< Hosea 2 >

1 “Sọ fún àwọn arákùnrin rẹ, ‘Ènìyàn mi,’ kí o sì wí fún àwọn arábìnrin rẹ ‘Àyànfẹ́ mi.’
Say ye unto your brethren, O Ammi ["O my people"], and unto your sisters, O Ruhamah ["O compassionated one"]:
2 “Ẹ bá ìyá yín wí, ẹ bá a wí, nítorí pé kì í ṣe ìyàwó mi, Èmi náà kì í sì í ṣe ọkọ rẹ̀. Jẹ́ kí ó yọ àgbèrè rẹ̀ kúrò lójú rẹ̀ àti àìṣòótọ́ kúrò ní àyà rẹ̀.
Contend ye with your mother, contend, for she is no wife of mine, and I am no husband of hers, Let her then put away her paramours from before her, and her partners in adultery, from her embraces:
3 Àìṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ èmi yóò tú u sí ìhòhò, Èmi yóò sì gbé e kalẹ̀ bí ọjọ́ tí a bí i. Èmi yóò ṣe ọ́ bí i aṣálẹ̀ ilẹ̀, Èmi yóò sì sọ ọ́ di ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀ Èmi yóò sì fi òǹgbẹ gbẹ ẹ́.
Lest I strip off her under-clothing, and set her forth to view, as in the day she was born, —and make her like a wilderness, and render her like a land that is parched, and suffer her to die of thirst;
4 Èmi kò ní fi àánú mi hàn sí àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ nítorí ọmọ àgbèrè ni wọ́n jẹ́.
And, on her children, not have compassion, —because, the children of paramours, they are.
5 Nítorí ìyá wọn ti hùwà àgbèrè, ó sì lóyún wọn nínú ìtìjú. Ó wí pé, ‘Èmi ó tún tọ́ àwọn àyànfẹ́ mi lẹ́yìn, tó ń fún mi ní oúnjẹ àti omi, ní irun àgùntàn mi àti ọ̀gbọ̀ mi, òróró mi àti ohun mímu mi.’
For their mother, hath been unchaste, and she that conceived them, hath caused shame, —for she said, Let me go after my lovers! who used to give my bread, and my water, my wool, and my flax, mine oil, and my drink.
6 Nítorí náà, èmi ó fi ẹ̀gún dì í lọ́nà, Èmi ó mọ odi yí i ká kí ó má ba à rọ́nà lọ.
Therefore, behold me! hedging up her way, with thorns, —and I will wall her in, and, her footpaths, shall she not find.
7 Yóò sáré lé àwọn olólùfẹ́ rẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n kò ní bá wọn; yóò wá wọn ṣùgbọ́n kò ní rí wọn. Nígbà náà ni yóò sọ pé, ‘Èmi ó padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọkọ mi àkọ́kọ́ nítorí pé ó dára fún mi nígbà náà ju ìsinsin yìí lọ.’
And, when she shall pursue her lovers, and not overtake them, and shall seek them and not find, then will she say, Let me go my way now! and return unto my first husband, for it was better with me, then, than, now!
8 Nítorí pé kò tí ì mọ̀ pé èmi ni àti ẹni tó fún un ní ọkà, ọtí wáìnì tuntun àti òróró ẹni tí ó fún un ní fàdákà àti wúrà lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀, èyí tí wọ́n lò fún Baali.
But, she, owneth not, that, I, gave her—the corn, and the new wine and the oil, —silver, also increased I unto her, and gold—[which] they offered to Baal!
9 “Nítorí náà, èmi yóò mú ọkà mi kúrò nígbà tó bá pọ́n, èmi yóò sì mú wáìnì mi kúrò ní àsìkò rẹ̀. Èmi yóò sì gba irun àgùntàn àti ọ̀gbọ̀ mi padà ti mo ti fi fún un láti bo ìhòhò rẹ̀.
Therefore, will I again take away my corn, in the time thereof, and my new wine, in the season thereof, —and will recover my wool and my flax [given] to hide her shame.
10 Èmi yóò sì fi ìwà ìtìjú rẹ̀ hàn lójú àwọn olólùfẹ́ rẹ̀ kò sí ẹni tí yóò gbà á sílẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ mi,
Now, therefore, will I expose her unseemliness, before the eyes of her lovers, —and no, man, shall deliver her out of my hand!
11 Èmi yóò mú gbogbo ayọ̀ rẹ̀ wá sí òpin: àjọ̀dún ọdọọdún rẹ̀, oṣù tuntun rẹ̀, ọjọ́ ìsinmi, àti gbogbo àwọn àjọ̀dún tí a yàn.
And I will cause to cease all her mirth, her pilgrim-festival, her new moon and her sabbath, —and her every appointed meeting;
12 Èmi yóò pa àjàrà àti igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ rẹ̀ run, èyí tí ó pè ní èrè rẹ̀ láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn olólùfẹ́ rẹ̀, Èmi yóò sọ wọ́n di igbó, àwọn ẹranko búburú yóò sì jẹ́ wọn run.
