< Job 15 >

1 Ìgbà náà ní Elifasi, ará Temani, dáhùn wí pé,
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,
2 “Ọlọ́gbọ́n a máa sọ̀rọ̀ ìmọ̀ asán kí ó sì máa fi afẹ́fẹ́ ìlà-oòrùn kún ara rẹ̀ nínú?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
3 Òun lè máa fi àròyé sọ̀rọ̀ tí kò ní èrè, tàbí pẹ̀lú ọ̀rọ̀ nínú èyí tí kò lè fi ṣe rere?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
4 Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ ṣá ìbẹ̀rù tì, ìwọ sì dí iṣẹ́ ìsìn lọ́nà níwájú Ọlọ́run.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
5 Nítorí pé ẹnu ara rẹ̀ ni ó jẹ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀, ìwọ sì yàn ahọ́n alárékérekè ni ààyò.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
6 Ẹnu ara rẹ̀ ni ó dá lẹ́bi, kì í ṣe èmi; àní ètè ara rẹ̀ ni ó jẹ́rìí gbè ọ́.
Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
7 “Ìwọ ha í ṣe ọkùnrin tí a kọ́ bí? Tàbí a ha dá ọ ṣáájú àwọn òkè?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
8 Ìwọ gbúròó àṣírí Ọlọ́run rí? Tàbí ìwọ ha dá ọgbọ́n dúró sọ́dọ̀ ara rẹ?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
9 Kí ni ìwọ mọ̀ tí àwa kò mọ̀? Òye kí ní ó yé ọ tí kò sí nínú wa?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
10 Àwọn arúgbó àti ògbólógbòó ènìyàn wà pẹ̀lú wa, tí wọ́n dàgbà ju baba rẹ lọ.
With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than your father.
11 Ìtùnú Ọlọ́run ha kéré lọ́dọ̀ rẹ? Ọ̀rọ̀ kan sì ṣe jẹ́jẹ́ jù lọ́dọ̀ rẹ?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
12 Èéṣe ti ọkàn rẹ fi ń ti ọ kiri, kí ni ìwọ tẹjúmọ́ tóbẹ́ẹ̀.
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
13 Tí ìwọ fi yí ẹ̀mí rẹ padà lòdì sí Ọlọ́run, tí ó fi ń jẹ́ ki ọ̀rọ̀kọ́rọ̀ kí ó máa bọ́ ní ẹnu rẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
14 “Kí ni ènìyàn tí ó fi jẹ mímọ́, àti ẹni tí a tinú obìnrin bí tí yóò fi ṣe olódodo?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15 Kíyèsi i, bi Ọlọ́run ko ba gbẹ́kẹ̀lé àwọn ẹni mímọ́ rẹ̀, àní àwọn ọ̀run kò mọ́ ní ojú rẹ̀,
Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
16 mélòó mélòó ni ènìyàn, ẹni ìríra àti eléèérí, tí ń mu ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ bi ẹní mu omi.
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
17 “Èmi ó fihàn ọ́, gbọ́ ti èmi; èyí tí èmi sì rí, òun ni èmi ó sì sọ,
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
18 ohun tí àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n ti pa ní ìtàn láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn baba wọn wá, ti wọ́n kò sì fi pamọ́.
(which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;
19 Àwọn tí a fi ilẹ̀ ayé fún nìkan, ti àlejò kan kò sì là wọ́n kọjá.
to whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them):
20 Ènìyàn búburú ń ṣe làálàá, pẹ̀lú ìrora, ní ọjọ́ rẹ̀ gbogbo, àti iye ọdún ní a dá sílẹ̀ fún aninilára.
the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
21 Ìró ìbẹ̀rù ń bẹ ní etí rẹ̀; nínú ìrora ni apanirun yóò dìde sí i.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
22 Kò gbàgbọ́ pé òun ó jáde kúrò nínú òkùnkùn; a sì ṣà á sápá kan fún idà.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
23 Ó ń wò káàkiri fún oúnjẹ wí pé, níbo ní ó wà? Ó mọ̀ pé ọjọ́ òkùnkùn súnmọ́ tòsí.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Ìpọ́njú pẹ̀lú ìrora ọkàn yóò mú un bẹ̀rù, wọ́n ó sì ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀ bi ọba ti ìmúra ogun.
Distress and anguish make him afraid. They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25 Nítorí pé ó ti nawọ́ rẹ̀ jáde lòdì sí Ọlọ́run, ó sì múra rẹ̀ le lòdì sí Olódùmarè,
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
26 ó súre, ó sì fi ẹ̀yìn gíga, àní fi ike-kókó àpáta rẹ̀ tí ó nípọn kọlù ú.
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
27 “Nítorí tí òun fi ọ̀rá rẹ̀ bo ara rẹ̀ lójú, o sì ṣe ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹran sí ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
28 Òun sì gbé inú ahoro ìlú, àti nínú ilẹ̀ tí ènìyàn kò gbé mọ́, tí ó múra tán láti di àlàpà.
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
29 Òun kò lé di ọlọ́rọ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ohun ìní rẹ̀ kò lè dúró pẹ́; bẹ́ẹ̀ kò lè mú pípé rẹ̀ dúró pẹ́ lórí ilẹ̀.
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
30 Òun kì yóò jáde kúrò nínú òkùnkùn; ọ̀wọ́-iná ni yóò jó ẹ̀ka rẹ̀, àti nípasẹ̀ ẹ̀mí ẹnu Ọlọ́run ní a ó gba kúrò.
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
31 Kí òun kí ó má ṣe gbẹ́kẹ̀lé asán, kí ó má sì ṣe tan ara rẹ̀ jẹ. Nítorí pé asán ní yóò jásí èrè rẹ̀.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
32 A ó mú un ṣẹ ṣáájú pípé ọjọ́ rẹ̀, ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ kì yóò sì tutù.
It will be accomplished before his time. His branch will not be green.
33 Yóò dàbí àjàrà tí a gbọn èso àìpọ́n rẹ̀ dànù, yóò sì rẹ̀ ìtànná rẹ̀ dànù bí i ti igi Olifi.
He will shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and will cast off his flower as the olive tree.
34 Nítorí pé ayọ̀ àwọn àgàbàgebè yóò túká, iná ní yóò sì jó àgọ́ àwọn tí ó fẹ́ràn àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
35 Wọ́n lóyún ìwà ìkà, wọ́n sì bí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, ikùn wọn sì pèsè ẹ̀tàn.”
They conceive mischief and produce iniquity. Their heart prepares deceit.”
