< Job 34 >

1 Nígbà náà ni Elihu dáhùn, ó sì wí pé,
After proclaiming these things, Eliu now had this to say:
2 “Ẹ̀yin ọlọ́gbọ́n ẹ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi, kí ẹ sì fi etí sílẹ̀ sí mi ẹ̀yin tí ẹ ní ìmòye.
May the wise hear my words, and may the educated listen to me.
3 Nítorí pé etí a máa dán ọ̀rọ̀ wò, bí adùn ẹnu ti ń tọ́ oúnjẹ wò.
For the ear examines words, and the mouth discerns foods by the taste.
4 Ẹ jẹ́ kí a mọ òye ohun tí o tọ́ fún ara wa; ẹ jẹ́ kí a mọ ohun tí ó dára láàrín wa.
Let us choose judgment for ourselves, and let us consider among ourselves what is best.
5 “Nítorí pé Jobu wí pé, ‘Aláìlẹ́ṣẹ̀ ni èmi; Ọlọ́run sì ti gba ìdájọ́ mi lọ.
For Job has said: “I am just, yet God has subverted my judgment.
6 Èmi ha purọ́ sí ẹ̀tọ́ mi bí, bí mo tilẹ̀ jẹ́ aláìjẹ̀bi, ọfà rẹ̀ kò ní àwòtán ọgbẹ́.’
For, within my judgment, there is a lie: my vehement barbs are without any sin.”
7 Ọkùnrin wo ni ó dàbí Jobu, tí ń mu ẹ̀gàn bí ẹní mú omi?
What man is there that is like Job, who drinks up derision as if it were water,
8 Tí ń bá àwọn oníṣẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ kẹ́gbẹ́ tí ó sì ń bá àwọn ènìyàn búburú rìn.
who accompanies those who work iniquity, and who walks with impious men?
9 Nítorí ó sá ti wí pé, ‘Èrè kan kò sí fún ènìyàn, tí yóò fi máa ṣe inú dídùn sí Ọlọ́run.’
For he has said, “Man will not please God, even if he should travel with him.”
10 “Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà, ẹ fetísílẹ̀ sí mi, ẹ fi etí sí mi ẹ̀yin ènìyàn amòye: Ó di èèwọ̀ fún Ọlọ́run ti ìbá fi hùwà búburú, àti fún Olódùmarè, tí yóò fi ṣe àìṣedéédéé!
Therefore, prudent men, hear me: impiety is far from God, and iniquity is far from the Almighty.
11 Nítorí pé ó ń sán fún ènìyàn fún gẹ́gẹ́ bi ohun tí a bá ṣe, yóò sì mú olúkúlùkù kí ó rí gẹ́gẹ́ bí ipa ọ̀nà rẹ̀.
For he will restore to man his works, and according to the ways of each, he will repay them.
12 Nítòótọ́ Ọlọ́run kì yóò hùwàkiwà; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olódùmarè kì yóò yí ìdájọ́ po.
For truly, God will not condemn in vain, nor will the Almighty repudiate judgment.
13 Ta ni ó fi ìtọ́jú ayé lé e lọ́wọ́, tàbí ta ni ó fi gbogbo ayé lé e lọ́wọ́?
What other is established over the earth? Or whom has he placed over the world, which he made?
14 Bí ó bá gbé ayé rẹ̀ lé kìkì ara rẹ̀ tí ó sì gba ọkàn rẹ̀ àti ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ sọ́dọ̀ ara rẹ̀,
But, if he directs his heart towards him, he will draw his spirit and breath to himself.
15 gbogbo ènìyàn ni yóò parun pọ̀, ènìyàn a sì tún padà di erùpẹ̀.
All flesh will fail together, and man will return to ashes.
16 “Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, bí ìwọ bá ní òye, gbọ́ èyí; fetísí ohùn ẹnu mi.
Therefore, if you have understanding, hear what is said, and heed the sound of my eloquence.
17 Ẹni tí ó kórìíra òtítọ́ ha le ṣe olórí bí? Ìwọ ó ha sì dá olóòótọ́ àti ẹni ńlá lẹ́bi?
Is he that does not love judgment able to be corrected? And how can you so greatly condemn him who is just?
18 O ha tọ́ láti wí fún ọba pé, ‘Ènìyàn búburú ní ìwọ,’ tàbí fún àwọn ọmọ-aládé pé, ‘Ìkà ni ẹ̀yin,’
He says to the king, “You are an apostate.” He calls commanders impious.
19 mélòó mélòó fún ẹni tí kì í ṣe ojúsàájú àwọn ọmọ-aládé tàbí tí kò kà ọlọ́rọ̀ sí ju tálákà lọ, nítorí pé iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀ ni gbogbo wọn í ṣe?
He does not accept the reputation of leaders; nor does he recognize the tyrant as he contends against the poor. For all are the work of his hands.
