< Job 38 >
1 Nígbà náà ní Olúwa dá Jobu lóhùn láti inú ìjì àjàyíká wá, ó sì wí pé,
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2 “Ta ni èyí tí ń fi ọ̀rọ̀ àìlóye láti fi ṣókùnkùn bo ìmọ̀ mi?
Who [is] this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Di ẹ̀gbẹ́ ara rẹ ní àmùrè bí ọkùnrin nísinsin yìí, nítorí pé èmi yóò béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ kí o sì dá mi lóhùn.
Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
4 “Níbo ni ìwọ wà nígbà tí mo fi ìpìlẹ̀ ayé sọlẹ̀? Wí bí ìwọ bá mòye.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
5 Ta ni ó fi ìwọ̀n rẹ lélẹ̀, dájú bí ìwọ bá mọ̀ ọ́n? Tàbí ta ni ó ta okùn wíwọ̀n sórí rẹ?
Who hath laid the measures of it, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Lórí ibo ni a gbé kan ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀ mọ́, tàbí ta ni ó fi òkúta igun rẹ̀ lélẹ̀,
Upon what are the foundations of it fastened? or who laid its corner stone;
7 nígbà náà àwọn ìràwọ̀ òwúrọ̀ jùmọ̀ kọrin pọ̀, tí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run hó ìhó ayọ̀?
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 “Tàbí ta ni ó fi ìlẹ̀kùn sé omi òkun mọ́, nígbà tí ó ya padà bí ẹni pé ó ti inú jáde wá.
Or [who] shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, [as if] it had issued out of the womb?
9 Nígbà tí mo fi àwọsánmọ̀ ṣe aṣọ rẹ̀, tí mo sì fi òkùnkùn biribiri ṣe ọ̀já ìgbà inú rẹ̀.
When I made a cloud its garment, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it,
10 Nígbà tí mo ti pàṣẹ ìpinnu mi fún un, tí mo sì ṣe bèbè àti ìlẹ̀kùn.
And broke up for it my decreed [place], and set bars and doors,
11 Tí mo sì wí pé níhìn-ín ni ìwọ ó dé, kí o má sì rékọjá, níhìn-ín sì ni ìgbéraga rẹ yóò gbé dúró mọ?
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed.
12 “Ìwọ pàṣẹ fún òwúrọ̀ láti ìgbà ọjọ́ rẹ̀ wá, ìwọ sì mú ìlà-oòrùn mọ ipò rẹ̀,
Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; [and] caused the day-spring to know its place;
13 í ó lè di òpin ilẹ̀ ayé mú, ki a lè gbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn búburú kúrò nínú rẹ̀?
That it might take hold of the ends of earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
14 Kí ó yí padà bí amọ̀ fún èdìdì amọ̀, kí gbogbo rẹ̀ kí ó sì fi ara rẹ̀ hàn bí ẹni pé nínú aṣọ ìgúnwà.
It is turned as clay [to] the seal; and they stand as a garment.
15 A sì fa ìmọ́lẹ̀ wọn sẹ́yìn kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn búburú, apá gíga ni a sì ṣẹ́.
And from the wicked their light is withheld, and the high arm shall be broken.
16 “Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìsun òkun lọ rí bí? Ìwọ sì rìn lórí ìsàlẹ̀ ibú ńlá?
Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
17 A ha ṣílẹ̀kùn ikú sílẹ̀ fún ọ rí bí, ìwọ sì rí ìlẹ̀kùn òjìji òkú?
Have the gates of death been opened to thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shades of death?
18 Ìwọ mòye ìbú ayé bí? Sọ bí ìwọ bá mọ gbogbo èyí.
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
19 “Ọ̀nà wo ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ ń gbé? Bí ó ṣe ti òkùnkùn, níbo ni ipò rẹ̀,
Where [is] the way [where] light dwelleth? and [as for] darkness, where [is] its place,
20 tí ìwọ í fi mú un lọ sí ibi àlá rẹ̀, tí ìwọ ó sì le mọ ipa ọ̀nà lọ sínú ilé rẹ̀?
