< Isaiah 29 >

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel the city against which David fought: year has been added to year, the solemnities have unfolded.
2 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ èmi yóò dó ti Arieli òun yóò ṣọ̀fọ̀ yóò sì sọkún, òun yóò sì dàbí pẹpẹ ọkàn sí mi.
And I will surround Ariel with siege works, and it will be in sorrow and mourning, and it will be like Ariel to me.
3 Èmi yóò sì wà ní bùba yí ọ ká níbi gbogbo, Èmi yóò sì fi ilé ìṣọ́ yí ọ ká, Èmi yóò sì fi iṣẹ́ ìdó ti ni mi dojúkọ ọ́.
And I will surround you like a sphere all around you, and I will raise up a rampart against you, and I will set up fortifications to blockade you.
4 Ní ìrẹ̀sílẹ̀, ìwọ ó sì máa sọ̀rọ̀ láti ilẹ̀ wá; ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ yóò sì máa kùn jáde láti inú erùpẹ̀. Ohun rẹ yóò máa jáde bí i ti ẹnìkan tó ní ẹ̀mí àfọ̀ṣẹ láti ilẹ̀ jáde wá, láti inú erùpẹ̀ ni ohùn rẹ yóò máa wá wúyẹ́wúyẹ́.
You will be brought low. You will speak from the ground, and your eloquence will be heard from the dirt. And, from the ground, your voice will be like that of the python, and your eloquence will mumble from the dirt.
5 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ, yóò dàbí yanrìn kíkúnná, agbo àwọn aláìláàánú bí ìyàngbò tí a fẹ́ dànù. Lójijì, ní ìṣẹ́jú kan,
And the multitude of those who fan you will be like fine dust. And the multitude of those who have prevailed against you will be like embers fading away.
6 Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun yóò wá pẹ̀lú àrá àti ilẹ̀-rírì àti ariwo ńlá, àti ẹ̀fúùfù líle àti iná ajónirun.
And this will happen suddenly and swiftly. It will be visited from the Lord of hosts with thunder and earthquakes, and with the great noise of a whirlwind and a storm, and with a flame of devouring fire.
7 Lẹ́yìn náà, ọ̀gọ̀ọ̀rọ̀ ènìyàn tí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó bá Arieli jà, tí ó dojú ìjà kọ òun àti ilé olódi rẹ̀ tí ó sì dó tì í, yóò dàbí ẹni pé nínú àlá, bí ìran ní òru
And the multitude of all the nations that have struggled against Ariel will be like the dream of a vision by night, along with all who have battled, and besieged, and prevailed against it.
8 àti bí ìgbà tí ẹni tí ebi ń pa ń lá àlá pé òun ń jẹun, ṣùgbọ́n ó jí, ebi rẹ̀ sì wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀; tàbí bí ìgbà tí ẹni tí òǹgbẹ ń gbẹ lá àlá pé òun ń mu omi, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ó jí, sì wò ó, ó dákú, òǹgbẹ sì ń gbẹ ọkàn rẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni yóò sì rí fún ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ orílẹ̀-èdè tí ń bá òkè Sioni jà.
And it will be like one who is hungry and dreams of eating, but, when he has been awakened, his soul is empty. And it will be like one who is thirsty and dreams of drinking, but, after he has been awakened, he still languishes in thirst, and his soul is empty. So shall the multitude of all the nations be, who have struggled against Mount Zion.
9 Ẹ bẹ̀rù kí ẹnu kí ó yà yín, ẹ fọ́ ara yín lójú kí ẹ má sì ríran; ẹ mutí yó kì í ṣe ọtí wáìnì, ẹ ta gbọ̀nọ́ngbọ̀nọ́n, ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe ti ọtí líle.
Be stupefied and in wonder! Shake and quiver! Be inebriated, but not from wine! Stagger, but not from drunkenness!
10 Olúwa ti mú oorun ìjìká wá sórí i yín: ó ti dì yín lójú ẹ̀yin wòlíì; ó ti bo orí yín ẹ̀yin aríran.
For the Lord has mixed for you a spirit of deep sleep. He will close your eyes. He will cover your prophets and leaders, who see visions.
11 Fún un yín gbogbo ìran yìí kò yàtọ̀ sí àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ tí a fi èdìdì dì sínú ìwé kíká. Bí ẹ bá sì fún ẹni tí ó lè ka ìwé kíká náà, tí ẹ sì sọ fún un pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ ka èyí,” òun yóò dáhùn pé, “Èmi kò lè kà á; a ti dì í ní èdìdì.”
And the vision of all will be to you like the words of a sealed book, which, when they have given it to someone who knows how to read, they will say, “Read this,” but he will respond, “I cannot; for it has been sealed.”
12 Tàbí bí ẹ bá fún ẹni tí kò lè ka ìwé kíká náà tí ẹ sì sọ pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ ka èyí,” òun yóò dáhùn pé, “Èmi kò mọ̀ ọ́n kà.”
But if the book is given to someone who does not know how to read, and it is said to him, “Read,” then he will respond, “I do not know how to read.”
