< Jeremiah 4 >
1 “Tí ìwọ yóò bá yí padà, ìwọ Israẹli, padà tọ̀ mí wá,” ni Olúwa wí. “Tí ìwọ yóò bá sì mú ìríra rẹ kúrò níwájú mi, ìwọ kí ó sì rìn kiri.
If you will return, O Israel, says the LORD, return unto me: and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight, then shall you not remove.
2 Tí ó bá jẹ́ lóòtítọ́ àti òdodo ni ìwọ búra. Nítòótọ́ bí Olúwa ti wà láààyè, nígbà náà ni orílẹ̀-èdè yóò di alábùkún fún nípasẹ̀ rẹ, àti nínú rẹ̀ ni wọn yóò ṣògo.”
And you shall swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
3 Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí fún àwọn ènìyàn Juda àti Jerusalẹmu: “Hú gbogbo ilẹ̀ tí ẹ kò lò rí, kí o má sì ṣe gbìn sáàrín ẹ̀gún.
For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
4 Kọ ara rẹ ní ilà sí Olúwa, kọ ọkàn rẹ ní ilà, ẹ̀yin ènìyàn Juda àti gbogbo ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu, bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, ìbínú mi yóò ru jáde yóò sì jó bí iná, nítorí ibi tí o ti ṣe kì yóò sí ẹni tí yóò pa á.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, all of you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5 “Kéde ní Juda, kí o sì polongo ní Jerusalẹmu, kí o sì wí pé: ‘Fun fèrè káàkiri gbogbo ilẹ̀!’ Kí o sì kígbe: ‘Kó ara jọ pọ̀! Jẹ́ kí a sálọ sí ìlú olódi.’
Declare all of you in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow all of you the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
6 Fi àmì láti sálọ sí Sioni hàn, sálọ fún ààbò láìsí ìdádúró. Nítorí èmi ó mú àjálù láti àríwá wá, àní ìparun tí ó burú jọjọ.”
Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
7 Kìnnìún ti sá jáde láti inú ibùgbé rẹ̀, apanirun orílẹ̀-èdè sì ti jáde. Ó ti fi ààyè rẹ̀ sílẹ̀ láti ba ilẹ̀ rẹ̀ jẹ́. Ìlú rẹ yóò di ahoro láìsí olùgbé.
The lion has come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make your land desolate; and your cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
8 Nítorí náà, gbé aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ wọ̀ káàánú kí o sì pohùnréré ẹkún, nítorí ìbínú ńlá Olúwa kò tí ì kúrò lórí wa.
For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and wail: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
9 “Ní ọjọ́ náà,” ni Olúwa wí pé, “Àwọn ọba àti ìjòyè yóò pàdánù ẹ̀mí wọn, àwọn àlùfáà yóò wárìrì, àwọn wòlíì yóò sì fòyà.”
And it shall come to pass at that day, says the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
10 Nígbà náà ni mo sì wí pé, “Háà! Olúwa Olódùmarè, báwo ni ìwọ ti ṣe tan àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí àti Jerusalẹmu jẹ nípa sísọ wí pé, ‘Ìwọ yóò wà ní àlàáfíà,’ nígbà tí o jẹ́ wí pé idà wà ní ọ̀fun wa.”
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, All of you shall have peace; whereas the sword reachs unto the soul.
11 Nígbà náà ni a ó sọ fún Jerusalẹmu àti àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Ẹ̀fúùfù líle láti aṣálẹ̀ fẹ́ lu àwọn ènìyàn mi, kì í ṣe láti sọ di mímọ́.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
12 Ẹ̀fúùfù líle tí ó wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ mi. Báyìí mo kéde ìdájọ́ mi lórí wọn.”
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
13 Wò ó! O ń bọ̀ bí ìkùùkuu kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun rẹ̀ sì wá bí ìjì líle ẹṣin rẹ̀ sì yára ju idì lọ. Ègbé ni fún wa àwa parun.
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
14 Ìwọ Jerusalẹmu, mú búburú kúrò lọ́kàn rẹ kí o sì yè. Yóò ti pẹ́ tó tí ìwọ yóò mú èrò búburú wà ní ọkàn rẹ?
O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?
15 Ohùn kan sì ń kéde ní Dani o ń kókìkí ìparun láti orí òkè Efraimu wá.
For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes affliction from mount Ephraim.
