< Jeremiah 37 >
1 Sedekiah ọmọ Josiah sì jẹ ọba ní ipò Jehoiakini ọmọ Jehoiakimu ẹni tí Nebukadnessari ọba Babeli fi jẹ ọba ní ilẹ̀ Juda.
Now King Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, reigned instead of Coniah, the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made king in the land of Judah.
2 Ṣùgbọ́n àti òun àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ àti àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà kò fetísí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí ó sọ nípa wòlíì Jeremiah.
But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land regarded the words of Jehovah, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
3 Sedekiah ọba sì rán Jehukali ọmọ Ṣelemiah àti Sefaniah ọmọ Maaseiah sí Jeremiah wòlíì wí pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa fún wa.”
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal, the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Pray now to Jehovah our God for us.”
4 Nígbà yìí Jeremiah sì ń wọlé, ó sì ń jáde láàrín àwọn ènìyàn nítorí wọ́n ti fi sínú túbú.
Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not cast him into prison.
5 Àwọn ọmọ-ogun Farao ti jáde kúrò nílẹ̀ Ejibiti àti nígbà tí àwọn ará Babeli tó ń ṣàtìpó ní Jerusalẹmu gbọ́ ìròyìn nípa wọn, wọ́n kúrò ní Jerusalẹmu.
And Pharaoh's army had come forth out of Egypt; and the Chaldaeans, who were besieging Jerusalem, having heard tidings of them, had departed from Jerusalem.
6 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ Jeremiah wòlíì Ọlọ́run wá:
Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
7 “Èyí ni, ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn Israẹli sọ fún ọba àwọn Juda tó rán ọ láti wádìí nípa mi. ‘Àwọn ọmọ-ogun Farao tó jáde láti kún ọ lọ́wọ́ yóò padà sílẹ̀ wọn sí Ejibiti.
Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of me: Behold, the army of Pharaoh, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt, into their own land.
8 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ará Babeli yóò padà láti gbógun ti ìlú. Wọn yóò mú wọn nígbèkùn, wọn yóò sì fi iná jó ìlú náà kanlẹ̀.’
And the Chaldaeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9 “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí, ẹ má ṣe tan ara yín jẹ ní èrò wí pé, ‘Àwọn ará Babeli yóò fi wá sílẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ìdánilójú.’ Wọn kò ní ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.
Thus saith Jehovah: Deceive not yourselves, saying, “The Chaldaeans shall surely depart from us”; for they shall not depart.
10 Kódà tó bá ṣe pé wọn yóò ṣẹ́gun àwọn ọmọ-ogun Babeli tí ń gbóguntì yín àti àwọn tí ìjàǹbá ṣe, tí wọ́n ti fi sílẹ̀ ní ibùdó wọn; wọn yóò jáde láti jó ìlú náà kanlẹ̀.”
For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldaeans that fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, each one in his tent, yet should they rise up and burn this city with fire.
11 Lẹ́yìn tí àwọn ọmọ-ogun Babeli ti kúrò ní Jerusalẹmu nítorí àwọn ọmọ-ogun Farao.
And it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldaeans had marched away from Jerusalem because of the army of Pharaoh,
12 Jeremiah múra láti fi ìlú náà sílẹ̀, láti lọ sí olú ìlú Benjamini láti gba ẹ̀tọ́ rẹ̀ nínú ohun ìní láàrín àwọn ènìyàn tó wà níbẹ̀.
that Jeremiah was going forth from Jerusalem, to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive thence his inheritance among the people.
13 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí wọ́n dé ẹnu ibodè Benjamini, olórí àwọn olùṣọ́ tí orúkọ rẹ ń jẹ́ Irijah ọmọ Ṣelemiah ọmọ Hananiah mú un, ó wí pé, “Ìwọ ń fi ara mọ́ àwọn ará Babeli.”
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Thou art going over to the Chaldaeans.”
14 Jeremiah sọ wí pé, “Èyí kì í ṣe òtítọ́! Èmi kò yapa sí àwọn ará Babeli.” Ṣùgbọ́n Irijah ko gbọ́ tirẹ̀, dípò èyí a mú Jeremiah, ó sì mú un lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ìjòyè.
And Jeremiah said, “It is false; I am not going over to the Chaldaeans.” But he hearkened not to him; so Irijah took Jeremiah and brought him to the princes.
15 Nítorí náà ni àwọn ìjòyè ṣe bínú sí Jeremiah, wọ́n jẹ ẹ́ ní yà, wọ́n tún fi sí túbú nílé Jonatani akọ̀wé nítorí wọ́n ti fi èyí ṣe ilé túbú.
And the princes were enraged against Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that a prison.
16 Wọ́n fi Jeremiah sínú túbú tí ó ṣókùnkùn biribiri; níbi tí ó wà fún ìgbà pípẹ́.
And when Jeremiah had gone into the dungeon, and into the cells, and had remained there a long time,
17 Nígbà náà ni ọba Sedekiah ránṣẹ́ sí i, tí ó sì pàṣẹ pé kí wọ́n mú wá sí ààfin níbi tí ó ti bi í ní ìkọ̀kọ̀ pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀ kan wà láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa?” Jeremiah fèsì pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, wọn ó fi ọ́ lé ọwọ́ ọba Babeli.”
then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out; and the king asked him in his house privately, and said, “Hast thou any word from Jehovah?” And Jeremiah said, “I have.” And he said, “Into the hand of the king of Babylon shalt thou be delivered.”
18 Nígbà náà, Jeremiah sọ fún ọba Sedekiah pé, “Irú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wo ni mo ṣẹ̀ yín, àwọn ìjòyè yín pẹ̀lú àwọn ènìyàn tí ẹ fi sọ mí sínú túbú?
And Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What offence have I committed against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
19 Níbo ni àwọn wòlíì yín tí wọ́n ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ fún un yín wí pé ọba Babeli kò ní gbóguntì yín wá?
And where are your prophets, who prophesied to you, saying, “The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?”
20 Ṣùgbọ́n ní báyìí, olúwa mi ọba, èmí bẹ̀ ọ. Jẹ́ kí n mú ẹ̀dùn ọkàn mi tọ̀ ọ́ wá; má ṣe rán mi padà sí ilé Jonatani akọ̀wé, àfi kí n kú síbẹ̀.”
But now hear, I pray thee, my lord the king! let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee, and cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there!
21 Ọba Sedekiah wá pàṣẹ pé kí wọ́n fi Jeremiah sínú àgbàlá àwọn ẹ̀ṣọ́, àti kí wọn sì fún ní àkàrà ní ọjọ́ kọ̀ọ̀kan títí tí àkàrà tó wà ní ìlú yóò fi tán; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Jeremiah wà nínú àgbàlá náà.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city should be consumed. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
