< Jeremiah 2 >
1 Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sì tọ̀ mí wá wí pé:
Moreover, the woorde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
2 “Lọ kí o sì kéde sí etí Jerusalẹmu pé: “Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, “‘Èmi rántí ìṣeun ìgbà èwe rẹ, ìfẹ́ ìgbéyàwó rẹ àti nígbà tí ìwọ tẹ̀lé mi nínú ijù, nínú ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀.
Goe, and crie in the eares of Ierusalem, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, I remember thee, with the kindenes of thy youth and the loue of thy marriage, when thou wentest after me in the wildernes in a lande that was not sowen.
3 Israẹli jẹ́ mímọ́ sí Olúwa, àkọ́kọ́ èso ìkórè rẹ̀, gbogbo ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó jẹ run ni a ó dá lẹ́bi, ibi yóò sì wá sí orí wọn,’” bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa wí.
Israel was as a thing halowed vnto the Lord, and his first fruits: all they that eat it, shall offend: euil shall come vpon them, saith the Lord.
4 Gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa, ẹ̀yin ìdílé Jakọbu àti gbogbo ẹ̀yin ará ilé Israẹli.
Heare ye the word of the Lord, O house of Iaakob, and all the families of the house of Israel.
5 Báyìí ni Olúwa wí: “Irú àìṣedéédéé wo ni baba yín rí lọ́wọ́ mi, tí wọ́n fi jìnnà sí mi? Wọ́n tẹ̀lé àwọn òrìṣà asán, àwọn fúnra wọn sì di asán.
Thus sayeth the Lord, What iniquitie haue your fathers founde in mee, that they are gone farre from mee, and haue walked after vanitie, and are become vaine?
6 Wọn kò béèrè, ‘Níbo ni Olúwa wà, tí ó mú wa jáde láti ilẹ̀ Ejibiti wá, tí ó mú wa la aginjù já, tí ó mú wa la àárín pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ àti ihò, ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀ àti òkùnkùn biribiri, ilẹ̀ ibi tí ẹnikẹ́ni kò là kọjá, tí ẹnikẹ́ni kò sì tẹ̀dó sí?’
For they saide not, Where is the Lord that brought vs vp out of the lande of Egypt? that led vs through the wildernesse, through a desert, and waste land, through a drie land, and by the shadow of death, by a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7 Èmi mú yín wá sí ilẹ̀ ọlọ́ràá láti máa jẹ èso ibẹ̀ àti ọrọ̀ rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin wọ inú rẹ̀, ẹ sì bà á jẹ́, ẹ sì sọ ogún mi di ohun ìríra.
And I brought you into a plentifull countrey, to eat the fruit thereof, and the commodities of the same: but when yee entred, yee defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8 Àwọn àlùfáà kò béèrè wí pé, ‘Níbo ni Olúwa wà?’ Àwọn tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú òfin kò si mọ̀ mí, àwọn olùṣọ́ sì ṣẹ̀ sí mi. Àwọn wòlíì sì ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀ nípa òrìṣà Baali, wọ́n sì ń tẹ̀lé àwọn òrìṣà asán.
The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that should minister the Lawe, knewe me not: the pastours also offended against me, and the Prophets prophesied in Baal, and went after things that did not profite.
9 “Nítorí náà, mo fi ẹ̀sùn kàn yín lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i,” ni Olúwa wí. “Èmi ó sì fi ẹ̀sùn kan àwọn ọmọ ọwọ́ rẹ.
Wherefore I wil yet plead with you, saith the Lord, and I will pleade with your childrens children.
10 Rékọjá lọ sí erékùṣù àwọn ara Kittimu, kí ẹ sì wò ó, ránṣẹ́ lọ sí ìlú Kedari, kí ẹ sì kíyèsi gidigidi; kí ẹ wò bí irú nǹkan báyìí bá ń bẹ níbẹ̀?
For goe ye to the yles of Chittim, and beholde, and sende vnto Kedar. and take diligent heede, and see whether there be such things.
11 Orílẹ̀-èdè kan ha á pa ọlọ́run rẹ̀ dà? (Síbẹ̀, wọ́n kì í ṣe iṣẹ́ ọlọ́run.) Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn mi ti pààrọ̀ Ọlọ́run ògo wọn fún àwọn ère tí kò níyì.
Hath any nation changed their gods, which yet are no gods? but my people haue chaged their glorie, for that which doeth not profite.
12 Àwọn ènìyàn mi ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ méjì kí ẹ sì wárìrì pẹ̀lú ìbẹ̀rù ńlá,” ni Olúwa wí.
O yee heauens, be astonied at this: bee afraid and vtterly confounded, sayeth the Lord.
13 “Àwọn ènìyàn mi ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ méjì, wọ́n ti kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀, Èmi orísun omi ìyè, wọ́n sì ti ṣe àmù, àmù fífọ́ tí kò lè gba omi dúró.
