1 Ní ọdún kejì ọba Dariusi ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní oṣù kẹfà, ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa wá nípasẹ̀ wòlíì Hagai sí Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli, baálẹ̀ Juda, àti sọ́dọ̀ Joṣua ọmọ Josadaki, olórí àlùfáà.
In the second yeere of King Darius, in the sixt moneth, the first day of the moneth, came ye worde of the Lord (by the ministery of the Prophet Haggai) vnto Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, a prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, saying,
2 Báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí: “Àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí wí pé, ‘Kò tí ì tó àkókò láti kọ́ ilé Olúwa.’”
Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, that the Lords House should be builded.
3 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ wòlíì Hagai wí pé,
Then came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
4 “Ǹjẹ́ àkókò ni fún ẹ̀yin fúnra yín láti máa gbé ní ilé tí a ṣe ní ọ̀ṣọ́ nígbà tí ilé yìí wà ni ahoro?”
Is it time for your selues to dwell in your sieled houses, and this House lie waste?
5 Nísìnsinyìí, èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí: “Ẹ kíyèsi ọ̀nà yín.
Now therefore thus saith ye Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
6 Ẹ̀yin ti gbìn ohun ti ó pọ̀. Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kórè díẹ̀ níbẹ̀. Ẹ̀yin jẹun, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kò yó. Ẹ̀yin mu ṣùgbọ́n kò tẹ́ ẹ yín lọ́run; ẹ̀yin wọ aṣọ, ṣùgbọ́n kò mú òtútù yin lọ; ẹyin gba owó iṣẹ́ ṣùgbọ́n ẹ ń gbà á sínú ajádìí àpò.”
Ye haue sowen much, and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not ynough: ye drinke, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warme: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bagge.
7 Báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí: “Ẹ kíyèsi ọ̀nà yín.
Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
8 Ẹ gun orí àwọn òkè ńlá lọ, kí ẹ sì mú igi wá pẹ̀lú yín. Kí ẹ sì kọ́ ilé náà, kí inú mi bà le è dùn sí i, kí a sì yín mí lógo,” ni Olúwa wí.
Goe vp to the mountaine, and bring wood, and build this House, and I wil be fauourable in it, and I will be glorified, sayth the Lord.
9 “Ẹyin ti ń retí ọ̀pọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n kíyèsi i, o yípadà sí díẹ̀. Ohun tí ẹ̀yin mú wa ilé, èmi sì fẹ́ ẹ dànù. Nítorí kí ni?” ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí. “Nítorí ilé mi tí ó dahoro; tí olúkúlùkù yín sì ń sáré fún ilé ara rẹ̀.
Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to litle: and when ye brought it home, I did blowe vpon it. And why, sayth the Lord of hostes? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye runne euery man vnto his owne house.
10 Nítorí yín ni àwọn ọ̀run ṣe dá ìrì dúró tí ilẹ̀ sì kọ̀ láti mu èso jáde.
Therefore the heauen ouer you stayed it selfe from dewe, and the earth stayed her fruite.
11 Mo sì ti pe ọ̀dá sórí ilẹ̀ àti sórí àwọn òkè ńlá, sórí ọkà àti sórí wáìnì tuntun, sórí òróró àti sórí ohun ti ilẹ̀ ń mú jáde, sórí ènìyàn, sórí ẹran àti sórí gbogbo iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ yín.”
And I called for a drought vpon the land, and vpon the mountaines, and vpon the corne, and vpon the wine, and vpon the oyle, vpon all that the ground bringeth foorth: both vpon men and vpon cattell, and vpon all the labour of the hands.
12 Nígbà náà ni Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli, Joṣua ọmọ Josadaki, olórí àlùfáà pẹ̀lú gbogbo ènìyàn ìyókù, gba ohùn Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn gbọ́ àti ọ̀rọ̀ wòlíì Hagai, nítorí Olúwa Ọlọ́run ni ó rán an. Àwọn ènìyàn sì bẹ̀rù Olúwa.
When Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest with all the remnant of the people, heard the voyce of the Lord their God, and the wordes of the Prophet Haggai (as the Lord their God had sent him) then the people did feare before the Lord.
13 Nígbà náà ni Hagai ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa ń jíṣẹ́ Olúwa fún àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Èmí wà pẹ̀lú yín,” ni Olúwa wí.
Then spake Haggai the Lords messenger in the Lords message vnto the people, saying, I am with you, sayth the Lord.
14 Nítorí náà, Olúwa ru ẹ̀mí Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli sókè, baálẹ̀ Juda àti ẹ̀mí Joṣua ọmọ Josadaki, olórí àlùfáà àti ẹ̀mí gbogbo ènìyàn ìyókù. Wọ́n sì wá, wọ́n sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ní ṣiṣẹ́ lórí ilé Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun Ọlọ́run wọn,
And the Lord stirred vp the spirite of Zerubbabel, the sonne of Shealtiel a prince of Iudah, and the spirit of Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the worke in the House of the Lord of hostes their God.

In the foure and twentieth day of the sixt moneth, in the second yeere of King Darius,
