< Job 33 >

1 “Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà, Jobu, èmí bẹ̀ ọ, gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi kí o sì fetísí ọ̀rọ̀ mi!
And yet, I pray thee, O Job, Hear my speech and [to] all my words give ear.
2 Kíyèsi i nísinsin yìí, èmí ya ẹnu mi, ahọ́n mi sì sọ̀rọ̀ ní ẹnu mi.
Lo, I pray thee, I have opened my mouth, My tongue hath spoken in the palate.
3 Ọ̀rọ̀ mi yóò sì jásí ìdúró ṣinṣin ọkàn mi, ètè mi yóò sì sọ ìmọ̀ mi jáde dájúdájú.
Of the uprightness of my heart [are] my sayings, And knowledge have my lips clearly spoken.
4 Ẹ̀mí Ọlọ́run ni ó tí dá mi, àti ìmísí Olódùmarè ni ó ti fún mi ní ìyè.
The Spirit of God hath made me, And the breath of the Mighty doth quicken me.
5 Bí ìwọ bá le dá mi lóhùn, tò ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ lẹ́sẹẹsẹ níwájú mi;
If thou art able — answer me, Set in array before me — station thyself.
6 kíyèsi i, bí ìwọ ṣe jẹ́ ti Ọlọ́run, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi náà; láti amọ̀ wá ni a sì ti dá mi pẹ̀lú.
Lo, I [am], according to thy word, for God, From the clay I — I also, have been formed.
7 Kíyèsi i, ẹ̀rù ńlá mi kì yóò bà ọ; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọwọ́ mi kì yóò wúwo sí ọ lára.
Lo, my terror doth not frighten thee, And my burden on thee is not heavy.
8 “Nítòótọ́ ìwọ sọ ní etí mi, èmí sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ wí pé,
Surely — thou hast said in mine ears, And the sounds of words I hear:
9 ‘Èmi mọ́, láìní ìrékọjá, aláìṣẹ̀ ní èmi; bẹ́ẹ̀ àìṣedéédéé kò sí ní ọwọ́ mi.
'Pure [am] I, without transgression, Innocent [am] I, and I have no iniquity.
10 Kíyèsi i, Ọlọ́run ti rí àìṣedéédéé pẹ̀lú mi; ó kà mí sì ọ̀tá rẹ̀.
Lo, occasions against me He doth find, He doth reckon me for an enemy to Him,
11 Ó kan ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mi sínú àbà; o kíyèsi ipa ọ̀nà mi gbogbo.’
He doth put in the stocks my feet, He doth watch all my paths.'
12 “Kíyèsi i, nínú èyí ìwọ ṣìnà! Èmi ó dá ọ lóhùn pé, Ọlọ́run tóbi jù ènìyàn lọ!
Lo, [in] this thou hast not been righteous, I answer thee, that greater is God than man.
13 Nítorí kí ni ìwọ ṣe ń bá a jà, wí pé, òun kò ní sọ ọ̀rọ̀ kan nítorí iṣẹ́ rẹ̀?
Wherefore against Him hast thou striven, When [for] all His matters He answereth not?
14 Nítorí pe Ọlọ́run sọ̀rọ̀ lẹ́ẹ̀kan, àní, lẹ́ẹ̀kejì, ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn kò róye rẹ̀.
For once doth God speak, and twice, (He doth not behold it.)
15 Nínú àlá, ní ojúran òru, nígbà tí orun èjìká bá kùn ènìyàn lọ, ní sísùn lórí ibùsùn,
In a dream — a vision of night, In the falling of deep sleep on men, In slumberings on a bed.
16 nígbà náà ni ó lè sọ̀rọ̀ ní etí wọn, yóò sì dẹ́rùbà wọ́n pẹ̀lú ìbáwí,
Then He uncovereth the ear of men, And for their instruction sealeth:
17 kí ó lè fa ènìyàn sẹ́yìn kúrò nínú ètè rẹ̀; kí ó sì pa ìgbéraga mọ́ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn;
To turn aside man [from] doing, And pride from man He concealeth.
