< Jeremiah 7 >

1 Èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ tó tọ Jeremiah wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 “Dúró ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ilé Olúwa kí o sì kéde ọ̀rọ̀ yí: “‘Ẹ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa gbogbo ẹ̀yin ará Juda tí ń gba ọ̀nà yí wọlé láti wá sin Olúwa.
Place thyself in the gate of the house of the Lord, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of Judah, that enter in by these gates to bow down before the Lord.
3 Èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ tí Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí: Tún àwọn ọ̀nà yín ṣe, èmi yóò sì jẹ́ kí ẹ gbé ilẹ̀ yìí.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will permit you to dwell in this place.
4 Má ṣe gba ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn gbọ́ kí ẹ sì wí pé, “Èyí ni tẹmpili Olúwa ilé tẹmpili Olúwa, ilé tẹmpili Olúwa!”
[But] do not rely on the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, [as] they [say].
5 Bí ẹ̀yin bá tún ọ̀nà yín àti iṣẹ́ yín ṣe nítòótọ́, tí ẹ sì ń bá ara yín lò ní ọ̀nà tó tọ́.
For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your deeds; if ye thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;
6 Bí ẹ kò bá fi ara ni àwọn àlejò, àwọn ọmọ aláìní baba àti àwọn opó tí ẹ kò sì ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ aláìṣẹ̀ sílẹ̀ ní ibí yìí, bí ẹ kò bá sì tọ ọlọ́run mìíràn lẹ́yìn sí ìpalára ara yín.
If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after other gods to your own hurt:
7 Nígbà náà ni èmi yóò jẹ́ kí ẹ gbé ìbí yìí, nílẹ̀ tí mo fún àwọn baba ńlá yín títí láé.
Then will I permit you to dwell in this place, in the land that I have given to your fathers, from eternity to eternity.
8 Ẹ wò ó, ẹ ń gba ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn tí kò níláárí gbọ́.
Behold, ye rely on the words of falsehood, that cannot profit.
9 “‘Ẹ̀yin yóò ha jalè, kí ẹ pànìyàn, kí ẹ ṣe panṣágà, kí ẹ búra èké, kí ẹ sun tùràrí sí Baali, kí ẹ sì tọ ọlọ́run mìíràn tí ẹ̀yin kò mọ̀ lọ?
How? will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Ba'al, and walk after other gods of which ye have no knowledge;
10 Nígbà náà ni kí ó wá dúró ní iwájú nínú ilé yìí tí a fi orúkọ mi pè, “Kí ẹ wá wí pé àwa yè,” àwa yè láti ṣe gbogbo àwọn nǹkan ìríra wọ̀nyí bí?
And [then] come and stand before my presence in this house, which is called by my name, and say, “We are delivered;” in order to do all these abominations?
11 Ṣé ilé yìí, tí a fi orúkọ mi pè ti di ihò àwọn ọlọ́ṣà lọ́dọ̀ yín ni? Èmi ti ń wò ó! ni Olúwa wí.
Is then this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? [But] I also, behold, I have seen it, saith the Lord.
12 “‘Ẹ lọ nísinsin yìí sí Ṣilo níbi ti mo kọ́ fi ṣe ibùgbé fún orúkọ mi, kí ẹ sì rí ohun tí mo ṣe sí i nítorí ìwà búburú Israẹli tí í ṣe ènìyàn mi.
For go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did unto it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
13 Nígbà tí ẹ̀yin ń ṣe àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni èmi bá a yín sọ̀rọ̀ léraléra ni Olúwa wí ẹ̀yin kò gbọ́, èmi pè yín, ẹ̀yin kò dáhùn.
And now, whereas ye have done all these acts, saith the Lord, and I spoke unto you, causing [the prophets] to rise up early and speaking, while ye would not hear; and I called you, but ye would not answer:
14 Nítorí náà, èmi yóò ṣe ohun tí mo ṣe sí Ṣilo sí ilé náà tí a fi orúkọ mi pè, ilé tẹmpili nínú èyí tí ẹ ní ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé, ààyè tí mo fún ẹ̀yin àti àwọn baba yín.
Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, whereon ye rely, and unto the place which I have given to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
15 Èmi yóò tú kúrò ní iwájú mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo ti ṣe sí àwọn arákùnrin yín, àwọn ará Efraimu.’
And I will cast you out of my presence, as I have cast out all your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.
16 “Nítorí náà má ṣe gbàdúrà fún àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí tàbí kí o bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún wọn; ma ṣe bẹ̀ mí, nítorí èmi kì yóò tẹ́tí sí ọ.
But thou—pray not thou in behalf of this people, nor lift up in their behalf entreaty or prayer, nor make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee.
17 Ṣé ìwọ kò rí ohun tí wọ́n ń ṣe ní àwọn ìlú Juda àti ní òpópó Jerusalẹmu?
Dost thou not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
18 Àwọn ọmọ ṣa igi jọ, àwọn baba fi iná sí i, àwọn ìyá sì po ìyẹ̀fun láti ṣe àkàrà fún ayaba ọ̀run, wọ́n tú ẹbọ ọrẹ mímu sí àwọn ọlọ́run àjèjì láti ru bínú mi sókè.
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven, and they pour out drink-offerings unto other gods, in order to provoke me to anger.
19 Ṣùgbọ́n ṣe èmi ni wọ́n fẹ́ mú bínú? ni Olúwa wí. Ǹjẹ́ kì í ṣe pé wọ́n kúkú ń pa ara wọn lára sí ìtìjú ara wọn?
Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Lord, [and] not themselves, to the shame of their own faces?