For my people haue committed two euils: they haue forsaken mee the fountaine of liuing waters, to digge them pittes, euen broken pittes, that can holde no water.
14 Israẹli ha á jẹ́ ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ ẹrú nípa ìbí? Kí ló ha a dé tí ó fi di ìkógun?
Is Israel a seruaunt, or is hee borne in the house? why then is he spoiled?
15 Àwọn kìnnìún ké ramúramù; wọ́n sì ń bú mọ́ wọn. Wọ́n ti fi ilẹ̀ rẹ̀ ṣòfò; ìlú rẹ̀ ti di jíjóná, ó sì ti di ìkọ̀sílẹ̀.
The lions roared vpon him and yelled, and they haue made his land waste: his cities are burnt without an inhabitant.
16 Bákan náà, àwọn ọkùnrin Memfisi àti Tafanesi wọ́n ti fa adé orí rẹ yọ.
Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes haue broken thine head.
17 Ẹ̀yin kò ha a ti fa èyí sórí ara yín nípa kíkọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run sílẹ̀ nígbà tí ó tọ́ ọ lójú ọ̀nà?
Hast not thou procured this vnto thy selfe, because thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, when he led thee by the way?
18 Kí ló dé tí o ṣe wá lọ Ejibiti láti lọ mu omi ní Ṣihori? Kí ló dé tí o sì fi lọ sí Asiria láti lọ mú omi ni odò Eufurate náà?
And what hast thou now to do in the way of Egypt? to drinke the water of Nilus? or what makest thou in the way of Asshur? to drinke the water of the Riuer?
19 Iṣẹ́ búburú yín yóò fìyà jẹ yín ìpadàsẹ́yìn rẹ yóò sì bá ọ wí mọ̀ kí o sì rí i wí pé ibi àti ohun búburú yóò sì jẹ́ tìrẹ nígbà tí o ti kọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run sílẹ̀, ẹ kò sì ní ìbẹ̀rù fún mi,” ni Olúwa, Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
Thine owne wickednes shall correct thee, and thy turnings backe shall reprooue thee: know therefore and beholde, that it is an euil thing, and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my feare is not in thee, sayeth the Lord God of hostes.
For of olde time I haue broken thy yoke, and burst thy bondes, and thou saidest, I will no more transgresse, but like an harlot thou runnest about vpon al hie hilles, and vnder all greene trees.
Yet I had planted thee, a noble vine, whose plants were all natural: howe then art thou turned vnto me into the plants of a strange vine?
22 Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé o wẹ ara rẹ pẹ̀lú sódà tí o sì lo ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọṣẹ síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ èérí ni ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ níwájú,” ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí.
Though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much sope, yet thine iniquitie is marked before me, sayeth the Lord God.
23 “Báwo ni ìwọ ṣe wí pé, ‘Èmi kò ṣe aláìmọ́, Èmi kò sá à tẹ̀lé àwọn Baali’? Wo bí o ṣe hùwà ní àfonífojì; wo ohun tí o ṣe. Ìwọ jẹ́ abo ìbákasẹ tí ń sá síyìn-ín sọ́hùn-ún.
Howe canst thou say, I am not polluted, neither haue I followed Baalim? beholde thy waies in the valley, and know, what thou hast done: thou art like a swift dromedarie, that runneth by his waies.
24 Kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ igbó tí ń gbé aginjù tí ń fa ẹ̀fúùfù ìfẹ́ sí i mu rẹ, ta ni ó le è mú dúró ní àkókò rẹ̀? Kí gbogbo àwọn akọ ẹran tí o wá a kiri kì ó má ṣe dá ara wọn lágara, nítorí wọn yóò rí ní àkókò oṣù rẹ̀.
And as a wilde asse, vsed to the wildernesse, that snuffeth vp the winde by occasion at her pleasure: who can turne her backe? all they that seeke her, will not wearie themselues, but wil finde her in her moneth.
25 Dá ẹsẹ̀ dúró láìwọ bàtà, àti ọ̀fun rẹ nínú òǹgbẹ. Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ wí pé, ‘Asán ni! Èmi fẹ́ràn àwọn ọlọ́run àjèjì, àwọn ni èmi yóò tọ̀ lẹ́yìn.’
Keepe thou thy feete from barenes, and thy throte from thirst: but thou saidest desperately, No, for I haue loued strangers, and them will I follow.
26 “Gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ṣe ń dójútì olè nígbà tí a bá mú u, bẹ́ẹ̀ náà ni ojú yóò ti ilé Israẹli— àwọn ọba àti àwọn ìjòyè wọn, àwọn àlùfáà àti wòlíì wọn pẹ̀lú.
