< Job 22 >

1 Ìgbà náà ni Elifasi, ará Temani, dáhùn wí pé,
And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 “Ènìyàn lè è ṣe rere fún Ọlọ́run? Bí ọlọ́gbọ́n ti í ṣe rere fún ara rẹ̀?
Can a man be profitable to God? surely it is unto himself that the wise man is profitable.
3 Ohun ayọ̀ ha ni fún Olódùmarè pé olódodo ni ìwọ? Tàbí èrè kí ni fún un ti ìwọ mú ọ̀nà rẹ̀ pé?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if thou art righteous? And is it gain [to him] that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4 “Yóò ha bá ọ wí bí, nítorí ìbẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run rẹ? Yóò ha bá ọ lọ sínú ìdájọ́ bí?
Will he reason with thee for fear of thee? Will he enter with thee into judgment?
5 Ìwà búburú rẹ kò ha tóbi, àti ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ láìníye?
Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities without end?
6 Nítòótọ́ ìwọ béèrè fún ààbò ni ọwọ́ arákùnrin rẹ láìnídìí, ìwọ sì tú oníhòhò ní aṣọ wọn.
For thou hast taken a pledge of thy brother for nought, and stripped off the clothing of the naked.
7 Ìwọ kò fi omi fún aláàárẹ̀ mu, ìwọ sì háwọ́ oúnjẹ fún ẹni tí ebi ń pa.
Thou hast not given water to the fainting to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8 Bí ó ṣe ti alágbára nì, òun ni ó ní ilẹ̀, ọlọ́lá sì tẹ̀dó sínú rẹ̀.
But the powerful man, he had the land; and the man of high rank dwelt in it.
9 Ìwọ ti rán àwọn opó padà lọ ní ọwọ́ òfo, apá àwọn ọmọ aláìní baba ti di ṣiṣẹ́.
Widows hast thou sent empty away, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10 Nítorí náà ni ìdẹ̀kùn ṣe yí ọ káàkiri, àti ìbẹ̀rù òjijì ń yọ ọ́ lẹ́nu.
Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
11 Èéṣe tí òkùnkùn fi pọ̀ tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ìwọ kò fi lè ríran. Èéṣe tí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi sì bò ọ́ mọ́lẹ̀.
Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and floods of waters cover thee.
12 “Ọlọ́run kò ha jẹ́ ẹni gíga ọ̀run? Sá wo orí àwọn ìràwọ̀ bí wọ́n ti ga tó!
Is not God in the height of the heavens? And behold the summit of the stars: how exalted are they!
13 Ìwọ sì wí pé, Ọlọ́run ti ṣe mọ̀? Òun ha lè ṣe ìdájọ́ láti inú òkùnkùn wá bí?
And thou sayest, What doth God know? will he judge through the dark cloud?
14 Ǹjẹ́ àwọsánmọ̀ tí ó nípọn jẹ ìbora fún un, tí kò fi lè ríran; ó sì ń rìn nínú àyíká ọ̀run.
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh on the vault of the heavens.
15 Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ fẹ́ rin ipa ọ̀nà ìgbàanì tí àwọn ènìyàn búburú tí rìn?
Dost thou mark the ancient path which wicked men have trodden?
16 A ké wọn lulẹ̀ kúrò nínú ayé láìpé ọjọ́ wọn, ìpìlẹ̀ wọn ti da bí odò ṣíṣàn.
Who were carried off before the time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood;
17 Àwọn ẹni tí ó wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, ‘Lọ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wa! Kí ni Olódùmarè yóò ṣe fún wọn?’
Who said unto God, Depart from us! and what could the Almighty do to them?
18 Síbẹ̀ ó fi ohun rere kún ilé wọn! Ṣùgbọ́n ìmọ̀ ènìyàn búburú jìnnà sí mi!
Yet he filled their houses with good. But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19 Àwọn olódodo rí ìparun wọn, wọ́n sì yọ̀, àwọn aláìlẹ́ṣẹ̀ sì fi wọ́n rẹ́rìn-ín ẹlẹ́yà pé,
The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:
20 ‘Lóòtítọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá wa ni a ké kúrò, iná yóò sì jó oró wọn run.’
Is not he who rose against us destroyed, and doth not the fire consume his residue?
21 “Fa ara rẹ súnmọ́ Ọlọ́run, ìwọ ó sì rí àlàáfíà; nípa èyí ni rere yóò wá bá ọ.
Reconcile thyself now with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
22 Èmi bẹ̀ ọ́, gba òfin láti ẹnu rẹ̀ wá, kí o sì to ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ sí àyà rẹ.
Receive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart.
23 Bí ìwọ bá yípadà sọ́dọ̀ Olódùmarè, a sì gbé ọ ró. Bí ìwọ bá sì mú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ jìnnà réré kúrò nínú àgọ́ rẹ,
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. If thou remove unrighteousness far from thy tents,
24 tí ìwọ bá tẹ́ wúrà dáradára sílẹ̀, lórí erùpẹ̀ àti wúrà Ofiri lábẹ́ òkúta odò,
And put the precious ore with the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the torrents,
25 nígbà náà ní Olódùmarè yóò jẹ́ wúrà rẹ, àní yóò sì jẹ́ fàdákà fún ọ ní ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀.
Then the Almighty will be thy precious ore, and silver heaped up unto thee;
26 Lóòtítọ́ nígbà náà ní ìwọ ó ní inú dídùn nínú Olódùmarè, ìwọ ó sì gbé ojú rẹ sókè sọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
Yea, then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God:
27 Bí ìwọ bá gbàdúrà rẹ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, yóò sì gbọ́ tìrẹ, ìwọ ó sì san ẹ̀jẹ́ rẹ.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows;
28 Ìwọ ó sì gbìmọ̀ ohun kan pẹ̀lú, yóò sì fi ìdí múlẹ̀ fún ọ; ìmọ́lẹ̀ yóò sì mọ́ sípa ọ̀nà rẹ.
And thou shalt decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.
29 Nígbà tí ipa ọ̀nà rẹ bá lọ sísàlẹ̀, nígbà náà ni ìwọ o wí pé, ‘Ìgbésókè ń bẹ!’ Ọlọ́run yóò sì gba onírẹ̀lẹ̀ là!
When they are made low, then thou shalt say, Rise up! and he shall save him that is of downcast eyes.
30 Yóò gba ẹni tí kì í ṣe aláìjẹ̀bi là, a ó sì gbà á nípa mímọ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀.”
[Even] him that is not innocent shall he deliver; yea, he shall be delivered by the pureness of thy hands.
