< Job 12 >
1 Jobu sì dáhùn, ó sì wí pé,
And Job answers and says:
2 “Kò sí àní àní níbẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ni àwọn ènìyàn náà, ọgbọ́n yóò sì kú pẹ̀lú yín!
“Truly—you [are] the people, and wisdom dies with you.
3 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi ní ìyè nínú gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀yin; èmi kò kéré sí i yín. Àní, ta ni kò mọ gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí?
I also have a heart like you, I am not fallen more than you, And with whom is there not like these?
4 “Èmi dàbí ẹni tí a ń fi ṣe ẹlẹ́yà lọ́dọ̀ aládùúgbò rẹ̀, tí ó ké pe Ọlọ́run, tí ó sì dá a lóhùn, à ń fi olóòtítọ́ ẹni ìdúró ṣinṣin rẹ́rìn-ín ẹlẹ́yà!
I am a laughter to his friend: He calls to God, and He answers him, A laughter [is] the perfect righteous one.
5 Ó rọrùn fún ènìyàn láti fi ìbànújẹ́ ẹlòmíràn ṣe ẹlẹ́yà gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìpín àwọn ẹni tí ẹsẹ̀ wọn ṣetán láti yọ̀.
A torch—despised in the thoughts of the secure Is prepared for those sliding with the feet.
6 Àgọ́ àwọn ìgárá ọlọ́ṣà wá láìní ìbẹ̀rù; àwọn tí ó sì ń mú Ọlọ́run bínú wà láìléwu, àwọn ẹni tí ó sì gbá òrìṣà mú ní ọwọ́ wọn.
The tents of spoilers are at peace, And those provoking God have confidence, Into whose hand God has brought.
7 “Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí bí àwọn ẹranko léèrè, wọn o kọ́ ọ ní ẹ̀kọ́, àti ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run, wọn ó sì sọ fún ọ.
And yet, now ask [one of] the beasts, And it shows you, And a bird of the heavens, And it declares to you.
8 Tàbí ba ilẹ̀ ayé sọ̀rọ̀, yóò sì kọ́ ọ, àwọn ẹja inú òkun yóò sì sọ fún ọ.
Or talk to the earth, and it shows you, And fishes of the sea recount to you:
9 Ta ni kò mọ̀ nínú gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí pé, ọwọ́ Olúwa ni ó ṣe nǹkan yìí?
Who has not known in all these, That the hand of YHWH has done this?
10 Ní ọwọ́ ẹni tí ẹ̀mí ohun alààyè gbogbo gbé wà, àti ẹ̀mí gbogbo aráyé.
In whose hand [is] the breath of every living thing, And the spirit of all flesh of man.
11 Etí kì í dán ọ̀rọ̀ wò bí tàbí adùn ẹnu kì í sì í tọ́ oúnjẹ rẹ̀ wò bí?
Does the ear not try words? And the palate taste food for itself?
12 Àwọn arúgbó ni ọgbọ́n wà fún, àti nínú gígùn ọjọ́ ni òye.
With the very aged [is] wisdom, And [with] length of days [is] understanding.
13 “Ti Ọlọ́run ni ọgbọ́n àti agbára; òun ló ni ìmọ̀ àti òye.
With Him [are] wisdom and might, To Him [are] counsel and understanding.
14 Kíyèsi i, ó bì wó, a kò sì lè gbe ró mọ́; Ó sé ènìyàn mọ́, kò sì sí ìtúsílẹ̀ kan.
Behold, He breaks down, and it is not built up, He shuts against a man, And it is not opened.
15 Kíyèsi i, ó dá àwọn omi dúró, wọ́n sì gbẹ; Ó sì rán wọn jáde, wọ́n sì ṣẹ̀ bo ilẹ̀ ayé yípo.
Behold, He keeps in the waters, and they are dried up, And He sends them forth, And they overturn the land.
16 Tìrẹ ni agbára àti ìṣẹ́gun; ẹni tí ń ṣìnà àti ẹni tí ń mú ni ṣìnà, tirẹ̀ ni wọ́n ń ṣe.
With Him [are] strength and wisdom, His the deceived and deceiver.
17 Ó mú àwọn ìgbìmọ̀ lọ ní ìhòhò a sì sọ àwọn onídàájọ́ di òmùgọ̀.
Causing counselors to go away [as] a spoil, Indeed, He makes fools of judges.
18 Ó tú ìdè ọba ó sì fi àmùrè gbà wọ́n ní ọ̀já.
He has opened the bands of kings, And He binds a girdle on their loins.
19 Ó mú àwọn àlùfáà lọ ní ìhòhò ó sì tẹ orí àwọn alágbára ba.
Causing ministers to go away [as] a spoil And strong ones He overthrows.
20 Ó mú ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu ẹni ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé kúrò ó sì ra àwọn àgbàgbà ní iyè.
Turning aside the lip of the steadfast, And the reason of the aged He takes away.
21 Ó bu ẹ̀gàn lu àwọn ọmọ ọlọ́lá ó sì tú àmùrè àwọn alágbára.
Pouring contempt on princes, And the girdle of the mighty He made feeble.
22 Ó hú ìdí ohun ìjìnlẹ̀ jáde láti inú òkùnkùn wá ó sì mú òjìji ikú wá sínú ìmọ́lẹ̀.
Removing deep things out of darkness, And He brings out to light death-shade.
23 Òun a mú orílẹ̀-èdè bí sí i, a sì run wọ́n; òun a sọ orílẹ̀-èdè di ńlá, a sì tún ṣẹ̀ wọn kù.
Magnifying the nations, and He destroys them, Spreading out the nations, and He quiets them.
24 Òun a gba òye àwọn olórí àwọn ènìyàn aráyé, a sì máa mú wọn rin kiri nínú ijù níbi tí ọ̀nà kò sí.
Turning aside the heart Of the heads of the people of the land, And He causes them to wander In vacancy—no way!
25 Wọn a máa fi ọwọ́ ta ilẹ̀ nínú òkùnkùn níbi tí kò sí ìmọ́lẹ̀; òun a sì máa mú ìrìn ìsìn wọn bí ọ̀mùtí.
They feel darkness, and not light, He causes them to wander as a drunkard.”
