< Jeremiah 20 >
1 Ní ìgbà tí àlùfáà Paṣuri ọmọkùnrin Immeri olórí àwọn ìjòyè tẹmpili Olúwa gbọ́ tí Jeremiah ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ nǹkan wọ̀nyí.
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who [was] also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 Ó mú kí wọ́n lù wòlíì Jeremiah, kí wọ́n sì fi sínú túbú tí ó wà ní òkè ẹnu-ọ̀nà ti Benjamini ní tẹmpili Olúwa.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that [were] in the high gate of Benjamin, which [was] by the house of the LORD.
3 Ní ọjọ́ kejì tí Paṣuri tú u sílẹ̀ nínú túbú, Jeremiah sì sọ fún un wí pé, “Orúkọ Olúwa fun ọ kì í ṣe Paṣuri bí kò ṣe ìpayà.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
4 Nítorí èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa sọ. Èmi yóò mú ọ di ẹ̀rùjẹ̀jẹ̀ sí ara rẹ àti sí gbogbo àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ. Ní ojú ara rẹ, ìwọ yóò sì rí tí wọ́n ṣubú nípa idà ọ̀tá wọn. Èmi yóò fi gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá Juda lé ọba Babeli lọ́wọ́, òun yóò sì kó wọn lọ sí Babeli tàbí kí ó pa wọ́n.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold [it: ] and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 Èmi yóò jọ̀wọ́ gbogbo ọrọ̀ inú ìlú yìí fún ọ̀tá wọn. Gbogbo ìní wọ́n gbogbo ọlá ọba Juda. Wọn yóò sì ru ìkógun lọ sí Babeli.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 Àti ìwọ Paṣuri, gbogbo ènìyàn inú ilé rẹ yóò sì lọ ṣe àtìpó ní Babeli. Níbẹ̀ ni ìwọ yóò sì kú sí, tí wọn yóò sì sin ọ́ síbẹ̀, ìwọ àti gbogbo àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ tí ìwọ ti sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ irọ́ fún.”
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
7 Olúwa, o tàn mí jẹ́, o sì ṣẹ́gun. Mo di ẹni ẹ̀gàn ní gbogbo ọjọ́, gbogbo ènìyàn fi mí ṣẹlẹ́yà.
O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8 Nígbàkígbà tí mo bá sọ̀rọ̀, èmi sì kígbe síta èmi á sọ nípa ipá àti ìparun. Nítorí náà, ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ti mú àbùkù àti ẹ̀gàn bá mi ni gbogbo ìgbà.
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n bí mo bá sọ pé, “Èmi kì yóò dárúkọ rẹ tàbí sọ nípa orúkọ rẹ̀ mọ́, ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ ń bẹ bi iná tí ń jó nínú mi nínú egungun mi, agara dá mi ní inú mi nítòótọ́ èmi kò lè ṣe é.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But [his word] was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not [stay].
10 Mo gbọ́ sísọ ọ̀rọ̀ kẹ́lẹ́kẹ́lẹ́, ìbẹ̀rù ni ibi gbogbo. Fi í sùn! Jẹ́ kí a fi sùn! Gbogbo àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ mi ń dúró kí èmi ṣubú, wọ́n sì ń sọ pé, bóyá yóò jẹ́ di títàn, nígbà náà ni àwa yóò borí rẹ̀, àwa yóò sì gba ẹ̀san wa lára rẹ̀.”
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, [say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, [saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa ń bẹ pẹ̀lú mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí akọni ẹlẹ́rù. Nítorí náà, àwọn tí ó ń lépa mi yóò kọsẹ̀, wọn kì yóò sì borí. Wọn yóò kùnà, wọn yóò sì gba ìtìjú púpọ̀. Àbùkù wọn kì yóò sì di ohun ìgbàgbé.
But the LORD [is] with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: [their] everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun, ìwọ tí ó ń dán olódodo wò tí o sì ń ṣe àyẹ̀wò ọkàn àti ẹ̀mí fínní fínní, jẹ́ kí èmi kí ó rí ìgbẹ̀san rẹ lórí wọn, nítorí ìwọ ni mo gbé ara mi lé.
But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, [and] seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
13 Kọrin sí Olúwa! Fi ìyìn fún Olúwa! Ó gba ẹ̀mí àwọn aláìní lọ́wọ́ àwọn ẹni búburú.
Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 Ègbé ni fún ọjọ́ tí a bí mi! Kí ọjọ́ tí ìyá mi bí mi má ṣe di ti ìbùkún.
Cursed [be] the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 Ègbé ni fún ọkùnrin tí ó mú ìròyìn wá fún baba mi, tí ó mú kí ó yọ̀, tí ó sì sọ wí pé, “A bí ọmọ kan fún ọ—ọmọkùnrin!”
Cursed [be] the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
16 Kí ọkùnrin náà dàbí ìlú tí Olúwa gbàkóso lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ láìkáàánú Kí o sì gbọ́ ariwo ọ̀fọ̀ ní àárọ̀, ariwo ogun ní ọ̀sán.
And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 Nítorí kò pa mí nínú, kí ìyá mi sì dàbí títóbi ibojì mi, kí ikùn rẹ̀ sì di títí láé.
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb [to be] always great [with me].
18 Èéṣe tí mo jáde nínú ikùn, láti rí wàhálà àti ọ̀fọ̀ àti láti parí ayé mi nínú ìtìjú?
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
