< Jeremiah 5 >

1 “Lọ sókè àti sódò àwọn òpópó Jerusalẹmu, wò yíká, kí o sì mọ̀, kí o sì wá kiri. Bí o bá le è rí ẹnìkan, tí ó jẹ́ olóòtítọ́ àti olódodo, n ó dáríjì ìlú yìí.
“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.
2 Bí wọ́n tilẹ̀ wí pé, ‘Bí Olúwa ti ń bẹ,’ síbẹ̀ wọ́n búra èké.”
Though they say, ‘As the LORD lives,’ surely they swear falsely.”
3 Olúwa, ojú rẹ kò ha wà lára òtítọ́? Ìwọ lù wọ́n, kò dùn wọ́n; ìwọ bá wọn wí, wọ́n kọ̀ láti yípadà. Wọ́n mú ojú wọn le ju òkúta lọ, wọ́n sì kọ̀ láti yípadà.
O LORD, do not your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.
4 Èmi sì rò pé, “Tálákà ni àwọn yìí; wọn jẹ́ aṣiwèrè, nítorí pé wọn kò mọ ọ̀nà Olúwa, àti ohun tí Ọlọ́run wọn ń fẹ́.
Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they do not know the LORD’s way, nor the law of their God.
5 Nítorí náà, èmi yóò tọ àwọn adarí lọ, n ó sì bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀; ó dájú wí pé wọ́n mọ ọ̀nà Olúwa àti ohun tí Ọlọ́run wọn ń fẹ́.” Ṣùgbọ́n pẹ̀lú ìfìmọ̀ṣọ̀kan, wọ́n ti ba àjàgà jẹ́, wọ́n sì ti já ìdè.
I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
6 Nítorí náà, kìnnìún láti inú igbó yóò kọlù wọ́n, ìkookò aginjù yóò sì pa wọ́n run, ẹkùn yóò máa ṣe ibùba sí ẹ̀bá ìlú yín ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá jáde ni yóò fàya pẹ́rẹpẹ̀rẹ, nítorí àìgbọ́ràn yín pọ, ìpadàsẹ́yìn wọn sì pọ̀.
Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.
7 “Kí ni ṣe tí èmi ó ṣe dáríjì ọ́? Àwọn ọmọ rẹ ti kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀ àti pé wọ́n ti fi ọlọ́run tí kì í ṣe Ọlọ́run búra. Mo pèsè fún gbogbo àìní wọn, síbẹ̀ wọ́n tún ń ṣe panṣágà wọ́n sì kórajọ sí ilé àwọn alágbèrè.
“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.
8 Wọ́n jẹ́ akọ ẹṣin tí a bọ́ yó, tí ó lágbára, wọ́n sì ń sọkún sí aya arákùnrin wọn.
They were as fed horses roaming at large. Everyone neighed after his neighbor’s wife.
9 Èmi kì yóò ha ṣe ìbẹ̀wò nítorí nǹkan wọ̀nyí?” ni Olúwa wí. “Èmi kì yóò wá gba ẹ̀san fúnra mi lára irú orílẹ̀-èdè bí èyí bí?
Should not I punish them for these things?” says the LORD. “Should not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10 “Lọ sí ọgbà àjàrà rẹ̀, kí ẹ sì pa wọ́n run, ẹ má ṣe pa wọ́n run pátápátá. Ya ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ kúrò, nítorí àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí kì í ṣe ti Olúwa.
“Go up on her walls, and destroy, but do not make a full end. Take away her branches, for they are not the LORD’s.
11 Ilé Israẹli àti ilé Juda ti jẹ́ aláìṣòdodo sí mi,” ni Olúwa wí.
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me,” says the LORD.
12 Wọ́n ti pa irọ́ mọ́ Olúwa; wọ́n wí pé, “Òun kì yóò ṣe ohun kan! Ibi kan kì yóò sì tọ̀ wá wá; àwa kì yóò sì rí idà tàbí ìyàn.
They have denied the LORD, and said, “It is not he. Evil will not come on us. We will not see sword or famine.
13 Àwọn wòlíì wá dàbí afẹ́fẹ́, ọ̀rọ̀ kò sí nínú wọn. Nítorí náà, jẹ́ kí ohun tí wọ́n bá sọ ṣẹlẹ̀ sí wọn.”
The prophets will become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them.”
14 Nítorí náà, báyìí ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run Alágbára wí: “Nítorí tí àwọn ènìyàn ti sọ àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí; Èmi yóò sọ ọ̀rọ̀ mi lẹ́nu wọn di iná, àti àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí di igi tí yóò jórun.
Therefore the LORD, the God of Armies says, “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it will devour them.
15 Háà, ẹ̀yin ilé Israẹli,” ni Olúwa wí, “Èmi yóò mú kí orílẹ̀-èdè láti ọ̀nà jíjìn dìde sí i yín Orílẹ̀-èdè àtijọ́ àti alágbára nì àwọn ènìyàn tí ìwọ kò mọ èdè rẹ̀, tí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ kò sì yé ọ.
Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far away, house of Israel,” says the LORD. “It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know and do not understand what they say.
16 Apó-ọfà rẹ sì dàbí isà òkú tí a ṣí gbogbo wọn sì jẹ́ akọni ènìyàn.
Their quiver is an open tomb. They are all mighty men.
17 Wọn yóò jẹ ìkórè rẹ àti oúnjẹ rẹ, àwọn ọmọ rẹ ọkùnrin àti obìnrin, wọn yóò sì jẹ agbo àti ẹran rẹ, wọn yóò jẹ àjàrà àti igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ rẹ. Pẹ̀lú idà ni wọn ó run ìlú tí ìwọ gbẹ́kẹ̀lé.
They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.
18 “Ní ọjọ́ wọ̀n-ọn-nì,” ni Olúwa wí, “Èmi kì yóò pa yín run pátápátá.
“But even in those days,” says the LORD, “I will not make a full end of you.
19 Àti pé, nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn bá sì béèrè wí pé, ‘Kí ni ìdí rẹ̀ tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa fi ṣe gbogbo èyí sí wa?’ Ìwọ yóò sì sọ fún wọn wí pé, ‘Ẹ̀yin ti kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀, ẹ sì ń sin ọlọ́run àjèjì ní ilẹ̀ yín. Nísinsin yìí, ẹ̀yin yóò máa sin àjèjì ní ilẹ̀ tí kì í ṣe tiyín.’
It will happen when you say, ‘Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’
20 “Kéde èyí fún ilé Jakọbu, kí ẹ sì polongo rẹ̀ ní Juda.
“Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
21 Gbọ́ èyí, ẹ̀yin aṣiwèrè àti aláìlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn, tí ó lójú ti kò fi ríran tí ó létí ti kò fi gbọ́rọ̀.
‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and do not see, who have ears, and do not hear:
22 Kò ha yẹ kí ẹ bẹ̀rù mi?” ni Olúwa wí. “Kò ha yẹ kí ẹ̀yin ó wárìrì níwájú mi bí? Mo fi yanrìn pààlà òkun, èyí tí kò le è rékọjá rẹ̀ láéláé. Ìjì lè jà, kò le è borí rẹ̀; wọ́n le è bú, wọn kò le è rékọjá rẹ̀.
Do not you fear me?’ says the LORD; ‘Will not you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail. Though they roar, they still cannot pass over it.’
23 Ṣùgbọ́n, àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí ní ọkàn líle àti ọkàn ọ̀tẹ̀, wọ́n ti yípadà, wọ́n sì ti lọ.
“But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart. They have revolted and gone.
24 Wọn kò sọ fún ara wọn pé, ‘Ẹ jẹ́ ká a bẹ̀rù Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, ẹni tí ó fún wa ní òjò àkọ́rọ̀ àti àrọ̀kúrò òjò ní ìgbà rẹ̀, tí ó fi wá lọ́kàn balẹ̀ nípa ìkórè ọ̀sẹ̀ déédé.’
They do not say in their heart, ‘Let’s now fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season, who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.’
25 Àìṣedéédéé yín mú gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí kúrò, ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yín sì mú kí a fi nǹkan rere dù yín.
“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you.
26 “Láàrín ènìyàn mi ni ìkà ènìyàn wà tí ó wà ní ibùba bí ẹni tí ó ń dẹ ẹyẹ, àti bí àwọn tí ó ń dẹ pàkúté láti mú ènìyàn.
For wicked men are found among my people. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men.
27 Bí àgò tí ó kún fún ẹyẹ, ilé wọn sì kún fún ẹ̀tàn; wọ́n ti di ọlọ́lá àti alágbára,
As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.
28 wọ́n sanra wọ́n sì ń dán. Ìwà búburú wọn kò sì lópin; wọn kò bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún ẹjọ́ àwọn aláìní baba láti borí rẹ̀. Wọn kò jà fún ẹ̀tọ́ àwọn tálákà.
They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They do not plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they do not defend the rights of the needy.
29 Èmi kì yóò ha fi ìyà jẹ wọ́n fún èyí bí?” ni Olúwa wí. “Èmi kì yóò wá gbẹ̀san ara mi lára orílẹ̀-èdè bí èyí bí?
“Should not I punish for these things?” says the LORD. “Should not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30 “Nǹkan ìbànújẹ́ àti ohun ìtara ti ṣẹlẹ̀ ní ilẹ̀ náà.
“An astonishing and horrible thing has happened in the land.
31 Àwọn wòlíì ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ èké, àwọn àlùfáà sì ń ṣe àkóso pẹ̀lú àṣẹ ara wọn, àwọn ènìyàn mi sì ní ìfẹ́ sí èyí, kí ni ẹ̀yin yóò ṣe ní òpin?
The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?