13 Olúwa wí pé: “Àwọn ènìyàn yìí súnmọ́ ọ̀dọ̀ mi pẹ̀lú ẹnu wọn, wọ́n sì bọ̀wọ̀ fún mi pẹ̀lú ètè wọn, ṣùgbọ́n ọkàn wọn jìnnà sí mi. Ìsìn wọn si mi ni a gbé ka orí òfin tí àwọn ọkùnrin kọ́ ni.
And the Lord said: Since this people have drawn near to me only with their mouth, and their lips glorify me while their heart is far from me, and their fear of me is based on the commandments and doctrines of men,
14 Nítorí náà lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i èmi yóò ya àwọn ènìyàn yìí lẹ́nu pẹ̀lú ìyanu lórí ìyanu; ọgbọ́n àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n ni yóò ṣègbé, ìmọ̀ àwọn onímọ̀ ni yóò pòórá.”
for this reason, behold, I will proceed to accomplish a wonder for this people, a great and mystifying miracle. For wisdom will perish from their wise, and the understanding of their prudent will be concealed.
15 Ègbé ni fún àwọn tí ó lọ sí ọ̀gbun láti fi ètò wọn pamọ́ kúrò lójú Olúwa, tí wọ́n ń ṣe iṣẹ́ ẹ wọn nínú òkùnkùn tí wọ́n sì rò pé, “Ta ló rí wa? Ta ni yóò mọ̀?”
Woe to you who use the depths of the heart, so that you may hide your intentions from the Lord. Their works are done in darkness, and so they say: “Who sees us?” and “Who knows us?”
16 Ẹ̀yin dojú nǹkan délẹ̀, bí ẹni pé wọ́n rò pé amọ̀kòkò dàbí amọ̀! Ǹjẹ́ ohun tí a ṣe le sọ fún olùṣe pé, “Òun kọ́ ló ṣe mí”? Ǹjẹ́ ìkòkò lè sọ nípa amọ̀kòkò pé, “Kò mọ nǹkan”?
This intention of yours is perverse. It is as if the clay were to plan against the potter, or as if the work were to say to its maker: “You did not make me.” Or it is as if what has been formed were to say to the one who formed it, “You do not understand.”
17 Ní àìpẹ́ jọjọ, ǹjẹ́ a kò ní sọ Lebanoni di pápá ẹlẹ́tù lójú àti pápá ẹlẹ́tù lójú yóò dàbí aginjù?
In not more than a little while and a brief time, Lebanon will be turned into a fruitful field, and a fruitful field will be considered to be a forest.
18 Ní ọjọ́ náà adití yóò gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ìwé kíká náà, láti inú fìrífìrí àti òkùnkùn ni àwọn ojú afọ́jú yóò ríran.
And in that day, the deaf will hear the words of a book, and out of darkness and obscurity the eyes of the blind will see.
19 Lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i àwọn onírẹ̀lẹ̀ yóò yọ̀ nínú Olúwa: àwọn aláìní yóò yọ̀ nínú Ẹni Mímọ́ ti Israẹli.
And the meek will increase their rejoicing in the Lord, and the poor among men will exult in the Holy One of Israel.
20 Aláìláàánú yóò pòórá, àwọn tí ń ṣẹlẹ́yà yóò di àwátì, gbogbo àwọn tí ó ní ojú ibi ni a ó ké lulẹ̀—
For the one who was prevailing has failed, the one who was mocking has been consumed, and all those who were standing guard over iniquity have been cut down.
21 àwọn tí wọ́n fi ọ̀rọ̀ kan mú ẹnìkan di ẹlẹ́bi, ẹni tí ń dẹkùn mú olùgbèjà ní ilé ẹjọ́ tí ẹ fi ẹ̀rí èké dun aláìṣẹ̀ ní ìdájọ́.
For they caused men to sin by a word, and they supplanted him who argued against them at the gates, and they turned away from justice in vain.
22 Nítorí náà, èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa, ẹni tí ó ra Abrahamu padà sọ sí ilé Jakọbu: “Ojú kì yóò ti Jakọbu mọ́; ojú wọn kì yóò sì rẹ̀wẹ̀sì mọ́.
Because of this, thus says the Lord, he who has redeemed Abraham, to the house of Jacob: From now on, Jacob will not be confounded; from now on his countenance will not blush with shame.
23 Nígbà tí wọ́n bá rí i láàrín àwọn ọmọ wọn, àwọn iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ mi, wọn yóò ya orúkọ mi sí mímọ́, wọn yóò tẹ́wọ́gbà mímọ́ Ẹni Mímọ́ Jakọbu wọn yóò dìde dúró ní ìbọ̀wọ̀ fún Ọlọ́run Israẹli.
Instead, when he sees his children, they will be the work of my hands in his midst, sanctifying my name, and they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and they will preach the God of Israel.
24 Gbogbo àwọn tí ń rìn ségesège ní yóò jèrè ìmọ̀; gbogbo àwọn tí ń ṣe àròyé yóò gba ìtọ́sọ́nà.”
And those who had gone astray in spirit will know understanding, and those who had murmured will learn the law.
