has withered.
18 Àwọn ẹranko tí ń kérora tó! Àwọn agbo ẹran dààmú, nítorí tí wọ́n kò ni pápá oko; nítòótọ́, àwọn agbo àgùntàn jìyà.
How the animals groan. The herds of livestock are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep suffer.
19 Olúwa, sí ọ ni èmi o ké pè, nítorí iná tí run pápá oko tútù aginjù, ọwọ́ iná sí ti jó gbogbo igi igbó.
Jehovah, I cry to you, for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.
20 Àwọn ẹranko igbó gbé ojú sókè sí ọ pẹ̀lú, nítorí tí àwọn ìṣàn omi gbẹ, iná sí ti jó àwọn pápá oko aginjù run.
Yes, the animals of the field pant to you, for the water brooks have dried up, And the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