And will lay waste her vine and her fig- tree, as to which she hath said, A present, are they for myself, which my lovers, have given me, —and I will make of them a thicket, and the wild beasts of the field shall devour them.
13 Èmi yóò bẹ̀ ọjọ́ Baalimu wò ní ara rẹ̀ nínú èyí tó ń fi tùràrí jóná fún Baali; tí ó fi òrùka etí àti ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ rẹ̀, ṣe ara rẹ̀ lọ́ṣọ̀ọ́, tó sì tẹ̀lé àwọn olólùfẹ́ rẹ̀ lọ. Ṣùgbọ́n èmi ni òun gbàgbé,” ni Olúwa wí.
So will I visit upon her the days of the Baals, unto whom she used to burn incense, and decked herself with her nose-ring and her jewelry, and went her way after her lovers, —whereas, me, she forgat, Declareth Yahweh.
14 “Nítorí náà, èmi yóò tàn án, Èmi ó sì mú u lọ sí ilẹ̀ aṣálẹ̀, Èmi ó fi pẹ̀lẹ́pẹ̀lẹ́ bá a sọ̀rọ̀
Therefore, lo! I, am going to persuade her, and, though I conduct her forth into wilderness, yet will I speak unto her heart.
15 Níbẹ̀ ni èmi yóò ti dá ọgbà àjàrà rẹ̀ padà fún un, Èmi yóò fi àfonífojì Akori ṣe ìlẹ̀kùn ìrètí fún un. Yóò sì kọrin níbẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìgbà èwe rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìgbà tó kúrò ní Ejibiti.
Then will I give to her her vineyards from thence, and the vale of Achor ["trouble"] for a door of hope, —and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16 “Yóò sì ṣe ní ọjọ́ náà, ìwọ yóò pè mí ní ‘ọkọ mi’; ìwọ kò sì ní pè mí ní ‘olúwa à mi mọ́,’ ni Olúwa wí.
And it shall come to pass, in that day, Declareth Yahweh, that she will call me Ishi ["My husband"], and will not call me any more, Baali ["Mine owner"].
17 Èmi yóò mú orúkọ, àwọn òrìṣà Baali kúrò lẹ́nu rẹ̀; ìwọ kò sì ní rí orúkọ òrìṣà Baali pè mọ́.
So will I take away the names of the Baals, out of her mouth, —and they shall not be called to mind any more, by their name.
18 Ní ọjọ́ náà, èmi yóò ṣe májẹ̀mú fún wọn àti àwọn ẹranko igbó àti ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run àti àwọn ẹ̀dá tí ń rìn lórí ilẹ̀. Kí wọn má bà á bẹ̀rù ara wọn mọ́. Ọfà, idà àti ogun jíjà ni èmi ó parun ní ilẹ̀ náà kí gbogbo ènìyàn bá a lè wà ní àìléwu.
And I will solemnize to them a covenant, in that day, with the wild-beast of the field, and with the bird of the heavens, and the creeping thing of the ground, —and, bow and sword and battle, will I break in pieces out of the land, so will I cause them to lie down, in security.
19 Èmi yóò fẹ́ ọ fún ara mi títí láé; Èmi ó fẹ́ ọ ní ìwà òdodo àti òtítọ́, ní ìfẹ́ àti àánú.
And I will take thee unto myself, unto times age-abiding, —yea I will take thee unto myself, in righteousness and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in abounding compassion:
20 Èmi yóò fẹ́ ọ fún ara mi ní òtítọ́ ìwọ yóò sì mọ Olúwa.
Yea I will take thee unto myself, in faithfulness, —So shalt thou know Yahweh.
21 “Èmi yóò sì dáhùn ní ọjọ́ náà,” ni Olúwa wí; “Èmi yóò dá àwọn ọ̀run lóhùn àwọn ọ̀run yóò sì dá ilẹ̀ lóhùn;
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will respond, Declareth Yahweh, I will respond to the heavens, —and, they, shall respond to the earth;
22 ilẹ̀ náà yóò sì dá ọkà, wáìnì tuntun àti òróró lóhùn Gbogbo wọn ó sì dá Jesreeli lóhùn.
And, the earth, shall respond to the corn, and to the new wine and to the oil, —and, they, shall respond to Jezreel ["Whom GOD scattereth," "Whom GOD soweth"].
23 Èmi ó sì gbìn ín fún ara mi lórí ilẹ̀ náà, Èmi yóò ṣàánú fún ẹni tí kò tì í ri ‘Àánú gbà.’ Èmi yóò sọ fún àwọn tí ‘Kì í ṣe ènìyàn mi pé,’ ‘Ẹ̀yin ni ènìyàn mi’; àwọn náà yóò sì wí pé, ‘Ìwọ ni Ọlọ́run mi.’”
So will I sow her unto me in the land, and will have compassion upon the uncompassionated one ["Lo-ruhamah"], —and will say to him who was No-people-of-mine ["Lo-ammi"], My people, thou art, and, he, shall say, My God!
