< Hosea 4 >

1 Ẹ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ẹ̀yin ọmọ Israẹli, nítorí pé Olúwa fi ẹ̀sùn kan ẹ̀yin tí ń gbé ní ilẹ̀ náà. “Kò sí ìwà òtítọ́, kò sí ìfẹ́, Kò sí ìmọ̀ Ọlọ́run ní ilẹ̀ náà,
Hear the word of Yahweh, ye sons of Israel, —that, a controversy, hath Yahweh with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness, nor lovingkindness, nor knowledge of God, in the land:
2 àfi èpè, irọ́ pípa àti ìpànìyàn olè jíjà àti panṣágà. Wọ́n rú gbogbo òfin, ìtàjẹ̀ sílẹ̀ sì ń gorí ìtàjẹ̀ sílẹ̀.
Cursing and lying, and killing and stealing, and committing adultery, have broken forth, and, blood-shedding, unto blood-shedding, doth extend.
3 Nítorí èyí, ilẹ̀ náà ń ṣọ̀fọ̀, gbogbo olùgbé ibẹ̀ sì ń ṣòfò dànù. Ẹranko igbó àti ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run àti ẹja inú omi ló ń kú.
For this cause, shall the land mourn, and everyone who dwelleth therein shall languish, with the wild beast of the field and with the bird of the heavens, —moreover also, the fishes of the sea, shall be withdrawn.
4 “Ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹnikẹ́ni má ṣe mú ẹ̀sùn wá, kí ẹnìkan má sì ṣe fi ẹ̀sùn kan ẹnìkejì nítorí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ dàbí àwọn ti ń fi ẹ̀sùn kan àlùfáà.
Howbeit let, no man, contend, nor let him rebuke another, —since, thy people, are as they who contend against a priest:
5 Ẹ ń ṣubú lọ́sàn án àti lóru àwọn wòlíì yín sì ń ṣubú pẹ̀lú yín. Èmi ó pa ìyá rẹ run,
So shouldst thou stumble in the daytime, and even the prophet stumble with thee, in the night, —and I should destroy thine own mother.
6 àwọn ènìyàn mi ń ṣègbé nítorí pé wọn kò ní ìmọ̀. “Nítorí pé ẹ ti kọ ìmọ̀ sílẹ̀. Èmi náà kọ̀ yín ní àlùfáà mi; nítorí pé ẹ ti kọ òfin Ọlọ́run yín sílẹ̀, Èmi náà yóò gbàgbé àwọn ọmọ yín.
My people, are destroyed, for lack of knowledge, —Because, thou, hast rejected knowledge, therefore will I reject thee from ministering as priest unto me, and, because thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also, will forget thy children.
7 Bí àwọn àlùfáà ṣe ń pọ̀ sí i bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ṣe ń dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí mi. Wọ́n yí ògo mi padà sí ohun ìtìjú
As they were magnified, so, they sinned against me, —My glory—for what was contemptible, did they exchange.
8 wọ́n ń jẹun nípa ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn mi, wọ́n sì ń gbádùn nínú ìwà búburú wọn.
The sin of my people, they do eat, —and. unto their iniquity, lift they up every man his desire.
9 Yóò sì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí ènìyàn ṣe rí náà ni àwọn àlùfáà rí. Èmi ó jẹ gbogbo wọn ní yà nítorí ọ̀nà wọn. Èmi ó sì san án fún wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí iṣẹ́ wọn.
So doth it come to be—like people, like priest, —therefore will I visit upon him his ways, and, his doings, will I bring back to him;
10 “Wọn ó máa jẹun ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò ní yó; wọn ó ṣe àgbèrè ṣùgbọ́n, wọn kò ni pọ̀ sí i, nítorí pé wọ́n ti kọ Olúwa sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti fi ara wọn
And they shall eat, and not be satisfied, they have encouraged unchastity, yet have not been making increase, —for unto, Yahweh, have they left off giving heed: —
11 fún àgbèrè; wọ́n fi ara wọn fún wáìnì àtijọ́, àti tuntun èyí tó gba òye àwọn ènìyàn mi sọnù.