18 Ó sì fa ọkàn rẹ̀ padà kúrò nínú isà òkú, àti ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ láti ṣègbé lọ́wọ́ idà.
He keepeth back his soul from corruption, And his life from passing away by a dart.
19 “A sì nà án lórí ibùsùn ìrora rẹ̀; pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú a fi ìjà egungun rẹ̀ ti ó dúró pẹ́ nà án,
And he hath been reproved With pain on his bed, And the strife of his bones [is] enduring.
20 bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹ̀mí rẹ kọ oúnjẹ, ọkàn rẹ̀ sì kọ oúnjẹ dídùn.
And his life hath nauseated bread, And his soul desirable food.
21 Ẹran-ara rẹ̀ run, títí a kò sì fi lè rí i mọ́ egungun rẹ̀ tí a kò tí rí sì ta jáde.
His flesh is consumed from being seen, And high are his bones, they were not seen!
22 Àní, ọkàn rẹ̀ sì súnmọ́ isà òkú, ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ sì súnmọ́ ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ ikú.
And draw near to the pit doth his soul, And his life to those causing death.
23 Bí angẹli kan ba wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, ẹni tí ń ṣe alágbàwí, ọ̀kan nínú ẹgbẹ̀rún láti fi ọ̀nà pípé hàn ni,
If there is by him a messenger, An interpreter — one of a thousand, To declare for man his uprightness:
24 nígbà náà ni ó ṣe oore-ọ̀fẹ́ fún un ó sì wí pé, gbà á kúrò nínú lílọ sínú isà òkú; èmi ti rà á padà.
Then He doth favour him and saith, 'Ransom him from going down to the pit, I have found an atonement.'
25 Ara rẹ̀ yóò sì di ọ̀tun bí i ti ọmọ kékeré, yóò sì tún padà sí ọjọ́ ìgbà èwe rẹ̀;
Fresher [is] his flesh than a child's, He returneth to the days of his youth.
26 Ó gbàdúrà sọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run, òun sì ṣe ojúrere rẹ̀, o sì rí ojú rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ayọ̀, òhun o san òdodo rẹ̀ padà fún ènìyàn.
He maketh supplication unto God, And He accepteth him. And he seeth His face with shouting, And He returneth to man His righteousness.
27 Ó wá sọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn ó sì wí pé, ‘Èmi ṣẹ̀, kò sì ṣí èyí tí o tọ́, mo sì ti yí èyí tí ó tọ́ po, a kò sì san ẹ̀san rẹ̀ fún mi;
He looketh on men, and saith, 'I sinned, And uprightness I have perverted, And it hath not been profitable to me.
28 Ọlọ́run ti gba ọkàn mi kúrò nínú lílọ sínú ihò, ẹ̀mí mi yóò wà láti jẹ adùn ìmọ́lẹ̀ ayé.’
He hath ransomed my soul From going over into the pit, And my life on the light looketh.'
29 “Wò ó! Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Ọlọ́run máa ń ṣe fún ènìyàn nígbà méjì àti nígbà mẹ́ta,
Lo, all these doth God work, Twice — thrice with man,
30 láti mú ọkàn rẹ padà kúrò nínú isà òkú, láti fi ìmọ́lẹ̀ alààyè han sí i.
To bring back his soul from the pit, To be enlightened with the light of the living.
31 “Jobu, kíyèsi i gidigidi, kí o sì fetí sí mi; pa ẹnu rẹ mọ́, èmi ó sì máa sọ ọ́.
Attend, O Job, hearken to me, Keep silent, and I — I do speak.
32 Bí ìwọ bá sì ní ohun wí, dá mi lóhùn; máa sọ, nítorí pé èmi fẹ́ dá ọ láre.
If there are words — answer me, Speak, for I have a desire to justify thee.
33 Bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, gbọ́ tèmi; pa ẹnu rẹ mọ́, èmi ó sì kọ́ ọ ní ọgbọ́n.”
If there are not — hearken thou to me, Keep silent, and I teach thee wisdom.
