< Jeremiah 8 >

1 “‘Ní ìgbà náà ni Olúwa wí pé, wọn yóò mú egungun àwọn ọba Juda àti egungun àwọn ìjòyè, egungun àwọn àlùfáà àti egungun àwọn wòlíì àti egungun àwọn olùgbé Jerusalẹmu kúrò nínú ibojì.
"At that time," says Jehovah, "they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his officials, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;

3 Níbikíbi tí mo bá lé wọn lọ, gbogbo àwọn ìyókù wọn yóò fẹ́ ikú ju ìyè lọ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.’
Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I have driven them," says Jehovah of hosts.
4 “Wí fún wọn pé, ‘Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí: “‘Bí ènìyàn bá ṣubú lulẹ̀, wọn kì í padà dìde bí? Nígbà tí ènìyàn bá yà kúrò ní ọ̀nà rẹ, kì í yí padà bí?

Why then do these people of Jerusalem turn away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit; they refuse to return.
6 Mo ti fetísílẹ̀ dáradára, wọn kò sọ ohun tí ó tọ́. Kò sí ẹnìkan tó ronúpìwàdà nínú ìwà búburú rẹ̀, kí ó wí pé, “Kí ni mo ṣe?” Olúkúlùkù ń tọ ọ̀nà rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹṣin tó ń lọ sójú ogun.
I listened and heard, but they did not speak what is right: no man repents him of his wickedness, saying, "What have I done?" Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.
7 Kódà, ẹyẹ àkọ̀ ojú ọ̀run mọ ìgbà tirẹ̀, àdàbà, alápáǹdẹ̀dẹ̀ àti lékèélékèé mọ àkókò ìṣípò padà wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn mi kò mọ ohun tí Olúwa wọn fẹ́.
Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people do not know Jehovah's law.
8 “‘Báwo ni ẹ̀yin ṣe lè wí pé, “Àwa gbọ́n, nítorí a ní òfin Olúwa,” nígbà tí ó jẹ́ pé kálámù èké àwọn akọ̀wé ti àwọn sọ ọ́ di ẹ̀tàn.
How can you say, "We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us?" But, look, the lying pen of the scribes has worked falsehood.
9 Ojú yóò ti àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n, a ó dà wọ́n láàmú, wọn yóò sì kó sí ìgbèkùn. Nítorí wọ́n ti kọ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa, irú ọgbọ́n wo ló kù tí wọ́n ní?
The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: look, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what kind of wisdom is in them?
10 Nítorí náà, èmi yóò fi ìyàwó wọn fún àwọn ọkùnrin mìíràn àti ilẹ̀ wọn fún àwọn ẹlòmíràn. Láti èyí tó kéré jù dé èyí tó dàgbà jù, gbogbo wọn ni èrè àjẹjù ń jẹ lógún; àwọn wòlíì àti àwọn àlùfáà pẹ̀lú ń hùwà ẹ̀tàn.
therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall possess them: for everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people superficially, saying, "Peace, peace;" when there is no peace.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No. They were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among those who fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, says Jehovah.
13 “‘Èmi yóò mú ìkórè wọn kúrò, ni Olúwa wí. Kì yóò sí èso lórí igi àjàrà. Kì yóò sí ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ lórí igi, ewé wọn yóò sì rẹ̀ sílẹ̀. Ohun tí mo ti fi fún wọn ni à ó gbà kúrò.’”
I will utterly consume them, says Jehovah: no grapes shall be on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.'"

"Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for Jehovah our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah.
15 Àwa ń retí àlàáfíà kò sí ìre kan, tí ó wá ní ìgbà ìmúláradá bí kò ṣe ìpayà nìkan.
We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and look, dismay.
16 Ìró ìfọn imú ẹṣin àwọn ọlọ̀tẹ̀ là ń gbọ́ láti Dani, yíyan àwọn akọ ẹṣin mú gbogbo ilẹ̀ wárìrì. Wọ́n wá láti pa ilẹ̀ náà run, gbogbo ohun tó wà níbẹ̀, ìlú náà àti gbogbo olùgbé ibẹ̀.
The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they have come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell in it.
17 “Wò ó, èmi yóò rán àwọn ejò olóró sí àárín yín, paramọ́lẹ̀ tí ẹ kò lè pa oró wọn, yóò sì bù yín jẹ,” ni Olúwa wí.
For, look, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you," says Jehovah.
18 Olùtùnú mi, nígbà tí ìbànújẹ́ ọkàn mi, rẹ̀wẹ̀sì nínú mi.
"My joy for me is sorrow. My heart is faint within me.
Look, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: 'Isn't Jehovah in Zion? Isn't her King in her?'" "Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities?"
20 “Ìkórè ti rékọjá, ìgbà ẹ̀ẹ̀rùn ti parí, síbẹ̀ a kò gbà wá là.”
"'The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.'
21 Níwọ́n ìgbà tí a pa àwọn ènìyàn mi run, èmi náà run pẹ̀lú, èmi ṣọ̀fọ̀, ìrora sì mú mi káká.
For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has taken hold on me.

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then isn't the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
