< Isaiah 36 >

1 Ní ọdún kẹrìnlá ìjọba Hesekiah, Sennakeribu ọba Asiria kọlu gbogbo àwọn ìlú olódi ní ilẹ̀ Juda ó sì kó gbogbo wọn.
Now it happened in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah, and captured them.
2 Lẹ́yìn náà, ọba Asiria rán olórí ogun rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ọmọ-ogun láti Lakiṣi sí ọba Hesekiah ní Jerusalẹmu. Nígbà tí ọ̀gágun náà dúró níbi ojúṣàn adágún ti apá òkè, ní ojú ọ̀nà sí pápá alágbàfọ̀,
The king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to king Hezekiah with a large army. He stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool on the highway to the Launderers' Field.
3 Ṣebna Eliakimu ọmọ Hilkiah alábojútó ààfin, Ṣebna akọ̀wé, àti Joah ọmọ Asafu akọ̀wé jáde lọ pàdé rẹ̀.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder came out to him.
4 Ọ̀gágun náà sọ fún wọn wí pé, “Ẹ sọ fún Hesekiah, “‘Èyí yìí ni ohun tí ọba ńlá, ọba Asiria sọ pé: Lórí i kí ni ìwọ gbé ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé tìrẹ yìí lé?
Rabshakeh said to them, "Now tell Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, "What confidence is this in which you trust?
5 Ìwọ sọ wí pé ìwọ ní ète àti agbára ogun—ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ ń sọ ọ̀rọ̀ asán. Ta ni ìwọ gbẹ́kẹ̀lé tí ìwọ fi ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi?
Do you think that empty words are strategy and power for war? Now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
6 Wò ó nísinsin yìí, ìwọ gbẹ́kẹ̀lé Ejibiti ẹ̀rún igi ọ̀pá lásán tí í gún ni lọ́wọ́ tí í sì í dọ́gbẹ́ sí ni lára tí a bá gbára lé e! Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Farao ọba Ejibiti sí àwọn tí ó bá gbẹ́kẹ̀lé e.
Look, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
7 Bí o bá sì sọ fún mi pé, “Àwa gbẹ́kẹ̀lé Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa,” kì í ṣe òun ni Hesekiah ti mú àwọn ibi gíga àti pẹpẹ rẹ̀ kúrò, tí ó sì wí fún Juda àti Jerusalẹmu pé, “Ẹ̀yin gbọdọ̀ sìn níwájú pẹpẹ yìí”?
But if you tell me, 'We trust in the LORD our God,' isn't that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, 'You shall worship before this altar?'"
8 “‘Ẹ wá nísinsin yìí, bá ọ̀gá mi pa ìmọ̀ pọ̀, ọba Asiria, èmi yóò fún ọ ní ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ẹṣin bí ìwọ bá le è fi agẹṣin lé wọn lórí!
Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
9 Báwo ni ẹ ṣe lè lé ẹyọ kan ṣoṣo padà nínú èyí tí ó kéré jù nínú àwọn balógun olúwa mi, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ẹ gbẹ́kẹ̀lé Ejibiti fún kẹ̀kẹ́-ẹṣin àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣin?
How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
10 Síwájú sí i, ǹjẹ́ mo wa lè wá bá ilẹ̀ yìí jà kí n sì pa á run láìsí Olúwa? Olúwa fún rara rẹ̀ ló sọ pé kí n bá orílẹ̀-èdè yìí jà kí n sì pa á run.’”
Have I come up now without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said to me, "Go up against this land, and destroy it."'"
11 Lẹ́yìn náà ni Eliakimu, Ṣebna àti Joah sọ fún ọ̀gágun náà pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ máa bá àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ sọ̀rọ̀ ní èdè Aramaiki, nítorí pé àwa gbọ́ ọ. Má ṣe bá wa sọ̀rọ̀ ní èdè Heberu ní etí àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wà lórí ògiri mọ́.”
Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it; and do not speak to us in the Jews' language in the hearing of the people who are on the wall."
12 Ṣùgbọ́n aláṣẹ dáhùn pé, “Ṣé fún ọ̀gá rẹ àti ìwọ nìkan ní ọ̀gá mi rán mi sí láti sọ àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí kì í sì í ṣe fún àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó jókòó lórí odi ni gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìwọ, ni yóò ní láti jẹ ìgbẹ́ ará wọn kí wọ́n sì mu ìtọ̀ ará wọn?”
But Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?"
13 Lẹ́yìn náà ni ọ̀gágun náà dìde tí ó sì ké síta ní èdè Heberu pé, “Ẹ gbọ́ àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ ọba ńlá, ọba Asiria!
Then Rabshakeh stood, and called out with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 Ohun tí ọba wí nìyìí, Ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí Hesekiah tàn yín jẹ. Òun kò le è gbà yín sílẹ̀!
Thus says the king, 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.
15 Ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí Hesekiah rọ̀ yín láti gbẹ́kẹ̀lé Olúwa nígbà tí ó sọ pé, ‘Olúwa yóò kúkú gbà wá; a kì yóò fi ìlú yìí lé ọba Asiria lọ́wọ́.’
Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, "The LORD will surely deliver us. This city won't be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."'
16 “Ẹ má ṣe tẹ́tí sí Hesekiah. Ohun tí ọba Asiria wí nìyìí. Ẹ fi ẹ̀bùn bá mi rẹ́, kí ẹ sì jáde tọ̀ mí wá. Lẹ́yìn náà, ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan yín yóò sì jẹ nínú àjàrà àti igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ rẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni yóò sì mu omi nínú kànga rẹ̀,
Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria, 'Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and each of you eat from his vine, and each one from his fig tree, and each one of you drink the waters of his own cistern;
17 títí tí èmi yóò fi mú un yín lọ sí ilẹ̀ kan tí ó dàbí i tiyín, ilẹ̀ tí ó ní irúgbìn oníhóró àti wáìnì tuntun, ilẹ̀ tí ó ní àkàrà àti ọgbà àjàrà.
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
18 “Ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí Hesekiah ṣì yín lọ́nà nígbà tí ó sọ wí pé, ‘Olúwa yóò gbà wá.’ Ǹjẹ́ ọlọ́run orílẹ̀-èdè kan ha ti gbà á kúrò lọ́wọ́ ọba Asiria bí?
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, "The LORD will deliver us." Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria?
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Iwah? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?
Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'"
21 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn náà dákẹ́ rọ́rọ́ wọn kò sì mú èsì kankan wá, nítorí ọba ti pàṣẹ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe dá a lóhùn.”
But they remained silent, and said nothing in reply, for the king's commandment was, "Do not answer him."
22 Lẹ́yìn náà ni Eliakimu ọmọ Hilkiah alákòóso ààfin, Ṣebna akọ̀wé àti Joah ọmọ Asafu akọ̀wé àkọsílẹ̀ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Hesekiah pẹ̀lú aṣọ wọn ní fífàya, wọ́n sì sọ ohun tí ọ̀gágun ti wí.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