16 “Sọ èyí fún àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, kéde rẹ̀ fún Jerusalẹmu pé: ‘Ọmọ-ogun ọ̀tá ń bọ̀ láti ilẹ̀ jíjìn wá wọ́n sì ń kígbe ogun láti dojúkọ ìlú Juda.
Make all of you mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
17 Wọ́n yí i ká bí ìgbà tí àwọn ọkùnrin bá ń ṣọ́ pápá, nítorí pé ó ti dìtẹ̀ sí mi,’” ni Olúwa wí.
As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she has been rebellious against me, says the LORD.
18 “Ìwà rẹ àti ìṣe rẹ ló fa èyí bá ọ ìjìyà rẹ sì nìyìí. Báwo ló ti ṣe korò tó! Báwo ló ti ṣe gún ọkàn rẹ sí!”
Your way and your doings have procured these things unto you; this is your wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reachs unto your heart.
19 Háà! Ìrora mi, ìrora mi! Mo yí nínú ìrora. Háà, ìrora ọkàn mi! Ọkàn mi lù kìkì nínú mi, n kò le è dákẹ́. Nítorí mo ti gbọ́ ohùn ìpè, mo sì ti gbọ́ igbe ogun.
My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20 Ìparun ń gorí ìparun; gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà sì ṣubú sínú ìparun lọ́gán ni a wó àwọn àgọ́ mi, tí ó jẹ́ ohun ààbò mi níṣẹ́jú kan.
Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
21 Yóò ti pẹ́ tó, tí èmi yóò rí ogun tí èmi yóò sì gbọ́ ìró fèrè?
How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22 “Aṣiwèrè ni àwọn ènìyàn mi; wọn kò mọ̀ mí. Wọ́n jẹ́ aláìgbọ́n ọmọ; wọ́n sì jẹ́ aláìlóye. Wọ́n mọ ibi ni ṣíṣe; wọn kò mọ bí a ti í ṣe rere.”
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are foolish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
23 Mo bojú wo ayé, ó sì wà ní júujùu, ó sì ṣófo àti ní ọ̀run, ìmọ́lẹ̀ wọn kò sì ṣí.
I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 Mo wo àwọn òkè ńlá, wọ́n wárìrì; gbogbo òkè kéékèèké mì jẹ̀jẹ̀.
I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25 Mo wò yíká n kò rí ẹnìkan; gbogbo ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run ló ti fò lọ.
I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 Mo bojú wò, ilẹ̀ eléso, ó sì di aṣálẹ̀ gbogbo àwọn ìlú inú rẹ̀ sì ṣubú sínú ìparun níwájú Olúwa àti níwájú ríru ìbínú rẹ̀.
I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
27 Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí: “Gbogbo ìlú náà yóò sì di ahoro, síbẹ̀ èmi kì yóò pa á run pátápátá.
For thus has the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
28 Nítorí náà, ayé yóò pohùnréré ẹkún àwọn ọ̀run lókè yóò ṣú òòkùn nítorí mo ti sọ, mo sì ti pète rẹ̀ mo ti pinnu, n kì yóò sì yí i padà.”
For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
29 Nípa ariwo àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣin àti àwọn tafàtafà gbogbo ìlú yóò sálọ. Ọ̀pọ̀ sálọ sínú igbó; ọ̀pọ̀ yóò sì gun orí àpáta lọ. Gbogbo ìlú náà sì di ahoro; kò sì ṣí ẹnìkan nínú rẹ̀.
The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
30 Kí ni ò ń ṣe, ìwọ tí o ti di ìjẹ tán? Ìwọ ìbá wọ ara rẹ ní aṣọ òdodo kí o sì fi wúrà ṣe ara rẹ lọ́ṣọ̀ọ́. Àwọn olólùfẹ́ rẹ kẹ́gàn rẹ; wọ́n sì ń lépa ẹ̀mí rẹ.
And when you are spoiled, what will you do? Though you cloth yourself with crimson, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you rent your face with painting, in vain shall you make yourself fair; your lovers will despise you, they will seek your life.
31 Mo gbọ́ ìró kan bí i igbe obìnrin tó ń rọbí, tí ó ń rọbí, ìrora bí i abiyamọ ọmọbìnrin Sioni tí ń pohùnréré ẹkún ara rẹ̀. Tí ó na ọwọ́ rẹ̀ tí ó sì wí pé, “Kíyèsi i mo gbé, nítorí a ti fi ẹ̀mí mi lé àwọn apani lọ́wọ́.”
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