Unchastity, and wine, and new wine, take away the heart.
12 Wọ́n ń gba ìmọ̀ràn lọ́wọ́ ère igi ọ̀pá igi sì ń dá wọn lóhùn. Ẹ̀mí àgbèrè ti mú wọn ṣìnà wọ́n sì jẹ́ aláìṣòótọ́ sí Ọlọ́run wọn.
My people, of their Wood, do ask, —Let, their Staff, then tell them, —for, the spirit of unchastity, hath led them astray, and they have unchastely departed from under their God.
13 Wọ́n ń rú ẹbọ lórí àwọn òkè ńlá, wọ́n sì ń sun ọrẹ tùràrí lórí àwọn òkè kékeré, lábẹ́ igi óákù, àti igi Poplari àti igi ẹlimuati onírúurú igi tí ìbòjú rẹ̀ dára. Nítorí náà àwọn ọmọbìnrin yín yóò ṣe àgbèrè àti àwọn àfẹ́sọ́nà yín yóò ṣe àgbèrè.
On the headlands of the mountains, they sacrifice, and, on the hills, burn they incense, under oak and poplar and terebinth, because, pleasant, is the shade thereof: For this cause, do your daughters, become unchaste, and, your brides, commit adultery.
14 “Èmi kò ní jẹ àwọn ọmọbìnrin yín ní yà nígbà tí wọ́n bá ṣe àgbèrè tàbí àwọn àfẹ́sọ́nà ọmọ yín, nígbà tí wọ́n bá ṣe àgbèrè nítorí pé àwọn ọkùnrin pàápàá ń bá alágbèrè kẹ́gbẹ́. Wọ́n sì ń rú ẹbọ pẹ̀lú àwọn alágbèrè ojúbọ òrìṣà. Nítorí náà, ènìyàn tí kò bá ní òye yóò parun!
I do not bring punishment upon your daughters when they become unchaste, nor upon your brides, when they commit adultery, for, the men themselves, with unchaste women, do seclude themselves, and, with the common women of the shrine, do offer sacrifice, —and, a people who will not discern, must be ruined.
15 “Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé o ṣe àgbèrè ìwọ Israẹli, ìdájọ́ yìí wà fún un yín. Ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí Juda di ẹlẹ́bi. “Ẹ má ṣe lọ sí Gilgali. Ẹ má sì ṣe gòkè lọ sí Beti-Afeni ẹ má sì búra pé, ‘Bí Olúwa ti wà láààyè nítòótọ́!’
Though unchaste art thou, O Israel, let not Judah, become guilty, neither let them enter Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, and [then] swear, By the life of Yahweh!
16 Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ṣe agídí bí alágídí ọmọ màlúù. Báwo wá ni Olúwa ṣe fẹ́ bọ́ wọn bí àgùntàn ní pápá oko tútù?
For, as a heifer that is stubborn, hath Israel, been stubborn, —Now, can Yahweh, turn them out to pasture, like a young ram in a wide place?
17 Efraimu ti darapọ̀ mọ́ òrìṣà, ẹ fi sílẹ̀!
Mated with idols, is Ephraim, let him alone.
18 Bí ohun mímu wọn bá tilẹ̀ tán, wọ́n tún tẹ̀síwájú nínú àgbèrè. Àwọn olórí wọn fẹ́ràn ohun ìtìjú ju ohun ìyìn lọ.
Their drinking-bout, having passed, —they became, unchaste, they loved wildly, a contempt, became her great men.
19 Ìjì ni yóò gbá wọn lọ. Gbogbo ìrúbọ wọn yóò sì kó ìtìjú bá wọn.
The wind hath bound her up in its wings, —that they may be ashamed, because of their sacrifices.
