< Isaiah 47 >

1 “Sọ̀kalẹ̀, jókòó nínú eruku, wúńdíá ọmọbìnrin Babeli; jókòó ní ilẹ̀ láìsí ìtẹ́, ọmọbìnrin àwọn ará Babeli. A kì yóò pè ọ́ ní aláìlókun àti ẹlẹgẹ́ mọ́.
Descend, sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon! Sit on the ground. There is no throne for the daughter of the Chaldeans. For you shall no longer be called delicate and tender.
2 Mú òkúta-ọlọ kí o sì lọ ìyẹ̀fun; mú ìbòjú rẹ kúrò. Ká aṣọ ẹsẹ̀ rẹ sókè, ká aṣọ itan, kí o sì la odò wọ̀n-ọn-nì kọjá.
Take a millstone and grind meal. Uncover your shame, bare your shoulder, reveal your legs, cross the streams.
3 Ìhòhò rẹ ni a ó sí síta àti ìtìjú rẹ ni a ó ṣí sílẹ̀. Èmi yóò sì gba ẹ̀san, Èmi kì yóò sì dá ẹnìkan sí.”
Your disgrace will be revealed, and your shame will be seen. I will seize vengeance, and no man will withstand me.
4 Olùràpadà wa Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun ni orúkọ rẹ̀ òun ni Ẹni Mímọ́ Israẹli.
Our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
5 “Jókòó ní ìdákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́, lọ sínú òkùnkùn, ọmọbìnrin àwọn ará Babeli; a kì yóò pè ọ́ ní ọbabìnrin àwọn ilẹ̀ ọba mọ́.
Sit in silence, and enter into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no longer be called the noblewoman of kingdoms.
6 Inú bí mi sí àwọn ènìyàn mi tí mo sì ba ogún mi jẹ́, mo fi wọ́n lé ọ lọ́wọ́, Ìwọ kò sì síjú àánú wò wọ́n. Lórí àwọn arúgbó pẹ̀lú ní o gbé àjàgà tí ó wúwo lé.
I was angry with my people. I have polluted my inheritance, and I have given them into your hand. You have not shown mercy to them. You have greatly increased the burden of your yoke upon the elders.
7 Ìwọ wí pé, ‘Èmi yóò tẹ̀síwájú títí láé— ọbabìnrin ayérayé!’ Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ kò kíyèsi nǹkan wọ̀nyí tàbí kí o ronú nípa ohun tí ó lè ṣẹlẹ̀.
And you have said: “I will be a noblewoman forever.” You have not set these things upon your heart, and you have not remembered your end.
8 “Nísinsin yìí, tẹ́tí sílẹ̀, ìwọ oníwọ̀ra ẹ̀dá tí o kẹ̀tẹ̀ǹfẹ̀ nínú ààbò rẹ tí o sì ń sọ fún ara rẹ pé, ‘Èmi ni, kò sì ṣí ẹlòmíràn lẹ́yìn mi. Èmi kì yóò di opó tàbí kí n pàdánù àwọn ọmọ.’
And now, hear these things, you who are delicate and have confidence, who say in your heart: “I am, and there is no one greater than me. I will not sit as a widow, and I will not know barrenness.”
9 Méjèèjì yìí ni yóò wá sórí rẹ láìpẹ́ jọjọ, ní ọjọ́ kan náà: pípàdánù ọmọ àti dídi opó. Wọn yóò wá sórí rẹ ní ẹ̀kúnrẹ́rẹ́, pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú àwọn ìṣe oṣó rẹ àti àwọn èpè rẹ tí ko lágbára.
These two things will suddenly overwhelm you in one day: barrenness and widowhood. All things shall overwhelm you, because of the multitude of your sorceries and because of the great cruelty of your enchantments.
10 Ìwọ ti ní ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé nínú ìwà ìkà rẹ ó sì ti wí pé, ‘Kò sí ẹni tí ó rí mi?’ Ọgbọ́n àti òye rẹ ti ṣì ọ́ lọ́nà nígbà tí o wí fún ara rẹ pé, ‘Èmi ni, kò sí ẹlòmíràn lẹ́yìn mi.’
And you have trusted in your malice, and you have said: “There is no one who sees me.” Your wisdom and your knowledge, these have deceived you. And you have said in your heart: “I am, and beside me there is no other.”
11 Ìparun yóò dé bá ọ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìwọ kì yóò mọ ọ̀nà láti ré e kúrò. Àjálù kan yóò ṣubú lù ọ́ tí o kì yóò le è fi ètùtù ré kúrò; òfò kan tí o kò le faradà ni yóò wá lójijì sí oríì rẹ.
Evil will overwhelm you, and you will not notice its rising. And calamity will fall violently over you, and you will not be able to avert it. You will suddenly be overwhelmed by a misery such as you have never known.
12 “Tẹ̀síwájú nígbà náà, pẹ̀lú àfọ̀ṣẹ rẹ àti pẹ̀lú ìwà oṣó rẹ gbogbo, tí o ti ń ṣiṣẹ́ fún láti ìgbà èwe rẹ wá. Bóyá o le è ṣàṣeyọrí, bóyá o le è dá rúgúdù sílẹ̀.
Stand with your incantations, and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth, as if somehow it might benefit you, or as if it were able to make you stronger.
13 Gbogbo ìmọ̀ràn tí o ti gbà ni ó ti sọ ọ́ di akúrẹtẹ̀! Jẹ́ kí àwọn awòràwọ̀ rẹ bọ́ síwájú, àwọn awòràwọ̀ tí wọ́n sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ láti oṣù dé oṣù, jẹ́ kí wọ́n gbà ọ́ lọ́wọ́ ohun tí ó ń bọ̀ wá bá ọ.
You have failed in the multitude of your plans! Let the seers stand and save you, those who were contemplating the stars, and figuring the months, so that from these they might announce to you the things to come.
Behold, they have become like stubble. Fire has consumed them. They will not free themselves from the power of the flames. These are not coals by which they may be warmed, nor is this a fire which they may sit beside.
15 Gbogbo ohun tí wọ́n lè ṣe fún ọ nìyìí gbogbo èyí ní o tí ṣíṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú u rẹ̀ tí o sì ti ń rù kiri láti ìgbà èwe. Ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan wọn ń lọ nínú àṣìṣe rẹ̀; kò sí ẹyọ ẹnìkan tí ó lè gbà ọ́.
So have all these things, in which you have labored, become to you. Your merchants from your youth, each one has erred in his own way. There is no one who can save you.
