1 Èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tó tọ wòlíì Jeremiah wá nípa àwọn Filistini, kí ó tó di pé Farao dojúkọ Gasa.
The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh struck Gaza.
2 Báyìí ni Olúwa wí: “Wo bí omi ti ń ru sókè ní àríwá, wọn ó di odò tí ń bo bèbè mọ́lẹ̀. Wọn kò ní borí ilẹ̀ àti ohun gbogbo tó wà lórí rẹ̀, ìlú àti àwọn tó ń gbé nínú wọn. Àwọn ènìyàn yóò kígbe, gbogbo olùgbé ilẹ̀ náà yóò hu
"Thus says Jehovah: 'Look, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is in it, the city and those who dwell in it; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
3 nígbà tí wọ́n bá gbọ́ ìró títẹ̀lé pátákò ẹsẹ̀ ẹṣin alágbára nígbà tí wọ́n bá gbọ́ ariwo kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun ọ̀tá ńlá àti iye kẹ̀kẹ́ wọn. Àwọn baba kò ní lè ran àwọn ọmọ lọ́wọ́; ọwọ́ wọn yóò kákò.
At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers do not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4 Nítorí tí ọjọ́ náà ti pé láti pa àwọn Filistini run, kí a sì mú àwọn tí ó là tí ó lè ran Tire àti Sidoni lọ́wọ́ kúrò. Olúwa ti ṣetán láti pa Filistini run, àwọn tí ó kù ní agbègbè Kafitori.
because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains: for Jehovah will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5 Gasa yóò fá irun orí rẹ̀ nínú ọ̀fọ̀. A ó pa Aṣkeloni lẹ́nu mọ́; ìyókù ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀, ìwọ yóò ti sá ara rẹ lọ́gbẹ́ pẹ́ tó?
Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing, the remnant of their valley: how long will you cut yourself?
6 “Ẹ̀yin kígbe, ‘Yé è, idà Olúwa, yóò ti pẹ́ tó tí ìwọ yóò sinmi? Padà sínú àkọ̀ rẹ; sinmi kí o sì dákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́.’
You sword of Jehovah, "how long will it be before you be quiet? Put up yourself into your sheath; rest, and be still."
7 Ṣùgbọ́n báwo ni yóò ṣe sinmi, nígbà tí Olúwa ti pàṣẹ fún un, nígbà tí ó ti pa á láṣẹ láti dojúkọ Aṣkeloni àti agbègbè rẹ̀.”
How can it be quiet, since Jehovah has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there has he appointed it.'"