20 “‘Nítorí náà, èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, “Èmi yóò tú ìbínú àti ìrunú mi sí orílẹ̀ yìí ènìyàn àti ẹranko, igi, pápá àti èso orí ilẹ̀, yóò sì jó tí kò ní ṣe é pa.”
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold my anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, over man, and over beast, and over the trees of the field, and over the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and it shall not be quenched.
21 “‘Èyí ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun, Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí: Tẹ̀síwájú kí ẹ kó ẹbọ sísun yín àti àwọn ẹbọ yòókù papọ̀ kí ẹ̀yin kí ó sì jẹ ẹran wọ́n fúnra yín.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Add your burnt-offerings unto your peace-sacrifices, and eat the flesh thereof.
22 Ní tòsí nígbà tí mo mú àwọn baba ńlá yín jáde kúrò ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti tí mo sì bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀. N kò pàṣẹ fún wọn lórí ẹbọ sísun lásán.
For I spoke not with your fathers, and I commanded them not on the day of my bringing them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt-offering or sacrifice;
23 Mo pàṣẹ fún wọn báyìí pé; gbọ́ tèmi, èmi yóò sì jẹ́ Ọlọ́run yín ẹ̀yin yóò sì jẹ́ ènìyàn mi. Máa rìn ní ojú ọ̀nà tí mo pàṣẹ fún yín, kí ó lè dára fún yín.
But this thing did I command them, saying, Hearken to my voice, and I will be unto you for a God, and ye shall be unto me for a people; and walk ye altogether on the way which I may command you, in order that it may be well unto you.
24 Ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò gbọ́, wọn kò sì fetísílẹ̀ dípò èyí wọ́n ń tẹ̀ sí ọ̀nà agídí ọkàn wọn. Dípò kí wọn tẹ̀síwájú wọ́n ń rẹ̀yìn.
Yet they hearkened not, and inclined not their ear; but they walked in the counsels, in the stubbornness of their evil heart; and they went backward, and not forward:
25 Láti ìgbà tí àwọn baba ńlá yín ti jáde ní Ejibiti títí di òní, ni èmi ti ń rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ mi, àwọn wòlíì sí yín.
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt until this day; and I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, sending them daily in the morning early;
26 Wọn kò gbọ́ wọn kò sì fetísílẹ̀. Wọ́n wa ọrùn le, wọn wa ọrùn kì, wọ́n sì hu ìwà ìbàjẹ́ ju àwọn baba ńlá wọn.’
Yet they hearkened not unto me, and inclined not their ear; but they hardened their neck; they did worse than their fathers.
27 “Nígbà tí ìwọ bá sọ gbogbo èyí fún wọn, wọn kì yóò gbọ́ tirẹ̀, nígbà tí ìwọ bá sì pè wọ́n, wọn kì yóò dáhùn.
And if thou speak unto them all these words, and they will not hearken to thee; and if thou call unto them, and they will not answer thee:
28 Nítorí náà, sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Èyí ni orílẹ̀-èdè tí kò gbọ́ ti Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ tàbí kí ó ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí ìbáwí. Ọ̀rọ̀ òtítọ́ kò sí ní ètè wọn.
Then shalt thou say unto them, This is the nation that hearken not to the voice of the Lord their God, and accept not correction; lost is the truth, and is obliterated from their mouth.
29 “‘Gé irun yín kí ẹ sì dàánù, pohùnréré ẹkún lórí òkè, nítorí Olúwa ti kọ ìran yìí tí ó wà lábẹ́ ìbínú rẹ̀ sílẹ̀.
Cut off thy flowing hair, and cast it away, and take up on mountain-tops a lamentation; for rejected hath the Lord and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30 “‘Àwọn ènìyàn Juda ti ṣe búburú lójú mi, ni Olúwa wí. Wọ́n ti to àwọn ère ìríra wọn jọ sí ilé tí a fi orúkọ mi pè wọ́n sì ti sọ ọ́ di àìmọ́.
For the children of Judah have done what is evil in my eyes, saith the Lord: they have set up their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
31 Wọ́n ti kọ́ àwọn ibi gíga ti Tofeti ní àfonífojì Beni-Hinnomu láti sun àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin wọn nínú iná èyí tí èmi kò pàṣẹ tí kò sì wá sí ọkàn mi.
And they have built the high-places of Thophet, which is in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I had not commanded, and which never came into my mind.
32 Nítorí náà kíyèsára ọjọ́ ń bọ̀, ni Olúwa wí, nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn kò ní pè é ní Tafeti tàbí àfonífojì ti Beni-Hinnomu; ṣùgbọ́n yóò ma jẹ àfonífojì ìparun, nítorí wọn yóò sin òkú sí Tofeti títí kò fi ní sí ààyè mọ́.
Therefore, behold days are coming, saith the Lord, that it shall not be called any more Thophet, or The valley of Ben-hinnom, but The valley of slaughter: and they shall bury in Thophet, for want of room.
33 Nígbà náà ni òkú àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí yóò di oúnjẹ fún àwọn ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run àti ẹranko ilẹ̀, kò sì ní sí ẹnìkan tí yóò dẹ́rùbà wọ́n.
And the carcasses of this people shall become food unto the fowls of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth, with none to chase them away.
34 Èmi yóò mú òpin bá ìró ayọ̀ àti ìdùnnú àti ohùn àwọn tọkọtaya ní àwọn ìlú Juda àti ní ìgboro Jerusalẹmu, nítorí tí ilẹ̀ náà yóò di ahoro.
And I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of gladness, and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride; for a desert shall the land become.