That thou shouldest take it to its bound, and that thou shouldest know the paths [to] its house?
21 Ìwọ mọ èyí, nítorí nígbà náà ni a bí ọ? Iye ọjọ́ rẹ sì pọ̀.
Knowest thou [it], because thou wast then born? or [because] the number of thy days [is] great?
22 “Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìṣúra ìdì òjò lọ rí bí, ìwọ sì rí ilé ìṣúra yìnyín rí,
Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
23 tí mo ti fi pamọ́ de ìgbà ìyọnu, dé ọjọ́ ogun àti ìjà?
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
24 Ọ̀nà wo ni ó lọ sí ibi tí ìmọ́lẹ̀ fi ń la, tí afẹ́fẹ́ ìlà-oòrùn ń tàn káàkiri lórí ilẹ̀ ayé?
By what way is the light parted, [which] scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
25 Ta ni ó la ipadò fún ẹ̀kún omi, àti ọ̀nà fún mọ̀nàmọ́ná àrá,
Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
26 láti mú u rọ̀jò sórí ayé níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí, ní aginjù níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí;
To cause it to rain on the earth, [where] no man [is]; [on] the wilderness in which [there is] no man;
27 láti mú ilẹ̀ tútù, ijù àti aláìro láti mú àṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀yọ ewéko rú jáde?
To satisfy the desolate and waste [ground]; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
28 Òjò ha ní baba bí? Tàbí ta ni o bí ìkún ìṣe ìrì?
Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
29 Láti inú ta ni ìdì omi ti jáde wá? Ta ni ó bí ìrì dídì ọ̀run?
Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
30 Nígbà tí omi di líle bí òkúta, nígbà tí ojú ibú ńlá sì dìpọ̀.
The waters are hid as [with] a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31 “Ìwọ ha le fi ọ̀já de àwọn ìràwọ̀ Pleiadesi dáradára? Tàbí ìwọ le tún di ìràwọ̀ Orioni?
Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
32 Ìwọ le mú àwọn àmì méjìlá ìràwọ̀ Masaroti jáde wá nígbà àkókò wọn? Tàbí ìwọ le ṣe amọ̀nà Beari pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀?
Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in its season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with its sons?
33 Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ mọ ìlànà ọ̀run? Ìwọ le fi ìjọba Ọlọ́run lélẹ̀ lórí ayé?
Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set its dominion on the earth?
34 “Ìwọ le gbé ohùn rẹ sókè dé àwọsánmọ̀ kí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi kí ó lè bò ọ́?
Canst thou lift thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
35 Ìwọ le rán mọ̀nàmọ́ná kí wọn kí ó le lọ, ní ọ̀nà wọn kí wọn kí ó sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Àwa nìyí’?
Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say to thee, Here we [are]?
36 Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n pamọ́ sí odò ikùn tàbí tí ó fi òye sínú àyà?
Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
37 Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n ka iye àwọsánmọ̀? Ta ni ó sì mú ìgò ọ̀run dà jáde,
Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
38 nígbà tí erùpẹ̀ di líle, àti ògúlùtu dìpọ̀?
When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
39 “Ìwọ ha dẹ ọdẹ fún abo kìnnìún bí? Ìwọ ó sì tẹ ebi ẹgbọrọ kìnnìún lọ́rùn,
Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
40 nígbà tí wọ́n bá mọ́lẹ̀ nínú ihò tí wọ́n sì ba ní ibùba de ohun ọdẹ?
When they couch in [their] dens, [and] abide in the covert to lie in wait?
41 Ta ni ó ń pèsè ohun jíjẹ fún ẹyẹ ìwò, nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ rẹ ń ké pe Ọlọ́run, tí wọ́n sì máa ń fò kiri nítorí àìní ohun jíjẹ?
Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry to God, they wander for want of food.