20 Ní ìṣẹ́jú kan ni wọn ó kú, àwọn ènìyàn á sì di yíyọ́ lẹ́nu láàrín ọ̀gànjọ́, wọn a sì kọjá lọ; a sì mú àwọn alágbára kúrò láìsí ọwọ́ ènìyàn níbẹ̀.
They will die suddenly, and the people will be troubled in the middle of the night, but they will pass through it, and the violent will be taken away without a hand.
21 “Nítorí pé ojú rẹ̀ ń bẹ ní ipa ọ̀nà ènìyàn, òun sì rí ìrìn rẹ̀ gbogbo.
For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he examines all of their steps.
22 Kò sí ibi òkùnkùn, tàbí òjìji ikú, níbi tí àwọn oníṣẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yóò gbé sá pamọ́ sí.
There is no darkness and no shadow of death, where those who work iniquity may be hidden.
23 Nítorí pé òun kò pẹ́ àti kíyèsi ẹnìkan, kí òun kí ó sì mú lọ sínú ìdájọ́ níwájú Ọlọ́run.
For it is no longer within the power of man to enter into judgment with God.
24 Òun ó sì fọ́ àwọn alágbára túútúú láìní ìwádìí, a sì fi ẹlòmíràn dípò wọn,
He will break into many innumerable pieces, and he will cause others to stand up in their place.
25 nítorí pé ó mọ iṣẹ́ wọn, ó sì yí wọn po ní òru, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n di ìtẹ̀mọ́lẹ̀.
For he knows their works, and, as a result, he will bring the night, and they will be crushed.
26 Ó kọlù wọ́n nítorí ìwà búburú wọn níbi tí àwọn ẹlòmíràn ti lè rí i,
Just as the impious do, he has struck them in a place where they can be seen.
27 nítorí pé wọ́n padà pẹ̀yìndà sí i, wọn kò sì fiyèsí ipa ọ̀nà rẹ̀ gbogbo,
They, as if with great diligence, have withdrawn from him, and they refused to understand all his ways,
28 kí wọn kí ó sì mú igbe ẹkún àwọn tálákà lọ dé ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀, òun sì gbọ́ igbe ẹkún aláìní.
so that they caused the outcry of the needy to reach him, and he heard the voice of the poor.
29 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ó bá dákẹ́ síbẹ̀, ta ni yóò dá lẹ́bi? Nígbà tí ó bá pa ojú rẹ̀ mọ́, ta ni yóò lè rí i? Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó ṣe si orílẹ̀-èdè tàbí sí ènìyàn kan ṣoṣo;
For, when he grants peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hides his face, who is there that can contemplate him, either among the nations, or among all men?
30 kí aláìwà bi Ọlọ́run kí ó má bá à jẹ ọba kí wọn kí ó má di ìdẹwò fún ènìyàn.
He causes a hypocritical man to reign because of the sins of the people.
31 “Nítorí pé ẹnìkan ha lè wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, èmi jẹ̀bi, èmi kò sì ní ṣẹ̀ mọ́?
Therefore, since I have been speaking about God, I will not prevent you from doing the same.
32 Èyí tí èmi kò rí ìwọ fi kọ́ mi bi mo bá sì dẹ́ṣẹ̀ èmi kì yóò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ mọ́.
If I have erred, you may teach me; if I have spoken unfairly, I will add no more.
33 Ǹjẹ́ bí ti inú rẹ̀ ni ki òun ó san ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ padà? Ǹjẹ́ òun yóò san án padà bí ìwọ bá kọ̀ ọ́ láti jẹ́wọ́, ìwọ gbọdọ̀ yan, kì í ṣe èmi. Nítorí náà sọ ohun tí o mọ̀, pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú ohun tí ìwọ mọ̀, sọ ọ́!
Does God require this of you because it is displeasing to you? For you were the first to speak, and not I. But if you know something better, speak.
34 “Àwọn ènìyàn amòye yóò wí fún mi, àti pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú ẹnikẹ́ni tí í ṣe ọlọ́gbọ́n tí ó sì gbọ́ mi pé,
Let men of understanding speak to me, and let a wise man listen to me.
35 ‘Jobu ti fi àìmọ̀ sọ̀rọ̀, ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ sì ṣe aláìgbọ́n.’
But Job has been speaking foolishly, and his words contain unsound teaching.
36 Ìfẹ́ mi ni kí a dán Jobu wò dé òpin, nítorí ìdáhùn rẹ̀ dàbí i ti ènìyàn búburú.
My father, let Job be tested even to the end; may you not retreat from a man of iniquity.
37 Nítorí pe ó fi ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ kún ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀; ó pàtẹ́wọ́ ní àárín wa, ó sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ odi púpọ̀ sí Ọlọ́run.”
For he adds blasphemy on top of his sins; nevertheless, let him be constrained to be among us, and then let him provoke God to judgment with his speeches.