As the theefe is ashamed, when he is foud, so is the house of Israel ashamed, they, their kings, their princes and their Priests, and their Prophets,
27 Wọ́n sọ fún igi pé, ‘Ìwọ ni baba mi,’ àti sí òkúta wí pé, ‘Ìwọ ni ó bí mi,’ wọ́n ti kọ ẹ̀yìn wọn sí mi, wọn kò kọ ojú sí mi síbẹ̀ nígbà tí wọ́n bá wà nínú ìṣòro, wọn yóò wí pé, ‘Wá kí o sì gbà wá!’
Saying to a tree, Thou art my father, and to a stone, Thou hast begotten me: for they haue turned their back vnto me, and not their face: but in ye time of their troble they wil say, Arise, and help vs.
28 Níbo wá ni àwọn ọlọ́run tí ẹ ṣe fúnra yín ha a wà? Jẹ́ kí wọ́n wá kí wọ́n sì gbà yín nígbà tí ẹ bá wà nínú ìṣòro! Nítorí pé ẹ̀yin ní àwọn ọlọ́run púpọ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ ti ṣe ni àwọn ìlú, ìwọ Juda.
But where are thy gods, that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can helpe thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the nomber of thy cities, are thy gods, O Iudah.
29 “Kí ló dé tí o ṣe wá ń fi ẹ̀sùn kàn mí? Gbogbo yín ni ó ti ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi,” ni Olúwa wí.
Wherefore wil ye pleade with me? ye all haue rebelled against me, sayeth the Lord.
30 “Nínú asán mo fìyà jẹ àwọn ènìyàn yín, wọn kò sì gba ìbáwí. Idà yín ti pa àwọn wòlíì yín run, gẹ́gẹ́ bí kìnnìún tí ń bú ramúramù.
I haue smitten your children in vaine, they receiued no correction: your owne sworde hath deuoured your Prophets like a destroying lyon.
31 “Ẹ̀yin ìran yìí, ẹ kíyèsi ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa: “Mo ha ti di aginjù sí Israẹli tàbí mo jẹ ilẹ̀ olókùnkùn biribiri? Èéṣe tí àwọn ènìyàn mi ṣe wí pé, ‘A ní àǹfààní láti máa rìn kiri; àwa kì yóò tọ̀ ọ́ wá mọ́?’
O generation, take heede to the worde of the Lord: haue I bene as a wildernesse vnto Israel? or a lande of darkenesse? Wherefore sayeth my people then, We are lordes, we will come no more vnto thee?
32 Wúńdíá ha le gbàgbé ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ rẹ̀, tàbí ìyàwó ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ ìgbéyàwó rẹ̀? Síbẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn mi ti gbàgbé mi ní ọjọ́ àìníye.
Can a maid forget her ornament, or a bride her attire? yet my people haue forgotten me, daies without number.
33 Ìwọ ti jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n tó nípa ọ̀rọ̀ ìfẹ́! Àwọn obìnrin búburú yóò kẹ́kọ̀ọ́ nípa ọ̀nà rẹ.
Why doest thou prepare thy way, to seeke amitie? euen therefore will I teach thee, that thy waies are wickednesse.
34 Lórí aṣọ rẹ ni wọ́n bá ẹ̀jẹ̀ àwọn tálákà aláìṣẹ̀, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ìwọ kò ká wọn mọ́ níbi tí wọ́n ti ń rùn wọlé. Síbẹ̀ nínú gbogbo èyí
Also in thy wings is founde the bloud of the soules of ye poore innocents: I haue not found it in holes, but vpon all these places.
35 ìwọ sọ wí pé, ‘Èmi jẹ́ aláìṣẹ̀; kò sì bínú sí mi.’ Èmi yóò mú ìdájọ́ mi wá sórí rẹ nítorí pé ìwọ wí pé, ‘Èmi kò dẹ́ṣẹ̀.’
Yet thou saiest, Because I am giltles, surely his wrath shall turne from mee: beholde, I will enter with thee into iudgement, because thou saiest, I haue not sinned.
36 Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ń lọ káàkiri láti yí ọ̀nà rẹ padà? Ejibiti yóò dójútì ọ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí i ti Asiria.
Why runnest thou about so much to change thy waies? for thou shalt be confounded of Egypt, as thou art confounded of Asshur.
37 Ìwọ yóò sì fi ibẹ̀ sílẹ̀ pẹ̀lú kíkáwọ́ rẹ lé orí rẹ, nítorí pé Olúwa ti kọ̀ àwọn tí ìwọ gbẹ́kẹ̀lé sílẹ̀, kì yóò sí ìrànlọ́wọ́ kankan fún ọ láti ọ̀dọ̀ wọn.
For thou shalt goe foorth from thence, and thine hands vpon thine head, because the Lord hath reiected thy confidence, and thou shalt not prosper thereby.
